1) Great Product - I own 4 of these. We decided to forego the ridiculous fees for cable this year. Tired of paying for garbage programming/commercials that the cable companies provide in exchange for the ridiculous fees they charge. I will no longer be hostage to their lack of service. This is a fantastic product that has given me the freedom to be in charge of what I WANT to watch. So easy to use. Bought one for my elderly father as well. He also really enjoys this. 1) Love Samsung TVs! - I don't have time to write a lot of reviews. When I do, it's either because I'm really pleased or really peaved about a purchase. In this case, I just have to put my two cents in about this TV, and Samsung TVs in general.

Picture Quality
We have several LCD / LEDs in the house, both Sonys and Samsungs (including this one - the UN28H4000). The picture quality of all of them is beyond amazing with sharp lines, vibrant colors and deep blacks. All are great for viewing everything from the news to football games. I'm not really a "gamer", but they all seem to display the action from my Xbox nicely too.

Sound Quality
Where Samsung separates itself is in the sound in these smaller TVs. With a big screen, you're almost sure to want to combine it with some kind of separate sound system (surround, sound bar, etc.). But darn it, I didn't want to HAVE to buy a separate sound system for a small TV that's going in the kitchen. Samsung is the only brand I've found that comes with adequate speakers, which seem to be full-range as opposed to most others which emit treble and mids only. I wouldn't say this Samsung sounds "great" (we do have both a Bose surround system and a Sonos sound bar in the house). But it has a nice full sound that's certainly *better than* good enough for watching - and listening to - whatever show we're interested in while having dinner or a midnight snack. All the other brands I've heard sound like overdriven headphones when turned up beyond a whisper, and that includes Sony, LG, Visio and Toshiba.

True, this TV is not a "smart" TV. You won't be streaming Netflix or your favorite TV from Amazon without a secondary device. But it doesn't - as others have stated - claim to be a smart TV in this ad, and that's not what I was after (however, in defense of those other reviewers, it does show up as a smart TV in a comparison table I found here on Amazon, and that is incorrect). So for what it is, I give it 5 stars!

1) Just totally and utterly beautiful - I'm coming to this Macbook Pro 13inch Retina laptop from a 2010 model Macbook Air that I absolutely adored for nearly 4 years. The Air was so light and portable that I reluctantly gave it up, but concerns of weight vanished once I got my hands on this beauty. Yes, it's slightly heavier, but only slightly. What I like most of all is how the body isn't tapered from back to front like the Air. It's a solid piece of symmetrical aluminum, and it just feels so well built.

One of the reasons I eventually gave up and sold my Air in favor of this was the Retina screen. I've never seen one on the Macbooks, so I bought this sight unseen, but I had a vague idea of how it might look because I also own a retina iPad Mini and that screen is lovely. The screen on the mini is out-done by the amazing screen on this Macbook. I can't believe how good it is. And what's more, this Macbook only cost 100 dollars more than the latest Air. Why would anyone not pay the difference for this screen? It's totally night and day between the Air's screen and this one. The Air is by no means terrible, but it cant compete with this.

The audio is also a nice surprise on the Macbook with Retina. It was good on my Air, but it's far better on the Retina. There's no speaker grills either, so I assume they're below the keyboard. Regardless they sound amazing, albeit low on bass.

My Air didnt have a backlit keyboard, so this was a nice surprise. No more hunting and hoping at night in bed. Another nice addition I didnt have before was HDMI-out. Now I can simply connect my Macbook to my HDTV and play Hulu on my TV. No reason to pay for Hulu Plus. On my other computer it wouldnt allow Hulu to output to TV, but its not being blocked on the Macbook for some reason. I wont complain.

Anyway, I'd list some dislikes, but I don't have any. The keyboard and trackpad are Apple's usual brilliant keyboard and trackpad. They're unmatched.

If you're on the fence about getting one, just go for it. I'm one of those people that easily get buyer's remorse, but I have none of that with this laptop. So good.

1) Wow this thing is amazing - So first I will say I am coming from a MacBook air 11' mid 2011 with 2GB ram and 64GB harddrive. This one I got has 4GB of ram and 128GB harddrive. I use this laptop mainly for browsing the internet and some programming. Now that you have a little background Ill give a quick review.

From the get go this laptop is MUCH faster then my previous Macbook air. When you open the lid you are ready to go that second. On the old one I would have to wait a little for it to load and if I left chrome up and clicked on it right away then I would get the loading wheel. I havent seen this do it once. That could be because of the harddrive being so much faster.

