iPad 2, iPhone 5, Apple TV (2011) detailed?

Engadget — which doesn’t just run any old rumor mind you — claims they have the goods on the next generation iPad 2, iPhone 5, and Apple TV (2011). The big news, if accurate, seems to be a blazingly fast, dual-core ARM Cortex A9-based Apple A5 system-on-chip (SoC) and a switch to dual GSM/CDMA (but not LTE) Qualcomm radios that can run on both AT&T and Verizon. (Which our buddy Mickey Papillon first heard were Apple-bound back at CES 2010.)

iPhone 5 is said to be a complete redesign, which would be very different than the identical casings used for both iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS. A “total rethink” that’s being tested but only on Apple’s campus (so it won’t turn up on the blogs, obviously). Apple has thus far introduced new iPhones in June.

iPad 2 still seems set for an April launch as expected. In addition to being slimmer and sleeker, it will include a higher resolution screen similar to but not the same as the current Retina Displays (yeah, we’re confused by these back and forth rumors too!), front and rear cameras (FaceTime, of course), and an SD card slot (though no USB, sorry). It’ll also have that Qualcomm chipset and Apple A5 proc.

Apple TV (2011), courtesy of the A5 chipset, will be able to play 1080p HD video “like running water”. Whether or not this is also on a yearly cycle, meaning we’ll have to wait until September 2011 to see it alongside the next generation iPod touch remains to be seen.

Again, these are all rumors and while Engadget is typically solid things can and will change. Apple reportedly had a more conservative “backup” iPhone 4 in case the one we got didn’t pan out, so they could have a more conservative “backup” iPhone 5 as well. Also, Apple has been known to spread disinformation. It is fun to speculate though so let us know what you think — are these the next generation iOS devices you’ve been waiting for?

Leaked Details On 2010-2011 iPods, iPhone 5, Bumper 2 + iPad mini

Take this report with the requisite grains of salt, but here’s what we’ve heard about the upcoming late 2010/early 2011 iPod, iPhone, and iPad lineups from a highly reliable source. If you remember our exclusive first details on the iPad, iPod nano 4Gand 5G, you’ll know that our sources’ accuracy level is very high but not perfect, which is about as good as can be expected given the nature of Apple-related leaks. (Except for ones posted by the always impressive John Gruber, who appears to be getting pre-release information directly from Apple.)

1. New iPods. Apple apparently has three new iPods ready to go as early as this month, or as late as September. One is the new iPod nano, one is the new iPod touch, and the third one is a question mark, but may be a small (1.7”) touchscreen replacement for the iPod shuffle. There’s also continued chatter about a three-inch touchscreen that could make its way into an iPod, shaving half an inch off the diagonal of the current iPod touch.

2. New iPad. A seven-inch-screened version of the iPad is substantially finished and will be ready for announcement either later this year or early in 2011. Apple has been prototyping devices with screens of this size for a long time—quite possibly predating the original iPhone.

3. New iPhone. According to our source—and we have to say that we find this part hard to believe—Apple is pushing up the release date of the fifth-generation iPhone to early 2011 (as soon as January) because of the antenna issues with the iPhone 4. It’s unknown whether this will be a repackaging of iPhone 4 components in a different shell or something more substantial. We reiterate: it’s hard to believe. But as with so many seemingly far-fetched early reports, it’s not impossible.

4. iPhone 4 Bumpers, Generations 0 and 2. To reduce the cost of the current iPhone 4 Case Program, the company is currently working on a less expensive all-silicone version of the Bumper to give away after September. Our source says that the original, unreleased version of Bumper had more hard plastic than the final version, and claims that Apple was considering giving Bumpers away with every iPhone 4 before deciding to take its chances with the bare device. The question is whether the Bumpers were originally intended for glass protection or antenna coverage, and why Apple developed them in the first place.

It’s time again to bring our focus back to the “Big Picture”. The purpose of this blog post is to help new users get oriented and learn what PayBox is all about—and also to help our existing users stay up-to-date and focused on our goals as we continue to develop the PayBox service.

