You can however untethered jailbreak earlier versions including iOS 6.0.1, 6.0.2, 6.1, 6.1.1 and 6.1.2 on all Apple devices using evasi0n jailbreak.

This post shows how to tethered jailbreak iOS 6.1.3 on A4 devices using Redsn0w. So, it only supports the following devices:

• iPhone 4 GSM/CDMA
• iPhone 3GS
• iPod Touch 4G

The following devices are not supported:

• iPhone 5
• iPhone 4S
• iPad Mini
• iPad 3 & 2
• iPad 4 (the one with A6X chip and Retina Display)
• iPod Touch 5G

Again, this is NOT untethered jailbreak. So you’ll need to boot your device using Redsn0w from computer everytime you restart your Apple device. You can also install from Cydia, the semi-tethered jailbreak tweak which will enable your device reboot without a computer, but your device will have limited functionality.

Here’s the steps to tethered jailbreak your Apple device using Redsn0w 0.9.15b3.

1. Download the following required files and tools:

• Redsn0w 0.9.15b3 (Windows | Mac)
• iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file (not 6.1.3) below:
• iPhone 4 GSM / CDMA
• iPhone 3GS
• iPod Touch 4G

2. Run Redsn0w and go to ‘Extras’.

3. Select IPSW and locate it to the iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file. After choosing the right file, click ‘Back’ button which will return you to the main menu.

4. Click ‘Jailbreak’ and make sure you select ‘Install Cydia’.

5. Now you need to put your device into DFU mode. To do this, press and hold ‘Home’ and ‘Power’ buttons together for 10 seconds. After 10 seconds, release power button and hold only home button for next 10-15 seconds.

6. If you’ve put your device into DFU mode correctly, the jailbreaking process will begin. After the process is complete, your device will reboot. Your device is now successfully jailbroken using Redsn0w.

7. One more step, since its tethered jailbreak, you’ll finally need to tethered boot it. So, run Redsn0w again, click ‘Extras’, select iOS 6.0 IPSW firmware file and click ‘Just Boot’. Again to put your device into DFU, do same as above.

Facebook Home isn’t an ordinary app but acts as a social layer between your Apps and OS of the phone and provides access to Facebook features. The app launcher transforms your phone’s home screen to ‘Cover Feed’. It is just like news feed but a swipe-able version. You can like a post by double-tapping on the screen or you can comment by tapping a button. Photos and status updates both are visually rich in case of presentation.

‘Chat Heads’, yes that’s the name of another new feature included in ‘Home’ which changes the way people have been messaging using phone. It is a perfect version of messaging with smart notifications showing friend’s picture. Now you can chat with friends when using an app without having to switch between apps.

Facebook Home really seems to change the feel of your phone. You can ofcourse have access to your usual apps by showing a small menu on Cover Feed. The Home can be downloaded on some Android devices including HTC One, HTC One X, Samsung Galaxy S3, S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 2. But ‘HTC First’ from AT&T will be the first phone to have Facebook Home pre-installed. You can pre-order HTC’s new phone which will start shipping from April 12 for $99.99. Also, Home can be downloaded from Play Store starting from April 12 or if you have the latest Facebook and Messenger app, then you’ll be reminded.

We’ll not be expecting Facebook Home on iOS as Apple doesn’t allow launcher apps which tweaks phones. There are 750 million Android users which Facebook is targeting with Home. You can find the official info page here.

Clock in iOS 6

Apple has paid $21 Million to Swiss Federal Railways so they can use the railway’s clock design in iOS 6.

With many new features, Apple also released a new clock for the iPad version of iOS 6 back in September. But the design of the clock was claimed to be copied from the Swiss Federal Railways. So the Swiss Federal were going to sue Apple, but the tech giant agreed to pay 21 million dollar to license the use of clock’s design in iOS 6.

The local Swiss publication reported this news and much more detail about this issue such as terms & conditions are still unknown.

For Apple, which is multi-billion dollar company, $21 million might not be a huge sum of money. But it seems a terrible amount just for the use of clock icon. Instead of wasting that money, Apple could have just designed a new clock.

If just a clock design is worth this, imagine how much money is involved when companies go after each other in patent war with hardware & software elements or devices. No wonder Samsung paid one billion some months back due to patent void issue with Apple.

