OfficeMenu Data Execution Prevention Bug Fix

The build just released corrects the known issue with hardware-implemented Data Execution Prevention (DEP) on Windows XP SP2 and Windows 2003 Server SP1.

The new build (version 1.7 build 681) should be downloaded and your projects upgraded to ensure compatibility. Please let us know if you have any questions.

OfficeMenu 1.7 is now available. New in this version is support for drawing in the new Office 2007 and Visual Studio 2005 styles. We are proud to be the first component vendor to provide a native VB implementation of the Office 2007 menu styles.

ExplorerBarXP 2.0 Public Preview Available

A preview build of ExplorerBarXP 2.0 is now available for download by registered TaskPaneXP users.

ExplorerBarXP 2.0 is the new name for version 2.0 of TaskPaneXP. This is a substantial upgrade, and most of the code has been rewritten. A binary and sample project can be downloaded and tested. This binary is good until April 15th, 2006. Please share your comments with us about this exciting new release.

ProgressBarXP Update Available

An update for ProgressBarXP has been posted in the product update area.

The current build number is 427.

FIXED: Control would crash when clicked if it was sited on an Access Form.
FIXED: Control would not render progress segments under certain conditions.
FIXED: Control could delete a cached font handle upon termination, possibly resulting in the deletion of a font handle owned by another object.

OfficeMenu 1.6 Released

OfficeMenu 1.6 is a major update to our office style menu control. The most noticeable improvement is that OfficeMenu now supports 32-bit antialiased images (both icons and PNG) up to 48x48 in size. Many other improvements have also been added.

Partial List of Improvements and Fixes:
NEW: OfficeMenu now supports 32-bit icons. These icons have an 8-bit alpha channel for allowing transparency and shadow effects. This is available on all Windows platforms.

NEW: OfficeMenu now supports 32-bit PNG images. As with the icons, this enables visual effects that weren't previously possible. This is available on all Windows platforms.

NEW: MenuIconSize property allows for icon size selection. Icons can be 16x16, 24x24, 32x32, or 48x48.

NEW: Images are now supported for top-level (menu bar) menus.

NEW: Property page menu list now provides image previews.

NEW: RefreshMenuBar method to update the menu bar after changing the caption or visibility of a top-level menu item.

NEW: LoadIconImageFromFile method to load icons from disk and assign them to a menu item by key.

NEW: Control can now load BMP, CUR, JPG, GIF, and PNG images from the property page.

NEW: Loaded images can be of any size with equal height and width values. They will be resized at runtime.

NEW: Menu bar gradients (as seen in Office 2003) are now supported on Win98, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and 2003 Server. A MenuBarGradient property has been added to toggle this feature on and off.

NEW: GradientSelection property allows a gradient fill to be rendered on selected menu items.

NEW: GradientSelectionHorz property controls the selected gradient direction.

NEW: GradientSelectionReverse property allows the reversal of the selected gradient ramp.

NEW: GradientSelectionColor controls the color of the secondary gradient for selected items.

NEW: Icon selection 'Open' dialog window updated to support extended Windows 2000/XP functionality.

NEW: Shadows property has been added to enable or disable shadow rendering for improved performance.

FIXED: OfficeMenu could fail to function on some non-English localized versions of Windows.

FIXED: Improved cross-codepage text handling.

FIXED: Improved Unicode handling.

FIXED: Improved shadow algorithms for more accurate reproductions of the Office XP and Office 2003 shadows.

FIXED: MDI Max/Min/Close buttons weren't always consistently rendered.

FIXED: MDI child icon would randomly appear or disappear.

FIXED: Improved handling of menu negotiation between MDI parent and child forms.

FIXED: Incorrect menu rendering on some NT 4.0 configurations.

FIXED: Improved gradient rendering to more accurately match the Office 2003 menu style.

FIXED: Minimized flickering during window updates.

FIXED: Error in non-client area size calculation.

FIXED: Under certain unusual configurations of custom drawing options, GDI leaks could occur.

FIXED: Additional minor fixes.
