This article shows how to use the tools available in Windows XP and Windows Vista to efficiently maintain your computer and protect your privacy when you're online.

Free up disk space

By freeing disk space, you can improve the performance of your computer, and for this purpose a tool called Disk Cleanup can help you free up space on your hard disk. This identifies files that you can safely delete, and then enables you to choose whether you want to delete some or all of the identified files.

You can use Disk Cleanup to:

• Remove temporary Internet files.

• Remove downloaded program files (such as Java applets).

• Empty the Recycle Bin.

• Remove Windows temporary files.

• Remove optional Windows components that you don't use.

• Remove installed programs that you no longer use.

Detect and repair disk errors

You can check the integrity of the files stored on your hard disk by running the Error Checking utility, as you use your hard drive, it can develop bad sectors. Bad sectors slow down hard disk performance and sometimes make data writing difficult, so the Error Checking utility scans the hard drive for bad sectors, and scans for file system errors to see whether certain files or folders are misplaced.

Speed up access to data

Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system, as when files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk when the file is opened to piece it back together. So, the response time can be considerably longer.

Disk Defragmenter is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk, so with your files stored neatly end-to-end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.

Protect your computer against spyware

Spyware collects personal information without letting you know and without asking for permission, so spyware can put you and your confidential information at risk. In addition to privacy factor, it can also effect your computer's performance. To deal with spyware, you might want to consider using Microsoft Windows Defender, which is included in Windows Vista, and is available as a free download for Microsoft XP. Alternatively, there are other free anti-spyware software programs available that you can use.

Use ReadyBoost

If you're using Windows Vista, you can use ReadyBoost to speed up your system, a new concept in adding memory to a system, it allows you to use non-volatile flash memory (USB flash drive or a memory card) to improve performance without having to add additional memory.

USB flash drive by LaCie MosKeyto is SUPER SMALL

USB flash drive by LaCie MosKeyto measures less than 20mm with a weight of 10 grams. The MosKeyto is one of the smallest USB flash drives that you can find in the market at the moment. It comes in a variety of capacities, maxing out at 16GB, restricted by its size obviously. MosKeyto looks even non-existent whenever it is plugged into your computer’s USB port, and you can travel with it plugged in even when your notebook is in a protective sleeve or briefcase and as it lies flush against your notebook, so there is no worry about the port being affected in any way and another advantage would be not losing it at all.

Apart from that, LaCie will also integrate an additional 4GB secure online storage from Wuala into the MosKeyto, to make storage a whole lot more convenient and it will play nice with Windows, Mac and Linux platforms. It comes in 4GB, 8GB and 16GB capacities with prices starting from $17.99 upwards.

Indestructible Flexible Keyboard

As well as allowing for more people on a group video call, the update also gets a new fresh look and also stability has been increased. Over all its quality has been increased when making video calls to a group so your calling experience should be smoother than before.

Japan has introduced its latest robot technology, called the Humanoid Robot HRP-4C, which is powered by gynoid battery and it is designed as a real human having height of 5-Feet, weigh 95 pounds, black color hair, and look like a Japanese woman around age of 19-29, and it is said to have 30 motors on her body. Robot can’t move elegantly like the real models that are here today as said by Shuji Kajita, director of humanoid robot engineering at AIST and also said that it’ll take another 20 to 30 years of research to make that happen. This robot is designed by scientists from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology of Japan.

This girlbot (girl robot) is meant to serve in amusement parks or as an exercise instructor in repetitive unskilled jobs rather than as a domestic or office assistant which will require a wider range of physical alertness. The Humaniod Robot HRP-4C costs $200,000.

If you miss someone but you’re not sure where he/ she is in an big city, the Compass Phone will be able to help find it. The Compass Phone will lead you to the person that you wish to be near, by using a built-in compass and its GPS (Global Positioning System) function.