When I opened the box the laptop was already charged to 91% so im trying to kill it. Well I was on it ALL NIGHT last night and now its the morning and its only at 60%. That battery life is amazing and let me honest thats what we ask for in a laptop.

If you are up in the air about this laptop(no pun intended). I would say give it a go. You could even buy it from the Apple store and if you dont like it just return it.

If you are replacing an older Macbook air and have one thats because the mid 2012 then I would say get it but if you have the mid 2012 I dont know if I would suggest spending the money unless you really want battery. I hope this helps anyone trying to purchase this laptop.

I am not an Apple fan boy. My desktop is a custom build Window machine so I know both worlds. Please if you have any questions just comment and I will be happy to try things for you or just answer questions.

1) From Windows 8.1 to OS X Yosemite - I have played with the idea of purchasing a Mac for the last year and I finally bit the bullet (and am happy of it.) I've gone through multiple PC's since last year with my most recent one being a Surface Pro 3. While I do love the Surface Pro 3, I didn't use it as a tablet as nearly as much as I thought I would so I wanted to go back to a laptop, but this time it was a Macbook Air.

The reason I didn't previously purchase a Mac was because I was worried about switching to a new operating system. My OS experience has been limited to Windows products. I didn't want to purchase a Mac and have to learn how to work it/not like this new OS layout.

I've had the Macbook Air for less than a week and it's absolutely fantastic. This worry about switching to a new OS had no basis and Apple's OS X is incredibly intuitive. It's not at all difficult to learn and I got it down on the first night. It's a little bit different having a dashboard like interface, but certainly one I prefer. The 4 GBs of RAM is plenty for any computing task I need to do and the 128 GB HD is plenty big. If you need extra storage, you can always use the SD Card Slot (I currently use a 64GB SD Card for my movies so they don't take up space on my HD.)

As for actual usability, I have had zero problems. Perhaps I would had a few years ago, but now anything that is available for PC is also available for Macs. I absolutely love being able to send iMessage/SMS from my computer and I didn't realize how convenient it would be until I could do it. The keyboard types incredibly nice and alongside being backlit, the keys are spaced out wonderfully (opposed to the Surface Pro 3 TypeCover I had.) The touchpad responds great and it has multiple different touch features (swiping and so forth.) The Macbook Air is incredibly light (hint the name) and it's already traveled with me to work. It has sufficient ports, the ThunderBolt/DisplayPort works great for an external monitor, and is an all around fantastic computer. If you're worried about switching to OS X from Windows 7/8 don't worry about it, it is an easy transition and you'll love your new OS.

1) Desktop power in an unbelievably small/light package - I've been using macs for about ten years. I'm a bit on the technical side, but primarily I use my Macbook for e-mail, web browsing, word processing, photo editing, and some video editing. I also run Windows occasionally, as a virtual machine, using VMWare Fusion (like parallels). So far, this Macbook Pro (MBP) does everything I need it to do and I haven't met a limitation yet.

The good:
* Battery life is amazing at 8 hours.
* Display is incredible, pictures look like paintings on the screen. Using the Retina "more space" option, you get tons of real estate for running multiple apps. You can set up your display how you want, more space, larger text, or in between. Great options.
* i7 CPU and 8GB Memory gives you desktop power.
* Thin design, and very light considering the power inside.
* 802.11ac - the fastest wireless available if you have a router that supports it, like this: Apple AirPort Extreme Base Station (ME918LL/A)

Display concerns:
Some users have had bad experiences with the displays on this generation of macbook pro retinas - bad color representation or discoloration in small areas of the display. This should't be a problem anymore, it was only discovered among the newer units when this generation was introduced. Apple used both LG and Samsung to manufacture their Retina displays. It appears from research that the LG displays have had more problems. Again, probably not a concern any longer.

