In this article I'm going to reveal the difference between posts and pages in blogging terminology.

I will also let down my stupid reason of getting into this holy confusion after getting you might think such a stupid I was!

This question might look simple for many but it is actually a tricky to catch up at the first instant because more or less both posts and pages carry the same identity that both are webpages.

As they have the same identity newbies find it difficult to differentiate them.

But relax you headed up to the right place. I would clear your every spot of confusion!

Basic Meaning:

Post-

First you need to understand is that the words post has its roots in the Blogosphere only (as per my knowledge) and also it does not have any relation with web's predefined (technological) terminology.

they constitute the basic niche related articles you write for your blog.

they are automatically posted in reverse chronological order by your CMS in your homepage.

Pages-

While Pages in blogging aim to mean static pages meant for special purpose like Contact Us, Privacy Policy and etc.

My Own Experience:

One of my tech blog on which I was working upon and had few posts on it got deleted with no prior information.(It was removed from search engine.)

It was not receiving any traffic and I also had not been working on it so it was not like that annoying but still it coagulated my temper.

(Check- My deleted tech blog was restored back after 3-4 days of my recognition of it being deleted. Sorry I could not get the screenshot because it was soon restored)

1) You are not using supported browser to view ads.

2) Your device is not compatible.

In this way we may access the deleted post (i.e. published) in google's cached version.

First type in your site name on the google search engine.

As your site appears click on it and go to your site.

Now if your site is frequently visited by Google crawler then I don't think that you might be able to recover way back contents even 2 days back posts also because google may update this changes and remove the deleted content from the cached version also.

So if you are trying to access posts in just recent that you might have got deleted then you can get it.

As you have made through your site, just search for your content and if you are lucky enough then you can find it right at the spot.

Just copy the content and paste it in a new post and its done.

4) Using Way2Back machine (published).

I think internet is full of lot of interesting ideas yet to explore and Way2Back machine is one such which can be of tremendous help for you in this situation.

It is like a huge archive that stores everything every second that enters the internet world.

And if the cached version of your site is gone from Google then you are fortunate because you will not find this single task any way a bit of difficult just as soon as you make through this archive...

Put on your Old deleted post URL and you will be fortunate to find it in wayback machine if your site is in the buisness for sometime.

The method I would use is permanent redirect of that URL to another new desired URL.

This permanent redirect will pass all the link juice (raking power) of your old URL to the custom one that you are going to create now.

So if you have got your page indexed on Google search engine and want to change the URL then don't worry you are not going to loose it just follow these steps and head on.

Just follow these steps to change the Blogger URL ->

1) Log into your Blogger account.

2) Now copy the Blogger URL that you want to change.

Or you can note it anywhere before you change the old URL because we need it to set URL redirect.

3) Now go to the post whose URL you want to change.

Revert this post to draft because this is the only way to set changes in the URL.

4) Go to the permalink section.

And Now set it to Custom Permalink and change the URL as you want.

5) Go to the Blogger Dashboard.

And Now go to Settings > Search Preferences and get under errors and redirections section.

In errors and redirections go to custom redirects and click on Edit and select new redirect.

Now in the from tab add the Old URL that you have copied earlier but don't add the complete URL only add the URL after your blog's name starting with '/'.

And in the to tab add the new URL (here also add only the URL after your Blog's name starting with '/' ).

Now select the Permanent box and click on save and then save changes.

How to set Custom URL Redirections in blogger

If you are a blogger or involved in something similar like a job (you would probably be, that's why you are here) then you would find yourself in situations where you get error pages or 404 page not found or need some temporary solution for maintenance pages.

Then the best thing you can do is re-direct the URL that is sending visitors, who visited a 'URL A' to another desired 'URL B'.

The usual technical approach of redirecting a URL is absolutely very technical and it is beyond the normal understanding of a not so technical people.

But if you are using Blogger platform like me then you will find re-directing an URL damn easy because of custom URL re-direction tool.

You will find in this article how to re-direct URL from within your blog.

