Now your iPhone can scan barcodes, too

Today Occipital is announcing that RedLaser, the first accurate barcode scanner for the iPhone, is available on the iPhone App Store. RedLaser allows you to scan UPC and EAN codes with a bare iPhone (no special lens), and then perform an online product price lookup via Google Product Search. And since there’s an SDK, too, stay tuned for more applications powered by RedLaser. Read more at occipital.com/blog

The Boulder CTO Lunch meets once a month with a guest speaker and covers topics and questions that startup CTOs should find interesting. This lunch was originally started by a few members of TechStars and has been slowly expanding. This month, the group had Tim Wolters from Collective Intellect come lead the discussion. Tim is a serial entrepreneur currently working on using artificial intelligence and semantic analysis to extract knowledge from unstructured text found in social media.

So, I’m an entrepreneur in the start up stage of a social networking site but I am not a developer. I am self-funding my effort because I think I have a great idea that will quickly profitable based on all-that-i-know plus a few market analyses. In any case, I am trying to extend myself to some developers in effort to seduce them with my idea so that they may design my site without payment up front–in stead, within two months of our launch point. My question is are there any developers out there who have done this? who would ever do this? and under what circumstances would you consider doing this? Perhaps some form of partnership or other financial incentive may reasonably offset the delayed gratification. Thoughts and feedback?

Oh, and what’s the most decent way to approach a developer with the above in mind?