The Big Picture

PayBox is developing an online currency and payment processing service to make buying and selling online easier, more secure and available to everyone. We’re designing our service with the help of a dedicated group of EarlyBird users who are contributing ideas and feedback.
What has been developed?
Person-to-Person transactions are working. Any user can transfer funds from their PayBox account to another user’s account. Currently PayBox is a “closed box” system, that means all transactions are within our system only. Users cannot deposit or withdraw funds at this time.
What is being developed?
We currently have several exciting projects in development. Thursday and Friday are the days scheduled for posting updates and announcements about current projects. So, you’ll learn more about our current projects in a few days.
What is planned?
In time, we plan to “Open the Box”, inviting merchants to accept PayBox. This will allow our users to pay any merchant who has registered to accept PayBox payments. We also plan to offer debit cards linked to user accounts.
What needs to happen?
In order to form the essential working relationships with large merchants and payment networks, we need a bigger user base. What does that mean? More users! We must grow our user base to 2-5 million users (our Stage 2 growth goal) before we can really begin work to “Open the Box”.
When will it happen?
We currently have about 272,000 active users. At our current growth rate, we expect to begin work to “Open the Box” in April of 2011. That’s just an estimate, it could be sooner or later if our growth rate changes.
What can you do to help?
Just follow the instructions on the first page when you log in. Also, please invite friends to use PayBox. Tuesday and Wednesday’s blog posts will include more specific instructions on how you can help. The video and picture quality as well as sound quality is amazing for what the cost is for this Mini DVR Video Pen. If you read the reviews from others the instructions are a bit out of date and hard to understand in the translation. The threads that screw the 2 parts together are loose and you must be especially careful not to cross thread them. It looks great like a regular pin and writes well too.
I have not figures out how to change the time and date stamp om this Mini DVR Video pen yet. I have tried and tried but I must be missing something to effectively make the change. Maybe I need some help on the instructions or break it down step by step to me.

Review #2 : Discrete, with surprising picture and video quality – Glenn –
I’ve wanted to play with one of these “pen cams” for a while, but didn’t like the cheapness of the first ones I saw. This one looked like it had a nice finish so I took the chance, and won. The pen itself looks great – like “just” an executive pen. It’s fairly hefty and, well, it writes.
As another reviewer noted, the instructions aren’t quite right for the pen, but you can puzzle out the operation: basically press once for one second to turn it on, give it a quick click to start and stop video, hold the button for a few seconds to turn it off. The threads on the shaft, where you take it apart to get at the MicroSD card, seem a little fragile, but I’ve been gentle with them and haven’t had a problem.
What really surprised me is that this is an 8 megapixel camera, and the video is much higher-def than the 640×480 of my older hand-held cam. Even the sound is decent; you could use this camera on your vacation. But be careful if you use this for actual spying: the blinking LED on the back is really noticeable. Maybe 007 would put a piece of electrical tape over it.
The one problem I had was my unit came without the 2GB MicroSD card. I contacted the seller and they sent one immediately with apologies. That was really nice.
Would I buy one again? You bet. From this seller? You bet.

This is example DB Tech Mini DVR Video Pen – Gold-accented Executive Pen w/Micro SD Slot Expandable to 8gb, Captures High Res Photos and Video w/Sound. Includes 2gb Card + Card Reader comment from customer : I ran across this little spy pen while browsing for a new toy! The video and picture quality are as good as should be expected from an itty-bitty cheap lens! My biggest complaint would be the included instructions, which were obviously for an older product. There was reference to a non-existent “mode switch”, no doubt referring to the BPR (Business Portable Recorder) 2, 3, 4, whatever. After an hour or so of tinkering, I have established the actual BPR 6 functions: Push and hold button 1 second, light flashes past red quickly and goes to green (standby mode). You are now in picture mode. Push button, light goes off momentarily, comes back on, repeat for additional pictures. For video, hold down button 2 seconds or so, light flashes 3 times, goes off. You are now recording (light is off). To pause, press button, light comes on, you are in standby mode. Press again, light goes off, you are recording! I have found no way back into picture mode except to turn unit off: while in standby, hold down button for 4 seconds or so, unit is off. To verify, plug into computer, unit should be recognized as USB storage. If its still on (video mode), Windows will recognize it as new hardware (webcam). The pen will date/time stamp both pictures and videos in the bottom right corner, I’ve not found a way to turn this feature off. I’ve placed a txt file in the root dir per the (older unit) instructions, which stamps the user created date/time, but will not turn it off! Also, Windows Media Player will not play these video files, I ended up installing KMPlayer (free), which works fine. I hope this helps!