Some things you should definitely know:
* The memory and solid state drive are not intended to be upgraded. The memory is soldered to the main board and cannot be altered. When you order, think long term, will I need more memory or disk space in the future?
* There is no ethernet jack (RJ-45). If you want ethernet, you need to buy an adapter, like this Thunderbolt to Gigabit Ethernet Adapter. Apple did this because the RJ-45 ethernet jacks are huge, and it was preventing them from making the MacBooks thinner.
* There is no CD/DVD drive. Apple has moved away from supporting optical drives. Like the ethernet jack, the DVD/CD was a huge obstacle in making the frame on these systems smaller. If you want an Apple branded CD/DVD, you will need this Apple USB Superdrive. Keep in mind these won't support blu-ray discs, so if you want that, you'll need to buy another brand that supports blu-ray.
* On power management: If you want 8 hours of battery life, you need to let the OS manage all settings for you. If you start playing with the display brightness, display sleep time, etc, you won't get 8 hours.

Bonuses:
These systems now come with a nice bundle of Apple software for free.
* OS X Mavericks is the latest release of their operating system. It is free for any supported Mac.
* GarageBand, iMovie, and iPhoto, which used to be included in iLife, are now free to download and upgrade.
* The iWork suite: Pages, Numbers and Keynote are now free for new macs.

Remember to always check the Buyer's Guide at macrumors.com before purchasing a mac. There you will learn of any upcoming upgrades/releases that you might want to wait on before spending the cash on a new mac.

Update:
As someone said below, the SSD can be upgraded/replaced if you purchase a kit. A kit is necessary since Apple uses a proprietary SATA connector and special tools are required due to the type of screws present. Also, it isn't a standard 2.5" SSD, it is much different. Apple did not intend these drives to be upgraded or replaced by consumers. In addition, you need to modify system files in order to enable TRIM support, which is not enabled on non-OEM drives from Apple. If you're good with that, then go ahead and consider an upgrade later. If not, you'll need to plan ahead and "lock in" now with your purchase. Good luck!

1) macbook air 13inch vs macbook pro 13inch - this review is about my personal honest experience, i am not a computer wizard.

like most of you, i had a hard time thinking which one to buy, an air or a pro. what i did is purchased the two and see which one will better suit my needs and send back the one that I won't like. so I went at my local best buy and did so. after using both products for 14days, here are my thoughts.

the macbook air looks very beautiful on the outside. it's so thin and light and can be used anywhere like a tablet. to sum things up, the MB air is more of a fashion statement than a work horse. is it faster than a pro? yes only by 10-15secs during start up. the audio quality sounds thin but loud. the pro has a deeper sound. air has higher resolution but the fonts are small. what I hate about it is the screen display color. macbook pro by far has more vivid colors and if you love to watch netflix and hd videos like me, the pro is a better choice. i like the design of the air but i'm sorry to say that it is more like a toy than a real life laptop. if you have a main computer, the air is a very good addition but if you only need an all in one computer like me to take with you, store data, watch videos, do picture and video editing and plan to use for a very long time, then the macbook pro is a better choice and for me is more sturdy. one reviewer says that the air has better screen display but I don't agree with that because i am an amateur photographer and im pretty sure i know which has the better display. in the long run you will be needing that dvd drive, the storage and ram that you can customize, the ethernet and ports that are already built in and most of all the screen display. the macbook pro still looks stunningly beautiful and is a more capable laptop. even the keyboard is better to type on. the air is super light weight but the pro still is light. we still need to use our muscles sometimes. battery life are identical 5-6 hrs.

I got more from my money on the pro and it is a better choice for me that's why I kept it and sent the air back for a refund. again this is just my personal honest opinion.

1) LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE! - Picked up a 11" 256GB at the Apple Store only because Amazon only carried the 128GB in the 11". Would have rather picked it up here as it was a few dollars cheaper and triple points on my Amazon Card on purchases here.

My only prior mac experience was a 2012 Mac Mini which I adored and sold it for what I paid for it a 6 months later when I thought new models were coming out. By the time they did, my money plans had changed. Bought another windows machine, that was HP junk. But I'm back on track and mac till the day I die.

I'm not a fanboy. If it sucked, I'd say it sucks. However I am a great lover of every apple product I've ever owned. Countless iPods, a few iPhones, Apple TV, etc... It all words like it should. Well designed, well built, easy and FUN to use.

I have some cheapskate relatives that look at apple as overpriced. However, my opinion is, Apple products are an investment. Use a windows laptop 3 years and if it even runs right (good luck) you can't get $100 for it. Meanwhile every apple product I've ever sold to upgrade brought me 3/4+ of the original purchase price. Most of the apple products I've had cost me 30cents to 1.00 a day the whole time I owned them. Life's short people... You owe it to yourself to enrich your life any way you can.

