Google+ UI updated Cover Photos, Unified Left Bar introduced

Google+ UI gets a major upgrade to get Cover Photos like Facebook, Unified Left Bar to access your Circles, Pages, Games and much more. Google has been continuously upgrading its Social Network site to compete with Facebook and today they have rolled out a major UI over haul to Google+

You get Cover Photos just like in Facebook, but not just limited to single Cover photo, Google + gives you an option to have cluttered or joint Cover Photo. Left Bar on the previous Google+ has been unified and integrated as one bar with easy access to all your Google+ features.

Also they have rolled out a nicely separated posts and message windows, rather than in the earlier UI it all used to be roped in as a single page. Now there is a clear distinction between the posts you make on the Google+ with Comments and +1s for your post.

Chat window is moved to the right and is fixed now with a separate scroll bar for the chat window. Main scroll bar doesn’t move your chat window but the posts will move for you. Overall it’s a nice and pleasant upgrade to UI. New changes as been rolled out for all the users, when you login to Google+ it will popup a notification about the changes. Google’s Project Glass turns Sixth Sense into reality from Pranav Mistry

Google X today announced today about their secret and ongoing Project Glass, which is more like a enhanced version of Sixth Sense from Pranav Mistry which created a lot more hype from people. Google Glass tries to add more intelligence into the goggles which can talk, and show relevant information on what objects you are seeing in a live fashion.

Google Glass is not just a concept , Google have put in place a real glass which works well and this secret project is revealed now so that they can get more inputs and feedback on improving the product. Today on a Google+ Page dedicated for Google Project Glass they have revealed about this secret project. They have put in place a nice video of how the final product should look like and teaser of what these Glass can really do for us.

Inside sources says that this wearable glass runs Android OS

This is not yet available for consumers, and Google didn’t reveal any plans to do so in near time. They will look for more feedback and conceptual improvements to this before they can think about bring it to the consumer market.

Gmail Spam button is smarter now – Asks you to unsubscribe as well

Google Gmail team has rolled out a simple and very helpful feature for spam. When you hit the report spam icon on Gmail it asks you to unsubscribe as well. That’s a nice and helpful addition to the extensive Gmail Spam filtering. Lets look at how does this works.

When we feel like you are spammed with emails from unwanted companies and promotions sites, we use “Report Spam” in Gmail and other email accounts. But most of time these sites has alternate domains and keep sending us emails till we unsubscribe from their mailing lists.

We can go ahead unsubscribe from their mailing list manually from the link which is given in the email itself. Gmails now find it automatically find such links and notify us about un subscribing on it own on our behalf. Yes it pops up a window which has “Unsubscribe and Report Spam”, “Report Spam” options now. If you hit the “Unsubscribe and Report Spam” option it automatically tries to un subscribe for us. Really cool isnt it ??

Some sites allow to un subscribe via email and some allow via web form. We need to see how this auto un subscribe option works for both. Please leave you comments about this cool feature from Gmail.

Google Street View in Amazon Goes Deep inside the Forest

Google Maps Street view is a cool feature which I like most and very useful for those who wanted to get the complete feel of a place before they actually go there. Street View from Roads and Terrains now it has gone all the way deep inside the Amazon Forests. Yes now you can feel the way Amazon forests will be from your laptop or PC using Street View.

Take a virtual boat ride down the main section of the Rio Negro, and float up into the smaller tributaries where the forest is flooded. Stroll along the paths of Tumbira, the largest community in the Reserve, or visit some of the other communities who invited us to share their lives and cultures. Enjoy a hike along an Amazon forest trail and see where Brazil nuts are harvested. You can even see a forest critter if you look hard enough!

Google Street View Team has worked on this project for almost 2 Years and Amazon street view is available to us from World Forest Day on Google Maps. They have also put a nice video of Making of Amazon Street View to see the behind the scenes. Check the video below.

Songbird comes to Facebook

Songbird has landed in Facebook as an App. If you don’t know what is songbird , it’s the First Music Player which came from Mozilla Firefox Source code and then launched a Android App. Now they are getting into Facebook Apps. Because of its capabilities to have add-ons it has already got 9 million users. With the entry on Facebook App they will win more hearts.

You can discover Collections , Albums and Songs right inside Facebook and start listening to them. You can search for specific Albums and Artists using the search tab. The best part is that you can get collections from your friends and listen to them and share your collections with your friends. When its in Facebook world its always about sharing.

You can get started using Songbird for Facebook right away, not sure there will be a integration between the Desktop and Android versions of Songbird into Facebook App, we need to wait see. Songbird Team says

Android Market is now Google Play Store

Google has rolled out a major changes to Android Market and integrated Google Music, Google Books and Google Movies into one platform as Google Play and Android Market is renamed as Google Play Store. There are rumors secretly working on Digital Media entertainment solution on top of Google TV and this integration of Google Play give more confirmation on the same.

