Emails Deleted in outlook but not deleted from Blackberry - Fix

If you are a user of Blackberry and syncing your mails on to Outlook, and facing a problem with your Blackberry that mails are not automatically deleting from your Blackberry phone when you delete a mails from outlook. The solution is here:

Just make sure that on the device you go into "Messages" and press the track wheel and go to the "Options" menu. In the options select "Email Reconciliation" and ensure "Delete On:" is set to "Mailbox & Handheld".

Also I would assume you have Outlook running in cached mode so you press "Send & Receive" in Outlook for the updates to be applied to the desktop. Also in cached mode if you delete email from Outlook you need to leave it in the "Deleted Items" otherwise the BlackBerry will loose track of it. So when deleting hit send and receive when you are done (ensuring they are still in the deleted items) and the on the device go to messages and press the track wheel and select "Reconcile Now".

With cached mode in Outlook changes are only applied to the server every 5 minutes when it does a scheduled send and receive. With the BlackBerry side it does and email reconciliation every 15 minutes so changes can be delayed. Now if you delete items and empty the deleted items before this process is done the blackberry looses trace of the mail and the updates aren’t applied to the device.

Below are some of the problem caused on Blackberry that leads to your Bluetooth issue.

1.For those of you who can't even get your computer to even detect your curve, this may sound really simple, but I'm sure you've overlooked this. From the Bluetooth options screen that shows your listed device, hit the menu button, and scroll down to "Options." See the listed information? Make sure that next to "Discoverable," it has "Yes" listed. If not, click the scroll wheel and change it to yes. I bet you're kicking yourself for that one.

2. Now this is where it gets somewhat tricky and misleading. Even after having switched "Discoverable" to "Yes" allowing your computer to detect the 8310, you will still get a message saying "Remote device does not support service" if you try to transfer a file from your computer to the curve using your transfer application.

This is when you have to go into your "Media" application and select any format type. After doing so, hit the menu button, and select "Receive Using Bluetooth." While it's waiting, select whatever file you wish to send on your computer, select send via Bluetooth, and then select your 8310. No matter what format you started the receiving process on, the 8310 will automatically detect what type of file was transferred and put it in its respective folder.

There you have it folks. I have no clue why this process was made so arbitrary on the 8310, but file transfers via Bluetooth are definitely doable. Sorry Rapid, looks like you were wrong, and the funny thing is, I just got my 8310 today, and I was able to figure this out without having even read the quick or starting guide.

If you are having errors in your Calendar or Address Book on your BlackBerry, and you wish to delete the entire Calendar (or Address Book) database on your BlackBerry, follow the directions below. Make certain you have a good copy of your Calendar or Contacts elsewhere, as this procedure will completely delete ALL Calendar entries and/or Address Book entries on your BlackBerry.

1. Open Desktop Manager on your PC.
2. Open up Backup/Restore > Advanced.
3. From Advanced you'll see a split pane screen. The left pain is what is going to be backed up from your device and the right is a list of the currently existing databases.
3. Highlight on the right side your Address Book database (or your Calendar database) and click the arrow in the middle pointing to the left. This will copy the information over and prepare it for back-up.
4. Once the back-up has completed, hit the Clear button at the bottom to erase and clean out the entire address book database (or Calendar database).
5. After it is finished, it will ask you if you want to save the back-up you have created.
6. Say yes and check the device to make sure the address book has properly cleared out.
7. Now, resync the necessary contact information and you should be set to go.

What do you mean by SATA?

SATA (serial advance technology attachment) is the new interface standard for hard disk drives that uses serial communication instead of parallel. This new technology promises higher data transfer rate than a conventional PATA hard disk (normal hard disk in old systems), and also reduces the clutter caused by the parallel cables inside the cabinet with smaller and thinner connecting cables.

Why doesn't Windows 2000 or XP detect my Serial ATA disc drive during installation of my operating system?

