John Hendron takes about 25 minutes of your time in introducing DesignBlocks.net - a free resource from the MIT Media Lab. You might just as well go to the website and explore their already great materials. John's presentation builds the context for why using this tool, and its companion piece Scratch, is a good idea. Tools such as DesignBlocks are a real twenty-first century tool that give students an audience for their projects, is built to be self-motivating once you get started, and applies skills in logical thinking and mathematics, along with an awareness of digital art.

DesignBlocks is an example of a Web 2.0 site that offers anyone the opportunity to explore, create, and remix visual ideas. We see it as a perfectly appropriate introduction to the Scratch programming environment which uses the MIT Media Lab's signature programming blocks that have now been licenses for use for developing apps for the Android OS.