The next project we have scheduled to go live after the Growth Project (mentioned yesterday) is the Digital Delivery Project. This project will allow merchants who sell digitally delivered goods to begin accepting PayBox payments.
What does this mean for you, our EarlyBird users?
Once our Digital Delivery Project goes live, it will open our developing payment service to merchants who sell digital goods. This will allow you to begin spending your PayBox balance on digital goods offered by these merchants.
The digital goods offered could include things such as:

Here are the 10 most expensive production cars on the market.

1. Bugatti Veyron $1,700,000. This is by far the most expensive street legal car available on the market today. It is the fastest accelerating car reaching 0-60 in 2.6 seconds. It claims to be the fastest car with a top speed of 253 mph+. However, the title for the fastest car goes to the SSC Ultimate Aero which exceed 253 mph pushing this car to 2nd place for the fastest car.

2. Lamborghini Reventon $1,600,000. The most powerful and the most expensive Lamborghini ever built is the second on the list. It takes 3.3 seconds to reach 60 mph and it has a top speed of 211 mph. Ambarella has debuted a new complete 3D camera solution sporting S3D, a video pre-processor that supports HDMI, automatically triggering a 3DTV to enter 3D mode.
That aforementioned video pre-processor is designed to work with Ambarella’s A5s and A7 camera system-on-chips for full HD 1080p 3D video recording and 3D photography, as well as to display 3D video and stills on the camera’s 3D LCD display.
As seen in the diagram above, the S3D connects the chip of choice two a pair of CMOS image sensors, after which the image data is processed. While both SoC options support H.264 encoding, the choice does matter. Using the A7 system offers 1080p60 resolution, while the A5s serves up 1080p30, 1080i60 or 720p60 resolutions.

Intel has let the world know it plans to roll out its new Sandy Bridge processors at CES in January, but that doesn’t mean that sleuths can’t unearth details online weeks before the official announcement. So far, three laptops using the new CPUs have been located on the Internet, each sporting the quad-core Core i7-2630QM processor running at 2GHz.
So it appears that performance/gaming laptops are the first to benefit from the new platform, which is based on a 32nm manufacturing process. HP is sprucing up its 17.3-inch dv7 portable, while Gateway and Lenovo (the Y560P) have 15.6-inch systems coming. The latter pair are already listed on etailer sites, though as “special order” or “back ordered.” It’s doubtful these models will be ready to ship before CES, when Intel could unveil a full lineup of Sandy Bridge systems.
One other noteworthy spec for the HP and Lenovo laptops: They both include AMD Mobility Radeon HD 6570 graphics cards, which are part of AMD’s new 6000M series. They come with 1GB of dedicated graphics memory and support DirectX 11 as well as AMD’s HD3D technology. So while the new Sandy Bridge quad-core will help extend Intel’s dominance at the upper end of the laptop performance charts, AMD can take a tiny bit of solace in the fact that at least its latest graphics card is being included in these new notebooks.

It’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that the second-generation iPad will inherit the super-sweet Retina Display from the iPhone 4. Numerous rumors indicate that it’s going to happen, and so does logic and a little deductive reasoning. The Retina Display, dual-cameras and gyroscope are all likely to migrate to the second-generation iPad for the update that’s expected in early 2011 as Apple continues to reap the rewards from the new technology that it build for the iPhone 4.
Or so the theory goes.
A larger Retina display will be a killer feature for a tablet and will help further differentiate the iPad from a growing pool of rivals.
Or will it?
gdgt’s Ryan Block throws cold water on recent rumblings that Apple’s second-generation iPad will ship with a Retina Display. He writes that in order for a 9.7-inch iPad to qualify as a Retina Display (300 DPI) the screen would need a resolution of 2560 x 1920 - which is massive.
That kind of resolution would top every other display that Apple currently ships, including:

17″ MacBook Pro (1920 x 1200)
24″ iMac (1920 by 1080)
27″ LED Cinema Display (2560 x 1440)

Imagine all the pixels of the 27″ LED display (and then some) crammed into the 9.7-inch iPad’s frame. Yeah, it’s a lot.
Even if Apple did include a sick 300DPI panel in the next iPad, what kind of GPU would be required to drive it? How would 3D applications like Rage HD and Epic Citadel perform? What would the penalty be on battery life?

Top Android apps: The best of the best

The Android Market may not have as many apps as the iPhone App Store yet, but there are still enough to be overwhelmed, and it’s growing at a breakneck pace. To help you sort through them all, here’s my list of the best apps I’ve found on Android. Again, remember that this is a snapshot in time. The Android platform is developing so quickly right now that I guarantee my home screen look different a month from now.