Open up the Compass Phone and it will reveal you a compass pointing you to the direction of the person, along with the name and it also displays the amount of time that it’ll take the other person to meet. The time displayed is real time which is shown either in time or transport unit but unfortunately, such a helpful device is just a concept gadget or futuristic gadget. So we all have to wait till this interesting device is developed and releasesd.

Top 5 Games of 2010

Hey game lovers!!! Here is the list of the top 5 games of 2010

Mass Driver
Mass Driver is ranked as the most appreciated game by the PC lovers. Grand Theft Auto at 1,000 miles an hour is available as a Mass Drive in this fantastic game. The player has the ability to enhance the acceleration of any boat, airplane, car, truck, tractor, tank or little red wagon to insane, mach-plus speeds, thundering across a game world hundreds of miles wide. Going too fast causes a lot of problems and may cause damage to the player. To slow down the speed you have to hit any building, tree or any other obstacle.

Star Wars: Jedi Saga
Star Wars: Jedi Saga is the awesome real Wii swordfighting. It includes the lightsaber battle. Darth Maul, Count Dooku, that one retarded four-armed robot thing with the completely unprotected heart, all of them, leading up to a climactic duel with Darth Vader. It is really an awesome game for the action lovers. It holds second position in the ranking of best games by technology sky.

Sony announced Bloggie Touch video camera on 1st September 2010, two days ago, that made a considerably stronger first impression. Boasting a 3-inch capacitive touchscreen wrapped in what appears to be a brushed metal body, this one packs 4GB or 8GB of internal memory, and will capture full 1080p video as well as 12.8-megapixel still images courtesy of the F2.8 wide angle lens and Exmor CMOS sensor, a great first impression. You'll also get a built-in USB connector, HDMI output, and of course plenty of options to easily share your photos and videos on various social networking sites, to vie with its competitors. All software and manuals are embedded in the camera’s memory that are installed automatically once the pocket camcorder is connected to a computer.

The new Bloggie desktop software allows you to trim video clips and it gives you 1GB of free storage space on Sony's new Personal Space Website. Due in October, the 8GB Sony Bloggie Touch is priced at $200, while the 4GB Sony Bloggie Touch will sell for $180 and both models are available in different but limited colors.

Electronic vehicles (EVs) produce no exhaust gases in operation; they are seen as the environemnt friendly alternative to traditional gas-fueled cars. While zero-local emissions is definitely a positive point, other factors contributing to the overall environmental effect of EVs are often overlooked such as the manufacture, usage and disposal of the batteries used to store the electrical energy and the power sources used to charge them. For the first time, a team of scientists from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Testing and Research (EMPA) have made a detailed life cycle assessment to see if they really are as environmentally friendly as their manufacturers would make us believe.

The investigation shows that, if the power used to charge the battery is not derived from purely hydroelectric sources, then EVs have an environmental impact same as conventionally fueled vehicles. In other words, the environmental effect depends on the sources of power used to charge the EV. The Li-ion battery itself was actually found to have a limited effect on environment.

The study by EMPA shows that the electric car’s Li-ion battery drive is in fact only a moderate environmental burden and at most only 15 percent of the total burden can be credited to the battery that includes its manufacture, maintenance and disposal. Half of this figure, that is about 7.5 percent of the total environmental burden, occurs during the refining and production of the battery’s raw materials, copper and aluminum. The production of the lithium, on the other hand, is accountable for only 2.3 per cent of the total.

The EMPA team concluded that a petrol-engined car must consume between three and four liters per 100km in order to be as environmentally friendly as the electric car studied which is powered with Li-ion batteries and charged with usual European electricity mix.
<![endif]-->
Pakistan is facing the worst flood of its history this year. Millions of people have lost their lives and a lot of them become homeless. Many villages of Pakistan are vanished completely due to this horrible flood. This flood has affected all the four provinces of Pakistan and becomes a great challenge for Pakistani government and nation.

The damages which are occurred due to this flood are remarkable but the after effects of this flood are more dangerous and horrible. The health issue is the largest among all these. World Health Organization reported last week that that between the 29th July and 20th August there were 53,707 new cases of suspected malaria, across at least three Pakistan provinces - Punjab, Balochistan and Sindh. And the effectives are increasing with every passing minute.

