CORPUS CHRISTI — Rachel and Steve Clooney are moving to Corpus Christi in January because of their love for Selena Quintanilla-Perez.

"Selena was about 65 percent of the reason why we decided to move here," Rachel said.

"She's just herself. She'd do anything for anybody. She is someone I would have liked to have met."

Dedicated Selena fans such as the Clooneys and media from around the world spent Thursday touring various sites around the city that have become famous since the Tejano star's death 10 years ago.

Selena was shot on March 31, 1995, at the Days Inn on Navigation Boulevard. Selena's fan club founder, Yolanda Saldivar, pulled the trigger and was sentenced to life in prison for doing so.

People primarily spent their time at the Mirador de la Flor on the corner of Peoples Street and Shoreline Boulevard where a statue of Selena stands. People looked at her statue, took pictures and even wrote messages on the bricks surrounding the statue.

Adi Vaknim, 22, came from Israel to pay her respects to one of her favorite artists. Vaknim became Selena's fan after her death.

"I became a fan three years ago," she said. "I saw the Selena movie and I got to know her."

There were no special notes or trinkets at Selena's former house on the Westside. Her gravesite at Seaside Memorial Park got few visitors and was closed for a few hours during the day for another funeral.

Even the motel where the Tejano singer was shot saw little activity. Suresh Patel, general manager of the Days Inn, said no fans came by Thursday, just media from as far away as Venezuela, hoping to photograph the room where Selena was shot.

Some fans toured Selena Etc., a clothing boutique, and Q Productions, where Selena recorded some of her music, on Wednesday because the venues, owned by Selena's family, were closed Thursday.

Two national Spanish language television programs filmed their shows Thursday at the Mirador de la Flor. Charytin, a well-known entertainer, hosted "Escandalo TV," which is on the Telefutura network. Johnny Canales hosted the show "Cotorreando" on rival television network Telemundo. Selena's international television debut occurred on "The Johnny Canales Show" in 1985.

Canales, who is from Robstown, said Selena's impact will always resonate with her fans.

"Selena was the people's lady," he said. "Any artist that gives their lives to other people will always be the people's person."

Selena first appeared on Canales' show when she was 13 years old. Canales said the last interview he did with Selena was in 1994 in the Bayfront Plaza Auditorium in Corpus Christi.

"She inspired a lot of singers to think 'maybe if she did make it, I'll make it too'."

Selena inspired more than singers.

Gloria Menda Soto, 48, drove eight members of her family, including her grandchildren, to Corpus Christi this week from Kalamazoo, Mich. Soto, who is from Corpus Christi, said she could see herself in Selena and that's why she's a fan.

"She's Tejana," Soto said. "She's the queen of the Tejana. I'll do anything for her."

Pedro Haro, 24, flew in from Hawaii. Haro said Selena reminded him of his sisters.

"To me it was neat to see someone brown," he said. "Someone that looks that they could be from my family."

Members of the Selena Youth Center in San Antonio also came to pay their respects. The center, which is part of the Association for the Advancement of Mexican Americans, assists young women toward being productive in life, said center supervisor Eddie Campos.

The center was started six months after Selena's death. Campos said it was important that young women from the youth center draw inspiration from Selena.

"She's like a role model for the girls," he said. "It's important for us that they experience this. It also keeps them connected to their cultura."

We dont know that Joe Benavides will make a better Commissioner than the incumbent but I do know Joe was working and he volunteered out of his commitment to the community. Joe has over the years volunteered and donated his services diligently. One might argue he is only volunteering his time and services because he wants to "get elected".

I dont believe this is the case. I have known Joe for a little over two years and I know his father. In the past, Joe Benavides has run a couple of times for office but, he volunteers regardless of whether he is running or not.

Will Joe Benavides continue to volunteer if he wins?

We can only know after we vote for him.

We do know his incumbent opponent was not volunteering at the Feast of Sharing.

