Happy Tuesday! It's an extra special Tuesday, because today is my 26th birthday! I can't believe how much my life has changed since starting this blog. One of my first posts happened on my 24th birthday and I was still working at the first job I had after graduating college. Now, after those two years, I'm preparing to begin my third job since graduation next Monday, I have started a legit business, I've created numerous print templates, started a freeware craft site, and met so many interesting people and learned so much about my industry. I can't wait to see where the next two years take me :)

I watched Say Anything last week on a whim..I can't remember where I saw the famous Cusack boombox-over-head scene recently, but it made me have to see the movie again. In the beginning, after the graduation ceremony, everyone's asking him what he's going to do with his life after high school and he replies, "I'm waiting for a dare-to-be-great situation." I like this minus the 'waiting' part. I bought this letterpress print a few months back that has the Eugene Ware quote: "all glory comes from daring to begin." Now that I think about it, I should have made this type "I'm a dare-to-be-great situation." Dang. Whatever. It's my birthday and it's already done. Have a kick ass February 28th :)

Happy later-than-usual Tuesday! What a crazy past couple of days it has been! Friday I left Atlanta around 7am and made the 14 hour drive to New Jersey where my brother and sister in law live. My brother is in the Air Force and is moving to California in a few months, so it was the last time the whole family would be able to get together before he moved. So, my parents and sisters drove 6 hours from upstate NY and we all met for the weekend. My sisters had no idea I was coming, so the surprise on their faces alone was worth it :) I drove back yesterday, so I'm a little exhausted today, but still wanted to keep with TypeOh! tradition, so today I'm sharing something you might have seen already - it's been making its way around the internet pretty quickly. The students at the Society of Design in PA wanted to invite amazing typographer Jessica Hische to speak...by literally changing their PA license plates as their formal invitation! Happy Tuesday and Happy Valentine's Day! Since Vday does land on a Tuesday, I thought I would use it to showcase some extra special words to me. This lyric is from my second favorite song by Ben Folds. This is my first. The best [first] date I have ever been on was flying kites. I had no idea that's what we were going to do, and when he pulled them out of his trunk, they were the boxy kind we first had to assemble. We tried so hard to make them take off on a non windy day to little avail, while park onlookers had their chuckles. It was awesome. One of the best days I think I've ever had, actually. And this lyric I think is metaphorical to life itself. That many, if not most of the time, we feel like randomly flying kites, landing and taking off, always trying to connect the seemingly nonsensical points of interest. I guess I could keep going with pulling this all apart, so instead I will say have a wonderful Valentine's day! The song these lyrics come from is posted below :)

Happy Tuesday! I thought I would do something a little bit different this week and showcase just some regular handwriting. I love Leah's daily thank you notes; I stumbled across one posted on another blog a few months back and have been reading them ever since. Every little note is a thank you, even for things you couldn't expect to give a positive thought to. I love her outlook, and it reminds me that even in unfortunate or commonly depressing sorts of situations, there is always a bright side worth digging for. Fab Shipments

This happened a couple weekends ago. After my massive sew-a-thon (see paper pic below), I boxed up and shipped out all of the orders received through our Fab sale, so I thought I'd share pictures of all those sketchbooks that art will be being made on. What could make an artist happier than that?! Vehicle for creation distributed nationwide? Mission accomplished. I'm a pretty happy little lady.

Happy Tuesday! Sorry, I've been a bit of a slacker when it comes to this blog lately. I've got some fun posts coming up though, so I hope you'll stick around. I was listening to Did I Fool Ya? by Jason Mraz at work yesterday, and towards the end, the lyric 'Absolutely Definitely Positively' kind of resonated with me a little bit, outside of its context in the song. It made me think about the things that I'm absolutely definitely positively sure about, things I know to be true regardless of anything that could happen to make me think twice about them. It's a pretty interesting thing to think about..and having a limited list makes it a little eye opening. Anyway, before I go off on too much a tangent, the song is posted below, new Mraz album coming soon!

