It’s Maxtor BlackArmor, which incorporates Seagate’s hard drive. What I like about this external hard drive is that it has a backup software, in order for users to trust their hard drive in keeping valued files. Not only does a user entrust its files but surely the hard drive repays the trust by properly creating a backup of the files that is added on it. This feature of the Maxtor BlackArmor gives an edge over other external hard drive available on the market today.

Now, that’s not only keeping data but protecting it from undesired use. The design itself is elegant and provides users with 5400 rpm bus rate. The capacity is up to 320 GB, as of now.

text-align: justify;">“The PC is personal again”, this is the tag line of HP to their new TouchSmart PC series. I really like this PC! If I had the money, I would buy one of these (totally!). Why? It uses the touch screen technology and also wireless technologies to the keyboard and mouse. The CPU case is built-in in the PC’s monitor. It uses Windows Vista and HP’s own software (for the touch screen capability, image editing, video recording, and many more). It has a cool, stylish all black design!

It’s very different from what I have really wished for, but, I am really happy having this, because it was a gift from my parents for my birthday (weee!). Before, I have posted here that I was wishing to buy a Western Digital MyBook Essential or Western Digital Home Edition with a capacity of 320 GB. However, due to an insufficient source, I wasn’t able to get one! Insufficient since I was not really entertained well by the seller, I won’t tell the whole story, but one thing is for sure, I was really disappointed. Oh well, no bothers, since I have what I have really wished for, and that’s an external hard drive.

This external hard drive has a 320 GB Seagate Barracuda, and an HD Enclosure. It only cost Php 3,800. And now, I’m enjoying saving a lot of files, especially movies, and music on my external hard drive.

Gigabyte Motherboards

When I was still in high school, our computer got screwed up, and the motherboard was the one that was really destroyed. So, we have no choice but to buy another one. During those time, I haven't got the idea on motherboards, or any computer parts. We asked a computer technician to buy a durable and long life motherboard. So, he did. But apparently, I was shocked, because the motherboard was too expensive. Eight months later, our pc with the new motherboard got screwed up again!

Now, that I'm an IT student, I realized how stupid we were. There's a lot of motherboards out there, that aren't too expensive, and are of best quality. And the one that I recommend is Gigabyte motherboards. It has the newest technology for motherboards, which also includes a cool design, low temperature, low power loss and has a longer life. They have Intel and AMD compatible motherboards.

For those who wanted to know more about Gigabyte motherboards, click here.

For current models, (gamer's choice), click here.

Western Digital External Hard Drives

For a couple of days now, I have been looking for good quality hard drives, that comes in a cheap price (reasonable cheap price that is). I have planning to buy an external hard drive for almost a year now, but I haven't bought one because I haven't got enough money! So, I asked my mama if she can give me one, as a birthday gift. And luckily, she agreed! Yes! I can finally have my own external hard drive.

So, to have an idea on what to buy, I have searched through the world wide web, looking for best quality hard drives. I have visited a lot of online markets, namely tipidpc.com, pcbodega.com and davaosale.com. Finally, I have decided what to buy. Actually, I have decided on the brand, but haven't decided on what model. It's Western Digital's My Book Essential Edition 320 GB, or My Book Home Edition 320 GB. They have different prices, and a little difference in their specifications.

Why have I chosen this? Let's see:

It's quite cheap (3950 for the Essential Edition and 4850 for the Home Edition)

It has a shock proof enclosure

Nice black color

Compatible with Windows and Mac

Easy to use (according to users)

A nice design

The My Book Home Edition has FireWire, perfect for Macintosh

The My Book Home Edition has an indicator of how much of the hard drive is used

The My Book Home Edition has an automatic back-up

It turns on and off with the PC

Portable

And.. It is recommended by users

So, if you are also looking for an external hard drive, I recommend the brand Western Digital, and My Book Essential and My Book Home Editions, for basic use of storage.

If you click here, you can see there's a lot more models you can choose from. And.. they have 1TB and 2TB capacities! You can also go to the online markets I have mentioned (preferably for Filipino buyers).

Western Digital My Book Essential Edition

Western Digital My Book Home Edition

Adding Desktop RAM to your PC

As the technology world continues to grow, and is still one of the best fields in business right now, users, such as myself, wanted to cope up with changes that each of these technologies has to offer. And one strategy to cope up with the changes is getting to upgrade, especially if you’re really obsessed with the technology that you are using. Let’s take for example, computers, men or women, young or old, expert or not, what computer enthusiasts want for their personal computers is that it has something to brag about. What is something to brag about is the speed, the capacity, the interface, the looks, and all of that stuff. Because one is so enthusiastic about upgrading, he is also enthusiastic on searching for resources of computer parts, and the best ones are the most reliable and, maybe the cheapest, considering the quality of course.