We do know Joe Benavides' incumbent opponent was parading around with her hubby in tow. Was she making a statement? The message IMO was she is not worried about her challenger, she does not take him serious and she is not going to change her routine ways for her constituents. We do not know how she represents her constituency but we do know she is not going to change it.

All we can do is allow Joe Benavides to tell us how is going to represent his constituents.

We can ask him questions and hear his answers.

With Joe Benavides' incumbent opponent we dont have to ask her anything because we have her record to refer to.

The only thing I remember is that, "She could work harder" if she gave herself a pay raise.

I also know she was walking around when she should have been working.

As far as the Family name and integrity, we might should ask the ME about the trangressions.

Ask her about the real reason she decided to run.

What a superficial column! This is never about anything substantive- never discusses any real political issues. This lady is just a groupie at council and commissioner's meetings, reporting the stupid things they do or say.

The last week of the year is when people are making their final decisions to run for office. Something could have been written about attorneys thinking of challenging the rude Judge Longoria or what happened about possible opponents to Juan Garcia but no she'd rather talk about nonsense. If she wants to learn more about what commissioners are thinking when they dress the same perhaps she can do a series hiding out in each politician's closet and watching and listening to them dress- and the Caller - Times can get someone to deal with the more serious issues.

So an unlicensed person can solicit prospective clients and deliver them to an attorney but the attorney cannot pay according to the potential value of the client (and his case). The attorney can pay the unlicensed person reasonable fees for advertising and public relations services rendered . In the same exact client and case, the receiving attorney can pay, give, or offer to pay or give anything of value to a licensed attorney .

Basically it is a housekeeping issue for the attorney profession. It prevents upward financial mobility unless one has a license.

Here is where the loathing sets in.

A doctor receives his clients be referral, word of mouth and quality work performed. He does not pay for the referrals.

A runner or legally untrained person refers clients to an attorney and for every case the lawyer takes on, the runner is paid "reasonable fees" (chump change) depending on the amount "advertising and public relations " work performed.

Or if that same runner realizes he has something valuable, he can take it to a market where he will be compensated appropriately.

Dramatists speak of the unconscionable "ANYONE WHO PRAYS ON THE INJURED OR DEAD UNSOLICITED IS A PIECE OF ####".

I must disagree and let me tell you why. Last year on October 8,2006 my father had a heart attack. I performed CPR and kept him viable until the fire department arrived and took over. They hooked him up to an AED an Automatic Electronic Defibrillator and procedded to apply the shock needed to restart his heart. As my family watch in horror the AED malfunctioned. The rescue squad just looked at each other as they were thinking "not again"; then they quickly scooped and ran with my pops to the hospital. The machine malfunctioned and one of the men who was cleaning up made a comment he said, yeah we still have a few bugs to work out it (referring to the AED). Still to this day I would consider it a God send to be solicited. When something unfortunate happens to a loved one his or her family is looking for the reason and they want somebody to pay for their loss. They didnt choose to have their loved one snatched from their lives and certainly there is not any amount of money that will bring their loved one back. The family does not know how to preserve their legal rights. Who will protect them for free?

I also can see the argument one makes regarding a money seeking runner playing on the emotions of the grieving family.

In the end did the family receive Justice is the question?

A family is prayed on if they are not justly compensated and provided for. If the family receives compensation then the runner receives compensation per quantum meruit.

If there are attorneys are burning grieving families of injured or dead victims; give us some specifics where this has happened.

From my experience most of these cases where runners have solicited the family, the family and the runner develop a client / agent fiduciary relationship. The runner advocates for the family as he advocates for himself. He works with a law firm and barters parameters for himself as well as the family and power of attorney is transferred to the Licensed attorney.

Quantum Meruit - "For what it's worth"

As far as unconscionable, take a look at the funeral homes and their taking advantage of the grieving family. Maxwell P Dunn is the only Funeral Home in town who did not try to take advantage of a grieving family.