Ashiq Hussain Malik, an administrator at Muzaffargarh district hospital, which is based in the south of the Punjab province of Pakistan, says that while the wards had previously been full of patients with gastroenteritis, "now the ratio of malaria patients is increasing". Cases of acute diarrhea, acute respiratory tract infection and skin infections are also increasing very rapidly.

According to the report issued by United Nation over 17 million people are affected by this flood. Till now the area larger than England i.e. 160,000 square kilometers is facing the worst flood due to the heavy monsoon rains.

Two Huge Meteors, Not One, Killed All The Dinosaurs

    <m:smallfrac m:val="off"> <m:dispdef> <m:lmargin m:val="0"> <m:rmargin m:val="0"> <m:defjc m:val="centerGroup"> <m:wrapindent m:val="1440"> <m:intlim m:val="subSup"> <m:narylim m:val="undOvr"> </m:narylim></m:intlim> </m:wrapindent>

In their current study, scientists are examining fossil plants that have filled the crater and specifically ferns, ferns have an amazing ability to bounce back after catastrophe. Layers full of fern spores are considered to be a good "markers" of past impact events.

However, there was an unexpected discovery in store for the scientists, they located a second "fern spike" in a layer one meter above the first, suggesting another later impact event. Professor Simon Kelley of the Open University said that they interpreted this second layer as the aftermath of the Chicxulub impact.

This shows that the Boltysh and Chicxulub impacts did not happen at exactly the same time, they struck several thousand years apart, the length of time between the two "fern spikes".

So scientists are beginning to think that Earth possibly endured a meteor shower that spanned thousands of years and it's fully possible that they'll discover more evidence of impact events in the future

Porsche 911 GT2 -- Fantastic vehicle

Porsche is the most attracting and amazing derive for the youth.
FEELIX GROWING (Feel, Interact, eXpress: a Global approach to development with Interdisciplinary Grounding) project’s aim was of developing robots that are capable of identifying different emotions based on facial expressions, in 2008. Now, that same project has announced the completion of its first prototype robots that are not only capable of developing their own emotions as they interact with the human, but they can also express those emotions.

Sorrow

The robots possess artificial neural networks and a sophisticated array of cameras and sensors which could allow a robot to monitor the emotional status of its human companions, and tailor its behavior accordingly. Depending on what responses it has received from different people, it could also take unique approaches to individuals, in an effort to minimize fear or discomfort. As well as being better suited to tasks where monitoring the well-being of humans is critical (for example, babysitting or nursing), the emotion-sensable robots could also be more easily accepted by people in general.
Special Forces especially army and other intelligence agencies look for such devices which can read the human thinking. Such devices may be very helpful in detection and stopping terrorism. These agencies are supporting and conducting huge research on this project.

The engineers at Intel are making efforts to build a computer that will be able to look at a person's brain activity and determine actual words that they're thinking. The basic idea behind this device is that the activity generated in the average person by individual words can be mapped and stored in a database, to be matched against that of someone using the though control interface.

The results achieved till now are very encouraging. The basic machine has been made by Intel which can by the help of magnetic resonance scanner differentiate the daily usage words like screwdriver, house, and barn. The advent of machine which can search your brain like a search engine is possible but it may take several more years.

Top 10 Mobile Phones of 2010

We have crossed half of the year 2010 and if still you don’t know the top 10 mobile of this year then its time to know before this year ends up.
Steve Hermann, an architect has finished his latest project in Montecito, Calif., called the Glass Pavilion, which he calls his master piece.

Mr. Herman is usually restricted to a small area but in this case the place measures about three and a half acres, the space he needed to create a house with glass walls. According to Mr. Herman it allows you to be one with nature inside the house.

The 13,875-square-foot Glass Pavilion consists of five bedrooms, a kitchen with a wine room, five-and-a-half bathrooms and an art gallery that displays the architect’s epoch car collection.
