Regedit doesnot work, an alternative to regedit (Solved)

regedit is an important tool to access and manipulate registry entries. regedit can be found in the control panel or can also be accessed through run command by typing "regedit" and clicking "ok". The importance is felt when certain manipulations are necessary to be made in the registry entries for example to change the value of an entry to false status; sometimes to include a new entry under some other entry as specified by the help segments for system settings.
If for some reasons regedit does not respond or doesn't run you can repair it. If you are using Windows XP just download Tweak UI and run Tweak UI. Just click on the repair option which is the last option at the left side. Choose "repair regedit" from the drop-down menu on the right side. Click on repair now and click OK. Now you can access regedit.

If for some reasons still regedit does not work you can download regedit at "Regedit".
There is also an independent registry editor which is popular and easy to use The O&O RegEditor.
You can use this editor to independently do all the stuff that you do with the convetional registry editor which you earlier had.

Problem Reinstalling and Un-installing Programs (Solved)

It has been a trouble with most Windows based Operating Systems that after Uninstalling the program - Reinstallation is denied as a response specifying the error code by the operating system. I must say if N.R. Narayanmurthy and his group would not have left Patni Computers and Established Infosys, the IT industry which we now know wouldn't have been such. Right Decission at right time brought the Lorelle's.
Just a decisive difference between the Patni Brothers and Narayanmurthy let him and his group ( including Nandan Nilekani ) to walk out and form their own Infosys Company. Its a matter of fact that Nandan Nilekani ( the Chairman of Unique Identification Authority of India, the man who has complete control over all aspects of technology in UID Development ) passed from IIT Bombay in BE and was interviwed by N. R. Narayanmurthy ( Non Executive Chairman of Infosys Systems Presently 2010) when he was in Patni Computers (i.e. both these men belong to the Patni Computers).

Its said that "Har kamyaab aadmi ke peeche aik aurat kaa haath hota hai" , that is what can be clearly ascertained from the fact that- when N.R. Narayanmurthy left Patni Computers he got an investment of Rs. 10000 from her wife ( In the Year 1981 i.e. Foundation Year of Infosys ) and thus was able to Form Infosys Systems with the other Six Members.

Nandan Nilekani has resignated from the post of Co-Chairman of Infosys in 2009 to head as a Cabinet Minister as well as Chairman of UIDAI. From 2002 to 2007 he serverd as CEO and later redesignated as Co-Chairman and resigned in 2009 July.

Note:- Chairman is the Head of Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) is Authoritative Person who is accountable to the Board of Directors .

Positioning of Controls in Visual Studio - ContentPlaceHolder Resizing

It becomes quite hectic when some controls in Visual Studio 2008 tend to be binded at a point and even Format menu with positioning option gets inactive. In order to get the position option in the format menu to get activated- You have to manually search the control in the source code and type in : style="position:absolute;"
This will allow you to get the control to the position as per your wish through drag drop.

The biggest trouble: Resizing ContentPlaceHolder
Given that: You have used a MasterPage for your Webforms and The MasterPage has been Designed through inserting table and The ContentPlaceHolder Tags have been positioned in the <tr><td></td></tr>as per your wish.

The problem arrives when you try to resize ContentPlaceHolder or any Coloumn, for the benefit that your page is visible completely on the Browser.

The Problem that arrives is: While trying to drag the ContentPlaceHolder box- It doesn't expand or even by manually changing the style defination by providing a width size as per your wish, it results in the moving away of the coloumn to further right and thus in order to see the entire webpage we have to scroll to the right and that is not recommended or a right approach.

The solution to this problem is by "manupulationg the defination through the use of
ie.First remove the style defination for the <td> which appears as class="stylexx" which includes the ContentPlaceHolder tags;

Then use the following syntax instead of the one which was used as described above:
<tr><td><div style="height:500px;overflow:auto"><asp:ContentPlaceHolderID="ContentPlaceHolder1"
runat="server"></asp:ContentPlaceHolder></div></td>

The above syntax is using overflow:auto which allows your ContentPlaceHolder to expand as per the browser and available space; The space you decided while including the ContentPlaceHolder in the <tr><td> tags by draging rows and coloumns of the table as per your wish in the MasterPage.

Still No Remote Access - Connectivity Problem in sqlserver 2005 EE and vs 2008

Even After successfull Installation of the two Techno's and successfull availability of server name in the "connecting to server" dialog box of the Sql Server Management Studio- Still YOu need to Make somechanges in the settings to get Going.

