WiFi that just works: Belkin Pre-N Router Review

I totally agree! Great throughput and overall coverage through walls, doors etc. The only quirk I have seen with mine is having to have my SSID broadcast set to 'on' or Windows has trouble discovering DHCP. I would prefer to have SSID off for more security but with WPA enabled It's not that big a deal.

Three Huge Media Technology Trends

I saw an ad on NBC this morning for Monday's NBC Nightly News where they're going to do a report on the unbundling of cable channels. If someone was really interested in that topic, why wouldn't they just hop online where they could easily find the information NBC won't report for another day?

In fact, NBC affiliates reported this story five days ago:
http://www.nbc17.com/news/5424611/detail.html

By the time NBC Nightly News stops holding the story, it will be a six day old, and likely told in less depth than the original story.

What kinds of opinions will NBC present with the story? Chances are, they won't be as in depth as what's been available online for almost a week.

TV is so slow and shallow.

Given that, NBC deserves a break on this one because the story is actually reporting on what may be done by the FCC this Tuesday, making Monday a good night for a lead-up report.

Magellan Roadmate 800 GPS Review: It Changed My Life for the Better

I use two different GPS systems: The Lexus v.3 GPS built into my 2004 RX 330 and a TomTom Navigator 5 with my Treo 650. I love them both.

I use the TomTom Navigator 5 while traveling. I have all of the US loaded onto a 1GB SD card, and you can get all of the US and Canada on a 2GB card. Since the software runs directly on my Treo 650, all I need to bring with me is a small GPS "mouse" that fits in my pcoket, so airport security can't steal it... well, not as easily. TomTom Navigator 5 also uses my Treo 650's data connection to get updated traffic and weather information, automatically routing me around congestion and construction. VERY cool feature. I have named her Lori after the voice that I decided upon (you can download and install different voices).

The Lexus GPS is amazing. Incredibly easy to use and best interface I have seen in a built-in car GPS system. MUCH better than the BMW iDrive system. The system is fast, has the entire US and Canada loaded, and is accurate. My only complaint is that the model I have does not have bluetooth so I can't link to my phone, and I can't add it after the fact... And no traffic/weather/construction updates either. We have named her Sam.

I agree about Safari. It works great with 99% of the sites I find on the web.

Safari with a .Mac subscription syncs my bookmarks on all my computers automatically. Granted it can't sync PCs, but then again I don't have any PC's!

I had an opportunity of using Skype to call my home country in Africa. I was like "wow", I should have been using this service since I learnt about it over two months ago. My concern, however, is that the cost of the calls should be reduced because phone cards like Go Mad For Bananas, Planet Talk Africa etc, still offer the least and, therefore, very attractive rates. Think about it...

Not that Skype's doing a good job at that, but at least, we have a somewhat good program for the 3 major plataforms (Win, Mac and Linux)

Another great VoIP service that I am using currently is Lingo (owned by Primus). They have great service and cheaper rates than all other 'big name' VoIP players.

With a $19.99/mo service plan you get unlimited calling to US, Canada as well as Western Europe! Cool!

This makes a lot of sense, Ben. It sounds a bit like how cars temporarily shut off the AC if you accelerate fast to pass a car.

Prioritize the limited resource.