I am still pondering this dilemma. With Celis, I think we have a man who has advocated for a lot of families and these families (at least most of them) are content / satisfied with the end result. This little tidbit about him not being licensed has been known for quite a while and he was an accepted asset in the Legal Community. Thomas J Henry has known of this same fact for quite a while as well so why now?

  Point well taken. We could all be wrong. Everyone is out to serve the greater good- not their own agenda. In that way, we may all have to eat crow. Well , at least we won't have to see Watts's face or hear his voice on T.V. during election time. That is good enough for me at this point. Besides, there are more honorable ways to help the community than to stand in those shoes. Maybe Homero will post Celis's campaign donations and where they went to. That would be interesting.

    This is old news. It is common knowledge Maurico Celis has never held a JD or State BAR License.

I bet Les Cassidy, TJ Henry, Abel Cavada and every other attorney rewards people who bring them money making cases. That is the real world people. The laws were made to allow attorneys to retain an inside track and charge the high rates. If the BAR had it their way, there would be no internet access to the written law. It is called a housekeeping issue.

For someone who proclaims his independence from the White House, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn of Texas can still sound like a cheerleader for President Bush.

Speaking to fellow Republicans in Fort Worth at a presidential straw poll recently, Cornyn staked a claim to re-election next year as a pro-war, anti-tax candidate who expects to match up with voter sentiments in his home state.

He stressed his support for the course Bush has set in Iraq and suggested that voters can rely only on Republicans to extend the tax cuts Bush made in his first term.

Two Democratic Senate hopefuls, San Antonio lawyer Mikal Watts and state Rep. Rick Noriega of Houston, are counting on voters to hold Cornyn accountable for Republican stewardship of Congress in the first four years of his six-year term.

"People will not rehire someone who has had bad plans replaced by more bad plans," Noriega said.

Watts called Cornyn a senator "who parrots exactly what he's told to say by this administration and Karl Rove," the former White House counselor.

Cornyn, who ran in 2002 as part of "Team Bush," said in an August interview that he has been a Bush ally on judicial appointments and the war on terrorism but that he has also parted with his friend on a few issues.

A Cornyn proposal to allow greater access to federal records has cleared the Senate without White House backing. Cornyn also is among senators at odds with the president by proposing to give states alternative ways of complying with the federal education accountability system that Bush started.

Also, he and Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass., are seeking to grant the Food and Drug Administration regulatory authority over tobacco and ingredients including nicotine, a step yet to be endorsed by Bush.

This summer, Cornyn opposed the Bush-favored compromise on changes to immigration policy. The senator unsuccessfully offered an amendment barring felons and other offenders from legal residency.

He later called Bush tone-deaf on the issue. "I don't think he had any real concept of the public engagement on that issue," he said.

In Fort Worth, though, Cornyn said Bush was absolutely right to raise the specter of Vietnam when discussing Democrats' calls for a timed withdrawal of troops from Iraq.

If American forces leave prematurely, Cornyn said, the region will plunge into a humanitarian crisis, and unwatched terrorists will plot attacks. "Unless we get the job done, they will follow us here," he said. "And we've got to make sure that never ever happens again. Not another 9/11, not ever."

His Democratic opponents each noted that as young men, Cornyn and Bush didn't serve in Vietnam.

Noriega, a lieutenant colonel in the Texas National Guard, said, "Comparing Vietnam to the Middle East is like comparing apples to wheat; they are not in the same food group. Differences include geography, terrain, cultures, religion, technology, history of region, just to name a few. This is just another example of the unfortunate circumstance we face when we have leaders who have not walked the walk."

Watts said, "I don't think there is a plan for victory in Iraq. ... We have to stay in the region, but I don't think we should be standing around on street corners getting shot at while we observe someone else's civil war."

On the domestic front, Cornyn charged Democrats with planning not to extend tax cuts enacted at Bush's request starting in 2001. Barring congressional action, cuts of income, capital gains, dividends and other taxes will expire in 2011.