Before that let me tell you that there are 2 types of URL redirections. ->

1) 302 redirect- In this type of redirect we temporarily redirect an
URL to another. If you are making some modification on your
site or adding some thing then this type of redirection is for
you.

And in this type of redirection URL value (link juice) or ranking power is not passed to the other URL.

Once you have done all the maintenance work or any other work,
then remove this re-direction.

2) 301 redirect- This one is most suitable and preferred in terms of SEO. This is also called permanent re-direct as once you do this then all the ranking power of one link transfers completely to the other URL but because the custom re-direction is only confined to your own blog, you cannot use it in migrating your blog.

This re-direct is highly recommended for permanent redirection.

There are other redirections also like meta redirection but those are out of the scope of this article.

Now let's see how to set custom re-direction in Blogger. In this guide, I will tell you how to do both 301 and 302 re-direction in Blogger, and it took me a lot of effort to configure and confirm how exactly to do 301 and 302 re-direction in Blogger.

1) log into your Blogger account.

2) Go to Settings -> Search preferences.

In the left section of blogger, dashboard go to the settings tab and choose Search preferences from there.

3) Get Under the Errors and redirection section.

Now, this is the tool which will do the coding for redirection.

Paste the link that you want to be re-directed in the from section. If your link is like "http://myblog.blogspot.com/mypage.html/" then just put the part with bold font giving also a "/" at the end.

And in the to section also do the same, just pasting the name of the page to where you want to redirect.

After that, you have links in the spaces. Now it's time to decide whether you will have a 301 redirect or 302 and it's damn simple.

If you want it to be a 301 then select on the permanent box or if you want it to be 302 then left this permanent box unchecked.

Just that's it!

It's time now to hit the save changes, and now it is completed.

If after some time you want to remove the re-direction just delete this re-direction.

Well, it's not that tough as you may think to create a static homepage, you just simply need to create a page and get custom redirection on it and it's done.

These are the simple yet powerful step for creating Brand awareness and all you get is a perfect situation to be successful.

There are plenty of good ideas to really make your homepage static so let's now move on to the step-by-step process.

1) Log into your blogger account

Get into your blogger dashboard. This will always be your first step.

2) Create a New Page

Go to the page options in the left menu bar on your blogger dashboard.

Now select the new pages option from the top menu bar.

And now give some name to this page like "HomePage" or "WelcomePage" because this is going to be your static home page of your blog.

In my case, I will give it "Homepage" and write some text "Hey this is my first static homepage in blogger".

In this page, you will have to add all the things that you want to have in your static home page like some description about your blog and maybe some cool images or links whatever you think would work.

Now go to the right menu section there turn off your comments for this page because you don't want people to make comments on your Home Page as it would look very weird.

Select the "Don't allow, hide existing" option. Now no comments will be shown on your Home Page.

After you have done all this it's time to publish it.

Now select view your this page after you publish it.

And then copy the link of this page, we will use this link to redirect the default Home page of a blogger in the next step below.

3) Redirecting Your Home Page

Now as anyone goes to your home page that you want to change, we will redirect them to the URL of the static page we have just created in our case.

And it's simple enough just go under Settings tab and select Search Preferences.

There under Errors and re-directions section, select edit button in Custom redirects.

Now in the from section just put '/' because its default value is set to your home page only and it takes the URL of the page to be redirected.

And in the next step, we will add the link that we have copied in the earlier step that is the link to our static Home Page.

So in the to section put only "/p/blog-page.html", you don't need to give the whole URL.

Here, p is automatically used before URL of every page and shows the static nature of it.

Next, click on save changes and it's done.

4) Adding tabs to your Homepage

This step is not very important for those people who only want to make a static Home page on their blog and do not post articles on their blog.

But it is very important for those people who regularly post articles on their site.

Remember when you had the default Home page your posts appeared under it whenever you published articles.

But after you removed your default Home page, now there is no chance to find your posts within your blog.

You can now get your posts visible only through search engines if it is indexed.

