Let’s start first what is CasaOS. As they define it, it is a community-based open-source software focused on delivering simple personal cloud experience around Docker ecosystem. It is very easy to install or deploy on your unused old machine and you can have your own server.

Installation is simple, basically if you run Linux distribution such as Debian, Ubuntu .. simple open terminal app and paste this line: curl -fsSL https://get.casaos.io | sudo bash

It will do the rest for you and install beautiful personals server where you can run bunch of different applications.

Here are steps how to gain access back to your CasaOS dashboard if you have forgotten or lost your password.

ssh or login to you host computer

open terminal app

use this command to reset your password

1

sudo bash -c "$(wget -qLO - https://raw.githubusercontent.com/bigbeartechworld/big-bear-scripts/master/reset-password-for-casaos/run.sh)"

You need to run in as a sudo user, it will download a script and ask you if you want really to change/update your CasaOS user. It takes maybe 2 seconds. Once completed you can go back to your login UI page for your CasaOS, enter username and you can now enter new password.

Once you click on CREATE, your new password will be updated, and you can now login with new password to your CasaOS dashboard an continue with your work.

The end of service date for different Windows 11 versions may vary.

Lifecycle FAQ – Windows

There are 2 ways to fix this issue for your Windows 11 22H2:

Option 1: Install 23H2 using Enablement Package

If your Windows 11 version is “22H2” and the build number is higher than “22621.2506”, you can install the enablement package, which easily upgrades the OS to 23H2.
Please see if you can install the enablement package, which upgrades the OS to 23H2.

Option 2: Upgrade to 24H2 using the ISO

1) Download Windows 11 Media Creation Tool (MCT) from this link
2) Run MCT and download the ISO it recommends for your system. Do *not* uncheck “Use the recommended options for this PC”.
3) Right-click on the downloaded ISO and choose “Mount.” This assigns the ISO a drive letter.
4) Run setup.exe from the ISO drive. This starts the in-place upgrade/repair installation.
(Your files, settings and applications will be preserved if you use the ISO recommended for your system by the Media Creation Tool.)

The BUSlink DSE-1TSDG2A is a portable external SSD drive designed for security-conscious users. In today’s data-driven world, having reliable and secure storage solutions is crucial. The BUSlink DSE-1TSDG2A is a 1TB external SSD that combines robust security features with portability.

Disk-On-The-Go drive delivers speed, size, and portability – all in a compact 2.5″ form factor metal alloy enclosure. Not only lightweight and portable, but with less plastic used, more recyclable and eco-friendly too. Plug-and-play installation means you can be using the drive within minutes after taking it out of the box. It is also backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen 1 and USB 2.0, so you don’t need to worry about not being able to use it with the previous generation’s USB system. The drive is perfect for anybody who is looking for a lightweight, fast, and reliable storage solution.

CipherShield drive safeguards and protects classified information when they are too important to be left in the hands of one individual. To gain access to the drive, authentication will be based on one unique Cipherkey. It requires one key to be plugged in all the time while working with the drive. It is like getting a safe deposit box that takes one key to open. It is suitable for group settings where more than one individual is working on highly confidential projects. i.e. blueprints for the company’s next new products, top secret programs, highly confidential legal cases, sensitive customer records, and financial information.

CipherShield design features a chip embedded in the access key which matches the AES encryption module on the controller board. The drive will automatically lock down its content once the key is unplugged, or power is shut off. Without the access key, data will not be seen or accessed in the event of theft or loss of the external drive. Data stored on the hard drive are safeguarded by a hardware-based National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) certified industrial strength AES (Advanced Encryption Standard) cryptographic engine.

Microsoft has provided few free built in tools in your Windows 11 that can help you to resolve many issues with the Windows 11 such as corrupted files. Some of those tools are chkdsk, DISM and SFC.

The “Deployment Image Servicing and Management” tool (DISM) is a helpful, but advanced tool to scan, alter, and repair any Windows 11 system issues. A lot of OS problems such as poor performance, boot-up issues or specific crashes can come down to a corrupted system file.