Google aims to give one integrated solution to Home Media and Digital entertainment and cloud service for all your gadgets from TV, Android Phone, Tablet , etc. Integration of Music, Movies, Games and Apps into Google play is the right move in achieving the integrated solution. As of now no new services are rolled out except the new Branding and Name change. Even market.android.com now points to Google Play.

Facebook Pages gets Timeline Update

Facebook is rolling out the Timeline profile for the Facebook pages as well starting march 30th 2012. Earlier Facebook Timeline was rolled out of the individual profile pages and its now time for Facebook Pages. Timeline for Facebook Pages is available as preview for Page Admins for now, and will be available for all fans and users from March 30th.

Facebook is keen in rolling out new features very frequently especially after the launch of Google+. Earlier they launched the new timeline profile for individual accounts, and its now available for Facebook Pages.

At this point of time

Only your admins can see this preview
On March 30, 2012 your Page will automatically get the new design
Until you publish your Page, you can see your old design any time

You should get a notification message on your Page if you are the admin of the page about the new Timeline profile. If you didn’t get the notification you can get that enabled by heading to the Facebook Pages and clicking the “Preview you page” link.

Google docs App for Android gets real time Collaboration

Google has rolled out a nice update for its Google Docs App for Android, which adds real time collaboration just as we saw in Google Wave. Even though Google has stopped the Google Wave services it tries to bring the rich features from it to other Google Services.

Google Docs is getting boosted up heavily by Google with the regular updates and new features. There are rumors about Google might change Google Docs to the much anticipated Google Service called Google Drive.

Both phones and tablets will benefit from this massive update, and it also brings the mobile app even closer to having many of those awesome desktop features we all know and love. Here is a few of the changes but you can see more from the video provided by Google.

Android ICS update for Asus Transformer rolling out

Asus started rolling out the Android ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich) update for its Android Tablet Transformer TF101. As promised Asus started rolling out the FOTA update to its customers. Asus has started the first wave of update from Taiwan and will rollover on other countries soon.

Sony Xperia Android Phones UI getting Updated ?

Sony Ericsson, now Sony Mobiles is getting ready for a major UI overhaul for its Xperia Android phones. According to XperiaBlog, the leaked video Promo of Xperia S reveals major changes to the existing UI of Sony Xperia Mobiles. New UI brings changes to the lock screen , FM App, widgets etc which is very cool and competing with HTC Sense UI.

From the video the phone still runs Android Gingerbread version 2.3.7 with the UI changes. We hope these changes will come for Android ICS upgrade as well, which is scheduled for Late March or April 2012 for the 2011 Xperia Phones.

The video below does a great job of highlighting most of these new features and refers to the new UI as ‘UXP NXT’. The video shows the new lock screen, home screen, FM radio, widgets, music player, gallery. Google Drive is coming Alive ??

Google Drive is the most anticipated service from Google for years and years. Google Drive is supposed to be the cloud Storage service from Google which everyone was expecting for years even before lot of Cloud Storage was thought of. Today Amazon, Apple and almost all big players in Internet industry has cloud storage. Finally Google is going to bring the service to everyone on its side.

Google Drive is the name given by the anticipators themselves, but Google hasn’t officially announced it yet, but that doesn’t stop the rumors and inside news leaking about the Google Drive. GeekWire got their hands on what’s being presented as the wen interface for Google Drive. Submitted anonymously and blurred out to avoid identification, the screenshot looks basically identical to the web version of Google Docs, but with files and folders instead of documents. It looks pretty legitimate, though we’d remind readers that this sort of thing would be very easy to fake.

The resemblance to Google Docs is interesting. It’s possible that Google Drive could replace the cloud document service, essentially creating an all-in-one service that combines high density storage with document editing and sharing.

We need to wait and see what Google releases us in real, but Cloud Storage from Google is going to hit internet soon for sure. Google already has Music Storage on the Cloud.

Notion Ink Adam Tablet releases Android ICS build–Beta

Much Hyped iPad Killer Android Tablet, Adam from Notion Ink is getting ready for Android ICS release. Earlier Notion Ink released an alpha build and now they have released a better build as part of their Beta releases. Lot of Vendors have promised for ICS release for their smart phones and Tablets to Android ICS including Sony for 2011 Xperia Mobiles , Asus for Transformer. Now Notion Inks joins that club to release ICS for Android Tablet.

