The release of iOS 6.1.3 fixed numbers of bugs and also patched the exploits used by Evasi0n jailbreak. So, if you’ve upgraded to iOS 6.1.3, you might not be able to jailbreak unless its an A4 device. Furthermore, there won’t be untethered jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 at all.

You can however untethered jailbreak earlier versions including iOS 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 on all Apple devices using evasi0n jailbreak.

This post shows how to tethered jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 on A4 devices using Redsn0w. So, it only supports the following devices:

iPhone 4 GSM/CDMA

iPhone 3GS

iPod Touch 4G

The following devices are not supported:

iPhone 5

iPhone 4S

iPad Mini

iPad 3 & 2

iPad 4 (the one with A6X chip and Retina Display)

iPod Touch 5G

Again, this is NOT untethered jailbreak. So you’ll need to boot your device using Redsn0w from computer everytime you restart your Apple device. You can also install from Cydia, the semi-tethered jailbreak tweak which will enable your device reboot without a computer, but your device will have limited functionality.

Here’s the steps to tethered jailbreak your Apple device using Redsn0w 0.9.15b3.

1. Download the following required files and tools:

Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 (Windows | Mac)

iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file (not 6.1.3) below:

iPhone 4 GSM / CDMA

iPhone 3GS

iPod Touch 4G

2. Run Redsn0w and go to ‘Extras’.

3. Select IPSW and locate it to the iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file. After choosing the right file, click ‘Back’ button which will return you to the main menu.

4. Click ‘Jailbreak’ and make sure you select ‘Install Cydia’.

5. Now you need to put your device into DFU mode. To do this, press and hold ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ buttons together for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release power button and hold only home button for next 10-15 seconds.

6. If you’ve put your device into DFU mode correctly, the jailbreaking process will begin. After the process is complete, your device will reboot. Your device is now successfully jailbroken using Redsn0w.

7. One more step, since its tethered jailbreak, you’ll finally need to tethered boot it. So, run Redsn0w again, click ‘Extras’, select iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file and click ‘Just Boot’. Again to put your device into DFU, do same as above.

That’s it. If you encounter problems, let me know in the comments section below.

Facebook has unveiled a new launcher-app for Android called ‘Home’ which was announced today by Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg. It turns your phone into a great social device giving you more power to share and be more open and connected to the Facebook.

Facebook Home isn’t an ordinary app but acts as a social layer between your Apps and OS of the phone and provides access to Facebook features. The app launcher transforms your phone’s home screen to ‘Cover Feed’. It is just like news feed but a swipe-able version. You can like a post by double-tapping on the screen or you can comment by tapping a button. Photos and status updates both are visually rich in case of presentation.

Home Screen and Chat Heads

‘Chat Heads’, yes that’s the name of another new feature included in ‘Home’ which changes the way people have been messaging using phone. It is a perfect version of messaging with smart notifications showing friend’s picture. Now you can chat with friends when using an app without having to switch between apps.

Facebook Home really seems to change the feel of your phone. You can ofcourse have access to your usual apps by showing a small menu on Cover Feed. The Home can be downloaded on some Android devices including HTC One, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But ‘HTC First’ from AT&T will be the first phone to have Facebook Home pre-installed. You can pre-order HTC’s new phone which will start shipping from April 12 for $99.99. Also, Home can be downloaded from Play Store starting from April 12 or if you have the latest Facebook and Messenger app, then you’ll be reminded.

We’ll not be expecting Facebook Home on iOS as Apple doesn’t allow launcher apps which tweaks phones. There are 750 million Android users which Facebook is targeting with Home. You can find the official info page here.

Also, you can watch the Facebook Home Ad below.

Apple has paid $21 Million to Swiss Federal Railways so they can use the railway’s clock design in iOS 6.

With many new features, Apple also released a new clock for the iPad version of iOS 6 back in September. But the design of the clock was claimed to be copied from the Swiss Federal Railways. So the Swiss Federal were going to sue Apple, but the tech giant agreed to pay 21 million dollar to license the use of clock’s design in iOS 6.

