Although I registered for DND, I keep getting commercial and unsolicited messages on my Airtel mobile. Then I thought of complaining Airtel and get assistance. So I Googled “DND Airtel” and clicked on the first result I got from Airtel.in website.

I have reached Airtel Do Not Disturb webpageand clicked the Register Here link in the complaint section to register a complaint.

Airtel DoNot Disturb Webpage

In Step 1, I selected Mobile or Fixed Wireless Phone and entered my Airtel Mobile Number & DND Registration Number, then clicked submit.

Airtel Do Not Disturb Complaint Step-1

In the mode of contact, I selected SMS as I got the message and entered the header of the message I got, it was DM-CFP EDU. In the context of the call/SMS, I entered the message I got.

Airtel Do Not Disturb Complaint Step-2

Here starts the story. As I received this message on 26th September 2011, I entered the same. Airtel says it is not a past date. Oh my God! Today is 29thSeptember 2011.

26th September 2011 is not a past date

So, I tried 1st September 2009, still Airtel says it is not a past date.

1st September 2009 also not a past date

God knows on what calendar Airtel living. I believe Airtel is paying millions of Dollars to make that software and marinating their IT, and what they got?

When you have a problem with your Phone or Mobile connection, first thing strikes in your mind is to call customer care center. But many of us as a mobile / broadband subscriber fail to get required information, desired results or the troubleshooting done on the lowest possible time.

There are many reasons why you got failed or took more time to get results, but next time when you call your mobile or broadband customer care, try following the below the procedure to be successful.

We have many steps in getting help or information from customer care team.

Step 1) Get ready with all information required.

Before calling customer care, get all the information of the situation of problem you are facing and as well as your personal information. If you are unable to make outgoing calls from your mobile, write down the below information on a paper (sample list):-

a) Time from when you were not able to make calls

b) Are you receiving incoming calls?

c) If postpaid, when you made bill payment and method of payment

Step 2) Exchange of Introductions

Upon connecting with customer care representative, introduce yourself with Full name and your contact number. Ask the customer care representative name. Remember to mention his name in the discussions. For example, if he/she asked your permission to keep you on hold tell them “Its okay, Mr. John”

Step 3) Narration of the problem

There are many situations, people get into arguments immediately without telling their problem or information required. For example, if some talk-time has been deducted in your prepaid balance without your knowledge (this is the common problem facing by Indian prepaid mobile subscribers, read how to stop talk-time or balance getting deducted from your prepaid mobile), tell the customer care representative that the money has been keep getting deducted from your talk-time balance and ask for assistance.

Basically, customer care representatives are well trained and informed in how to help customers, they are there to help you only. Don’t get into heated argument with them. Help them by giving enough information and other details in order to help you. Ask them,in this case what are the possible solutions they can provide and in what time.

Step 4) Getting more help

If the first level representative is unable to help you, ask him / her to escalate the issue to next level manager. Speak with the next level manager decently with friendly voice. Again introduce yourself and refer what you spoke with first level representative. Ask him to give the possible solution or information about your situation. Know the TAT (Turn Around Time, refers to the time taken to resolve the issue). Last but not least, ask for the Reference or Complaint ID, note it down.

Step 5) Taking to next level

If the problem is not resolved in given time by your mobile / broadband customer care center, write a mail to their general customer care Mail ID. In the subject, it is advised to write the Complaint or Reference ID from the step 4 and also your mobile or telephone number.

Step 6) Get ready

Still there is no answer from your mobile or telephone customer care? Forward the same mail to the Nodal Officer of your Mobile or broadband company and wait for 2 days. If no luck here too, escalate the issue to Grievance authority by forwarding the Nodal officer mail to them.

Step 7) Let’s fight

This is very sad, if you did not get the solution or resolution after the step 6 also. Now it is time, you should approach the Consumer court and take legal help from the authority. If your argument has a valid reason, the consumer court will surely help you in this situation.

But, remember most of the situations and problems will be solved at first level representative only, if you are polite and patient enough and give them all the required information and tell them what are your expectations.

If you need any further clarifications, information or want to share your experience write down in the comments below. Hope this article is informative for you.

I am sure; you must be having a Mobile and receives a lot of unwanted calls and messages every day. When you are in meeting, driving, watching movie and spending time with dear ones, you receive a call to buy that exciting Lifetime Resort Membership with 50% off or sometime before you take time and attend call, it gets disconnected. It irritates same with messages too. You must be having hair style like Sharuk and you’ll receive SMS to Hair transplantation for bald head. OMG !!

To handle this situation, register with Do Not Disturb, DND Registry and within 45 days you will receive no more this kind of Telemarketing Calls, Promos and advertising calls / SMS & messages. Even your Mobile operator will stop sending you offers and promotion messages by subscribing to DND registry.

Even after 45 days you receive these calls and SMS contact your mobile operator DND Managers. Choose your operator from this list and contact DND Support Managers.

Address Search for Phone Number.

Okay! You have done all this, but still you want to find address from that Phone numbers? Let us search phone numbers to know whose number is that. What options we have, let us see.

Option 1 – (Don’t laugh, it works) Search Phone Numbers with Google.

I mean it. Nothing to disappoint or laugh it works for many times as Google crawls every page in public web and store in their database. How to search then, simply enter the phone number, if land-line separate STD / Area code from Phone number with - , don’t add any question before or after the Phone number like ‘Who call me?’ ‘Phone number look up’. Resulted websites, those entire websites are not going to help you. Just enter the phone number like in below picture.

Number search in Google. Surely it helps

Look you got so many leads of Address of Phone number search; here the number 022-30364242 belongs to Reliance Communications, Mumbai office. Try number search without STD / Area codes or separate phone numbers like 022-3036 4242, if no results found. Still no luck, “How to know who is calling” is still your question?

Option 2 – Search in Phone Number Database

Now try this, TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) maintains the database of businesses who regularly contacts consumers (?), mobile phone numbers to sell their products and services. This database is publicly available. You can find address from phone number from the List of Registered Telemarketers.

List of Registered Telemarketers. Database with TRAI

Here for land-line choose the State and District to search the database (STD Code search, don’t put zero), for mobile choose All in state and check the database if the phone number is in there.

Option 3 – Get info from peers

Join Discussion forum and ask your peers if they any details of the phone numbers. They may be searching details for the same phone number you are searching or they may know about the details. Join Forums and get lucky.

Option 4 – It is time

Still got no luck and seriously looking for Phone number details? Is the situation legally demands the details of phone number? Now visit your nearest police station, lodge a complaint and they will help you out.

Thanks for reading and hope this is informative to you. Share this article with your friends by sharing at any below networks.