So, what do you think. Was it worth for Apple to pay?

Again, like other iOS 6 jailbreak, this one is also limited to Apple’s A4 devices. The new Sn0wbreeze 2.9.7 supports iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS…, but doesn’t support iOS 6 jailbreak for devices like iPad 2 (A5 device) and iPhone 5 (A6 device).

This jailbreak supports only the following Apple A4 devices:

• iPhone 4

•  iPad 1
•  iPod Touch 3G
•  iPod Touch 4G

Here’s the instructions for how to jailbreak them using snowbreeze 2.9.7:

1. Download Snowbreeze 2.9.7 from HERE.

2. Extract the zip file and run sn0wbreeze.

3. Click Okay, then Next and locate your iOS 6 IPSW file. If you don’t have the file, you can download required IPSW file by clicking ‘Download IOS Firmwares’.

4. If you’re file is verified successfully, then click Next.

5. Select ‘Simple Mode’. This builds a custom firmware file and will place it on your desktop when completed. Select ‘Hactivation’ too.

6. Click OK. Then, put your iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch into DFU mode and click Start which puts it into Pwned DFU mode. Your device’s screen may turn black but its okay.

7. After PwnedDFU is done, launch iTunes. It will detect your device. Fron the list, select your appropriate device and while holding ‘Shift Key’ on keyboard, click ‘Restore’. Then locate the Custom IPSW file which was created by Sn0wbreeze in desktop. Click OK.

8. Your device will be restored by iTunes using custom IPSW file. You’ll also see a snow flake icon on the screen while your device restores.

9. After restore is finished, go to Home screen in your Apple device. You should be able to see ‘Cydia’ icon. But you cannot use it yet as this is tethered jailbreak. So, you’ll need to tethered boot your iDevice.

10. To do so, put your device in DFU mode again.

11. Run iBooty from desktop of your computer.

12. Now, open Cydia on your device. If it works, then your device is successfully jailbroken with snowbreeze on iOS 6 or iOS 6.0.1.

The new Redsn0w fixes many issues related to iPhone 3GS and iPad but most importantly Redsn0w 0.9.15b2 can do iOS 6 jailbreak as well as install Cydia on all A4 devices. Cydia will be installed automatically unlike previous version’s manual Cydia installation. Using this Redsn0w, you don’t need to point out to the iOS 6 IPSW file, instead it recognizes your iOS details and automatically downloads the required files to jailbreak. Here’s step-by-step instructions on how to jailbreak iOS 6 in above mentioned Apple devices:

1. Download the latest Redsn0w from here for Windows (run in Administrator mode) and here for Mac.

2. If you haven’t updated your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch to iOS 6, then download iOS 6 from here and upgrade your device to iOS 6.

3. Open Redsn0w. Click on ‘Jailbreak’ and then, make sure you select ‘Cydia’.

4. Next, you need to put your device into DFU mode. To do so, just follow the on-screen instructions.

5. After putting your device into the DFU mode, Redsn0w starts the jailbreak process which uses limera1n exploit.

6. When the jailbreak completes, Home screen is displayed on your device. But its not complete yet.

7. You need to do a tethered boot. To do so, get you deviced into DFU mode again. Then go to Redsn0w main screen. Select ‘Extras’ and click ‘Just Boot’.

That’s it. Your device will be successfully jailbroken after a tethered boot and you’ll also see Cydia icon on the Home Screen.

1. Download iOS 6 GM IPSW file from here.

2. Restore iOS 6 GM on your Apple device by downloading latest iTunes from here.

3. Download Redsn0w 0.9.13dev14 for Windows here OR for Mac HERE.

4. Run Redsn0w. Go to ‘Extras’. Then ‘Select IPSW’ and locate the iOS 6 GM IPSW file.

5. After selecting the IPSW file, go back and click ‘Jailbreak’. Check ‘Install SSH’ option too.

6. Follow on-screen steps which will get your device into DFU mode and the jailbreak process will begin.

7. This is a tethered jailbreak. So you’ll need to perform a tethered boot. To do so, go to Redsn0w main screen. Select ‘Extras’ and click ‘Just Boot’.

Your iPhone or iPod Touch is now successfully jailbroken. You’ll be able to access your device using SSH protocol. You can install any thing that jailbreak supports, very useful for developers. Enjoy!
