Nokia is discontinuing it’s service Ovi Contacts for general public, The service will stay but you won’t be able to access your address book from the web browser… After January 24, 2012 You will no longer be able to view your contacts on the web.

Syncing &  Backup will continue to work normally & you will not loose any of your contacts but you will be unable to view them from the website.

The address book of your Nokia handset (I am talking about the new Nokia Phones which are supported by Ovi Store) is stored in the online Ovi Contacts, Same as Android phones use Google Contacts to store your Contacts Online. but Nokia Ovi Contacts has only 1 limitation.

Until now, Nokia Ovi offered no export feature so there was no easy way to download your Nokia Phone’s address book from the web to any computer unless you had a Nokia device at hand. The Ovi Suite (Nokia’s desktop synchronization software) didn’t have an export option for Contacts either so your phone contacts were sort-of locked in Nokia’s cloud.

Nokia has set up a microsite – exportcontacts.ovi.com – where you can download your entire Ovi address book in the popular CSV format with just a click. You don’t need the Nokia device or the Ovi desktop suite to export your contacts. The CSV file can can then be imported into Google Contacts.

If you are a Nokia user, You have to hurry up, because according to an email from Nokia, the web access to Ovi Contacts will be disable after January 24, 2012.

How Google calculated all this

To compile the 2011 Year-End Zeitgeist, we studied the aggregation of billions of queries people typed into Google search this year. We use data from multiple sources, including Insights for Search and internal data tools. We also filter out spam and repeat queries to build out lists that best reflect the spirit of the times. All of the search queries we studied are anonymous—no personal information was used.

A word about how we describe the lists: except where noted, all of these search terms are most popular for 2011—ranked in order of the queries with the largest volume of searches this year. In some cases, we list the “fastest rising” queries, which means we found the most popular searches conducted in 2011 and then ranked them based on how much their popularity increased compared to 2010. Conversely, “fastest falling” queries were very popular in 2010 but flattened in popularity in 2011.

1 ) Rebecca Black

made a big splash on the Internet with the release of her 2011 pop single “Friday.

”The music video catapulted the then 13-year-old to celebrity status after the video

went viral, receiving over 167 million views on YouTube.

Searches for Rebecca Black and related searches like Rebecca Black Friday jumped >10,000% between 2010 and 2011, making the young pop singer the #1 fastest rising search on Google in 2011

2 ) Google+

In June 2011, Google entered the social networking space with the launch of Google+. In the three weeks following its announcement, Google+ amassed a user base of more than 10 million people.

The social network grabbed the #2 spot on Google’s list of fastest rising searches after Google+ and related searches like Google Plus shot up by >10,000%.

3 ) Ryan Dunn

Best known for his daredevil stunts on the reality TV shows “Jackass” and “Viva La Bam,” Ryan Dunn lost his life in a car accident on June 20, 2011 at the age of 34.

The volume of searches for Ryan Dunn grew >10,000% in 2011, making the Ohio native the third fastest rising search on Google. Believe it or not, some American news outlets questioned whether the reality star’s death was the most elaborate “Jackass” prank ever.

4 ) Case Anthony

Young mother Casey Anthony was charged with first-degree murder when the remains of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee were found in a wooded area near her home in Orlando, Florida. A jury found her not guilty on July 5, 2011.

Searches for Casey Anthony and related searches like Casey Anthony Case grew 2,680% from 2010 to 2011, putting her into the #4 spot of fastest rising searches on Google.

5 ) Battlefield 3

The highly anticipated release of EA’s first-person shooter video game, Battlefield 3, sold 5 million copies in its first week.

Searches for Battlefield 3 and related searches BF3 jumped 1,773% between 2010 and 2011, making this action game the #5 fastest rising search on Google in 2011.

6 ) iPhone 5

Consumers and analysts alike anticipated the release of Apple’s newest smartphone many months prior to its arrival. Rumored features included a larger screen, edge-to-edge glass, an 8 megapixel camera, and extensive voice controls. Many believed the phone would be called the iPhone 5.

Searches for iPhone 5 rose 1,658% between 2010 and 2011, making the rumored smartphone the #6 fastest rising search on Google.

7 ) Adele

Adele rocked the music industry with the release of her sophomore album “21,” which sold 208,000 copies in the UK in its first week and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart for 16 consecutive weeks. The album catapulted the 22-year-old to record-breaking success and international acclaim.

