On one computer the anti-virus software thought the application was a virus but on all of the other computers I have run it on there hasn’t been a problem. The anti-virus software that showed the false positive was Symantec’s anti-virus.

Overall I love this camera, great quality build, great HD quality video and super simple to use (it only has four buttons!).

Some of the features I really like:

Built in USB – no need for an extra cable to transfer files.

Video Quality – The HD quality looks really good.

Mac Compatible – Requires no extra software, just plug in and downloads straight into iphoto/imovie.

Things I don’t like:

Default Quality – when turned on, it defaults to HD @ 30fps instead of the higher quality HD @ 60fps. And as far as I can tell there is no way to change this default option.

Battery Life – Using AA batteries instead of a lithium can of course be convenient as picking up batteries on the fly is a simple task, however battery life suffers. I haven’t ran it down completely yet but I can imagine it not quite making a full day of use.

Google has also enhanced the labels

1) New location for labels
You’ll notice your labels in a new location on the left of your inbox (or on the right, for those of you using the Arabic, Hebrew, or Urdu versions of Gmail). Instead of having their own section, your labels are now above your chat list, grouped together with Inbox, Drafts, Chats and other system labels.

2) Label hiding and showing
You now have control over which of your labels show. We’ve done our best to get you started by automatically showing the labels you use most and hiding the rest. Label hiding is my favorite new feature, since it saves me from having to look through labels I rarely use. If I ever need to reach any of my old labels, I just click the “more” link.

If you want to make a lot of changes at once, go to the Labels tab under Settings where you can edit labels in bulk.

For those of you who created label names like _stuff or ++todo++ to force your most-used labels to the top of the list (come on, you know who you are, I did it too…), you don’t have to come up with clever tricks like that anymore

You can now drag messages into labels, just like you can with folders. This does the exact same thing as “Move to” — it labels and archives in one step.

You can drag labels onto messages too. It’s the same thing as using the “Label” button. To label or move many messages at once, first select the messages and then drag and drop the label.

It’s also possible to drag labels into the “more” menu to hide them and vice versa. If you only want to move a couple labels around, I’ve found it quicker than going to Settings.

All of these changes also mean the end of Right-side Labels, an experimental Gmail Labs feature. This is the first Labs feature we’re retiring. (The idea behind Labs was always that things could break or disappear at any time or they might work so well that they become regular features. More on that soon…) Now that labels aren’t in their own little box and take up much less space, moving them around the screen didn’t seem as important. We realize quite a few of you used and liked Right-side Labels, so if you feel strapped for left nav screen real estate without it, try turning on Right-side Chat in Labs instead.

Savvy consumers often go online for independent consumer reviews of products and services, scouring through comments from everyday Joes and Janes to help them find a gem or shun a lemon.

What some fail to realize, though, is that such reviews can be tainted: Many bloggers have accepted perks such as free laptops, trips to Europe, $500 gift cards or even thousands of dollars for a 200-word post. Bloggers vary in how they disclose such freebies, if they do so at all.

I think the FTC is on the right track, bloggers that receive payment for their posts should disclose who paid them. I look online to find reviews on all kinds of things. I don’t plan a vacation or buy much of anything without checking what other people have to say online. I would hate to think that one of my purchasing decisions was made on a false impression.

With Hunch you teach it about yourself so when you want to find something you might like it can answer to the best of it’s ability with a personalized answer. Say you are in the mood to go out for dinner but you don’t know where to go. Search Hunch for ‘What should I make for dinner?’ it will ask you a few questions to get a feel for what you might closely be in the mood for; chicken, beef, fish, or pasta. In the end it suggested I should have Stir Fry, a Burrito, or Pad khing all with a recipe for making each. All of these sounded good but the site forgot to ask if I had the ingredients to make any of these dishes.

For those of you who are new, Hunch helps you make decisions, and gives you results it wouldn’t give other people, getting smarter over time as more people use it. We would like it very much if you would like it. We like it! So very much!

The information is certainly not something you find contained within most travel guides, but is a great resource if feel like checking out somewhere a little different on this years summer vacation.

AT&T is starting to see a substantial amount of backlash regarding the latest iPhone pricing. It appears there are actually three different pricing levels as follows:

New and qualifying AT&T customers:

• 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $199
• 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $299

Early upgrade customers (iPhone 3G owners):

• 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $399.00
• 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $499.00

No-contract, no-commit or non-qualifying customers:

• 16GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $599.00
• 32GB iPhone 3G S (black or white) – $699.00

The real complaints are coming from existing 3G customers who are unable to get the lower tier pricing (in addition to a lack of support for MMS and tethering). Those customers signed a 2 year contract to get a subsidized iPhone 3G and have only fulfilled 1 years of that contract. This may make sense from a numbers standpoint, but it does take into account the core early adopter crowd. These are the people they are annoying. The core crowd. The loyal iPhone fans. Are they crazy!

Many first generation iPhone customers upgraded to a 3G without penalty due to the first generation having no subsidy. This is not the case when upgrading from a 3G to a 3GS. I am sure if the pricing was the lower tier many 3G customer would upgrade (including myself) but are now going to hold off until the magical 18 months are up on the current 3G contract that allows for the lower pricing option, or moving to a different carrier and phone platform.

Apple should be forcing AT&T to think out of the box when it comes to pricing. If Apple are going to release a new handset every year yet AT&T are locking you into a 2 year contract, that doesn’t seem to gel well with the early adopter and core apple fan crowd. What if they were to offer a trade-in program on existing hardware or a flat yearly upgrade fee that guaranteed a new handset when released (even if not every year).  There are many options outside of the conventional pricing model that apparently they refuse to consider. Any others anyone can think of?

Role on the days when the iPhone is no longer tied to the AT&T monopoly and there is some healthy competition. Apple, please make it sooner rather than later!