I am not sure that if this will affect your rankings because your older Home Page is still active not dead and your posts are regularly updated there, though not visible in your blog.

So, I would recommend that you add tabs to your blog or if you already had tabs then add the link of your older Home Page.

I will show you how to add tabs to your site.

1) Go to Layout section in your blogger dashboard.

We are going to add tabs in the upper menu bar of the blog because it is where most people put tabs because of its visibility.

2) Add Pages Gadget

In my cse it is already below the Header section. If it is not in yours then click on " + Add a Gadget " and select the Pages option.

3) Now click on edit Pages Gadget

This time uncheck the HOME box as it is your default Home Page and check all the rest boxes present there including the static Home Page you created now.

You might get confuse as we need the page with your posts to be published but we uncheck that home page.

We are going to add that page in a different way in the next step.

4) Adding the page that contains your regularly updated posts

Click on + Add external link and a new window will appear there give the tile of the page as blog and give URL as /index.html.

And then click save link.
We got completed with everything now !!!

In this post, I'll discuss how to put posts in different pages in blogger?

I think you will be willing to know about this mainly because of two reasons->

all posts come to your homepage and it does not look good.
you want to categorize posts in different subheadings or pages (eg- Seo, widgets etc.)

I've got the solution for both the reasons.

1) Making your Blog's Homepage Look good

If you have started a Blog on Blogger and you are new to it then one thing that may irritate you is that all the posts come to your Homepage.

It was very irritating for me also. And mostly every new blogger complains about it because the common reason is that your Homepage does not look good this way.

(Maybe sometimes but sites like Forbes and some other has all its posts in Homepage only.)

So now let's move on to a simple solution that you can do but before that, I think most of you do not understand the situation exactly.

Let me tell you that every time you create a post it is displayed over Homepage as well as a new page is created.

So actually you make posts that go on different unique pages, created especially for your post.

In your home page where you have all your pages, you get a link over every title of your post when you click over that you got to the corresponding Page of that post.

Now after that you understood it's time to make your Homepage look less complex.

So now got to any of your posts and make your cursor at that line up to which you want to show it on Homepage. now click the jump break tool.

2) Getting posts under different subheadings or pages.

This one is also damn easy as previous one.

For this, you should be familiar with labels.

You can use as many label names as you want whatever you type there becomes a label for your Blog.

You can make one post come under different pages at a time by adding different labels related to pages.

But remember if you want to remove a post from homepage completely that is not going to happen this way.

Now click on edit custom robots header tags.

4) Customizing Permalink

Then at home is left in the URL which is a very good keyword for this Title.

7) Optimize your Images

You should name the images that you use in your post similar to your post title.

Having image name similar to your title tells search engine

It is sometimes frustrating and overwhelming to do something that is out of your knowledge and needs some technical issues which is not the job for most of people.

I am amateur android developer so I know java but I am not that of master in HTML5 and CSS yeah I am aware of basics of javascript and HTML and CSS but for me making a menu bar is not easy.

I tried to make a menu bar and you can also make but it is very frustrating to get things done in a simple way.

So I get to know about the simple ways to make a menu bar in blogger.

You can make menu bar in blogger in this two ways->

1) Adding third party code into the theme.

2)Using the blogger feature to create a menu bar.

Know if you want to make your menu bar stylish and look great then you can add third party code.

But this has its own limitations->

- Editing your theme may work or may not work sometimes.

- It becomes complex sometimes.

- Each time you add a tab or label you have to edit the code in
your own way or get the additional code from the third party.

I'm not going to do that way because it can become very frustrating for you.

So, I'm going to do it in that way how blogger has recommended.

You can actually make a good looking menu bar this way but it does not have drop down option.

1) First get into your Blogger account.

2) Go to Layout, Find cross-column, click on + Add a gadget.

3) Now add the Page gadget.

4) It's done you have created a Menu Bar.

Now you have to add links, all the pages you created get listed on the page gadget, click on them to add them on the menu bar.