Let me share with you this site that offers great deals of memory. Since adding computer RAM is one of those that we look for, especially in upgrading our personal computers. They have a lot of memory deals, like if you want to add iMac memory for your Apple computers, for a much greater memory capacity of running several applications, like your iTunes, Safari internet explorer, your word processing applications, games, and a lot more. Or if you can choose DDR PC2700 Memory, with a 1 GB capacity, you can even browse through to other memories available on the site. They offer great deals, and a reliable source, indeed.

(OFF TOPIC) Defense Mechanism Slides

To the class of PSY 111, code 1-231, schedule of 7:40 am - 8:40 am, at room F709:

You can download the "Defense Mechanisms" slide presentation, here.

You can also go to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defense_mechanism for further readings on the topic.

Go to http://www.advisorteam.com/temperament_sorter/register.asp for the Keirsey Temperament Sorter Test (Assignment).

Technopreneurship

Technopreneurship in Davao City:

Davao city is one of the highest technopreneurship city in the Philippines, based on the study conducted by the information communications and technology. As the findings suggest, Davao city is an emerging city of new developments and because of this, new jobs are being adapted, and one field is in technology. Jobs related to technology such as internet cafes, computer stores, call centers, mobile phone stores, web design and computer related businesses and corporation and the like have been emerging since the development of Davao city. For this reason, the city has also produced a lot of graduates of information technology related courses, as well as in commerce and management.

A lot of business now, in davao city, are focused marketing technology stuff, such as computers, computer parts and gadgets. In line with this, some loans have been converted to it parks and businesses, mostly call centers. Outsource companies have a lot to do with the technopreneurship in Davao city. Also there are more online stores now, davaosale.com, for example.

Technopreneurship in the Philippines:

The Philippines’ technopreneurship can be concluded in just a sentence, the Filipinos know technology, however, they are not able to fully adapt the concept because they are not ready for the change. Based on the resources that I have read, a lot of Filipinos are aware of what technology can do to them, however, because of its fast emerging event, changes may not be easily adapted, since they are more accustomed to old ways, which cannot be easily replaced. But to take note, the Philippines have a lot of IT businesses already, and some infrastructure also adapt IT stuff in order to operate.

However, as Filipinos are so eager to compete with the changing world, they tend to buy and sell products that aren’t good in quality. Although these products (mostly gadgets), are usable, most of them are fake and that’s not a great thing for technopreneurship in the country.

Global Technopreneurship:

Technopreneurship, globally, is such a fast pacing economic builder. Nowadays, engaging into technopreneurship gives a company, a businessman, or even a young man, a greater edge than other companies who prefer using the old ways. Take for example the ever growing business in the world wide web, may it be local, a lot of people are experiencing convenience surfing the net and buying online. Online stores, shopping cart systems, do not only provide convenience but the easiest way to earn profit, and saving a lot from expenses.

Also, technological advances, like computer manipulated machines, are marketed to large companies to enhance their service, this in turn does not only show how popular technology is in the market, but it also shows that people, globally, are adapting technology in their business, and in their lives. Probably the most noted countries for having such great influences on technopreneurship are Japan and the United States. Because they have more advances and that they profit more on using technology, other countries follow them.

In short, the global technopreneurship is one of the greatest achievements of technology, and it is one of the most influencing changes that the world is going through, and is continue to grow.

New Gmail Beta Features Added!

For four years now, Gmail has been undergoing reconstruction and development, in order to serve their users with their best interests, and what's going to make them more interested to Gmail. It is quite a long time for the Google developers to take the development of the Gmail to a complete email processing, multi-processing, and user-friendly. It's a snake robot, or a snake-inspired robot. Although there are a lot of animal like robots out there, this one's a neat one, and very helpful. As the inventors have said, they've already used this robot in search and rescue operations. Great invention indeed, and what's next for this snake robot? It is actually being developed to be used in surgical operations.

Click here to see a video on the snake-inspired robot.

Buying Memory Online at Memory Deal

Computer enthusiasts nowadays try to find the most reliable source of computer parts, accessories and upgrades that comes in the cheapest price. I have done this in order to check if my page rank is really rank 3, but I guess I just have to consider the Google page rank checker (heheh.).

For those who are still waiting for their page ranks, just be patient... and keep blogging! Make blogging a hobby, don't just aim for a higher page rank, or "making money" (even though this one's the major reason why other bloggers blog). Yahoo! Earth Day Logos

I haven't blog and posted a new topic for about.. hmmm.. 1 month? WOW. That's too long. I was busy doing our projects in SYSTEMS ANALYSIS DESIGN, however, we were'nt able to pass the subject, WHY?? Hmmm.. because our program got so "buggy" when we presented it, and I myself, got shocked with what had happened. Oh well, enough about that.. Hmm.. thinking of a new topic, since it's Earth Day, let's talk about how google and yahoo (two competing search engines) showed their appeal to the said event. Well, as many of you had seen that every time an event tooks place, these two search engines create new themes for their logos (ofcourse a theme that would fit the event). So, I started to collect these images (just at this moment), because I really like looking at those logos they've created.