Clock at Swiss Federal Railways

The local Swiss publication reported this news and much more detail about this issue such as terms & conditions are still unknown.

For Apple, which is multi-billion dollar company, $21 million might not be a huge sum of money. But it seems a terrible amount just for the use of clock icon. Instead of wasting that money, Apple could have just designed a new clock.

If just a clock design is worth this, imagine how much money is involved when companies go after each other in patent war with hardware & software elements or devices. No wonder Samsung paid one billion some months back due to patent void issue with Apple.

So, what do you think. Was it worth for Apple to pay?

Sn0wBreeze, the popular iOS jailbreak tool for windows has been updated and made available for download by iH8sn0w with support for iOS 6 and iOS 6.0.1, both of them being tethered jailbreak. If you’re looking for untethered jailbreak, then you’ll have to wait longer.

Again, like other iOS 6 jailbreak, this one is also limited to Apple’s A4 devices. The new Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 supports iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS…, but doesn’t support iOS 6 jailbreak for devices like iPad 2 (A5 device) and iPhone 5 (A6 device).

So, the latest sn0wbreeze is for jailbreaking iOS 6 only on the older devices. You can read the full update log here on official iH8sn0w blog post.

This jailbreak supports only the following Apple A4 devices:

iPhone 4

iPhone 3GS

iPhone 3G

iPad 1

iPod Touch 3G

iPod Touch 4G

Here’s the instructions for how to jailbreak them using snowbreeze 2.9.7:

1. Download Snowbreeze 2.9.7 from HERE.

2. Extract the zip file and run sn0wbreeze.

3. Click Okay, then Next and locate your iOS 6 IPSW file. If you don’t have the file, you can download required IPSW file by clicking ‘Download IOS Firmwares’.

4. If you’re file is verified successfully, then click Next.

5. Select ‘Simple Mode’. This builds a custom firmware file and will place it on your desktop when completed. Select ‘Hactivation’ too.

6. Click OK. Then, put your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch into DFU mode and click Start which puts it into Pwned DFU mode. Your device’s screen may turn black but its okay.

7. After PwnedDFU is done, launch iTunes. It will detect your device. Fron the list, select your appropriate device and while holding ‘Shift Key’ on keyboard, click ‘Restore’. Then locate the Custom IPSW file which was created by Sn0wbreeze in desktop. Click OK.

8. Your device will be restored by iTunes using custom IPSW file. You’ll also see a snow flake icon on the screen while your device restores.

9. After restore is finished, go to Home screen in your Apple device. You should be able to see ‘Cydia’ icon. But you cannot use it yet as this is tethered jailbreak. So, you’ll need to tethered boot your iDevice.

10. To do so, put your device in DFU mode again.

11. Run iBooty from desktop of your computer.

12. Now, open Cydia on your device. If it works, then your device is successfully jailbroken with snowbreeze on iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1.

That’s all you need to do. If you encounter with any problem, do comment below.

It is similar to the normal iPad but this one is a smaller version of it.

iPad Mini has a beautiful display of 7.9 inch with 163 ppi resolution which works with a powerful A5 chip. It sports FaceTime HD camera too on facing side and iSight camera with 1080p HD video on the back side. The wireless is ultrafast. More than 275,000 apps including Siri are available for iPad Mini as all previous iPad apps are compatible with it.

Let’s look at the iPad Mini specs in detail.

iPad Mini Design – Screen, thickness & lightness

iPad mini has 7.9 inch display with LED-backlit screen. Web browsing experience is good despite smaller screen. Apple’s improved Maps looks good even on iPad Mini. Viewing photos and videos are all of comfort. FaceTime call support gives iPad Mini a truely iPad experience.

iPad mini is also thin and light. It is just 7.2mm thin and incredibly light. Its feels easy to hold as it weighs 0.68 lb. iPad Mini is 23% thinner than iPad and 53% lighter than iPad.

iPad Mini Display

Performance – Processor Chip, Battery Life

iPad Mini looks smaller but its performance is bigger and is quite impressive. It works with powerful A5 chip. It is fast and makes everything smooth and natural. Browsing through pages and switching of apps or editing photos and watching movies, playing games, etc. in iPad Mini wouldn’t be disappointing says Apple.