On Capitol Hill, the cuts are rated either Bush's keystone domestic achievement or a gift to the nation's wealthiest residents.

The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimates that extending the tax cuts would cost the government more than $1.8 trillion through 2017.

Tax-cut advocates say such money rightly belongs to taxpayers.

Cornyn's take: Democrats will let into law the biggest tax increase in history.

"They're going to do it without a single vote unless we get the majority back," he said. "They're going to do it because the tax relief that we passed under President Bush back in 2003 will expire unless we make it permanent. And we have to get the majority back and keep taxes low and keep America growing."

Watts said he would review each tax cut one by one but opposes extending cuts for the wealthy as long as government runs a deficit.

Noriega called it "blatantly false" to forecast all the cuts vanishing.

Nationally, 52 percent of voters favored making the tax cuts permanent in a poll conducted this year by Moore Information, an Oregon-based research firm. Thirty-eight percent preferred to let the cuts expire, and 10 percent had no opinion.

Republicans and a plurality of independents supported making the cuts permanent. A majority of Democrats wished to see them expire.

About half of respondents agreed that the cuts should be extended only for households with annual incomes of less than $150,000. About a third of voters favored making the cuts permanent for everyone.

Jason Furman, an economist and senior fellow with the Brookings Institution, an independent research outfit, testified before the House Ways and Means Committee last week that extending the cuts would widen after-tax income gaps between Americans.

Furman said a best-case U.S. Treasury projection suggests an extremely slight impact on the economy, with extended cuts more likely increasing the national debt and reducing government savings.

An eventual need to repay the cuts, he said, would drive down disposable income as taxpayers see cuts in government programs or bumps in taxes to bankroll the cuts, leaving at least three in four households with lower after-tax incomes.

"There is no free lunch because, ultimately, the government faces a budget constraint," Furman said.

Nothing Focuses The Mind as Much as Electoral Peril

I have a confession to make.

I used to think John Cornyn was okay for a Republican. I grew up in AZ with Republicans like Barry Goldwater and Paul Fannin (okay, yes, and Evan Meacham, but nobody liked him by the time we got to know him) . These were Republicans we could fight like hell with and still respect as basically decent human beings.

I thought John Cornyn was one of those when he was Atty General. I didn’t know at the time about his brush with the soon to be infamous Jack Abramoff.

Reagan,..... I liked Reagan; the Iranians responded to his election ascension to the Oval office. I didnt like Peter Grace but I liked Oliver North and I liked WATT they were doing in Central & South America. After all of the research into the Church Universal and residing in the richest diocese in the world, I don't know that I agree with it all now. As far as Ambramoff, we have to look to the origins. The Ambramoff "all we need is an Indian" establishment of Gambling rackets appears to materialize out of the creation of the Office of Indian Gaming Management

In example I submit Saldano v Texas where Junior John furnishes the disingenuous reasoning of civil rights violations to confess error.

Before the Supreme Court, the Attorney General of the State of Texas (Junior John) assumed representation of the State. 1 The Attorney General confessed error in Saldano’s sentencing and declined to raise Saldano’s procedural default as a defense. The Supreme Court vacated the judgment against Saldano and “remanded to the Court of Criminal Appeals of Texas for further consideration in light of the confession of error.” Saldano v. Texas , 530 U.S. 1212, 1212 (2000). 2

Cornyn's Confession of error in the US Sup Court (Saldano v. State) is made
out to present the image that Cornyn stood up for Civil Rights. Junior John's PR
team takes the opportunity and flaunts the confession of error as a defense of civil rights, "The Texas solicitor general, John Cornyn, is to be praised for the confession of error, for his review to find other such cases, and for his position that it was "inappropriate" and "improper" for the state to urge jurors to consider race and ethnicity in determining a criminal's "future dangerousness.

The real reason Junior John confessed error was to achieve a GVR from SCOTUS and get it back to the Texas Court System.

