Skype Application for PS Vita

We have some great news for all PS Vita owners now. Waiting has been ended; we’re delighted to say that an official Skype application is now available to download from the PlayStation Store. Everyone thinks that it will be same application like in windows phone devices, but no dear it comes with one feature that isn’t even available on Windows Phone devices.

Let’s have some description about application, if you are not aware by now, Skype is actually owned by Microsoft and although the application is now available for Windows Phone it appears that PS Vita owners have the best version hands down.

The app works in the way you would expect, allowing for calls to be made either through a WI-Fi or 3G connection. One Vita specific feature though that is very impressive is the ability to take calls while you are in the middle of a game. Simply open up Skype and minimize the app via the Home button and head into a game – if someone calls you when you’re playing, you’ll get a notification pop up and returning to the home screen will automatically bring up the incoming call. We expect that it works really well and it’s a feature that a lot of you will grow to love.

Just like the desktop versions, you can pay for Skype credit to use your Vita to make calls to landlines and mobile numbers – dare we say it essentially turning the Vita into the highly sought after ”PSP Phone”? Another nice addition which you may have seen on tablet devices is the ability to use both cameras. Since the Vita has a rear and a front camera you can easily switch between the two during a call to show people your surroundings.

The only downside to the app that we can see is that the background calling function won’t work if you play games that disable the Vita’s network connection. Uncharted Golden Abyss is one of these games sadly, but let’s hope that future updates will see some sort of workaround to the problem. Another minor grunt is that you can’t use the Vita’s camera to take a new profile picture to update your Skype account directly on the app.

Overall though we’re really impressed with the time we’ve spent on Skype so far. The call quality isn’t HD or anything like that but it is definitely good enough for solid video chat with a loved one or friend. Skype has done a really good job with the contact interface on the Vita, while the touch sub menus on the right-hand side are nice little additions as well.

First Intel Powered For Smartphone Launching This Week

Now the first intel-powered for smartphone launching later this week, the company’s financial Q1 earnings call that took place this afternoon, the Intel’s Chief Executive Officer Paul Otellini revealed to investors that Intel plans to launch its first smartphone later this week. Originally shown off at CES 2012, the Lenovo K800 will be the first handset with Intel technology featuring the new Medfield chip.

It is designed specifically for mobile devices. The K800 will first launch in China, and it features Android 4.0, a 4.5-inch touchscreen, 8-megapixel camera, and Intel’s Medfield chip.

Samsung Galaxy M Style Firmware Update Brings Face Unlock

Samsung has released a firmware update for its Galaxy M Style phone. its is a value pack firmware based on Gingerbread OS that brings some Android 4.0 features to the Android 2.3 build. Users updating to the latest OS will find Face Unlock, Photo Editor, font improvements and more.

The update is available via Kies. Samsung will also release the value pack Gingerbread update for Galaxy Tab 7.0 and Galaxy S Hoppin later this month.

Touch Display, MacBook Pro Concept Gets Crazy Pivot Design

As we know today’s famous Apple product Apple iPad, but the iPad really isn’t a true touch screen as concern as the Mac Book family, because it doesn't have a real notebook keyboard or real desktop operating system. With these qualities now Mac Book Touch ultimately visible. That could change with the so-called Mac Book Touch.

Yes, the name has risen to the surface once more in the form of an unofficial concept. This is not at all endorsed by Cupertino, but it could speak to the future of what Apple has in store. Basically, the designer has created what looks like a Mac Book Pro (or even a Mac Book Air), but has outfitted it with a touch screen display and one crazy pivot.

The pivot can work like normal, allowing you to have the regular laptop experience, but the whole thing can fold over onto itself to give you just the straight tablet experience. The weird thing is that would mean your keyboard is now pressed up against the surface of your desk. That’s probably not such a good thing. The hinge can also go half-way, effectively turning your keyboard into a kickstand for the iPad touch screen.

It’s a neat idea and you have to give credit to the Apple-level polish of the artificial ad video below, but I don’t think Apple is going to release something like this any time soon. We might just have to settle for Retina Displays in the meantime.

Samsung Official Claims Apple Plans to Release 7.85-inch iPad This Year

A Samsung official may have just let the cat out of the bag about Apple's plans for a smaller iPad. Apple is planning to launch a smaller iPad with a 7.85-inch screen by the end of the year. Current iPads have 9.7-inch screens.

The Samsung official, who asked not to be identified, told The Korea Times that despite aheated patent battle between the companies, Apple will likely spend $11 billion on parts from Samsung this year.

The amount of the current contract is around $9.7 billion," the source said. "The contract is expected to rise to $11 billion by the end of this year as Apple is planning to release a smaller iPad, probably with a 7.85-inch screen, and to sell more of its MacBook Air PCs using Samsung's faster solid state drive (SSD) storage.