Even when such a great performance is added into iPad Mini, it gets 10 hour battery life with a single full charge.

iPad Mini Performance

Now, we can jailbreak iOS 6 using Redsn0w 0.9.15b2, the latest version of Redsn0w. It can jailbreak any Apple A4 devices (iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, iPad 1 and iPod Touch 4G) running iOS 6.

The new Redsn0w fixes many issues related to iPhone 3GS and iPad but most importantly Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 can do iOS 6 jailbreak as well as install Cydia on all A4 devices. Cydia will be installed automatically unlike previous version’s manual Cydia installation. Using this Redsn0w, you don’t need to point out to the iOS 6 IPSW file, instead it recognizes your iOS details and automatically downloads the required files to jailbreak. You can do it manually too if you want.

This jailbreak for iOS 6 is supported on following A4 Apple devices:

iPhone 4

iPhone 3GS

iPhone 3G

iPad 1

iPod Touch 3G

iPod Touch 4G

Jailbreak for iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, the new iPad and iPod Touch 5G (A5 devices) running iOS 6 hasn’t been released, so we’ll have to wait if you’re looking to jailbreak these devices.

Also, this is a tethered jailbreak. If you’re looking for untethered jailbreak on iOS 6 then wait for its release.

Here’s step-by-step instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 6 in above mentioned Apple devices:

1. Download the latest Redsn0w from here for Windows (run in Administrator mode) and here for Mac.

2. If you haven’t updated your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 6, then download iOS 6 from here and upgrade your device to iOS 6.

3. Open Redsn0w. Click on ‘Jailbreak’ and then, make sure you select ‘Cydia’.

4. Next, you need to put your device into DFU mode. To do so, just follow the on-screen instructions.

5. After putting your device into the DFU mode, Redsn0w starts the jailbreak process which uses limera1n exploit.

iOS 6 after Jailbreak

6. When the jailbreak completes, Home screen is displayed on your device. But its not complete yet.

7. You need to do a tethered boot. To do so, get you deviced into DFU mode again. Then go to Redsn0w main screen. Select ‘Extras’ and click ‘Just Boot’.

That’s it. Your device will be successfully jailbroken after a tethered boot and you’ll also see Cydia icon on the Home Screen.

The new iOS 6 is supported to run on iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPod Touch 4G, the new iPod Touch 5G, iPad 2 and the new iPad/iPad 3.

So, what’s new in iOS 6? Apple announced that iOS 6 has over 200 new features including new Apple Maps, deep Facebook integration, an upgraded and much smarter version of Siri and improvement in apps such as Shared Photo Streams, Passbook, Mail, Safari, Facetime, etc.

Here’s the iOS 6 features in detail.

The new Apple Maps

Maps take a huge turn on iOS 6 as its completely designed by Apple from the beginning. You can get turn by turn voice directions. It has smooth 3D views along with incredible Flyover feature. The design is all vector based giving crystal clear graphics. The navigation is very comfortable and easy. Get traffic info in real time and you can also calculate estimate time to reach your destination in such traffic. Maps are integrated with Siri support too.

iOS 6 - Apple Maps

Facebook integration in iOS 6

With Facebook integration into iOS 6, its now extremely easy to socialize your iOS content on Facebook. No need to stop and close what you’re using. Share a photo directly from Camera or Photo viewer. Make a location update via Maps. Game updates can also be made directly. And whats better than to post an update using Siri. Facebook events get pinned into the iOS Calender. Contacts are syncronised with Facebook Friends. And there’s more to do with Apps and Music.