Junior John by confessing error, wiggled out of placing civil rights violations and fallacial argument ("the correlation of race and recidivism did not constitute fundamental error") in the hands of U S
Supreme Court.

Junior John supported this position but it would have entertained serious Civil Rights violations and draw the wrath of Public Opinion .

On remand to the CCA the court found that "evidence regarding the correlation of race and
recidivism did not constitute fundamental error and that "the State's
confession of error in the Supreme Court of the United
States is contrary to our state's procedural law for presenting a claim on
appeal, as well as the Supreme Court's enforcement of such procedural law
when it is presented with equal-protection claims."
Saldano v. State, 70 S.W.3d 873, 891 (Tex. Crim. App. 2002).

Now, the State of Texas' procedure on confession of error conflicts with the U S Supreme Courts' procedure which reveals, that it wasn't Junior John standing up for Civil Rights but Junior John practicing Political Expediency. Junior John's actions were nothing
more than a way to cheat due process. Junior John was crying uncle so he could get back up and throw a sucker punch by proxy via the CCA.

Junior John was appointed to the Senate (originally) which allowed him to gain name recognition and gain favor from sycophantically serving the extreme right wing and their agenda. In the war against humanity with his immigration policy. While now, trying to renege on certain policy making attempts to build a wall along our whole Southern Border that he was absolutely promoting, is he not now claiming he never supported it and that National Policy never supported it. Then he flips to a fence and finally to a fence in certain areas. Junior John remains against amnesty. Junior John voted against granting amnesty to 12 million immigrants who already reside within our borders and who for the majority are productive human beings who supply a labor niche we depend on. ,

If Junior John wanted these things; then surely, he would have already "put in a good word" for us doncha figure?

I cannot envision Junior John compromising his racist hater vote demographic for middle ground with respect to the amnesty issue. IMO he identifies with the Smith County mentality and this mentality (not limited to Smith County) is where Junior John is firmly rooted.

But this is Texas, and we’ve all heard about how Republicans rule in Texas. I thought this was as good as it was going to get.

Then, when Abu Ghraib Gonzales was up for confirmation as Atty General of the United States, I decided to write my United States Senators about my concerns. I didn’t think that an apologist for torture who described international treaties as “quaint” was someone who could be trusted with the Constitution.

I got back a form lecture about how Box Turtle John’s Best Friend Forever, Alberto Gonzales, had pulled himself up by his immigrant bootstraps (which somehow got attached to George W. Bush’s coattails) and those of us who objected to this gifted (if tiny) one’s ascension from Presidential toady to Atty General were being a little bit anti-immigrant and racist.

Not one word about Abu Ghraib, or the now revealed atrocities perpetrated by Tiny Al as White House Counsel. No reassurance of any kind that Congressional oversight would be invoked to protect my and my fellow citizens rights. That was the moment I swore I’d find some way to get a new U.S. Senator. Eventually that did lead me to the Draft Rick Noriega movement..

The Constitution is not the applicable law. In the Abu Gharib prison or the confinement of enemy prisoners "all is fair in war". The captured enemy is information and intel. Two Democrats who are exploring runs against Cornyn next year — San Antonio lawyer Michael Watts and state Rep. Rick Noriega of Houston — said Gonzales should resign. Noriega said Cornyn has sharpened his criticism of Gonzales because he’s got an eye on the 2008 election, and Watts said Cornyn “will never call for his resignation unless Karl Rove gives him permission.”

I’m clearly a Noriega supporter, but the fact is either of the Democratic contenders would be a step up from Box Turtle John.

It’s a nice position for Dems to be in, but we have to remember the object lesson of the California Governor’s race last year-which had such a poisonously divisive primary that a weak incumbent returned to office, and two leading lights of the California Democratic primary damaged each other in the eyes of the electorate-possibly permanently.

Fight hard in the primary, but don’t salt the earth. We need to unite behind our standard bearer in the general election, or we’ll have another six years of Box Turtle John.

