Here in the UK, Government officials have been warned that they are becoming far to complacent, surround issues of Space Weather and the possibility of an EMP storm. A Defence Committee report titled Developing Threats: Electro-Magnetic Pulses (EMP). James Arbuthnot said "The reactive posture described by the government appears somewhat complacent. Space Weather is a global threat and may affect many regions and countries simultaneously. It is time that the Government began to approach this matter with the seriousness it deserves. "

Adobe Puts The Boot In For Linux

iPad 3 With Leaked A5X Processor

Quite recently an image surfaced from a source in China showing a processor with the lettering A5X and the Apple logo displayed on it. This obviously fits in with some of the most prominent discussions of iPad 3 rumours and from the most influential tech personalities and that is a faster processor. It is expected that Apple's next processor will be a dual core processor however there where serious speculation that perhaps the iPad 3 could sport a quad core processor and that is where the image of the A5X comes in. However a more realistic speculation of this image is that, Apple will be staying with the dual core processor but improved GPU cores from Imagination Technologies.

Windows 8 New Logo, The Emperors New Clothes

Taking a look at the new Windows 8 logo and comparing it to logos of previous Windows versions, it would appear they are doing a similar thing to Apple when they shed the colours from the Apple logo and replace it with a one colour Apple. I am not suggesting that Microsoft are trying to copy Apple, however I think they are certainly trying to simplify life at Microsoft and bring everything into the new world of technology. I would be very interested to find out how much Microsoft paid for the logo design. I am not suggesting of a single minute that a prestigious company such as Pentagram don't know what they are doing or are not very good, such a comment from the likes of me would ludicrous. Never the less; making an incredibly conservative comment based on my own observations and with respect for Pentagram, I think the logo looks very amateur.

Apples New OS X Mountain Lion

There have been rumours from the developers using and playing about with Mountain Lion, that certain systems may not have the ability to run Mountain Lion and not down to the process but the graphics cards. It would seem that Apple have stopped supporting Intels GMA 950 and x3100 chips. Also a minimum system requirement of an Intel Core 2 Duo is needed but don't get caught out, you my still have the processor ability but the graphics chip could let you down. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this system spec change when Mountain Lion is released.