1. Google Voice
Google Voice is a service that is so useful I consider it one of the top benefits of Android itself, especially since Apple rejected the Google Voice app for the iPhone. It gives you a phone number that can ring to multiple places or devices and it allows you to access all of your voicemail and text messages over the Web. The Android app integrates even deeper. It can make outgoing calls look like they’re coming from your Google Voice number so that you can keep your real mobile number private.
2. Advanced Task Killer
One of the realities of having a multitasking mobile OS in Android is that you have to manage your apps so that they don’t hurt performance or battery life. Advanced Task Killer (or ATK) is my favorite. It even comes with a widget that you can tap once to kill all open apps.
3. Dropbox
Dropbox is a great cloud service that automatically syncs a folder of files between multiple computers (Windows, Mac, or Linux). This app extends Dropbox to Android and interacts with other apps (such as Documents To Go) to open the files.
4. Evernote
Once you get used to typing on a virtual keyboard (and it honestly took me over a year to do it), then these devices are great for note-taking, and Evernote is a great note-taking app. It is similar to Dropbox in that it saves data locally but syncs it across all your machines and devices.
5. DroidAnalytics
For some reason Google doesn’t have an official app (for either Android or iPhone) for Google Analytics. The best one I’ve found on Android is DroidAnalytics. Another good one is mAnalytics.
6. Documents To Go
The free version of Documents To Go offers a great little reader for Word and Excel files. You can upgrade to the full version (for $15) if you want to edit files and add PowerPoint files to the mix. If you do want editing capability, I’d also recommend taking a look at QuickOffice.
7. Amazon Kindle
I never warmed up to the Amazon Kindle e-reader, but I’m a big fan of the Kindle mobile app. Since it was released I’ve read a lot more books simply because my smartphone is always with me and I can pull it and read a few pages anytime I’ve got a couple minutes free.
8. Places Directory
This is an awesome app for finding shops and services near your current location. From restaurants to movie theaters to medical facilities to taxis, this app is very accurate and takes advantage of the business information from Google Local. This app is better than the info you get from a GPS unit (or app) and better than any of the similar apps available on the iPhone.
9. Tripit
I dig Tripit. It is by far the best app I’ve found for keeping track of all my travel itineraries. It runs on some great backend systems. You simply forward your confirmation emails for your flights, hotels, rental cars, and more to Tripit and it automatically organizes them into trips with all your details and confirmation numbers.
10. Seesmic
Twitter is an amazing instant-intelligence engine and it was made for mobile browsing. Although there’s an official Twitter app for Android now, Seesmic is still the best Android Twitter client.
11. FCC Speedtest
I’m obsessed with running speed tests to check my bandwidth in various places, both to see 3G fluctuations and to check the quality of Wi-Fi. There are a number of really good speedtest apps, but my new favorite is the FCC Test app.
12. Astro File Manager
Another one of the great things about Android (if you’re a geek or a tinkerer) is that you have lower-level access to the system itself. Astro is an app that lets you navigate the Android file system.
13. Got To Do
There are plenty of to-do apps to choose from on Android but I prefer Got To Do because of the solid interface and the fact that it can sync with the online service Toodledo.
14. Gist
Many of us have contact lists scattered across various computers, devices, and online services. Gist is a Web service that can bring them together and even pull in stuff from the Web to help you stay up to date with your most important contacts. There’s an Android app as well as an iPhone app.
15. TED Mobile
TED is a fascinating event that features a meeting of the minds of some of society’s most influential thinkers. You’ll definitely disagree with some of them, because there’s a large diversity of opinions, but many talks are worth listening to. What I love is that they’ve taken the videos from their conference and made them freely available on the Web. This app provides a great way to access the videos. I hope more conferences follow TED’s lead on this.
16. Pandora
Pandora is a streaming “radio station” for the Internet age. You simply search by an artist or song and it will create a running playlist based on that one piece of information. It intersperses an occasional ad between songs but the ads tend to be fairly localized and occasionally even useful.
17. Shazam
If you want to impress your friends with a mobile app, show them Shazam. Ever hear a song being played at a store or on the radio and ask yourself, “Oh, what song is that?” That’s where Shazam comes in. Just hit the button and let it listen for 15 seconds, query its database, and then return the name of artist and the song. It has about an 80% success rate.
18. Dial Zero
Are you one of those people who dials a customer service line and just keeps pressing zero until you get to talk to a real person? Then Dial Zero is your new friend. This app provides a directory of a ton of U.S. businesses and gives you numbers to help you get closer to a real person and instructions for which prompts to hit to speak to a human being as quickly as possible.
19. Google Goggles
This is a fun app that is a little but ahead of its time. It does visual searches. You can take pictures of things and then the app tries to tell you what they are. It’s limited in its scope but it is pretty cool, and it’s definitely a peek into the future. One of the coolest features is the ability to take pictures of text in a foreign language and let that app translate for you. In a foreign country, this can help you read street signs and avoid going into the wrong bathroom. :-)
20. Google Sky Map
Ever look up at the night sky and try to tell your kids the name of that constellation you’re pointing at, or try to remember which planet that is in the southern sky? Google SkyMap lets you point your smartphone at it and get the information. This is part of a new breed of apps called “Augmented Reality” apps that layer digital information on top of real world experiences.
21. Tricorder
A lot of geeks I know like to say that our smartphones are becoming more and more like the Tricorders on Star Trek. Well, here’s a fun app that turns your Android device into a virtual Tricorder. It even offers some useful environmental information, including GPS data, wireless data, and ambient sound measurements.
22. FxCamera
Honestly, the camera software on Android is an area where major improvements are needed, but this app is a great example of what’s possible. It has solid camera controls, full customization options, and offers some great effects for photos.
23. Photoshop Mobile
Photoshop is, of course, the best known photo editor in the world and its mobile app doesn’t do anything to hurt that reputation. But while the desktop version is know for having a zillion features, the mobile app is distinguished by its simplicity. It’s the best Android (and iPhone) photo editing app for simple crops, brightness adjustments, and sharpens, for example.
24. Bump
Bump is a fun (and useful) idea for sharing info between two phones using the accelerometer, and it works across Android and iPhone. You can use it to share contact info (yours and others), photos, and apps. You both simply open the Bump app, choose what you to share, and then hold the phones in your hands and bump your hands together.
25. Barcode Scanner
This app turns the Android camera into a barcode scanner. You simply scan a product’s UPC code and let the app go to work to find it in Google Product Search or a search on the open Web. You’ll be amazed at how fast it works. This is great for when you’re shopping retail and you want to check the price of a product online before buying to make sure you’re paying a fair price.