Searches for Adele rose 1,588% between 2010 and 2011, making the singer the 7th top rising search on Google.

8 ) Fukushima

The Japanese government ordered the evacuation of thousands of residents living near the Fukushima I (TEPCO) Fukushima I Plant after the 2011 earthquake badly damaged several nuclear reactors.

The utility company reached an all-time high in searches the week of March 13, 2011, two days after the 9.0 earthquake shook Japan and international relief efforts and support poured in from around the world.

9 ) Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs inspired millions of people around the world with his passion and creativity. The technological visionary revolutionized the way people live and work with the aid of Mac computers, iPods, iPhones, and iPads.

Searches for Steve Jobs grew 982% in 2011, making the creative genius the 9th fastest rising search on Google.

10 ) iPad2

iPad 2 took the world by storm when 500,000 of the second-generation tablets were sold on their debut weekend. Seen as a sleeker, lightweight alternative to its predecessor, iPad 2 sold out across virtually all channels in its first week.

Searches for iPad 2 rose 939% between from 2010 to 2011, making the tablet the 10th fastest rising search on Google.

Here comes a simple question How to disable Facebook Timeline.. Many people around me don’t like the new Facebook timeline, and they want to get their old profile back.

Some weeks back, Facebook rolled out its new Timeline feature to all of it’s users. Some like me are loving this Timeline & some are hating it. The new Facebook Timeline layout offers new and interesting features, some users on Facebook are finding it too complicated & some of the Annoyed users are dreadfully finding ways to disable and get rid of this Facebook Timeline feature.

Some months back Facebook released a Developer application through which users can enable Facebook Timeline and test it. The Users who activated this only had the option to downgrade by simply deleting that app they created while enabling Timeline from Developer Setting Page.

Now that the Timeline feature  has been released for all users, Facebook stated that it will go live automatically after seven days, no matter if you like it or not. Unfortunately, there is no way you can disable it.

Once you click “Get Timeline,” you will have seven days to review everything that appears on your timeline before anyone else can see it.

If you choose, you can publish your timeline right away. If you decide to wait, your timeline will go live automatically after seven days. Your timeline will replace your profile.

Eventually everyone on Facebook will be rolled over to timeline.

So, the simple answer is you cannot disable Facebook timeline.. You have no choice so better start loving this feature

Web giant Google has released the latest version of its web browser – Google Chrome 16 (Google Chrome build 16). With Chrome 16, each user can have a personalized experience. Different accounts can be created and signing-in multiple accounts is possible, with each account having its own apps, add-ons, bookmarks and history. User profiles are no more linked to a computer’s in built user accounts, but can be easily accessed from and switched within Chrome. Switching between different accounts is simple – one can simply choose the account to which one wants to switch from a list in the browser. A new user can be added to Chrome by navigating through Options >> Personal Stuff >> Add new user. The username and related icon for a new user can be changed by going to the Personal Stuff menu in the new window. The other advantage of signing into a Chrome profile is that the apps and add-ons from one account can be accessed from any computer. Multi-user feature is similar to Chrome’s Sync functionality, but it is an optional feature rather than a must-use feature. Sync gives a user access to his or her bookmarks, history, themes & preferences. Multiple-user feature enables users to share the same computer but maintain different identities without having to log out of the operating system.

However, it must be kept in mind that it is very easy for one user to see the preferences of another user as it is a matter of simply switching tabs. For protecting data from being seen by another use, the in-built user accounts functionality of the operating system must be used. The ability to support multiple accounts does not ensure data security and privacy. Therefore though the synced data might be secure on Google’s server, any user can switch profiles and access another user’s personal “stuff”. This is much less secure and private than mandating people to re-enter passwords for verification before opening another profile. Let’s hope that we see this feature in the next version of Chrome which would not just focus on multiple account sign-in and syncing data but also on security and privacy which Google respects a lot.

Chrome has been the favorite of most people owing to its agility and nimbleness. It has always loaded fast and did not block system resources. It was also adjudged as the most secure web browser in a recent study. With features such as ability to carry personal browser data on the go and multiple user log-ins, Google has proved its forte with web browsers. It will not be a big surprise if other browsers come up with similar features in the next six months.

The new version of Chrome can be installed by clicking on “About Google Chrome” in the Tools menu. It can also be downloaded from the official Chrome website and then installed on the computer.