Adam Tablet is the much hyped Android tablet and is the first to release Android Tablet with Tegra 2 processor. When they work on their next Generation Tablet Adam 2, they are working in parallel to get Android ICS for Adam Tablet as well. Before their final release they have now released a beta build which users can download and install and get a glimpse of ICS on Adam Tablet.

Android ICS for Adam Tablet is not yet fully functional , and some of the functionalities are not yet available like Camera, disabling notifications, compass, light sensor and Microphone.

Download above 2 files.
Rename update_Recovery.zip to update.zip.
Copy update.zip and adam_BetaICS.zip to the external sdcard
Start the device in recovery mode (Volume Up Key + Power Down on Eden OS/AlphaICS, check for beast ROM)
Select “Apply External SDcard update.zip” (Use Volume Up down keys for navigation, second capacitive button for selection) You are installing recovery image right now.
Once Complete, reboot to recovery mode again (Volume Up Key + Power Down on Eden OS/AlphaICS, check for beast ROM)
Wipe the data and select the option – “install zip from SD card”
Select second option “choose zip from SD Card”
Select adam_BetaICS.zip. Install.
Wipe the data and cache
Reboot the device

How To : Fix the multiple instance of Google Talk plugin issue with Firefox and Chrome

Recently everyone is facing a annoying issue with Google Talk Plugin for Gmail and Google+. The problem is multiple tasks are started for Google talk plugin and it occupies the entire memory and cpu. This makes your PC completely un usable and sometime it crashes. This issue is mainly seen on x64 PC on windows 7. We have a workaround or fix for the issue which kills these unwanted process and makes Google Talk plugin usable.

Most of the forum suggests to kill the multiple instances of Google Talk plugin from Task Manager or from the command line, which actually kills the tasks temporarily. But Google Talk plugin again starts building up and consumes memory and cpu. We recommend to kill plugin-container rather than the multiple instances of Google Talk Plugin itself.

Killing plugin-container will fix this issue and you can continue using the Google Talk client for the rest of the day. remember this is not an actual fix for the problem itself rather just a workaround to get out the issue and make your PC and Google Talk plugin usable.

You can kill the plugin-container from task manager or from command line. remember to kill all the plugin-container.exe tasks, which will be typically 3-4 tasks. or you can use the below command line to kill all the tasks at one shot.

C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe /F /IM plugin-container.exe /T

Wait till the command line executes the command and returns prompt. Note that it might take more since your cpu is already used by the multiple instances of Google Talk plugin. So wait for its turn to complete the command. Once the command is executed check if all the googletalkplugin tasks are killed, if not run the below command to kill the stale tasks.

C:\Windows\System32\taskkill.exe /F /IM googletalkplugin.exe /T

You could observe a Adobe Flash crash popup in Firefox on Gmail/Google+ page which uses the Google Talk Client. You can close the popup windows and continue with your Gmail.

[CES 2012] Asus launched Transformer Prime 700 Series

Asus has launched a upgraded version of Transformer Prime Tablet named as Prime TF700T higher resolution (1920x1200) display, a better front facing camera (2MP), and featuring a new back panel design. According to ASUS does not replace the TF201, remains practically the same as the original Prime and both of them features the next generation Tegra3 processor.

Google has announced that it will be rolling out new updates and features to Google+ in the coming days and one important feature is the ability to start Hangouts from Google+ Android App. Earlier we were able to only attend the Hangouts from the Mobile, now you can start the Hangouts from Android Devices.

In the Google Official blog post today they have mentioned about the various features coming soon to Google+. And the best part of this feature is you can switch between the Video and chat conversation on one click.

Gmail App for iOS gets scribble Pad and UI updated

As a continuous effort to enhance the Mobile apps, Google has updated its iPhone/iOS app with enhanced UI and new feature as scribbles. Now you can draw your own paintings or hand written notes and send as email right inside the Gmail App. In the Gmail app and Gmail for mobile you can now open up a canvas and scribble a message that will be attached to your email. It's perfect for sending a quick sketch that is hard to express in words or adding a fun graphic to make your email more personal.

What’s New in this update of Gmail for iOS Devices:

Custom signature for your mobile messages and a vacation responder
improved labels with support for nested labels
On iOS 5, New notification sound so that it’s easier to distinguish when you've received an email.

Indian Government announced they will be launching cheapest Android Tablet for Students at a price of $35 and that is available now for ordering and named as Akash Tablet. They have also released a little upgraded version and called as UBISLATE 7 which will be available in Jan 2012 and ready for Pre order.

Akash Tablet is powered with Arm11 – 366 MHz processor running Android 2.2 with Wifi capability. Ubislate is a Cortex A8 – 700 MHz processor which run Android 2.3 and has Wifi and GPRS.