Last week I wanted to rip 5 new CDs I had bought on my HP "craptop". I swear I spent all freakin afternoon and the frustration was unreal. I know what I'm doing, I've ripped countless thousands of discs over the years and I made up my mind that day it was time to fork out the money.

Even though I had forgotten most of what I knew about my old mac, I plugged in the SuperDrive and did nothing more. Had 3 new CDs to rip and spent 4 minutes average to rip them. Burnt a couple others, equally as fast. I was actually disappointed that it didn't take longer because this thing is FUN to play with. Call me crazy, but I like FUN as opposed to FRUSTRATION.

Full disclosure, I'm a 46 YR old male who probably has below avg computer skills for my age. I have a few buddies who are BIGTIME computer nerds and they like Android and Windows machines because they know how to make them work well (sometimes) and I think they prefer them because they can show off their skill. They don't like Apple stuff because a person of even below avg intelligence could teach their self how to use an Apple product as good as any computer expert could. Personally I'm fine with whatever floats their boat and to each their own. For me, I'll stick with the well built, easy and fun to use toys that have high resale value because I'll always want to own what Apple comes out with next.

I'm trying to think if something negative to say about this spring 2015 MacBook Air or Apple in general but I'm at a loss. Can't really complain about any aspect of it.

My wife used it and it rocked her world and she won't give it back. So I'm gonna mess with it some more and decide if I want the exact same for me, the 13" or wait till April 10 for the new Macbook 12"

I spent about 2 whole days comparing every tiny aspect of the current spring 2015 lineup and here's my thoughts... They are all fantastic but for me, the Pro is overkill in every way. I don't need the extra size or weight and I don't like that it is the last year before that model sees a complete design overhaul which is due 2016.

A few other thoughts... If you google it, you will find people on forums who have had eye problems they believe from using the apple retina displays on the 13" MacBook Pro as well as other Apple products with Retina displays. This worries me because I have an eye disease, eye pain, and already compromised vision (not from retina though). It's quite a few people actually but I'm sure a small percentage of users overall. If I try the new macbook April 10 I will be very conscious of that during the 14 day apple return period (and as of this moment I do not know Apples policy on returning MacBooks but Apple Store and BestBuy is 14 days). Something I just wanted to throw out there if you think the display hurts your eyes. The AIR does not have a retina display and that was a big consideration when I bought it. BUT it is a beautiful display in it's own right. Makes my HP look like a screen door over the display.

Another thought, my above list is incomplete because I didn't need over the base processors. I couldn't afford the 512GB SSD which Id loved to have. Keep in mind everyone has different needs. I have a 2500+ CD collection as I'm a music lover. I didn't want to fool with an external hard drive, the 256GB is the biggest I could afford. I will rip a lot of my CDs in "iTunes plus AAC" because:

- I can get 10 full albums per GB
- the quality is well beyond good enough for casual listening on even above avg equipment.
- I like to keep lots of albums sync'd to my iphone for use in the car, and when Im on the treadmill.
- and lastly because I like to stream albums and playlist to my Yamaha A/V receiver and it can't do apple lossless.
- I will however keep a few hundred CDs of the best sound quality I own on the MacBook Air in Apple Lossless (like 4 albums per GB) so that when I connect my external USB AMP/DAC and HD598 headphones I can have the best possible SQ.

As far as the amount of memory (RAM) to choose in the Air series, you have 4GB standard with $100 upgrade to 8GB which likely you would have to buy through the apple store because Amazon only carries certain configurations. I researched this for HOURS and HOURS. Most people in the know strongly believe 4GB is all you need. And mine does run smooth as butter. If you run several memory intensive programs at one time you could be better with 8GB but honestly at that point you really need the MacBook Pro so upgrading the Air to 4GB is a complete waste of money even if you have a future proofing mentality it's just not needed. But if you need 8GB to sleep at night it's cheap enough at $100. Do no memory is not upgradable as it is soldered in. So get what you need at purchase. I had debated the future proofing aspect but if anything future operating systems are handling memory much better, not worse. If you are gonna do hardcore video editing your better off with the pro. 95% of users will see absolutely no benefit to the 8GB for everyday tasks, and certainly not for casual use of web surfing, email etc..

A lot of people are absolutely fine with the base model of the MacBook Air and will be extremely impressed with how powerful and slick this thing is. If you need more SSD space, use external memory options or pay the premium for Apples upgraded configs. As of 2015 the 13" AIR has 2x faster SSD than the 11" but they are all blazing fast compared to a spinning hard drive.

