No real change, if anything a minimal increase in battery life as the OS is on the SSD. So most reads and writes came off the low power consumption SSD rather than the hard drive.

Sorry about the late response. I have not noticed any temperature increase when both drives are in the unit. I have not tried to spin the drive down by un-mounting it. I would guess you would get minimal additional battery life by doing it as the drive still has power going to it even though the drive is not spinning. I have not had any issues doing this since I installed the second drive.

The sizing isn't even European ... I'd call it just proprietary to the Vibram Five Fingers line.

14.5 -- Those are big feet!

Welcome to the five fingers fan community! -- at least, I assume you're already a fan :)

Thanks for the video!

Have you noticed if the MacBook gets hotter than with one drive, or if the battery does not last as long?

And what happens if you "disconnect" the 2nd drive in Finder - does it spin down and not use any power? I guess it can still be re-mounted using Disk Utility?

Thinking about adding a 1TB drive to the 320GB I have. Then I can have my entire image archive with me at all times :-)

John,
Like yourself I'd been a PC user who made the switch to the Apple. However yesterday I had to drag out my PC laptop in order to use a terminal session with the Alix board. No matter what I tried according to your suggestions my Mac Pro laptop could not establish a session with the Alix board. I ended using HyperTerminal on the PC laptop. Which USB to DB9 connector/cable were you using? I did note that the Cables Unlimited connector I was using required the loading of its drivers before it would work with my PC. Thanks for any assistance offered

They feel great and I really look forward to wearing them. If I could get away wearing them to my client locations I would. I have one Insurance firm that actually knew I bought them and said they wouldn't mind me wearing them in the office. I have had no issues with them at all. I was a little concerned because I have a little bit of a claw on two of my toes due to nerve damage in my right foot from surgeries as a kid. It is slight clawing and I am doing exercises to help with that. I actually feel the shoe helps that because the toes get to move as they don't do in a conventional shoe. I would recommending them though if you have severe clawing or hammer toe. As far a sizing I have two different size feet again from surgery as a child which stunted the growth in my right foot. I wound up by two pairs a 47 and a 46. The place I went to had a special measuring device that was dead on. If you buy them make sure that your toes are not bumping at the end of the shoe and you are good to go.

BTW, I loved them so much I dragged my wife into the city to buy a pair for herself. She loves them and wears them a lot. She is lucky she is double jointed in her toes so she can do some pretty funky things with them. It is really easy for her to put them on even for the first time. Don't be put off if it is hard to put them on the first couple of times it was for me but it is easy now. Also the first couple of days using them your feet will be sore. You are not used to walking all over town barefoot. You will get used to it quickly, I did.

What size and model did you buy ?(I too have a large foot 13 extra wide in New Balance)
If you have a 14 and found one that works I am very interested in what you bought.
Thank you

I'm interested in what you think of them in a few weeks. I've thought about them because I have wide feet and until recently it's been tough to find comfortable shoes. I've also wondered if shoes cause more problems than they solve. I've hiked up hilly and rocky trails wearing only sandals and it felt better than boots because it let my feet do the work they were made for.

Well, me being his Hispanic, there isn't a lack of slurs said to me or my buddies on Live. I ignore them and keep playing. People need to get with the times and learn racial slurs are out-dated. I've heard people call John the N- word once. Lol, so, "F" those people.

I see both veiws on this
understanding being a girl on live can be frustrating with all the guys.
For many games party chat is fine.
But for a select few of games, it is a horrible thing, when i play w@w and in a game where dead men tell no tales party chat totatlly defeats the purpose of the game.I think jon is right, you should be able to have the option to play in a room without party chat.

Sup, Doc. You know I feel your frustration on this subject cause we play on CoD5 every night and we've gamed since our Evil Smurf days on the PC.

I agree wit the ladies on this cause there are guys on Live, who acted like horny bastards that never get "Any." So, this is something for them to get away from those guys. I, personally, respect the lady gamers cause there are not part of the 'norm' and like to play video games and don't like to be treated like they do on Live and/or PSN, and like the ladies, people who speak a different language, i.e. spanish, are subject to the bs of people who need to stfu and realize that its racists and are making an arse outta themselfs. So, when I play wit my Puerto Rican friends who live on the island and speak only spanish we are in party chat.

The party chat has ruinned the Search and Destroy mode on CoD5, IMO. In CoD4, before Party Chat, we u died, you couldn't tell your friends where you died at and not give your teammates that are still alive "eyes behind their head." In CoD5, its hell to play S&D because the mode is not being played like it was intended with the "death mute."

I agree with both, Doc and the ladies who replied.

My 2 Cents,
RiCaN

So your trying to blame losing matches on party chat.
When really the people that are in Party Chat are playing the game exactly as it would happen in a tournament LAN-style. If we were to sit down, play rounds in a tourney- I'd be able to turn to you and tell you where I was killed from. How is this different than party chat?

If your team is communicating effectively and following strats, your teammates should know where you've been killed at and know where the commonly camped areas are.

I don't care for W@W at all and hence don't own it, I play CoD4 primarily. Your more than welcome to come play a few rounds with us to discover one of the main reasons party chat was invented.

The invitation goes out to you as well to join me and my friends who play Call of Duty:WAW nightly for hours at a time. Maybe it is not as bad in Halo, but play just a couple of rounds with a team that is in Party Chat and you will quickly realize our frustration. These comments are also coming from good players that have very good rankings. Were not looking for excuses when we lose we know exactly why we lose particular matches and it hinges on Party Chatting 80% of the time.

My Xbox Live Gamertag is 'PC Doc' if you would like to take us up on that offer.