This may happen if the required drivers are not installed. SATA (serial ATA), FC-AL (fibre-channel-arbitrated loop) and SCSI host bus adapters may require additional drivers provided by the HBA (Host Bus Adapter) manufacturer to be installed during setup. To specify ‘additional mass storage device’ (this means disk drive) for Windows 2000 or XP during setup, press [F6] during the boot into text-mode Setup. At this point insert a floppy containing the drivers. If the drivers came on a CD, you must copy them to a floppy diskette before this step in order to install them. If you are replacing your boot drive, you may have to change the boot order in the BIOS to boot from the Serial ATA controller (sometimes represented in the boot order as the drive model number and sometimes as SCSI). If your motherboard has onboard serial ATA connectors, you should have been prompted to install the drivers for them when you installed the motherboard. If you didn't install them at the time of the motherboard installation, then you should be prompted during a Plug and Play process by your OS to provide drivers. We recommend going to the serial ATA controller manufacturer's Web site for the latest drivers.

Does the current generation SATA drive provide any performance gain over the conventional 7200 rpm hard disk?

As such there has been no performance gain by using the current generation SATA drive, but this will definitely improve as newer drives that will natively supported by the motherboard are introduced. The only good thing about the new SATA drives is the less cluster created by the smaller and thinner wires improving the thermal dynamics and air flow in the cabinet and the ease of use since there are no jumpers to manage and no master-slave concept to implement.

Disc drive data rates have not exceeded ATA100 limits yet, why should I switch to Serial ATA?

The maximum internal data rate on an IDE disc drive today is ~72 MB per sec. The ATA/100 data transfer rate has not been reached but one of the reasons IDE performance is where it is today is due to the expandable data path PATA has allowed. That data path in PATA has reached its limit. Serial ATA allows disc drives to continue to offer performance and reliability at cost parity to Parallel ATA. In addition, Serial ATA interface requires less voltage meaning better power consumption and management in both desktop and mobile applications. The thinner cable allows for flexible designs and improved airflow in smaller form-factors.

Can I use Serial ATA hard disks with my existing system?

To use Serial ATA drives your motherboard has to provide a SATA interface. Newer motherboards with chipsets like KT400 for AMD and 865 and 875 for Intel provide support for SATA. Also keep in mind that there is no primary/secondary drives in SATA. You can connect only one SATA device to a single interface.

What is the difference between the special 80-conductor IDE cables used to connect faster hard disks and the older 40-conductor cables?

An 80-conductor cable is used to connect an ATA/100 and ATA/133 hard disk drive to the system. Older IDE cables were based on a 40-conductor format while the new IDE interfaces allow high-speed data transmission. The possibility of data transmission error is minimised by adding an additional ground line alongside each of the 40 conductors in the older cables. This provides shielding to the data along these cables. An 80-conductor cable enables the newer compliant drives to operate at the optimum speed of the newer IDE interfaces.

Why do my applications slow down over time?

Every time you work with an application, the operating system creates numerous temporary files that are required by the active applications. These files tend to scatter all over the hard disk. Also, when you add or delete programs and files, it creates unused clusters of small empty spaces. Later, when files and applications are stored on the drive, they take up these spaces and are therefore scattered throughout the drive's storage area. Now, when an application or data needs to be read from the drive, it has to search for its related files all over the hard disk, which slows down the applications. Regular defragmentation of the drive will solve this problem to a large degree.

What is a hard disk buffer used for, and how does it affect its performance?

A hard disk's buffer is a small amount of high-speed memory that is used to temporarily hold data that is written to and read from the hard disk drive platters. The size of this buffer dictates the amount of information that can be concurrently written to and read from the hard disk. Applications where a larger buffer will lead to noticeable performance increases include audio and video editing, file servers and other applications where a lot of data transfer occurs over the hard disk over extended periods of time. Drives today feature buffer sizes ranging from 1 MB to 8 MB.

Windows 98 or better

Windows 98 has a much more efficient disk subsystem than Windows 95, which allows better writing to the hard disk. This can significantly improve capture quality and editing speed. Windows 2000 is preferred over any other Windows version. Windows 95, 98 and Me will not allow AVI files over 2 GB. If you use Windows 2000 or XP, there is no such limitation, but do turn off some of the operating system's memory-hogging features if you use XP.