Now if you want to make a tab let's say SEO and add all posts related to SEO then you can do that this way.

1) First, make a post with Label XYZ and then Publish it.

2) Now go to your blog and click on the label link.

3) Copy the URL of that page.

This was the method recommended by Blogger but I recommend you to add code if you have some experience working with HTML and CSS because I could not find any reliable third party sites offering code for creating the menu bar.

What is Sitemap?

As the name indicates it is a map and definitely it is related to your site.

If you visit any authority website you may have found many links on it or many pages or posts, so sometimes it gets difficult for search engine to find them, they may sometimes can't find them and will also not show them in search results.

To encounter such problems we have a sitemap.
[ Note- so called small sites links are not visible to search engines and it gets difficult for search engines to index them. ]

A sitemap is a list of pages of a website to crawlers or users.

It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design or a web page that lists the page on a website.

How it increases traffic?

Basically, it assists search engines to find links to various pages of your site.

How search engines will find your site links from billions of websites?

The only way is giving links.

Although they may find links as they crawl entire web but it may take time.

And if you get your site index on the search engine you will start getting organic traffic. It may be low or high depending on your site.

How To make Sitemap?

The most important part but it has some technical aspects.

But don't worry you can get it all done for free as there are many free sitemap generators online.

Thanks to these guys they make my life so easy.

Before going to Google and find any Sitemap generator you should know that there are 2 types of sitemap one HTML and another XML.

XML( Extensible Markup Language) is a preferred language for transfer of data.

HTML (HyperText Markup Language) this one should be used in our site's page.( not so important)

Check the google lists of Sitemap generator tool.

You only need XML sitemap generator for Blogger(although it has default one but I think does not work properly), if you are using Wordpress, Weebly and other Content Management System then they automatically generate sitemap for you.

How to increase your traffic with XML sitemap?

The whole motive to create sitemap is to make your site more search engine friendly.

So, after creating sitemap the next step is to submit the sitemap to different search engines.

If you your CMS has created sitemap automatically then you can find it on https://www.yoursitename.com/sitemap.xml/.

These search engines will list your site and maybe your site get's flooded with traffic (what's wrong in imagining this).

Our target is to get ahead and submit the sitemap to top search engines, it makes me a sure of the fact that it would get at least some traffic to kick start your site.

These are some of the top search engines but in the list AOL and Ask does not provide the feature of adding sitemap.

Whereas Google, (Yahoo, MSN, Bing), ActiveSearchResults and Yandex support adding site and sitemap both functionality.

For Yahoo, Bing and MSN you have to add Sitemap to Bing webmaster tool (Create a Microsoft account if you do not have.)

Now log in to your account and open Bing Webmaster tool.

Add your site and then Add sitemap and fill in the sitemap and it's done.

Now let's move to Google.

First log in to your google account and then open google search
console.

Now verify your site and then add your sitemap. That's it Just
simple enough.

After that it's time for Yandex, you can create account here. The same steps go here also.

For ActiveSearchResults do the same here.

Conclusion

Now you've made it, I think your CMS may generate default sitemap but getting an extra effort of adding sitemap will surely boost your organic effort.

Now after regular interval update your sitemap so that new urls get index on search engine.

WARNING -> Don't use sites to submit sitemap on many search
engines because Google, Bing and many other search engines consider it a spam practice.

Your site may be penalized and can get it's ranking reduced and can even get banned.

Welcome to the blogging hub where today I will get you know which is the best blogging platform that allows you to make free blogs.

Although the best features are available in premium platforms but you can still build a nice blog in any of the free platforms.

I have included top 4 free blogging platform

Blogger(Blogspot)
Wordpress.com
Weebly
Wix

This is an unbiased review for them.

There are some more blogging platforms like Tumblr, SquareSpace, Medium and other.

I am not including these blogging platforms because I feel they are more like social media platforms. And you can also say them, same as twitter which has more word limits. And some even don't provide free hosting.