DigiTimes reported that protoypes of a new iPad with a 7.85-inch display had been delivered to Apple, and volume production of the devices could begin as early as the third quarter of this year. DigiTimes, citing unnamed industry sources, said the tablet is currently being assembled by Apple's manufacturing partners.

Some rumors about a smaller iPad first surfaced months ago. Back in December, there were reports that Apple had purchased 7.85-inch panels from LG Display and AU Optronics. Then last month, the Wall Street Journal claimed to have a source who confirmed that Apple was testing the new, smaller screen line of tablets.

Meanwhile, Samsung, recently admitted at Mobile World Congress that it was not doing very well in the tablet space, thanks in large part to the success of the iPad. For now, Apple is prepping to launch its new iPad on Friday.

4G FaceTime and phone references found in iOS 5.1 code

New iPad had an option for 4G LTE connectivity, the next logical step was to assume that Apple would work LTE into the next iPhone. Code uncovered in iOS 5.1 reveals that Apple may very well be testing an LTE iPhone behind the scenes. Standard references are made to 4G toggles that can attributed to the iPad, but there are some new references too.

Cydia developer Krishna Sagar did some snooping around the iOS 5.1 code on video, and laid out several portions of code that seem to indicate Apple may be toying with the notion of an LTE iPhone. Most notably, there’s a reference to “4G_ON_CALL_WARNING_DISABLE”, with a prompt warning the user that “Disabling 4G will end your phone call.” Obviously the iPad can’t make phone calls, so that’s not the intended device for the warning. Having said that, AT&T iPhones now display a “4G” logo instead of 3G, which is what this code could be referring to.

There’s also a reference to using FaceTime over 4G in the same code:

“4G_ON_FACETIME_4G_WARNING_DISABLE” = “Disabling 4G will end FaceTime. Are you sure you want to disable 4G?”;
“4G_ON_FACETIME_WIFI_WARNING_DISABLE” = “Disabling 4G may end FaceTime. Are you sure you want to disable 4G?”;

Apple have famously disabled FaceTime usage over 3G networks, only allowing it to be used on WiFi, most likely on request from carriers.

While none of this is concrete evidence that an LTE iPhone is on the cards, it’s possible that Apple are testing the technology behind the scenes. The FaceTime 4G reference could mean that Apple will be enabling the option to use the video calling service over LTE in the future, probably with a firmware update.

When the iPhone 4S launched by the apple, the iPhone lovers have complained about the poor performance of battery and instead of this Apple's claim iPhone 4S' battery life was worse than iPhone 4.

Now the Apple released iOS 5.0.1, according to Apple officials the bugs are fixed which effect the battery life. Google exploits Safari bug to plant cookies, says it’s “known functionality”

The applications you use on a daily basis have user preferences for a reason: to give you control over how they behave. Unfortunately, not everyone has the scruples to respect your settings. Google, for example, seemed to think it was oK to sidestep cookie blocking in Safari on OS X and iOS

Google’s misstep was unearthed by Jonathan Mayer, a security researcher at Stanford University. You might remember Mayer from a previous cookie-related incident .It was he who called out Microsoft for their use of an un-deletable super cookie on MSN.com last summer.

According to Mayer, Google was utilizing a Safari exploit that had been discovered two years ago.Developer Anant Garg found that a cookie that normally wouldn’t be saved could be written by utilizing a blank form submitted silently in the background as a page loads. The necessary code is very minimal, requiring just over two dozen lines to trick Safari into accepting the cookie.

So what does Google have to say about all this? Only that The Wall Street Journal “mischaracterized what is happening and why.” Google stressed that the cookies didn’t collect any personal information and were only sent to users that had previously signed in to their Google account in Safari.

But the statement from Mountain View also calls what was done as using known Safari functionality. That’s an interesting assertion and it paints quite a rosy picture of leveraging a cross-domain cookie exploit in order to circumvent a user’s on-device preferences.

Google now says that they’ve put a stop to the practice, but this is yet another black mark on the company’s privacy record. Microsoft, of course, leapt at the opportunity to cry foul. IE lead Ryan Gavin quickly penned a post reminding folks that Microsoft’s latest and greatest browser respects your privacy and that you can lean on IE9 for protection if Google’s practices have ruffled your feathers.

Samsung Galaxy Mini Spotted by FCC

Samsung has been launching its most expensive Mobile sets in the market, which for some have been costly- but for most they are the one's no other Devices can compete and rightly so-- as Samsung Galaxy II and others like Samsung Galaxy Nexus & Samsung Galaxy Note are worth the price.

Samsung has been producing the other ones for low cost and one of which is Samsung Galaxy Mini as special Phone launched last year. Now Samsung is planning to Launch its successor Samsung Galaxy Mini II with 800MHz running Android 2.3(Gingerbread) at MWC(Mobile World Congress) later this month.

However, this device was spotted by FCC with 850 and 1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE radios, which means it will only work with AT&T 3G Network or T-Mobile Edge Network- which indicates that Samsung wants the Samsung Galaxy Mini II to work in US.
