“Online” TV

Recently, there is a research about watching television behavior in America. This research result become a warning for company that produce television. This research show 38 percent consumer now prefer watch television show / television broadcasting online by internet. 36 percent between it use cell phone as entertaintment hardware, and 45 percent make online content, music, video, and privat sites or blog for other people. This is result from survey did by Deloitte and Touche. This online research involt 2.081 American citizen that did on October, 25-31 2007. This survey revealed there is increasing in American citizen behavior watching television. Eight ( 8 ) month before, only 24 percent consumer use cell phone as entertaintment hardware. This mean there is increasing about 50 percent. About 62 percent “millennial” ( consumer with age 13-24 years old ) use cell phone as entertaintment hardware, its up 46 percent from the earlier survey on February, 23 until March, 06 2007. And the “Generation X” which is consumer with age 25 – 41 years old, it’s up 47 percent. About 20 percent consumer said, they watch video on cell phone every day or almost every day

About 54 percent consumer said that they make their own entertaintment content, like photo editing, video or music, 45 percent between it make content for other people, and 32 percent between it show it in their own media ( blog ). Ken August the chairman of Deloitte and Touce said “ for publisher, don’t make decision just for have advertise on TV or internet if you want every one on this planet to see it, you have to use multiplatform strategy”. That survey revealed, 54 percent consumer said their socialize trought social networking, chat rooms, or messages board on the internet. Most of them said have online advertise on internet is second best choice that can beat advertise on magazine.

PC That Can Be Your Kids Classmate

In the beginning of 90’s everyone have heard about Intel. A microprocessor that made by Intel has become a main component in each computer. However, Intel didn’t want to be only “inside”. The company that based on Santa Clara, California, try to spread their wings by Intel Classmate PC. This low-cost laptop generation, make kids that live in developing country as their user target. Specially, kids with age 5-14 years old. This PC have size 24,5 cm x 19,6 cm x 4,4 cm with weight 1,43 kg. It have white color based, with 7 inc screen. In outside, laptop body complete with cover that can take off. This cover complete by handle on the outside of laptop. It make this PC portable.

As Intel product, this Classmate PC have enough power. The processor support by Intel® Mobile Processor ULV 900 MHz, Zero L2 cache, 400 MHz FSB. And also RAM DDR-II 256MB SO-DIMM and memory 1GB / 2GB NAND Flash. It can connected with internet and the other device using Wi-Fi and LAN. For Open Source ( OS ) there is three option such as Windows XP, Mandriva Discovery 2007, and Metasys Classmate 2.0.

Classmate PC are made as a friend in class ( classmate ). The programs inside have purpose to make learning activity easier than before. Specially if it use in class that have IT-based and hotspot Wi-Fi. Intel include E-Learning software that can be installed and operated by teacher laptop. With that software, some of Classmate PC and teacher laptop that connected by LAN or Wi-Fi can be change become a virtual class. For study, student just log in and “go” to teacher class. And then, he can fill the absent and study just like real class. Teaching and learning process gives by live voice broadcast. To make the interaction between teacher and student easier, there is voice chat and group chat programs.

If student want to ask some question or answer teacher question, there is hand-up programs. Automatically, icon with his name will blink in teacher laptop screen. Beside that, there is quiz and test program that can be use to transfer the test / exam to Classmate PC of each student. And then student can collect their exam or assignment to their teacher using submit file program.