1.   Angry Birds – Physics based action and strategy, involving angry little birds and the pigs they came to get revenge on. Destroy the pigs’ towers using the birds’ unique abilities, logic, and force.
2.   Robo Defense – The epitome of a tower defense game on Android. Large maps, achievements, great graphics, and responsive gameplay have made it one of the most popular games on the platform.
3.   Fruit Ninja – Who knew that slicing up fruit could be so fun? This hit iPhone game, now available for Android, will have you asking that question repeatedly.

5.   Kayak Flight and Hotel Search – Probably the best hotel/flight booker on a mobile platform, right now. Easy to use, reliable, and the rates aren’t bad.
6.   Car Locator – Tag your car’s location when parking in a large lot, and find it again later with minimal hassle and GPS accuracy. Not too great in parking garages, unfortunately, but open-air parking is what this app was made for.

9.   PillReminder – An app version of what women have been doing with their cellphone alarms already for years, this app is basically a birth control reminder. And from the looks of the comments, very effective.
10.   Mindfulness Bell – Quite the interesting concept – this app rings a bell periodically during the day, at which point the user is to think about what they are doing and their current mindset. Reportedly, this is very good for mental health and de-stressing.

The days of newspapers and the evening news are long gone. With these apps, stay up to date on everything that’s going on in the world around you.
1.   The Weather Channel – This App has a great interface with simple and low-resource widgets. Also get up-to-the-minute weather information make this app a must-have.
2.   Engadget – This is the dedicated reader for Engadget. It’s the definitive source for news and reviews on gadgets and technology.
3.   USA Today – The latest news, scores, and weather from USA Today. A great way to keep aware of what’s happening in the world at large.
4.   CNET News – More tech news, but from the decidedly differently-flavored teams at CNET. Very slick, pretty interface on this one.
5.   BBC News – The BBC’s top headlines and stories in a convenient package. It’s easy to use and read.
6.   HuffingtonPost.com – Keep on top of the Huffington Post’s provocative and informative reporting with this app. Not your average news here, Ladies and Gentlemen.
7.   reddit is fun – An easy to use shell for reddit.com, taking all the hassle out of using mobile web to browse the site. Just open it up, read, and vote.
8.   NY Times – The New York Times in a simple, compact app. No need to explain this, right?
9.   Voter Map – More of a discussion of the news than news itself, but with midterms just finishing, this app connects politically active minds to one another quite beautifully.
10.   World Newspapers – Top News - An aggregator collecting news stories from all the major US news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal and USA Today, as well as many non-US papers/magazines, and web content. Great for an all-in-one solution to your news, though the standalone apps for each source look prettier.

