Sigmo - The Universal Voice Translator

Services such as Google Translate help decipher what you said, then send the translation back to the device. Seconds after you first speak, Sigmo plays back the translation, audible to anyone close by — including (presumably) the well-meaning local from whom you were trying to get directions to the museum.

The Sigmo is a small, pillbox-sized device equipped with a microphone and speaker, but with a cloud-connected twist. Select the language you'd like to translate into, then hold the Sigmo up and speak to it. The Sigmo records your voice, then sends the recording to the cloud for translation via Bluetooth connection with your smartphone.

They are road signs for your daily rituals—the instantly recognized symbols and icons you press, click and ogle countless times a day when you interact with your computer. But how much do you know about their origins?

For e.g, power symbol, better known as a circle with a point out the top, was not crafted from historical legend or greek mythology. It’s the result of engineers seeking symbolic efficiency. In WWII hardware, 1 labeled an "on" switch, and 0 represented "off." Eventually, these two merged to simply represent “power.” That's a neat evolution when you consider that the language of computers is a collection of 1s and 0s--which represents transistors turned on and off--known as binary code.

Privacy is one of the issue on Android which keeps some user to move to Android open ecosystem , but it seems problem will resolve with the new method. The new method would make it easy to hide your data from any application. Kondik, a lead developer with the CyanogenMod team, published a post on his Google Plus profile last week about Incognito Mode. He offered more details on the feature.

Steve Kondik Says :

I've added a per-application flag which is exposed via a simple API. This flag can be used by content providers to decide if they should return a full or limited dataset. In the implementation I'm working on, I am using the flag to provide these privacy features in the base system:

* Return empty lists for contacts, calendar, browser history,and messages.
* GPS will appear to always be disabled to the running application.
* When an app is running incognito, a quick panel item is displayed in order to turn it off easily.
* No fine-grained permissions controls as you saw in CM7. It's a single option available under application details.

The API provides a simple isIncognito() call which will tell you if incognito is enabled for the process (or the calling process). Third party applications can honor the feature using this API, or they can choose to display pictures of cats instead of running normally.

We aren't providing ad-blocking or device info (IMEI) spoofing. This feature is designed explictly to help protect your personal data, and it will remain as such.

Bringing Facebook 'chat heads' feature to all apps on Android by Paranoid Team - Say hello to HALO

Guys behind Paranoid Android were working on a new feature called Halo. Similar in form and function to the “chat heads” feature of Facebook Home, Halo was intended to bring a new level of multitasking to Paranoid Android ROMs by allowing the user to receive notifications from apps and act on them from a floating or “windowed” version of the app.

Here is a video describing the feature in action.

HALO, brings notifications (conceptually derived from Facebook’s Chat Heads feature) from applications into a floating window and allows you to interact with that application. While this is similar to the Samsung Multi-window functionality, it differs in one key point: It is now open source! Any source-based ROM is able to make use of what the Paranoid Android team has done and bring this functionality to their users with minimal changes.

HALO extends Android as it is based on the AOSP source, while also granting app developers the ability to bring the visual aspect to their application.

HTC Butterfly S , Moto X Specs and Huawei's New Emotion UI

HTC has just unveiled that Butterfly S at their launch event in Taiwan, showing off some impressive specs.

Engadget reports that the HTC Butterfly S will house a quad-core Snapdragon 600 clocked at 1.9GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage with additional microSD slot and a 3,200 mAh battery. For the record, that is bigger than a Galaxy Note 2 battery. Along with the nice innards, the Butterfly S will feature a 5-inch, 1080p screen, and the HTC staples of Sense 5.0, UltraPixel camera and BoomSound Beats speakers.

The HTC Desire 600 is a dual SIM Android smartphone and it features HTC Sense 5 and HTC BlinkFeed, processing comes in the for of a quad core 1.2Ghz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor.It also include a 4.5 inch qHD Super LCD2 display with a resolution of 540 x 960 pixels, the handset also comes with an 8 megapixel camera which is capable of HD video in 720p

Moto X

Moto X, will supposedly be in some shape or form by the end of this Monsoon, and alleged specs have shown up on the net. This comes from leak king, @evleaks, who posted this specs to what looks to be more of a mid-ranged Moto X Phone. Here are the specs:

The startup named Anki ( pronounced AHN-key ), and the stuff called Anki Drive, a racing game with real, physical tiny motorized cars that are controlled via iPhone.

Anki doesn’t, however, think of itself as a toy company. Its founders are robotics scientists from Carnegie-Mellon in Pittsburgh, and the company, which has raised $50 million in funding, simply sees its little cars as the first step towards its goal of revolutionizing consumer robotics.

Anki Drive was demoed live on stage during Apple's WWDC, it was a modern take on classic slot cars using iOS devices and Bluetooth-equipped toy vehicles -- basically a racing video game rendered with real world objects. But there's actually a lot more to it than that.

First, you should watch the demo, below. There isn't a lot of explaining in terms of how it all works or technical details, and the demo moves pretty fast (except when a glitch forces them to restart the system, adding to the suspense). In fact, at first glance, the whole thing may look like a simple racing toy, a new take on the slot car sets that have been around for decades. Where's the cutting-edge robotics? Why do you need CMU PhDs to build this thing?

What you need to keep in mind is that there's an iPhone app (what Sofman - Anki's CEO , calls the AI engine) orchestrating the behaviors of the cars and creating different gameplay scenarios. Also note that in the demo the cars were set to drive autonomously, but when Anki Drive becomes available later this year (retailing for around $200 at Apple Stores), players will use their iPhones to actually drive the cars, racing against each other or taking on the AI. And that's when the fun begins, Sofman says.