When in vs 2008 you make a connection to the database you created in the sql server management studio-You are able to get the "Connection String" successfully- and you use the connection string in the programming to connect to database.
But when you debug the page an error occurs:- Microsoft SQL Native Client: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.
This means that sql server is not allowing remote connections.

Now i will tell you the complete settings that you need to perform to get your sql server and vs2008 working together.

1. Open the " sql server configuration manager" from the configuration tools in the sql server 2005 under programs of your start menu.
2. click on sql server 2005 network configuration; click on protocols for sql express; enable tcp/ip and named pipes in the right panel.
3. Now open " sql server surface area configuration" from the configuration tools in the samelist; click on the surface area configuration for services and connections; in the left panel click on the "remote connections-under the database engine head"; see the changed display in the right panel-click on the "local and remote connection" radio button and then click on "using both tcp/ip and name pipes"- radio button.
Again in the left panel click on the sqlserver browser; see the changed display in the right panel; in the "startup type"- choose : "automatic" which was earlier set to "disabled". Click on stop to stop the service and then click on start to start the service so that all settings are taken up and refreshed.

Still all in not well!!!

4. Now you have to set your firewall settings in exception for sqlserver and sqlbrowser.

To do that:
5. type "firewall.cpl" in the run available in your windows strat menu.

click on the "exception" tab and then click on "add program"- browse for sql server and sql browser; normally the address for these two are:C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Binn\sqlservr.exe , C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\90\Shared\sqlbrowser.exe respectively depending on the name of the server. If not you have to browse to the location.
Allow exceptions by clicking on the square boxes for these two programs and clicking ok.

Now everything's done. Congratulations your "vs 2008 and sqlserver2005 is ready with full features, services and connectivity"

Troubleshooting Visual Studio 2008 and sql server 2005 express edition Synchronisation Problem with the Database

Its common, if you have installed sqlserver2005ee before the vs2008 installation(including configuration tools for sqlserver2005ee- support).
Everything will be installed successfully with no error.
But when you will open the Sql Server Management Studio Express , it will aprompt you to enter the server name, even if you browsed for the server name or manually typed in "localhost", it will not work. An error will occur that server cannot be connected with or cannot connect to.

The only way or solution is to uninstall both the techno's.

And its not an easy job, even a single instance of any of the two may cause error or stop reinstallation.
Delete all the instances or files of the two programs- from the control panel as well as searching in the program directory for vs 2005 and vs 2008 and sql server 2005 express edition folders- delete tham all.

Follow the installation sequence as discussed in the Software Update-2.

Visual Studio 2008 and SqlServer 2005 Express Edition Installation Sequence

Its common to have troubles in the Installation of these two Techno's
Both are troublesome and can make any new comer to Format his computer twice to make an establishment.

Its better to install the setup for vs2008 first, since it comes with the inbuilt in configuration tools for sql server.
Once you have installed vs2008, you will notice that the configuration tools for sql server including:sql server configuration manager,sql server error and usage reporting and sql server surface area reporting will be automatically installed.
Once the above is successively done , you can install the sql server 2005 by clicking on the setup for sqlserver2005ee.

The above procedure will create SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS with the CONFIGURATION TOOLS which were earlier installed.
SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS will allow you to create databases and allowing connectivity through different services.
The actual requirement is SQL SERVER MANAGEMENT STUDIO EXPRESS, since we as users work on it and CONFIGURATION TOOLS on the other hand are the handlers or accomodators for management studio.

PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor

Just look at the url of pages you visit , look at the extension of the address you may find sometimes its php. Do you know whats PHP.
PHP is a scripting language to develop dynamic web-pages.
It was developed by Rasmus Lerdof in 1995 and it was initially known as PERSONAL HOMEPAGE TOOLS (PHP).
It was developed by Lerdof to update his personal homepage for personal usage. Later on its significance was sensed and was developed for the public.
Two developers from Israel ZEEV SURASKI and ANDI GUTMAN improved upon PHP and now its meaning is represented by the reverse acronym-Hypertext Preprocessor. Now officiall PHP uses the Zend Engine developed By Zend Technologies which was created by the two Israeli's above when they started introducing improved versions of PHP. PHP is available for free , download it for free.