Last year and including May 1, 2007, the immigrant
population, their families, friends and supporters for
immigration reform have marched in huge numbers
totaling millions throughout cities around the
country. Their ability to organize and vote resulted
in the unexpected control of both houses by Democrats.
Even President Bush surrounded by his cabinet with
frowning looks conceded defeat live on national news
networks.
Immigrants, advocacy groups and supporters have united
for a common cause throughout the nation. Their
efforts have yet to be taken seriously by those
opposing the legalization of the 12 million
undocumented immigrants already in the country.
What alternatives do immigrants have for now to get
the immigration issue resolve in the near future?
Immigration advocates could argue by looking at the
current situation that undocumented immigrants are
left with few options. But today, there is one
rewarding option which has not been fully utilized by
immigrants.
Immigrants need an effective strategy for financial
management of their economic purchasing power which
totals in the billions of dollars to influence
immigration reform. People from across the country
have suggested for financial management of our
expenditures and are waiting for the inevitable. The
national call for action is the inevitable.
Our success to bring about a just immigration reform
depends on every individual and persons willing to
adjust their spending practices. Today, we spend our
money just about anywhere and on anything without
realizing who actually ends up with our money. The
Senate’s decision to block immigration reform sends

Immigration Reform Now” and display a copy of a
certified letter sent to their Congress and U.S.
Senate Representative requesting support. If they
don’t know about it, feel free to advise them to post
one up as soon as they can.
Once we are able to manage our purchasing power as a
united effort throughout the nation, then we can
accomplish our quest to influence the passage of a
just immigration reform. Why has September 17 been
chosen as the target date to actually begin our full
strategic action throughout the nation. It’s the day

communities with largely Hispanic populations
throughout our nation recognize and celebrate the

Opponents of immigration reform claim that a large
portion of Hispanics in the country are undocumented.
In conjunction with September, Hispanic Heritage month

truly Hispanics and immigrants have contributed to our

contributions Latinos and non Latinos have done while
working along side each other for the welfare,

What do we want?

Go do some homework, we want responsive representation with transparent operation.

We want to not be railroaded for tardies or for absences when the District does not practice due diligence in interdicting but is very diligent in recording the events and adamantly prosecutes and collects half of the fine. When the people cant pay the kids are picked up from class and taken in handcuffs to the court of nonrecord. The Parent is contacted and ordered to appear immediately. When the Parent arrives he or she is told to pay or your kid goes to jail and sometimes the parent is threatened and / or locked up as well. I have never seen a kid who has been provided counsel but I have witnessed many a kid go to jail.

And this from non responsive legislators who have enabled the School Administration to blame the parent when they allow children in their custody to roam at large unaccounted for and the District in coordination with the Courts of non record get paid (profit) from it.

I would rather see him correct the errors and run for Governor or Ascend to the Texas Supreme Court. Now, John Cornyn has "Confessed Error" and I assure you it wasn't out of fairness but in the essence of knocking the checkers off of the Table because he was going to lose. And Carlos Valdez & John Hubert "Confess Error" on appeal from the 105th. Hubert & Valdez "confess error" so they can conceal Mary Cano. And that is as painless as it gets.

A Monday noontime fundraiser at Vietnam restaurant for U.S. Senate hopeful Mikal Watts was a who's who of the local bar association and judiciary, including five district judges. Watts, who is living in San Antonio, told the crowd that "nobody knows Mikal Watts better than Corpus Christi."

Watts, a Democrat, who is seeking the seat held by Republican Sen. John Cornyn, asked the gathering to dig through their Rolodexes and e-mail address lists because he hopes to compile a statewide database to reach Democratic voters that can be used by all Texas Democrats.

"That way, when Judge (J. Manuel) Bañales runs for mayor he can use it," Watts joked, to uproarious laughter from the crowd and a big grin from Bañales, who was sitting on the front row.