11" vs 13"

Let me save you a few hours of research. Everytime it has come up on various forums 50% love the 11" 50% love the 13" and quite a few own/owned both and love both. It will not be helpful to search it. They are both small they are both light. 13" is $100 higher in every configuration and has a 16:10 screen as opposed to 16:9 on the 11". The 13 has a SDXC card reader and 2x faster SSD other than that... The 11" has 135ppi (pixels per inch) and the 13" has 128ppi) I have viewed both side by side and if the 11"is better it is slight to the point you will never know. IIRC, the 13" has 12 hour battery as opposed to 9 for the 11". If you would use it on an airplane tray often or value SMALL and light over all else, go with the 11". The 13" is heavier but it's in no way heavy. The difference between the 13" MacBook Air and the new April 10 macbook is 1lb almost exactly and the 11" air is in between but closer to the new macbook in weight. Apple has all the specs on their site, but their comparison chart is lacking even compared to what I listed above. I compiled that from many sources. It's in no way definitive, but it really helped me decide.

I didn't personally want to save $100 by buying last years model, but if money's tight you have that option. New for 2015 is the 2x faster memory for the 13" and both got a 5th gen processor and upgraded to the 6000 graghics vs 5300. In the real world I heard this mean a slight boost in efficiency and shading detail on the graphics (in other words not a big deal from last year for the avg guy).

Excuse the typos, I typed all this on my iphone via diabetic index finger! I really hope this saves someone some hours of research. I hope you are able to buy one and I hope you enjoy it!

First off... I think this projector does a really good job at what its designed to do... and that is to project images onto a screen at a high resolution. And this projector does that.

I use this projector perfectly with my Google Chromecast dongle. It takes about 30 seconds to get setup, and I am watching Netflix on a wall in my house at about 100 inches. All you need to do is to adjust the focus, and adjust the viewing angle. Both very easy to do.

There is also a very comprehensive menu system in this LED projector, so you can tweak settings as needed to get a picture you want.

This projector has a output of 1000 Lumens. This is just fine for a home environment with the lights off in the room. Which is how I tend to watch movies anyway. So again, no issues with this box.

There are multiple input sources for you to get your video on the screen. Again, I easily use a Chromecast dongle. Sound on this projector is OK, and you can add a external speaker if desired.

The remote control is great, and is very responsive. It makes setting up the menus much easier.

All in all a really good product for under a $100 bucks!

1) ECONOMY/VALUE Projector, NATIVE Res 800x480, Best for Casual Home Use, HDMI/Composite, USB/SD Video/Still Media Supported - The FastFox HD 1080P Mini LED Home projector is suitable for home use in darkened rooms. It is at the very low price end it does a fine job in the home economy projector category with a few concerns.

It's about 2 and a quarter pounds in weight. 7.9in.X6.0inX2.65in with a fixed focal length lens. The 800 lumen output is comparable to the output of a 60W incandescent bulb. Good enough for a fairly darkened room. The projectors contrast ration is 800:1 which isn't bad. It has a fixed focal length lens.

A down side of this projector is having the letters UNIC are displayed in the upper right corner all the time. I have not found a way to turn this off. UNIC is the Chinese manufacturer and their model number is the UC40.

It is NOT comparable to higher end projectors like the ViewSonic PJD7820HD 1080p or Optoma HD141X 3D 1080p Home Projector which put out 4+ times the brightness and have higher end features and cost 5 to 6 times as much!

I mainly use mine to project Amazon Prime video from my Fire TV HD 8.9 tablet. I use a hdmi cable to feed the video and audio to the projector and the headphone jack to feed it from the projector to an amplifier with nice speakers. For this purpose it works pretty well.

I've also used it with a Logitec Conference Cam Connect though it was a struggle to balance light levels to projecting the conference while still allowing for enough light for the camera in the Conference Cam Connect. The FastFox projector isn't bright enough to be good for this type of application.

The projector has HDMI and Composite (via an adapter cable) signal inputs. There is a headphone output and a tiny and the tiny internal speaker surprisingly good for what it is, but you probably want to use external audio if possible. I do.