iOS 6 Facebook Integration

Shared Photo Streams

With this tool, you can share photos easily to desired audience. You can select photos from Photos App and use Share option to choose the audience and they’ll be shared. But the photos are shared within Apple Devices or using internet. If iCloud on iOS 6 or Mountain Lion Mac is used, then Photos are delivered directly into the Photo App or iPhoto. These photos then can be viewed on Apple TV as well. If not using Apple device, then photos can be viewed on web. Photos can be liked and commented. iCloud Storage will not be effected by this and it works over Wi-Fi and carrier networks as well.

iOS 6 - Shared Photo Streams

Passbook

Another new feature of iOS 6 is Passbook, which is just like a ticket which can be used as boarding pass, card, coupon, movie tickets, etc. all in one. Passbook App feature of iOS 6 can be used to buy movie tickets or get a flight ticket and all those similar things. We can also see the expiring dates, or the seat details or the coupon details. Passbook gives alerts and notification on your Lock Screen right when you need to use tickets based on your location.

iOS 6 - Passbook App

FaceTime

Now, you can use FaceTime using cellular as well as Wi-Fi connection. FaceTime calls can be made or received anytime and anywhere. This App can also be used on iPad using a phone number. So, it runs on all Apple Devices too.

iOS 6 - Facetime App

There’s now ‘Do Not Disturb’ option which lets you ignore the call automatically but with exception for your custom selected list of contacts.

Phone App on iOS 6

Mail App for Email Messages

Camera App now the Panorama shots

The new iOS 6 features a new Camera App which now supports Panorama shots. Its for iPhone and iPod Touch. A special simple motion can click a photo with 240 degrees angle wide, both vertically and horizontally. This is done by the work of hardware and software together to create a crisp panorama image. It is also capable of merging different shots and producing a 28 megapixel panorama image.

Camera App - Panorama Feature

Along with these, Safari browsing is improved with iCloud integration. The browsing can be syncronised through all Apple devices: iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch. Save web pages for your Reading List. Full webpage can be easily viewed with better UI. iOS 6 features improved Guided Accessibility so that it can be experienced with an ease for disabled people having problem with vision, hearing or learning. Find My iPhone will search your lost iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch with the help of iCloud. With Find My Friends, now good friends aren’t hard to find. Apple has a completely re-designed store which is coming this October.
The jailbreak tool was updated to Redsn0w 0.9.13dev4. Also note that this is a tethered jailbreak. So you’ll have to connect your Apple device to computer everytime you reboot it. We’ll have to wait a bit longer for the untethered iOS 6 jailbreak.

It supports following Apple iOS devices:

iPhone 4

iPhone 3GS

iPod Touch 4G.

It doesn’t support following non-A4 iOS devices:

iPhone 4S

iPad 3 (the new iPad)

iPad 2

Also, this jailbreak won’t install Cydia but it will enable SSH access on iPhone and iPod Touch.

Here’s how to jailbreak iOS 6 GM using Redsnow 0.9.13dev4.

1. Download iOS 6 GM IPSW file from here.

2. Restore iOS 6 GM on your Apple device by downloading latest iTunes from here.

3. Download Redsn0w 0.9.13dev14 for Windows here OR for Mac HERE.

4. Run Redsn0w. Go to ‘Extras’. Then ‘Select IPSW’ and locate the iOS 6 GM IPSW file.

5. After selecting the IPSW file, go back and click ‘Jailbreak’. Check ‘Install SSH’ option too.

6. Follow on-screen steps which will get your device into DFU mode and the jailbreak process will begin.

7. This is a tethered jailbreak. So you’ll need to perform a tethered boot. To do so, go to Redsn0w main screen. Select ‘Extras’ and click ‘Just Boot’.

Your iPhone or iPod Touch is now successfully jailbroken. You’ll be able to access your device using SSH protocol. You can install any thing that jailbreak supports, very useful for developers. Enjoy!

Also, the final iOS 6 version will be released on 19 September. So we’ll be expecting Redsnow update which would also include Cydia for all the users.