Before you run the DISM repair, it’s important that you run a disk check to spot and repair any issues in the file system. Not doing this will render the follow up DISM and SFC repairs useless.

How to run chkdsk tool ?

Open Command Prompt as administrator

Enter this command

Press Enter

1

chkdsk c: /f /r

You will then see a prompt to run this disk check on restart, type Y and press Enter again. From this point, when you restart the computer, it will perform the check.

The startup process will give you an option to skip the disk check if you need to get to Windows quickly. If you don’t need to open fast, do not interrupt the disk check and leave it to do its thing.

How to run DISM tool ?

Open Command Prompt as administrator

Enter this command

Press Enter

1

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth

This will command the DISM tool to do a quick sweep of the system and verify any corrupted data. More deep scan and identify corruptions you use different switch

1

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth

This will take some time, but will identify the specific file corruptions. If any corruption has been find run this command to fix it

1

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Just like ScanHealth, this will take some time, and it may look like it’s frozen when you see the % progress bar stop for a while. But trust the system — it’s downloading and replacing the corrupted files you find. Sit tight, it will take some time to complete.

The last free tool is SFC – System File Checker – If your issues are more about the setup of Windows itself, or if you want to double check that DISM did the trick, that’s where the System File Checker (SFC) comes in.

Open Command Prompt as administrator

Enter this command

Press Enter

1

SFC /scannow

This will do a sweep of everything and repair any system files using your (now fixed) local image files. Make sure that if any errors are found, you run it a couple more times. SFC /scannow has a bit of a reputation for not fixing much the first time around.

Sometimes you run and need to download and archive YouTube video because it is good content such as troubleshooting or step by step tutorials. There are various online tools or downloaders but they are not very reliable. I have found this tutorial where you can install the YouTube downloader on your Synology NAS in Docker and archive the videos or any audio for your needs. Installation of this DOCKER is very easy and simple in few steps.

Open File Station and create a main folder under docker and name in lowercase as youtubedl.

Under the main folder youtubedl, you will need to create these subfolders:

appdata

audio

subscriptions

users

video

Next stop is open Control Panel -> Scheduled Task – Create -> user-defined script

On first General tab, select user as root, uncheck box and name it as youtubedl.

Skip Schedule tab and under Task Settings add email if you configure email notifications (not required) and under Run command copy and paste this code:

1
2
3
4
5
6
7
8
9

docker run -d --name=youtube_downloader \
-p 8084:17442 \
-v /volume1/docker/youtubedl/appdata:/app/appdata \
-v /volume1/docker/youtubedl/audio:/app/audio \
-v /volume1/docker/youtubedl/subscriptions:/app/subscriptions \
-v /volume1/docker/youtubedl/users:/app/users \
-v /volume1/docker/youtubedl/video:/app/video \
--restart always \
tzahi12345/youtubedl-material

Whoogle is a free open-source self-hosted metasearch engine that allows you to search and get your Google results. However the Google search results are without any ads, JavaScript, AMP links, cookies, or IP address tracking. Easily deployable in one click as a Docker app, and customizable.

Features of Whoogle:

No ads or sponsored content.

No JavaScript.

No cookies.

No tracking/linking of your personal IP address.

No AMP links.

No URL tracking tags (i.e. utm=%s).

No referrer header.

POST request search queries (when possible).

View images at full res without site redirect (currently mobile only).

Dark mode option.

Randomly generated User Agent.

Easy to install/deploy.

Optional location-based searching (i.e. results near <city>).

Optional NoJS mode to disable all JavaScript in results.

Steps to deploy this in Docker on your Synology NAS are really simple:

No need to create any folder

Open Control Panel -> Task Scheduler -> click on Create

Click on Scheduled task -> User-defined script

General Tab – select user as a root, name it whoogle and uncheck the box

Skip Schedule tab

Task Settings -> enter email if you want received alerts (need to be configured on NAS)

Copy and paste the code