The projector accepts a broad range of inputs via hdmi including: 800x600; 1024x768,1280x800,1920x1080. HOWEVER: the native resolution of the projector is 800x480 so higher resolutions are down-scaled (and pretty well!) to that resolution with aspect retention. This is why text that might have been clear on your 1080p HD TV is very fuzzy when projected with the FastFox. NOTE: Don't expect 1080p output from this projector. Motion video still looks very nice, but another concession to affordability.

Keystone correction is important for projectors to correct the distortion in the shape of the projected image that happens when the projector is aimed up (or down) relative to the screen. The FastFoxcan correct keystone up to 10 degrees when aimed upward toward a screen and 15 degrees when mounted high and projecting down. That's not a whole lot of correction - just a gentle upward or downward angle. This is consistent with its low price point.

A nice feature of the FastFox projector is the SD card and USB compatibility. I've used these to project still images. It worked well for this purpose. The supported formats for video and images include:

The remote is much more comprehensive than the controls on the base unit. The IR receiver is sensibly on the back of the unit. The remote is better than the on-unit controls.

The FastFox HD 1080P Portable Mini Home LED Projector is a good choice if will project in darkened rooms, the projector is aimed within 10 degrees of horizontal, and you are on a budget. If your source can direct the audio other than through the HDMI cable (like to a home theater), even better.

Because the FastFox projector clearly aims at the home value/entry video projector marketplace and provides good features/value at its price point I'm giving it 4 stars. It gives good "bang for the buck".

1) Great Product for projecting movies on Travel Trailer while camping - This is a great little projector which works perfect for our applications. Item was purchased to project movies for the kiddos on the side of my travel trailer during camping excursions, and we all collectively could not be happier with the overall item. The projector came exactly as pictured/described and I had it up and running (streaming from Roku thru the HDMI port) in under 5 minutes. Directions, as with most of these type items are really useless, but if you have any bit of tech knowledge (i.e hook up a flat screen tv to cable receiver box, etc) it will be a non-issue. The picture quality for the movies is actually pretty good (you will not get clear HD quality) and the sound output on the projector worked great too ( I actually was able to project a clear movie image of over 60-inches with no problems). I can see where other viewers did not like this type of projector for actual computer presentations (as wording does get distorted quite a bit) but I wasn't concerned with this, as this was not the true intention of the purchase, and if looking for high-quality, you are going to need to spend 3x's more on a projector specifically set-up to handle such applications.

1) An excellent all in one projector - I was hesitant to buy this projector, as there are not many reviews out yet, but its predecessor, the moviemate 72 had wonderful reviews so I gave it a shot. I am very glad I did, this projector does everything I want it to. It will play DVD's in pretty much any format (including AVI), projects well onto my apartment wall, and the built in speakers are decent, though obviously not spectacular.

The only caveat I have is that there is no lens shift built in, which means the projector needs to be pointing straight at the surface it is projecting on. It does allow you to adjust keystone, which means if you are projecting up or down, it maintains a rectangular image, and has a manual focus and zoom. It is not well suited for use as a home theater projector, as it only has 1 hdmi input, 1 component input, and a VGA input, but I suppose if you are building a home theater you will likely have a stereo receiver regardless, which can handle the cable switching needs.

I am very impressed with the brightness, when on full I can use it during the day(with the blinds closed, though some light does come in), and at night it is easy to shift it to "eco" mode, which is supposed to save bulb life. The main benefit I see or actually hear, is the decrease in fan noise. On high brightness, the noise can be a little distracting, but it is by no means overpowering, and with lower brightness it is hard to hear at all.

The projector is very portable, coming with a built in handle and a carry case, I have already brought it over to a few friends houses with ease.

I should mention, this is the only projector I have ever owned, so my opinion should not be given too much weight.

1) Bright HD Projector For Man Cave - Over the past 10 years, this is the third and best projector I have installed in my basement recreation room.
Previous projectors included an XGA LCD projector displaying on a 92" diameter, fixed frame, 16:9, zero gain screen. I did have black bars top and bottom that became annoying so I updated the projector to a DLP model with an anamorphic lens. The second projector was great - much better ANSI contrast and more realistic color display than the LCD model. Over seven years, brightness faded and I decided to buy a new projector instead of purchasing a replacement lamp for $450(!).

I was torn between the Optoma HD25 and HD25-LV knowing that with higher brightness color fidelity would suffer a bit. In my recreation room I often leave reading lights on in the seating area (away from the screen) and full lights on in the back room, so the higher brightness projector made sense. Also, if I ever decide to view 3D videos or play 3D games a brighter projector helps to offset brightness lost when wearing 3D shutter glasses.

