Easily Manage Your Tasks With Google

Most people use a lot of tools for getting things done such as to-do lists, notes in Google Calendar, a couple different iGoogle gadgets and so on. Today Google has added a full screen version of the task manager gadget on igoogle. Click on the icon in the top-right corner and you’ll be able to see and organize all your tasks at once.

Last year, Google had added a gmail labs task managing feature which helped you manage your tasks from your gmail account. Now you can manage tasks not only in Gmail, but also in Google Calendar, iGoogle and from your mobile phone. Here is the video demonstration :

For Windows mobile, the best free software that lets you backup data is PIM Backup. PIM Backup allows you to backup/restore the Personal information of the Pocket PC like Contacts, Appointments, Tasks etc. Download the latest version of PIM Backup.

The traditional way switching windows i.e ALT-TAB isn’t that amazing and doesn’t offer much information about the windows we are switching to. How to use utorrent to send files

Most of us use utorrent, bittorrent or some other torrent client to download music, movies, books,games and a lot more. But many of us don’t know how the torrent file is created. In fact, it is quite easy to create a torrent file and sending it to your friends or others via any of the torrent clients. Here is simple procedure for doing this :

1. Firstly you need a torrent client, if you don’t have then download here. After downloading run the client.
2. Next you need to remember the port number or better change it to some easy number eg: 12345. You can change this by going to options->Preferences and then in the left pane select connection. Lets say you have changed it to 12345. Remember you can only give port value between 10000-40000.

3.After this you need to go to Advanced in same window and scroll down until you find ‘bt.enable_tracker’. Set this to true. Now we are ready to create our first torrent.

4. Go to File->Create new torrent and then add the file or directory you want to send. Next you need to enter the tracker’s address in the tracker field. For that you need to know your IP address.
5. You can get your IP at TellmyIP.com. Enter the IP Address in Trackers field followed by ‘:‘ and then enter the port number then forward slash and the name you want to give to the torrent.

6.Check the Start seeding checkbox to start sending the file. Now click ‘Create and save as’ to save the torrent on your hard disk.
7.Your torrent will start and then close this dialog. The last step is to send your friend the torrent file and once they open this file you’ll see the Upspeed and peers go up. That’s it.

Note: I have used the utorrent 1.8.4 for creating a torrent. Some of the settings may vary depending on the client and the version you are using.

Airtel Users Can Now Tweet From Mobile

The Joint partnership between the Indian Telecom giant Airtel and twitter brings a new facility for the airtel users which allows them to tweet from mobile. Earlier in 2008 twitter had provided users the option to tweet from mobile but had to withdraw it due to huge amount of traffic resulting from sms.

To signup for tweetsms, airtel users need to send “Signup” as SMS to 53000. After this the users need to follow the instructions that come after the sms. The annoying thing is that you have to pay Re1 per SMS.

This is certainly a smart step by twitter as large percentage of India users prefer to use SMS more than using internet on their mobile phones.

Gmail now supports Google Voice Messages Playback

Gmail has added a new feature in Labs that is the Google Voice Player through which you can listen to your voice mails directly inside gmail. Earlier, when you clicked “play message”, it opened a new page to play the message, but now it’ll play on the same page.

To enable this feature, Go to Labs link in Gmail and look for “Google Voice Plyer” and click the “enable” radio button and save the changes. Now, whenever anyone sends you a voicemail, you’ll recieve a message in Gmail and you can play it directly inside the gmail. If you are voicemail user, then you should turn this feature on as it can be very useful to you.

SimplyIcon is a nice, little software that can quickly generate the .ICO files from any type of image files. It is a tiny application(just 0.5 Mb) and it is ready to execute file, so you don’t need to install it. SimplyIcon generates downsampled 32 x 32, 24 x 24 and 16 x 16 levels automatically. It will also generate the 128×128 level if your source image is equal to or larger than 128×128.

For making a icon out of image file, run the .exe file and just drag the image to the SimplyIcon window. It will generate the icon and save it to the location where the original image file resides. Overall, it may not be the best icon generating application, but it is surely a quick way of making custom made icons.
