For MS-PowerPoint 2007 :

Taking account of power point 2007 and using the feature included inside for this purpose we have to take two steps to embed a YouTube video into your PowerPoint presentation. The movie files that can be embeded into PowerPoint must be asf, avi, mpeg, or wmv. So make sure you have taken the right video format during the first step. Here is some detailed instruction.

If you use this method then always put the YouTube video in the same folder as your PowerPoint presentation on your pc. There is another way to add youtube video for that, first download YouTube Wizard plug-in from skp.mvps.org and upon installation this will add a new “Insert YouTube Video” command to your PowerPoint Toolbar. You simply have to type the URL of the YouTube video and follow the wizard to add the YouTube video player in your current slide. You can tweak the position of the player anywhere on the slide. If you don’t have an internet connection to play the video, then while presenting the power point slide you must save youtube video and convert it to the format recognized by power point. So, once the video is saved as an AVI or WMV file on your computer, go to Insert –> Movie –> “Movie from file” to put the YouTube video in the current slide.

Using Powerpoint 2010 there is a good feature that makes easy to insert video. To embed a video from online site like YouTube, click on the insert tab in PowerPoint and on the right hand corner you will be able to see Video option. Click on the video option and select Video from Online Video Site. This action will open up a window to add the embed code of the video. So Copy and paste the video embed code from the website then click Insert button and the video will be added to your presentation. Importantly you will need Internet connection to play them while showing the presentation. This feature although a nice one does not allow you to search for videos or images, you need to use the browser to do that job.

If we make an internet search then we can found another way to do this kind of process by downloading and installing authorSTREAM Desktop plugin for PowerPoint 2007 (works also on power point 2010). Once installed you can see that adds a new tab called authorSTREAM. Now you can use that option to search for image and videos by entering the search term and click enter . Notice the search results are displayed on the right sidebar, then click on a photo or on a video and this will quickly insert them without having you to leave PowerPoint. In case you know the video URL, you can directly insert it by using the Insert by URL option. If you right click on the inserted youtube video and choose property then a new windows will popup giving more information on that inserted video such as URL link, video format…

Once you have created the PowerPoint presentation, you can also upload it to authorSTREAM website or to your own account for sharing purposes. AuthorSTREAM Desktop plugin for PowerPoint is a free download so go ahead and use it for your presentations.

Once indexed, you can quickly search and locate a file by name, size, and date, with additional search fields for MP3 files. Browsing through the resulting database is very handy, It’s everything Explorer should have.

This well organized catalogue makes the searches nearly instantaneous. A search for duplicate files is also improved and is fast. Its possible to create a search profile and to save it then if needed can be reloaded so that to be used in the coming searching exercise. Files and folders can be searched in the database even if the original media (or Internet connection for FTP servers) is not currently available and this works really fast. PayPal [India] will back in action in a few days

Good news for all Indians (especially Exporters!) who rely on PayPal for online transactions. PayPal has announced that the Withdrawals to local banks will be resumed in a few days viz. by March 3rd. Reserve Bank of India has given permission to PayPal to allow account holders to transfer funds to local banks.

But, there will be some changes to the withdrawal procedure. It is not going to be like the old, simple procedure. But what I didn’t understand is this

Moving forward, the RBI has told us that PayPal needs specific approvals to allow personal inward remittances to India, which we currently do not have. Until we get these approvals, personal payments into India will remain suspended. However, if you are an exporter, you will continue to be able to use the PayPal service for payments of goods and services.

Corbitek Antimalware 2 Beta And Development

Nowadays a single security software is not sufficient to challenge new malicious programs that runs through the internet and installs itself anonymously on the pc. This can be done since all security software do not function the same way and this is since they are programmed differently and their realtime protection and scanning engine to search and destroy are based on different signatures. Well its time and this depend on the user to search another malware detecting software to install on the pc and that importantly do not causes conflict with the main antivirus software.

Thus Corbitek Antimalware 2 Beta is an interesting under-development software that focus on detecting viruses, trojans, spyware…and backdoors, as well as new, unknown malware thanks to its advanced heuristic module. The aim in mind of the developer to furnish a satisfying security tool based on the latest technology in this field.

Installation wizard will ask if to install with realtime protection or without, once the desired option is chosen then a small windows will popup with the main window, this small windows can be further tweaked so that to exclude or include other extensions for scanning purposes.

Prior to start a scan the settings option should be visited so that to choose either to move infected files to the quarantine, to delete or to disinfect. Then the scan type can be configured from Low Heuristics to Insane Heuristics so naturally the scan time will be affected by this measurement. Interestingly the log filed can be emailed if expert view is indeed needed to take non dangerous action so to preserve the integrity and well going of the windows system.

A test was done on a 50 gb hard drive containing windows and the quick scan with medium heuristics on took 50min which scanned 85446 objects and detected 62infections. The Full scan took 1h and 100332 objects were scanned and 89 infections were detected.

Based on your preference and if you decided to quarantine the infected files then after the scan you can navigate to corbitek antimalware installation directory then to quarantine folder and delete all files that are necessary to be deleted or to restore them back if they falls in the false positive circle. Of course if one configure the automatic delete option then the soft will scan and delete the infected files directly.

Corbitek Antimalware 2 Features:

The realtime protection only monitors programs execution and creation of files. We don’t use system wide hooks for that, hence the compatibility with real time protection components from other security vendors.
The heuristics level:
- low – Checks for random file names
- Medium – Checks for suspicious strings
- High – Checks the IAT(Import Address table)
- Insane – All of the above
RNA – Checks if the file signature matches more than x% with any signature in the database
General Signatures – instead of creating a signature for the whole file, it only creates a signature for a specific section in the portable executable, if the file is a valid PE.

According to the softmaker it’s very hard to keep up with the ever increasing number of malware/day (~2000) and also it is difficult to compete with the army of paid people from other well established security vendors that add signatures for their products. Because of that, Corbitek Antimalware 2 will be the last version to rely on signatures for detecting malware. Version 3 will not use any signatures, instead it will use an intelligent approach for detecting malware. If you need more info on version 3, please check their website.

There are several bugs in Corbitek Antimalware 2:

0 bytes files are detected as infected
Some GUI access violation
Some false positives on known good files

The new version 3 will have two declinations such as a freeware and a commercial one. So if interested then download the version 2 and find out if its suitable for your daily used pc. My advise for this beta version is not to include the realtime protecting option so that to not be overcomed by unnecessary false alarms.

If you wish to get involved then contact the softmaker with the subject “Development Progress” then you will receive very early versions of Corbitek Antimalware 3 such as the alpha version of the new kernel:”Minerva Kernel”(minrvkrn.dll) and a command line interface for testing. Corbitek Antimalware 2 is a 32 bit native application and 64 bit compatible. Corbitek Antimalware 3 will be both 32 and 64 bit native.