I am totally thrilled with the purchase. Contrast, color and brightness are HUGE improvements compared to my last projector.

1) ... new projector very long but so far it is great. I bought it to replace my previous projector ... - I haven't had my new projector very long but so far it is great. I bought it to replace my previous projector which had the bulb expire. I had it for around 10 years and it was a 3000 hr bulb. This one is a 10,000 hr so would imagine it would last 3 times as long. We shall see. The picture is much clearer and brighter I had a 800x600 resolution so this is a step us for me. The great thing too is that I paid almost half as much. It has all the connections anyone would need to watch all kinds of video. I hooked up my DVD player, my laptop and blue ray and they all look amazing. Also when I connected my blue ray player I pluged my Bose system into the RCA audio out on the side of the projector and was amazed it was in stereo. My last projector only had a mono audio connection.

A couple of things to inform others about is that the video connections are on the side of the unit, probably for ease of use in the business or class room situation. My other unit had the connections on the back, my preference because of the installation I have. but really not a big issue. Another thing I noticed is it seems that the zoom doesn't zoom very much so that means to have to locate the projector at a distance from the screen to get the size you want. This is true with all projectors but it seems that my previous one had a better zoom. These are really my personal preferences and does not take away from the great performance of this projector.

I would recommend this projector for anyone who is looking for an inexpensive and good quality projector. I am sure that if money is not an issue you can find better quality projectors but I am completely happy with mine.

1) I love this projector - I love this projector!!!!! I only gave it 4 stars because it has a little rainbow effect and the speakers are very very low I don't use them anyway, but other than that its awesome. It has great picture and,colors just an amazing piece of hardware. The specs are some of the best I've seen for being a lower budget projector. I wanted to get a 2nd projector an ended up looking for something a little better then the Benq. So I started doing more research an found out about LED longer lasting lamps. So I invested in that by getting the LG PA75U OMG I packed it right back up the same day I received it. Don't get me wrong it's an ok projector but does not compare. It's no where near as bright the colors are amazing I must say, but the BenQ is definitely running laps around it in superb clarity and brightness. I have the BenQ 10 feet away from a 100inch VonHaus manual pulldown screen which is just making the BenQ that much more amazing,and it's about 85inchs maybe a little more. This is the best projector I have received so far and I've been buying a different projector every week for a month and a half and the BenQ out did every last one of them all the others were sent back or sold for a little less then what I paid for them but it was definitely well worth it. I would leave screenshots if I could. I love this projector so much I will be getting a 2nd one. Here are a few of the projectors I sent back or sold VVME V61, LG PA75U, and a RD-806 they have a bunch of different models for the RD-806.

1) Blown away!! - I can't say enough good things about this projector. It is an amazing value and delivers a superb theater experience in my living room. Just a little background in my home theater experience... In college, one of my buddies had an old auditorium projector in his dorm room. We fashioned a screen out of a grid of computer paper on his wall so that he could still open his door haha. When we got an apartment together during our senior year, we made a screen out of a California King sheet. We stretched the sheet tight and made a border out of black duct tape. We enjoyed a year of movies and shows on our 155" screen.

Fast forward to now. I wanted to take my home theater experience to the next level and this projector was the perfect way to do it! Here's a brief outline of key features and my impression of them:

Resolution:
The three biggest features most people look for when talking about projectors are resolution, contrast ratio, and lumens. The resolution of this projector is SVGA 800x600. This is far from full HD, which is the majority of content I'll be viewing, but the picture is astounding! I'm a stickler when it comes to picture quality. I have a 42" 120hz 3D tv in my bedroom. I ALWAYS buy the blu ray version of new movies and I stream HD all the time on Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime. I care deeply about picture quality to say the least. That being said, this projector blows me away in picture quality. I watched Star Wars on blu ray last week on my tv and watched it again this weekend on the projector for comparison. Although the picture was slightly better on the tv, nothing compares to watching Star Wars on a big screen. The picture was very sharp. Absolutely amazing.

Contrast Ratio:
15,000:1 contrast ratio. What can I say, the shadows were very dark and the highlights were very bright. I don't have a proper home theatre with dark walls and such so there was a lot of reflected light but I was blown away again with the high contrast image.

