Trata-se de uma versão da série de mesmo nome, exibida na década de 80, que elevou o então jovem Johnny Depp ao estrelato. O ator inclusive faz uma participação não creditada no filme, provavelmente para não estragar a surpresa para os fãs da série ( se você é fã e não sabia, lamento, mas agora já saiu até na Wikipedia).</description>