6.   United States Constitution – The full text of the Constitution, for review or edification. You’d be surprised how many people have no clue what it says.
7.   Wolfram Alpha – The computational knowledge engine that was a minor internet firestorm not too long ago is now available in a convenient app.
8.   Audible for Android – Audible, the Internet’s leading provider of digital audiobooks, presents its library for listening pleasure in this app.
9.   Urban Dictionary - Slang has become such a huge part of our language that it’s nearly impossible to keep up with all of it. Thankfully, Urban Dictionary does the work for us. And it’s funny.
10.   How to Tie a Tie – Now let’s be honest, nobody is going to need this app for more than one special occasion, or maybe their first week at a job that requires a tie. But it performs its function.

Who needs the radio when you have an Android? Check out your options for listening to music below.
1.   Pandora Radio – The absolute best music app of all time. Customizable radio stations, tailored to your tastes by you.
2.   Last.fm – Between Pandora-style stations, the social networking aspect of Last.fm, and the ability to scrobble plays to your Last.fm profile, this app is a fun total package for those wanting to be more sociable with their music.
3.   TuneIn Radio - Listen to radio streams that have jumped on board with TuneIn, from local to syndicated to internet broadcasts. Just download and “tune in!”
4.   Listen – Google’s standard podcatcher, and the best one currently available. Manage your podcast subscriptions, listen to new episodes, and search through the catalog of thousands of audio feeds.

6.   Shazam – An app that puts an end to wondering what song you’re hearing on the radio. The app listens to the song, analyzes it, and reports back with the title and artist, as well as links to info and places to purchase.
7.   Winamp - Still in beta, Winamp’s mobile incarnation far outclasses any of the stock Music players that come packaged with Android builds. Highly recommended as a main music player.
8.   TuneWiki Social Media Player – another music player that beats the stock application, with a twist: this one searches and displays the lyrics of a given song karaoke style as the song plays.
9.   Album Art Grabber Free – A tool that grabs album art for the music loaded on your SD card. Not essential, but sure does make things prettier when combined with Winamp.
10.   Uloops Music Composer – A loop-based music composition program with a vibrant and talented community. There’s a bit of a learning curve to using it, but this is probably the best way to make music on a mobile platform seen yet

Sejak pertengahan tahun 1980-an Badan Pertahanan Jepang (JDA), mulai mempertimbangkan penerus helicopter ringan OH-6D yang saat itu masih digunakan oleh Angkatan Darat-Pasukan Beladiri Jepang (JGSDF).

Since the mid-1980s the Japanese Defense Agency (JDA), began to consider the successor of light helicopter OH-6D which was then used by the Army-Japan Martial Forces (JGSDF).

Decided to develop its own helicopter to the role of scout and reconnaissance (LSOH). In 1992 Kawasaki was selected as main contractor with a weight of 60 percent of the program, the remainder is allocated between Mitsubishi and Fuji. The three companies form the Observation Helicopter Engineering Team to develop the program, and began working in 1992.

As a result of OH-1 (given the name of the Ninja), using a relatively small conventional engine and configured as an armed helicopter.Based on the weight, 40 percent of its structure made of carbonfibre-reinforced plastic, and tail rotor fenestron manifold.

Diputuskanlah untuk mengembangkan sendiri helicopter untuk peran pandu dan pengintaian (LSOH). Pada tahun 1992 Kawasaki terpilih sebagai kontraktor utama dengan bobot 60 persen dari program, sisanya dialokasikan sama antara Mitsubishi dan Fuji. Ketiga perusahaan membentuk Observation Helicopter Engineering Team untuk mengembangkan program tersebut, dan mulai bekerja pada tahun 1992.

Sebagai hasilnya adalah OH-1 (diberi nama Ninja), memakai mesin konvensional yang relatif kecil dan berkonfigurasi sebagai helikopter bersenjata. Berdasarkan berat, 40 persen strukturnya terbuat dari carbonfibre-reinforced plastic, dan rotor ekor berjenis fenestron.