Boot faster

Before Windows loads, it processes certain files to set the correct environment and load initial drivers and Windows settings. The config.sys typically loads drivers and the autoexec.bat sets the environment and runs programs before Windows loads. If these files are loading any unnecessary items, you should remove them. Both files can be edited in Notepad.
A third file, the msdos. sys, sets several parameters for Windows. It specifies the Windows folder, the location of the startup files, behaviour of the boot menu, etc. Changing a few parameters can ensure faster booting of the operating system. If any parameters exist, you can change its value, or simply add a line with the parameter. Before you can edit this file, however, you must strip its read-only and hidden attributes. To do this, open a Command Prompt window and type this command: attrib -h -r msdos.sys
When Windows is not shut down properly, it automatically runs Scandisk when it boots again. You can disable this by using AutoScan=0. Setting its value to 1 will bring up a prompt asking if you want to run Scandisk and setting it to 2 will run Scandisk automatically. BootDelay=x sets the amount of time you have to press [F8] to bring up the boot menu. The default value for this is 2 seconds. If BootMenu is set to 1, it will always bring up the boot menu, BootMenuDelay sets the number of seconds this menu is displayed for, before booting with the default selection. When BootWarn is set to 0, Windows will boot to Safe Mode without warning, whenever it does not start properly.
By now, you probably have FAT32 on all drives, so disk compression utilities will not work. You should disable the driver for this by setting DblSpace and DrvSpace to 0. Also, if you do not have a SCSI controller, set DoubleBuffer to 0. You can disable logging of the boot process by setting the value of DisableLog to 1. Setting SystemReg to 0 will disable scanning of the Registry at startup, but it is better to leave this on.

XP Choose performance

To maximize performance of Windows XP. Right click My Computer icon -> click properties ->switch to the Advanced tab -> click settings button -> under performance. Choose “Adjust to best performance”. Note : This will off all graphic effects, but you will notice a boost in speed.

The OS is a collection of programs that manages and controls the entire operations of the computer. It controls all the I/O devices, processor, memory etc and runs software. The OS supervises the interaction between system and user.

Booting: - Loading the OS into the main memory of the computer is known as booting. The DOS can be loaded into memory in two ways, clod and warm booting. Booting a computer while in “OFF” position is known as cold booting. Rebooting a system while OS is already in the main memory, using reset button or pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete is known as warm booting.

DOS Prompt: - The OS may be loaded into the main memory either from floppy or hard disk, after booting the DOS the system displays the DOS prompt like a:\> when the DOS is loaded from floppy (If DOS is loaded from hard disk the DOS prompt like c:\>). All the commands are entered at this prompt.

File name: - The data must be stored under a name for the better retrieval and processing performance. In DOS, the file name has two parts, primary and extension part. The primary part is must and can be up to eight characters length. The extension part is optional and can be up to three characters length. Even though all the alpha numeric characters are allowed for naming a file, certain reserved names are given bellow, which cannot be used as file name. E.g.: Aux, Com1, Com2, Cpt1, prn etc…

System files of DOS: - The MS-DOS consists of two hidden files io.sys and msdos.sys and command interpreter named command.com. The file io.sys and msdos.sys manages the processor, memory, I/O devices and file system. The command.com interprets and process all commands that are entered.

In MS-DOS there are two types of commands, internal and external.
The internal commands are an integral part of command interpreter E.g.: dir, cls, date etc. External commands are not a part of command interpreter, so the corresponding file should be loaded into the memory to execute. These are files with extension Exe, Com and Bat E.g.: Tree, Format, fdisk etc.

Wild card characters

Wild card characters are used to select a group of files. There are two special characters that can be used as wild card characters, “* and ?”.
‘?’ is used to replace a single character position. ‘*’ is used to replace 1 to 8 characters in the primary part and 1 to 3 characters in the extinction part.

Dir *.com To list the file names with extension '.com'
Dir a*.* To list the file names starting with 'a'
Dir *. To list the file names having no extensions
Dir ?a*.* To list the file names having second character of primary part is 'a'.

Motherboard is a foundation of the PC without the CPU. Disk drives and add-on cards are nothing but bunch disparate parts. The motherboard provides more than place to plug in these devices. It determines how quickly and efficiently they can communicate and work. The motherboard contains the following items.

1) CPU sockets or slots.
2) Memory and cache slots or chips.
3) Add-on card slot.
4) System chipsets and Bios.
5) CMOS Battery.
6) I/O Ports.
7) Pin outs or ports for connecting disk drives.
8) Power connectors.

Pin Packages: -

1) DIPP (Dual In line Pin Package): - Pins are arranged in both sides of IC.
2) PLCC (Plastic Leadless Chip Carrier): - The pins are arranged in four sides which inserted inside a plastic carrier.
3) SMD (Surface Mound Device): - This IC is soldered to the PCB (Printed Circuit Board).
4) PGA (Pin Grid Array): - Pins are arranged at the bottom side of IC. This type IC uses ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) sockets.
5) SEC (Single Edge Connectors): - Just like add-on card system. e.g.:- slot1.
6) LGA [Land Grid Array]: - The new Pentium4 Processor 506+ Socket. 775 Pin Surface mount LGA. In this type of ICs, there are no pins instead spots of metallic.