The lawsuit is because the network lured him away from Univision because he was one of the "load bearing columns". Subsequently, he found out the above information. The network Telemundo consists of executives who would burn their own mother to achieve. Johnny is a millionaire many times over, this is about pay back. This lawsuit precipitates many an executive being fired. Numerous Telemundo affiliates and their employees are in support of this man. This lawsuit demands $100 million but innately it will be a litmus test for corporate America and their "culturally correct" community affairs programs. This is true you will learn in the next few years.

All Johnny asks, is for them to explain WHY.

For some reason,the question has been asked many times but Telemundo cannot answer.

There are alot of TV shows that are canceled by all different TV stations. What's the difference.? Mr. Canales just has to find other avenues to make a living. Telemundo was just doing what they thought was best for their station and life goes on. Like you say Mr. Canales "You got it! Take it away!

If I remember correctly the first time he complained publically about Telemundo was that they didnt like the type of bands he was promoting.

It sounded like Telemondo was a little racist against those bands.
Perhaps they wanted more natural blond blue/green eyed Mexicans. Not the dark complexion.

About a year ago Johnny Canales tried to get LULAC to support a boycott of Telemundo because Canales claimed he was being discriminated against because of his Mexican origin. This request was shelved. LULAC said they wanted to wait until Canales negotiations were over with Telemundo. I guess they are over now!

I dont think this thing will ever get to court. As for being frivolous, we must look at the reason for bringing it to the Court.

Breaches of contract are a viable reason to sue if the parties cannot come to terms. All Johnny has requested was for the Telemundo executives to tell him why? Since they cannot answer, the only way else is to bring the executives in and depose them. Make them fight with one another.

It is not about him getting back on the air; there are networks all over the country paying to broadcast the reruns. I dont see Johnny asking anybody for anything; but I do believe he has tremendous support in South Texas as well as nationwide and in Congress. LULAC & the American GI Forum have both adopted resolutions to Boycott Telemundo and it's advertisers. One conflict for the National LULAC is that Telemundo is a big contributor on the national level, our local chapters realize zero.

First of all Johnny was locked into a contract. IMO, Johnny should have accepted another offer and then it would have been Telemundo filing suit.

It is SOP in some industries to purchase the rights to something they never intend to go forward with. A few examples of this:

oil industry / auto industry - How many patents have been purchased from inventors in the interest of not using them. Say like maybe a carburetor that can get 100 or 200 mpg or an Auto safety device that will cost too much to include but they don't want another company to acquire it either.

A book that reveals too much. I have possession of one such book purchased by the richest diocese in the world and it was never published. Think, if the church could have purchased the Da Vinci Code book before it was published? If they would have purchased it do you think it would have been censored or published?

Mike Tyson, remember when he was knocking everyone out in the first round? What was it doing to the industry and the gambling industry? The fights were too short, the odds were one sided the networks were losing in advertising. It is like when a sports series of 7 games is over in 4 or 5 games.

There is a political agenda, it has nothing to do with ratings or popularity. The music of South Texas has proved very influential in it's ascension. Johnny successfully promoted Tejano music which conflicted with merengue, both types of music promoted a public policy ideology. Now, where is a Tejano Music launching pad like the one we had in the Johnny Canales show. The Merengue is more sex than music, Telemundo wanted to quash the rumble in South Texas. And we wonder why we don't have a law school or a Medical School below San Antonio.

The lawsuit claims the network engaged in fraudulent and deceptive business practices against Canales, interfered with other business opportunities and ruined Canales reputation.

"When that contract ended, Canales signed a 34-week contract, which also ended," Canales' attorney Robert Heil III said.

After that contract, Canales was negotiating with Telemundo to keep his show, "The Johnny Canales Show", on air.

"Telemundo led Canales on for about 9 months, before canceling his show," Heil said.

"The money in which Canales is seeking is for economic damages and damage to Canales reputation," Heil said.

"Mr. Canales has expressed to me that he believes he has 100 million fans all over the world," Heil said. "With that many fans, that is the number that is satisfying to him."