Happy Tuesday! It was a pretty crazy weekend - lots of sketchbook sewing + packing up and sending off, so if you ordered a book during our Fab sale, you can expect it soon! I had the great luck of being introduced to the Avett Brothers this past week, and I am undeniably and completely hooked. The first time I listened to Head Full of Doubt, Road Full of Promises, I caught this line and had to hear it again. Since it stuck, I thought it would be a good motivator to share, since we're still kind of entering 2012. So here it is in digital form, and if you dig this song, you should have a listen to this one! p.s. the vid below rocks my socks

Happy 2nd Tuesday in January! I guess we really have to accept it's 2012 now. I've been thinking a lot about the things I want to accomplish this year, and although my list isn't totally together yet, I feel like it's going to be a big year for me :) It's been a rough road the past four years, so I think I'm due for something good! Anyway, thinking about starting a year all over again reminded me of this song by the weepies. I loveee the weepies, and have been listening to them excessively lately. You should check them out (video of song below). The photo below was taken by my sister on our drive back to Georgia. We had a really incredible sunset in Tennessee, so this is from somewhere there, with type added by me. I can't get enough of this font lately..perfect kerning and bold crisp lines..plus it's free! It's Novecento and it comes in six weights and it's my new year's gift to you. Go get it here :) Will post more travel shots soon!

Happy Tuesday! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! It was mostly the same as every year at my house this year, minus my brother and sister in law who spent it with her parents. They stopped by on their way back to Jersey yesterday morning, and finally, the family felt complete. Guess I lost a little bit of time in all of it, just realized it's Tuesday and I hadn't posted anything! My original plan was to head back early tomorrow morning, i.e. 3-4am-ish, but my parents said there might be some snowy roads in PA and part of my drive down to Binghamton, so I might postpone til early Thursday. My goal is to drive straight through again, so being held up because of snow would not make me very happy. 16 hours is enough travel time to begin with without being held up. Anyway! Since it's the Tuesday before 2012, a little wine type - my favorite kind, to ring in the new year. Happy travels and have a great new year's!

Happy Tuesday! Today is an especially happy Tuesday, because my next Tuesday will be spent at my home in NY with my family! Time could not be going any slower than it is for me now; I haven't seen either of my parents or sisters since last Christmas..it's been a difficult year, to say the least. Anyway, I was listening to The National at work yesterday, and caught this line (from 'Baby, We'll Be Fine'), which seemed fitting with the holidays coming up, and my unending love of argyle patterns. After I threw some digital type together with it, it came off a lot more sarcastic than I originally planned, but I like it better this way, even though I think of it in the opposite. Also love the line, 'all we gotta do is be brave, and be kind,' was torn which one to use..maybe that'll make an appearance in a future Tuesday. Happy Tuesday! This past weekend I attended the Indian wedding I had created the invitations I posted on here, as well as a bunch of other items (i.e. programs, water bottles, escort cards, etc.). It was pretty amazing seeing a different culture first hand; I even wore a lehnga that I was given as a gift straight from India! So, there was very little time to get some hand type in this week, which I really wanted to do :( Instead, I've decided to show off my favorite artist's handwriting, Kurt Halsey. I was super bummed to find out he's closing his shop because of tough times..my apartment has a LOT of his artwork in it, so here is my very heartfelt wish that his work returns much, much sooner than later.

This Tuesday is also known as stuff-I-want-to-buy-for-myself-while-shopping-for-others. I love etsy. I really, really love etsy. I'm always impressed, and always inspired by the stuff people out there make. I kind of make it a rule for myself, especially during the holidays, to support independent artists with my gift giving. While shopping for my mom and sisters last night, here are the type-related gems I'd like to put in the cart for myself, but had to tear myself away...

Sorry about the tiny delay in posting these! I was kind of waiting to see pictures ICE took to nab a few for this post, but it looks like they haven't posted any yet :( Neither of us really got much of a chance to walk around, so the pictures I took are limited to our booth only, but as soon as I find any of the others from the show, I'll add em on here :) The two days we were there flew by, but I held on to quite a few fantastic memories, so they'll have to do until the next one. Here's our first booth ever!

Happy Tuesday! What a crazy, whirlwind of a weekend that was. I'm still attempting to recoup and recharge for the week. Very thankful for Thanksgiving and a day of sleeping in! I'll try to get the photos I took from the show up this week; I can't wait to share the wonderful weekend of my first craft show! I came across some pretty sweet type-in-interiors photos I really dig, so I wanted to post a few this Tuesday. Hope your short weeks are off to a great start!

Happy Friday! Here comes a very busy weekend. I'm feeling prepared, still have a few last touches to finish, but for the most part, I'm all ready for the show! Happy eleveneleveneleven! I think it's awesome that two different friends of mine wanted to celebrate today's date with parties, so I'll be toasting to prime numbers tonight. Also, Happy Veteran's Day! Both of my Grandpas are vets (one's a vet in heaven), my dad is, and my brother's serving as a pilot in the Air Force, so many thoughts are with them and all American families who have served today. I'm so proud to know them.