Co-Processor: - It is a special processor designed to assist the microprocessor in mathematical operation. Since the decimal place can be handled by co-processor is high. It is also called FPU (Floating Point Unit) or NPU (Numerical Processing Unit). Co-processor can be enable/disable through CMOS. Co-processor is worked under the control of microprocessor. The latest microprocessors are coming with built-in co-processor, so increase the speed.
Expansion Slots.

Generally there are six types of expansion slots in the motherboard, those are given bellow.
1. ISA (Industry Standard Architecture) Slot: - It is a black colored slot in the motherboard. There are two types of ISA slots, 8-Bit and 16-Bit slots for general purpose.
2. VESA (Video Enhanced Standard Architecture) Slot: - It is a 32-Bit slot. It is a combination of 16-Bit ISA and a brown colored small slot for general purpose.
3. PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) Slot: - It is a white colored 32-Bit slot for general purpose.
4. AGP (Advanced Graphic Port) Slot: - It is a coffee-brown colored 64-Bit slot for graphic purpose.
5. AMR (Audio Modem Riser): - It is a brown colored 32-Bit slot for modem.
6. PCI Express interface: - The latest I/O Interconnect technology that speeds up the PCI bus. PCI Express features point-to-point serial interconnection between devices and allows higher clock speeds by carrying data in packets. It supports x16 graphic cards that comply with the PCI Express specifications. It is a blue colored slot.

How is Gmail IMAP protocol different from Gmail POP3 protocol?

Gmail IMAP is a better method than POP3 protocol, as it offers two-way communication between your web Gmail and your email client. This means when you log in to Gmail using a web browser, actions you perform on email clients and mobile devices, for example putting mails in a ‘work’ folder, will instantly and automatically appear in Gmail i.e. it will already have a ‘work’ label on that email the next time you sign in. IMAP makes this possible as it creates a constant connection between mail clients (desktop and/or mobile) and Gmail. POP3 protocol is more prone to losing messages or downloading the same messages multiple times. Unlike POP3, IMAP provides a more stable user experience primarily due to its two-way syncing capabilities between web Gmail and mail clients.

How to enable Gmail IMAP?

Log on to your Gmail
Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
Next, Click Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
Select Enable IMAP.

Yahoo POP3 setting enables you to configure your yahoo mail on to your favorite email client like outlook or outlook express or other favorite clients. Or you can configure it in a mail enabled phone like blackberry mobile.

POP/SMTP are email protocols that allow you to manage one mail account from another mail program.

After a correct configuration all mails will be downloaded to your computer on to a .pst file.
The main difference between yahoo pop3 and gmail pop3 settings is, on gmail account we have control over the mails. That is, from the account settings of Gmail we can decide whether to store a copy of the mail on the main server and one copy is download to our system. So that we cann access all mails from anywhere if our pop3 configured pc or laptop is not with us.
But on Yahoo, there is no such settings available for free yahoo mail users. All mail will be downloaded on the very next moment we click send and receive button from the mail client.

Yahoo POP3 and SMTP Settings:

Incoming Mail (POP3) Server: pop3.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 995)
Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server: smtp.mail.yahoo.com (Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication)
Account Name/Login Name: Your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the “@yahoo.com”)
Email Address: Your Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., user@yahoo.com)
Password: Your Yahoo! Mail password

Note that you also need to enable “Web & POP Access” on your Yahoo Mail account to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages through any other email program.

POP SSL required? Yes

User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example yourname@hotmail.com

Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live

SMTP server: smtp.live.com (Port 25) {Note: If port 25 has been blocked in your network or by your ISP, you can set SMTP port to 587 with TLS or SSL Encryption depending on the client in use}

Authentication required? Yes (this matches your POP username and password)

TLS/SSL required? Yes

As mentioned above, make sure to check the box that indicates that your outgoing server requires authentication as in most e-mail clients, this is not checked by default. Also, Hotmail POP3 service requires that you use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) with the POP and SMTP connection and use SMTP authentication. This is to ensure that your e-mail address and password are not subject to tampering. One need not configure anything on their Hotmail accounts to migrate them to free POP service. They only need to configure their mail client for Hotmail POP3 and SMTP settings.

