Hiatus

If any of you have been wondering where I have been, I have kinda gone on some sort of hiatus from blogging. I have some important personal events going on in my life and have also kinda lost the desire to blog as well. Hopefully a good break will rekindle the blogging fire in me but if not thanks you to all that have followed us in this blog of randomness.

Wright played the keyboard with the legendary band and wrote music in classic albums like the Dark Side Of The Moon and Wish You Were Here.

His spokesman said: "The family of Richard Wright, founder member of Pink Floyd, announce with great sadness, that Richard died today after a short struggle with cancer.

"The family have asked that their privacy is respected at this difficult time."

Wright's fellow band member, David Gilmour, led the tributes. “I really don’t know what to say other than that he was such a lovely, gentle, genuine man and will be missed terribly by so many who loved him. And that’s a lot of people,” Gilmour said.

The self-taught keyboardist and pianist met band members Roger Waters and Nick Mason while at architecture school.

He was a founder member of The Pink Floyd Sound in 1965, and the group's previous incarnations, such as Sigma 6.

In the early days of Pink Floyd, Wright, along with Syd Barrett, was seen as the group's dominant musical force.

The London-born musician and son of a biochemist wrote and sang several songs of his own.

The Great Gig In The Sky, and Us And Them, both from 1973's seminal Dark Side Of The Moon album, were his most well-known compositions.

He also made essential contributions to Atom Heart Mother, Echoes and Shine On You Crazy Diamond, the tribute to former band member Barrett.

Wright recorded his first solo project, Wet Dream, in 1978.

After his relationship with Waters became increasingly difficult, he left Floyd following sessions for the album The Wall.

Wright was retained as a salaried session musician during live concerts in 1980 and 1981.

In 1983, Pink Floyd released the only album in which Wright does not appear - The Final Cut.

Firefox Extension - Sidebar Autohide

A very simple and self-explanatory extension for Firefox that I just started using and am really enjoying. After playing around with Chrome yesterday I realized I like the whole browser screen open for browsing but at the same time I needed my bookmarks. So I found this extension that auto hides your sidebar for full browsing and when you need your sidebar you just move your cursor to the edge of your Firefox and it appears for full usage.

Playing with Google Chrome

Yesterday Google entered the browser market with their beta version of Chrome. If you have not heard about it I would recommend reading about it via this comic put together by Google. Basically Google decided to take a different approach at the browser application when building Chrome. There are some really cool and innovative ideas that they came up with. One that I really like is that each tab is its own process. Why this is great is because when a tab crashes it will only crash that tab and not the whole browser. It also allows you to see what tabs are the memory hogs.

So what are my first impressions? It is fast! Really fast! And it has some really cool features and ideas. I like where it is going and how it is open sourced. With that being said I don't see myself ditching my favorite browser, Firefox, anytime soon. Why? First, I don't like the way it manages and handles bookmarks. I have hundreds and hundreds of bookmarks and I really don't want to use a drop down menu when looking for a bookmark. I love my sidebar in Firefox and wouldn't have it another way right now. Second, I can't live without some of my Firefox add-ons. These will probably be coming soon for Chrome but I can't see myself leaving until then. Another current issue is only available for Windows...No Mac or Linux love yet. Lastly, though I was impressed with speed I found through my own test that Chrome used more memory than Firefox. I opened the same 9 tabs in both browsers and found Chrome using 293,000k while Firefox only used 220,000k.

Regardless Chrome is awesome and especially for a Beta version....try it out!

Bacon-Wrapped Chicken Breast

Had some leftover bacon from the other night so I thought I would do another Bacon meal......Bacon-wrapped chicken breast. I was actually very happy with how it turned out. The frozen chicken breasts that I have from Costco I am not very impressed with and the bacon kept the breast really moist...plus it all tasted like bacon. Here are some pics

Garlic Bacon Green Chili Cheeseburger

Got a little crazy tonight and invented another bacon creation....wait for it.....the garlic bacon green chili cheeseburger

Here is what I did....first and most important step was to cook up a good amount of bacon

While I was cooking the bacon I mix a jar of green chili and garlic into a bowl

Next I mixed them all together with a little bit of salt and pepper and made them into patties

Cooked them up with a little cheese on top and waa-laa!

So how were they? In all honesty I used a little too much garlic but overall they were actually pretty good, especially for a kitchen sink kind of burger

You are in a grocery store. News reports begin to come in about the undead coming back to life. The crowd starts to go crazy, and you have 5 minutes to grab what you can and escape. What do you take?

Me....I am going to act like this is a Super Walmart or Super Target grocery store. First stop, sporting goods....gun(s), ammo, baseball bat, outdoor cooking gear, radio walkie talkies + supply of batteries and backpack. Second stop, drinkage....water, water, water, water, oh and maybe a few yoo-hoos. Third stop, food.....lots of rice, granola bars, trail mix. Last stop, medicine.....first aid kit, caffeine pills, iodine tablets, multi-vitamin. Head home....Hail to the king, baby!

Bacon-Apple Pie: An American Dream

Bacon Apple Pie

Ingredients:

* Pastry for 9-inch pie, uncooked
* 6 cups apples, peeled and cut into thin slices (about 2 1/4 lbs or 8 medium apples)
* 3/4 lb uncooked bacon
* 3/4 cup sugar
* 2 Tbl flour
* 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
* 1/4 tsp nutmeg
* 1 Tbl milk
* 1 Tbl sugar

Directions:
Fry bacon in skillet until slightly floppy. Drain on paper towel. Chop bacon into 1/2" pieces. Line bottom of pastry-lined pie plate with a layer of bacon, reserving the rest.

In a large bowl, mix together 3/4 cup sugar, flour, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Add apple slices and remaining bacon pieces. Toss to coat.

Transfer bacon-apple mixture to pastry-lined pie plate. Place upper crust on pie plate (bonus points for a lattice, double bonus points if you can show me a bacon lattice!) and seal. Cut slits in the top if you are using double crust to allow to vent. Brush top with milk and sugar. Bake at 375 F for 1 hour or until bubbly.

Cool on a wire rack. Serve with smoked cheddar cheese slices.

During the WGA strike Joss Whedon started writing a three part musical series for the internet. Each of the three episodes will be approximately ten minutes each.

Co-writers for the internet feature are Joss’ brothers Zack and Jed and Jed’s Fiancé Maurissa Tancharoen . The writing and shooting have been completed and the series is now in post-production.