Without any doubt, these theme-related logos are much of a commercial based act, however, they also show that these organizations care a lot, in celebrating such important events. Here are the logos:

For Google:

For Yahoo!:

Bandwidth Meter

Let me ask you one question: How much bandwidth do you have right now? I guess some of you would also question yourself. Bandwidth means a lot to Internet geeks (like me). I would love to know how much bandwidth do I have, every time I want to download or upload something. Bandwidth matters! Of course, Internet access providers know how much bandwidth they should provide to their customers, however, some of them (or most of them), tend to decrease the bandwidth after two or three weeks of customer subscription. I don't know what they are up to, but try to monitor your bandwidth every week, and you'll see that there's a very big difference every week.

Why have I said this? Hmmm. Based on my own experience (Yes!). My bandwidth tends to decrease three weeks after I made my subscription, and I got no idea what happened. And I asked some of the people I know if they've experienced the same thing. And yes, they do have problems with bandwidth, and what do they do? They call the service provider, and after some time.. let's say 30 minutes, the bandwidth will (amazingly) increase.

So, in order for us users, or customers to monitor our bandwidth (and to spend our money well to those internet access providers), here are some websites that i've used, for bandwidth checking:

(click: to access sites)

Znet Internet Services - Bandwidth Meter

ISP Name - Bandwidth Meter

Cnet Reviews - Bandwidth Meter

Speedtest - (for upload and download speed)

Photo.net.ph - Bandwidth Meter (automatically checks bandwidth)

2wire - (click on the "speed meter" button on the upper right corner of the homepage)

*Bandwidth refers to how much data you can send and receive through a network connection, interface or a modem. Actually, I tried calling technical support for a telecommunications company, not that I'm stupid like this guy on the comic, I was just trying to inquire something. I was not able to get an answer from my question, and I had a good laugh after that conversation. Why? The agent on the phone was too confident of her answer, but I was too confused if she really does know what she had said. Ahhh.. I guess she knows a little about technical stuff. Being an IT student, I was just strucked by the answer of the agent, because what she said was way too far from the exact or not even related to my question. Oh no! I guess telecommunications companies should hire agents that really knows about tech stuff, even just the concepts, or just the terms like : RJ-45 for instance? Haha.

Please visit PCWeenies, for more comics about Computer Technology.

Fashion Schools New York

Think about fashion. Fashion is not only a word that applies to a thing that is “designer” made, or has class. People, like my age, tend to find the most fashionable clothes, the most “hip” and the most trendy accessories. But, besides the physical matter, fashion also applies to the creativeness and artistic design that an individual possesses or creates A person has in himself the inner “artist” or a model. For others, maybe it's a way of self-expression, a way of dealing with others. Some think that fashion keeps their world go around, it is where their mind is set, it is their dream.

But talk about fashion, pertaining to designs, where could a person learn the best way how to “release” those artistic ideas? Well, here's Fashion Schools New York, one of the best schools for fashion, found in New York. Their website provides promising students with available schools, that aren't far from their locations. It provides further information about New York fashion schools. So, why go to UK, or Paris, when there are available fashion schools in New York! There not only one of the best, but they “form” the best fashion designers there is, today.

Dell XPS M1530

It's been awhile since I posted another topic on this blog. And, I got no idea what to post, so I started browsing on google.com to search for new technology stuff, I got stumbled on Dell's website. I browsed a little on their products, then I saw this laptop, Dell's XPS M1530, we'll I guess the first thing that I got attracted with this one is the color, the blue one. Personally, I wanted to have a blue colored laptop, since it is my favorite color. The Adobe AIR (Adobe Integrated Runtime), helps developers to create, manage and improve their applications, on their own desktops, may it be online or offline. For developers, applications contribute to the success of the website, and of the product or service itself. Hence, they have put so much effort in making user-friendly, environment-wise, and advertising quality for their customers. And because applications are not so easy to do, they are looking for ways to make applications that would not take so much time and money in developing. With this, Adobe, as it is known to provide multiedia services, has developed such application making tool, that is integrated through the developer's own desktop.

Some of the companies who are using Adobe AIR are: AOL, eBay, The Nasdaq Stock Market, Inc., The New York Times Company, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group’s Nick.com, Sharp Corporation and many more.

Click here, to see more information,

Most Pirated Softwares, Last 2007

Yesterday, February 22, 2008, the Software & Information Industry Association published a list of the most pirated softwares last year. Taken account of its success on Adobe Photoshop CS3, the Adobe Audition also receive a lot of reviews and yet another sastisfying customer feedbacks, right after its release last year, 2007. However, for some amateur audio editors, it seems to be difficult to use, since they said that it's "too professional", and that there are some controls that can't be understood easily.