The main factors that I have chosen for deciding best free blogging platform are-

traffic generation capacity
features available
usability
monetization options
popularity

(Note- traffic generation capacity totally depends on you (SEO, content quality and your strategy ) but I focused on the default feature to attract traffic )

1) Traffic Generation Capacity

For a blogger like me, I think the more you get traffic the more you will be successful and it's obvious.

It is the ultimate goal that a blogger wants to achieve.(getting million page views or something like that)

So to know about traffic generation capabilities, what I did is I made a blog on all the blogging platforms (Blogger, Wordpress.com, Weebly, Wix) and made a post on all of them, then I left them for some time or maybe a bit longer ( I didn't do any strategic SEO or spread it on social media.)

All the possible ways that could get them traffic was their default ability. I was surprised after getting the result.

It's just awesome to look at Blogger's performance. You may doubt the result. But I know why you should not.

Reason- It is simple, Blogger is owned by Google. The most trusted brand online and the Blogger's blog's are hosted on quality servers of
Google.

And Google crawlers may find it easy to crawl Blogger's blogs.

I don't think this traffic may be from search engines but thr fact is traffic is coming and it's great.

In this blog I've got traffic from India because it is my native country and from U.S which is good.

It is important here to note that though other blogging platforms give free SEO Plugins but I think that they are not so effective as they seem to be.

(I'm only commenting on FREE SEO plugins.)

But, this does not mean you can't get visitors from Wordpress.com, Weebly and Wix. You just have to work harder make social media campaigns, generate quality backlinks and many more things to drive traffic.

2) Features

Generally, Something with more features is always our favourite.
Think of smartphones, the one with more features is always our first choice. If you own a car would you not like to have some more cool features.

So we all need more features in everything in our life, how can we get behind in blogging?

Weebly has more free apps in comparison with Wix whereas Wordpress does not provide many free plugins( Wordpress call its features plugins, not an app ).

As Blogger is a non-profit organization it does not have many features, SEO tools and good themes, but you can download some free and paid themes on blogger.

I think the free themes are very difficult for optimization and also are not SEO friendly.

But don't worry this year they have introduced some new good looking themes that are giving competition to others.

Although the quantity of themes are less but they are worth of appreciation.

So what I think is that there are many free features available in blogging platforms except Blogger but they are not so effective that you might feel after looking at them.

As you know that Wordpress.com, Weebly, Wix are private companies seeking out for profits, so they don't give you really effective features that really works and are free.

You may say that Google is also an private company then why it is doing so much for free?

Well first thing is that Google earns from Blogger's blog by putting AdSense on quality blogs.

And doing self promotion from Blogger and it is also not one of the main business of Google.

So, there is not anything to not to trust on Blogger.

The next thing is that there are you can get many free tools online working more better for your blogs.

3) Monetization

Do you like to earn money? Some may say "No" but maybe some stupids like me say "Yes".

You can really make some real $$$$ if you do serious blogging.

So, it is always important to look at the options available for monetization of your blog.

-> Wordpress -

Really it's difficult to make money from Wordpress.com because all you can do is place an affiliate link on you blog or sell your own product or use Wordads.

Wordads is an ad network of Wordpress which allow you to monetize your blog but getting it's approval is difficult and the rates are very low.

You cannot place third party ads on your blog, any affiliate banner or anything because they don't allow you to embed code.

So all you can do is place affiliate links, get sponsored reviews to earn money or use Wordads.

-> Weebly-

It is really better than Wordpress.com because you can place AdSense ads on your blog and any other third party ads.

It is easy to place affiliate banners because you can embed code on the blog.

So you get total freedom on monetization.

-> Wix -

It goes the same with Weebly, You can do all the same thing as you can do with Weebly.

Get banner ads, affiliate marketing all the thing that you can do.

You can also easily sell your product.( This can be done on any blogging platform)

->Blogger-

I think this gives the total freedom to monetize your blog. You can place your ads anywhere you want.

I think blogger gives much freedom to you in case of monetization.

