OEM Info Tool is a free tool which allows you add or modify the OEM [ Original Equipment Manufacturer ] information in windows 7, it works perfectly with windows 7 and vista both.

Please Note: OEM Info Tool must be run with administrator credentials because it needs to make changes in the registry as well as copy the logo file to the Windows folder.

In order to change the OEM info, first download OEM Info Tool and run the tool and Add the new OEM Information you want to add

click Change button to the replace and add the new OEM info you have specified above. After changing the OEM information, you will see the new OEM information in My computer >> properties. [ as shown in the image below ]

Once you click it, you can see the two type of feedback symbol in the extended system tray

When ever you create a new shortcut in windows 7 you will see the shortcut text in the shortcut name you just created. [ as shown in the image below ]

In order to configure windows 7 not to add shortcut text in the new shortcuts you create you will need to tweak windows 7 registry little bit.

Here is how you do it.

1. Open Windows 7 start menu and search regedit

2. select regedit to open registry editing and navigate to the following registry path

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Modify the value of the link key from 17 00 00 00 to 00 00 00 00

[ Make sure that explorer is not running while you make this change in the registry key, so end explorer task with task manager first before making this change in registry ]

Know when you create any new shortcut in windows 7 after making this registry change there will be no shortcut text appended in the shortcut name.

Seesmic has been just released for windows, this time it is based on Microsoft silverlight rather than on adobe air, In terms of the first look and features it looks and behaves like the most popular windows based desktop client for twitter called Tweetdeck

But in order to download seesmic for windows you will need to enter you email in the seesmic site and then a confirmation link will be mailed and then you can download seesmic for windows from the link you get on mail.

Now another more annoying fact is that you will get the web installer only which will be again download and extract seesmic for windows, which means on every pc you want to install seesmic you will need to download all the files required to run seesmic from internet again and again. This was quite painful task for me as I have three computers my macbook running windows 7, a windows laptop and a windows desktop.

So, I thought of making a portable seesmic by collecting all the files which seesmic have downloaded on my windows 7 macbook pro and finally after some time I succeeded.

Here is how you can make your own portable seesmic for windows which you can use on any computer without installing, but make sure you have silverlight installed as it is based on Microsoft Silverlight

First you need to download and run seesmic on your windows machine with the web installer, after running seesmic follow the procedure below

1. Download and Run Process Explorer

2. After running process explorer, locate the process named SWin.exe, right click and select properties 

3. Copy the path to the seesmic executable [ SWin.exe ]

For example in my case the path was

C:\Users\abhi\AppData\Local\Apps\2.0\M17RKOZH.8BV\PYY0293Z.7AL\swin..tion_853dd26996d3889f_0000.0005_5fac30b08bffb0f1

Open this folder by copy pasting the path in run prompt and press ok

Create a folder on desktop called seesmic portable and copy all the files inside the folder path you opened inside the new seesmic portable folder on the desktop

In order to run seesmic for windows, double click SWin.exe in the seesmic files you copied in the seesmic portable folder, this is how I run seesmic on the other machines in my home office with installing seesmic for windows

Carry seesmic for windows portable any where you want on your portable drive and run it directly from the folder but make sure that Microsoft silverlight is installed on your computer. Now for all those who would like to download portable seesmic directly without doing all the useless things mentioned above, download link to the portable seesmic I made is given below.

After much wait Microsoft has released office 2010 beta available for download for public, this the latest beta they have released now. Previously we told you about the official site to download all the three different versions of office beta and  the difference in between these versions of office 2010.

When you try to download now the latest version you will automatically get the office professional plus in the download and the corresponding product key for it. Office 2010 has been released for both 32 bit and 64 bit systems. Download file size is named ProfessionalPlus.exe approx 700 MB in size. Office 2010 beta applications include – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook, OneNote, Access, Publisher, InfoPath, SharePoint Workspace and Communicator.

Here is the step by step procedure to download office professional plus beta, but before proceeding further make sure you have a active hotmail account.

1. Go to this official page for office 2010 beta download

2. Click the green colored download button which says Get It Now

3. Now Sign In with your hotmail username and password and enter the information required about your company or if you are downloading just to try new office 2010 beta as a home user then better enter some fake information and click the continue button at the end of the page.

Note: If you try to skip this step by not providing any information you wont be able to get the key and download office 2010 beta

4. Next screen you will see after some loading time, will show you the MAK key for your office 2010 beta which will be valid until October 2010

Save your MAK key by printing the page or write it down some where or just copy paste the key into notepad and save the file. Now scroll down the page and select the 32 bit or 64 bit version of office 2010 beta with the language.

It is actually very easy to access windows shared folder from a Macintosh computer running mac os, but the prerequisite for this is that both the windows and Macintosh computer must be on the same local network, Once you make sure that both of the system are connected to a local network follow the procedure below on mac os

Open finder and click Go >> Connect To Server

Now in the next window, enter the ip address or name of the windows pc you want to connect with on your local network and click Connect

Now, enter the user credentials required to connect to windows machine

select the shared folder to be mounted to access the files inside them.

Recently after my windows laptop goes dead I was bound to use, windows on macbook pro. I used the parallels to install windows 7 as virtual image on my macbook pro. After some work I felt the need to transfer the files in between windows 7 and mac os, but then I came to know that in order to do the file transfer in between these 2 operating system I need to install parallels tools.

In order to install parallels tools, you will need to click parallels icon in the dock and then go to virtual machine >> install parallels tools    

In the above image you can get the idea how you have to install parallels tools, in your case there will be an entry saying Install Parallels Tools – Make sure to insert the parallels cd as it is required to install parallels tools

After installing parallels tools, navigate to Virtual Machine >> Configure – here you will find the shared folders where you can specify what folder you want to share from mac and virtual windows. [ as shown in the image below ]

You can specify the some folders on your mac os which you would like to access from virtual windows