How to put password on rar files | Give password to winrar files

If you want to add a password to your files of folders, you can use winrar compressing tool to give protection to your files and folder with a password. Winrar is the best compression tool other than all. It supports all file types than winzip supports. Using winrar we can open compressed files used with winzip. But we can't open compressed files using winrar with winzip.

To protect your files or folders with a password, please do the following things

Right click on the file or folder which u want to give the password.
Click on "Add to Archive".
Then go to Advanced tab.
Click on set password. choose any password.
Click ok.
A winrar file with ur filename will be created.
Next you may delete the original file, as u have now compressed it with a password.

How to setup a Site to Site VPN | Site to Site VPN Configurations

First of all its possible to do the site to site VPN with help of IPSec technology from one router to the remote Router.

You just have to note the WAN interface IP addresses in both side, if the connection type is adsl with dynamic IP address then there might be occur some problems..

I will give a brief idea about the setup and you just need to follow the same:-
These steps to be done on one side and the same steps must be repeated on the other side too.
The encryption of data will depend on a shared-key. This way, you will not need specialized CAs or RSA methodologies.

1. Create Internet Key Exchange (IKE) key policy. The policy used for case is policy number 9, because this policy requires a pre-shared key.

Router(config) #crypto isakmp policy 9

Router(config- isakmp)#hash md5

Router(config- isakmp)#authentication pre-share

2. Setup the shared key that would be used in the VPN,

Router(config) #crypto isakmp key VPNKEY address XXX.XXX.XXX. XXX

where, VPNKEY is the shared key that you will use for the VPN, and remember to set the same key on the other end.

XXX.XXX.XXX. XXX the static public IP address of the other end.

3. Now we set lifetime for the IPSec security associations,

Router(config) #crypto ipsec security-associatio n lifetime seconds YYYYY

where YYYYY is the associations lifetime in seconds. It is usually used as 86400, which is one day.

4. Configure an extended access-list to define the traffic that is allowed to be directed through the VPN link,

Router(config) #access-list AAA permit ip SSS.SSS.SSS. SSS WIL.DCA.RDM. ASK DDD.DDD.DDD. DDD WIL.DCA.RDM. ASK

where,AAA is the access-list number

SSS.SSS.SSS. SSS WIL.DCA.RDM. ASK is the source of the data allowed to use the VPN link.

DDD.DDD.DDD. DDD WIL.DCA.RDM. ASK is the destination of the data that need to pass though the VPN link.

5. Define the transformations set that will be used for this VPN connection,

Router(config) #crypto ipsec transform-set SETNAME BBBB CCCCC

where, SETNAME is the name of the transformations set. You can choose any name you like.

BBBB and CCCCC is the transformation set. I recommend the use of “esp-3des esp-md5-hmac”. You can also use “esp-3des esp-sha-hmac”. Any one of these two will do the job.

6. After defining all the previous things, we need to create a cypto-map that associates the access-list to the other site and the transform set.

Router(config) #crypto map MAPNAME PRIORITY ipsec-isakmp

Router(config- crypto-map) #set peer XXX.XXX.XXX. XXX

Router(config- crypto-map) #set transform-set SETNAME

Router(config- crypto-map) #match address AAA

where,MAPNAME is a name of your choice to the crypto-map

PRIORITY is the priority of this map over other maps to the same destination. If this is your only crypto-map give it any number, for example 10.

XXX.XXX.XXX. XXX the static public IP address of the other end

SETNAME is the name of the transformations set that we configured in step 5

AAA is the number of the access-list that we created to define the traffic in step 4

7. The last step is to bind the crypto-map to the interface that connects the router to the other end.

Router(config- if)#crypto map MAPNAME

where MAPNAME is the name of the crypto-map that we defined in step 6.
Now, repeat these steps on the other end, and remember to use the same key along with the same authentication and transform set.

Note: If you want to implement multiple VPN connections to multiple sites, you can do this by repeating the steps 2 to 7 (except step 3) for each VPN connection. The different crypto-maps and their assignments differentiate between the different VPN connections.

For troubleshooting purposes, you can use the following commands,

show crypto isakmp sa

show crypto ipsec sa

show crypto engine connections active

and show crypto map