4) Usability

I feel really cool looking at brand new smartphones.

Yes, the iris scanner on smartphones looks just awesome.

And the much awaited iphone8's Augmanted Reality(AR) feature is also killer.

But know What My Grandpa just hates smartphones.

He don't care about RAM, processor, sensors, camera and all that cool stuff.

He also find it difficult to make a phone call because he's used to feel the button and don't like to play with touchscreen.

Okay just getting off from my Grandpa, I want to tell you that it is very difficult to handle something which is very complicated.

Usability is the product of simplicity.If something is simple it is really going to be easy.

-> Blogger

I don't think any blogging platform is as simple as Blogger because there are not many things available.

It's usability comes with a price. the price of it is old looking themes and design as compared with others.

But no matter as you know everything comes with price.

-> Weebly

Weebly is basically a drag and drop website builder and it is always easy to drag and drop.

It is also simple but there are some fancy things which you have to get used to understand it.

But, it is also simple to use and you will find it easy after some try.

-> Wix

Wix is also a drag and drop website builder. I don't think there is much difference between using Weebly and Wix.

I only found that the elements(tools) in Wix is not so arranged as in Weebly.

Nevertheless, it is also much user-friendly.

-> Wordpress.com

It is also same same as others, you will not find yourself in a situation where you will be itching your head and biting your nails.

Maybe you find Wordpress.org the premium version of Wordpress and the popular choice of professional blogger's difficult to use but that's not the case with Wordpress.com.

5) Popularity

Maybe something popular is reliable. You may believe that all he folks who are using something are not stupid.

I have judged the blogging platforms but looking at various posts of professional blogger, finding blogs on search engine that use these platforms.

I think being the oldest Blogging platforms, you will many quality blogs using it still now. These blogs also rank on first page of search engines for some good keywords with traffic.

Many professional bloggers started their journey with Blogger only
and recommend using it.

You will also find many articles on Blogger ( how to's) also many youtube tutorials.

so you will find easy if you get stuck on some problem.

Wordpress.org is widely popular among professional bloggers but it's free hosting platform is not so popular because it does not offer many monetization options.

But I found few Wordpress.com hosted blog which ranks on search engines.

-> Weebly

It is also popular because it allows many monetization options.

Though it is difficult to find free blogs of Weebly on search engine

->Wix

Wix is not so popular as Weebly maybe as I don't find much blogs using blogger but I think it is popular than Wordpress.org because it allows monetization of blogs through Adsense.

Conclusion

I think blogger is the best platform that's why I use it now. I may have chosen Weebly or Wix but I found that getting success with them look's easy but it's not.

I'm not sure about getting success with them because I've not found any free blogs of Weebly, Wix and Wordpress.com doing great, But I have found many blogs on Blogger doing great.

Even you can run Adsense on Weebly and Wix but I have not found any blogs of them running Adsense.

And many Blogger's blogs have Adsense approval and runs ads and make a good amount of money.

[ Note-: Getting Adsense approval is not so easy.]

Why I think Blogger is good?

indexing is easier and getting traffic
there are many popular blogs using it and doing great( proof for success)

Why Wix, Weebly, Wordpress.comare doubtful?

Ads are displayed by Wix, Weebly, Wordpress.com they may not share revenue with you and you do not have control over it(You cannot disable it).
you do not get much control
getting Adsense approval is difficult

1. sign into your google account .If you don't have one create it here.

Choose an address that is easy to remember and not big in size.Don't use any symbol in your domain name.

4.Congratulations!! you have successfully created your first blog.

You may feel happy ,but this is a small step towards your success.

Now what to do next?

It's time know to make your first post and focus to get
adSense approval.

But remember it's not easy to get adSense approval you have to write at least more than 15 quality and SEO friendly post and increase your traffic.

Now you are not going to get instant and automatic traffic to your blog and also don't beleive at first to get insane traffic.

You are traffic to your blog will increase with time and you will get traffic from google after you get some quality of work done and build some high quality links to your site.