Lumens:
It is important to know the lighting conditions in your theater when choosing a projector. Rooms with higher ambient light will need a higher lumen projector to overpower the ambient. With the shades drawn, I have no problem watching movies with this projector during the daytime. Of course, wait until night with complete darkness and the screen is incredibly bright and vivid. This projector beyond bright enough for my conditions.

Inputs/Outputs:
Okay so now onto the fine details. The Viewsonic has multiple inputs for a wide variety of devices. I run an HDMI cable from my bedroom to the living room for my theater. The projector takes an HD signal and converts it to the proper resolution. I then use the 1/8" audio out to run to my sound system.

Placement/orientation:
This is the only gripe I have with this projector. I have a relatively long living room. My screen is 110" diagonal and is located at one of the far sides. I wanted to be able to mount the projector and the other far end, high on the wall for convenience. Unfortunately for me, the distance was too great to fit the picture on to my screen. The projected image was about 6" too big on all sides. I was upset but this was not the projector's fault; I had a limited mounting options (I live in an apartment so no ceiling mounts) and I had a fixed screen size. My issue with the projector came in when I tried to place the projector on a table towards the back of the room. The image beam from the projector comes out in four ways: Front ceiling, rear ceiling, front table, rear table. The "rear" refers tor rear projection. All of these settings have an angle pitch that is a little extreme. The keystone adjustment offers a little correction but not enough. I had to put little pieces of cardboard under the back feet of the projector to properly line up the image. So, more options for the angle of the lens elements would have been nice but this all is not a deal breaker by any means.

Bulb life:
Rated at up to 6,000 hours. I have no clue how long this will actually last me. I imagine during the first several weeks/months I will use the projector very frequently but then may ween off a bit in order to maintain the magic of the viewing experience each time I use it. One helpful tip is to use to projector as a treat or special event. Don't watch Judge Judy or American Idol on it or it will quickly lose that "wow" factor. Instead, use it for social gatherings, the season finale of The Walking Dead, the Super Bowl, gaming tournaments, etc.

Bottom line:
I use this projector for both video and gaming. It provides a stunning picture even for a videophile like me. If you are looking into setting up a home theater, take a serious look at this projector before considering spending much more money on an HD projector. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

UPDATE: I made a video review but wasn't happy with it so I didn't post it. Instead, I will answer any questions you have about the projector in the comment section. Since writing my initial review, I have used the 3D function pretty extensively. I use the Sainsonic DLP Link glasses. The experience is very enjoyable with a much more immersed feeling than my 3D tv. The 3D elements pop off the screen at you like in the theater.

Also, I've been watching the NCAA tournament with some buddies using the projector. My house has become "the spot" for watching the tournament. It truly does create an atmosphere that a tv cannot begin to touch. We've been able to have the lights on and eat pizza and wings and drink some brews while watching Syracuse dominate ;) I'll see how well they do in the Final Four this Saturday on a glorious 110" screen with all my buddies. I'm telling you... get this projector and see how much of an impact it has on your entertainment experience!!

1) Outstanding image quality - Would purchase again - Right out of the box, and onto the table. Home theater setup took less than 10 minutes.

Granted, for a more permanent solution, I would like to mount this upside down from the ceiling, but it was college football playoff day, and I had less than 30 minutes to get ready for the big game. My setup is pretty straight-forward. I connected my Cable TV set-top box via HDMI cable. Turned on the projector and it auto-detected the source signal. Two rings around the lens allow for simple "zoom" and focus control The projector is located in my living room, approximately 15 feet from the screen (which, in my case is a white painted, textured interior wall). Despite the texture on the wall, the image looks incredibly sharp. The sound quality was nice, but lacked dimension. I would recommend supplementing the built-in sound with an outside set of speakers. (I'm using the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 THX Certified Computer Speaker System) which provides more than enough sound for my home theater system.

With up to 70,000:1 contrast, the image sharpness was amazing, but so was the color output. This projector is leaps and bounds ahead of cheaper projection units that I've tested.

Common connection types available on the back include HDMI, PC, component video, and USB.

1) This is the first pico projector I've liked, and I've tried a lot of them - I read a review of this projector from a mac review blog a few weeks ago with the quote: “I was prepared for it to suck — but was surprised and delighted when it turned my living room wall into a 150-inch cinema screen.” And that sort of sums up my experience.

I've been invested in the company that makes the laser module that sits inside this little projector in the past and am now once again. Five years ago, they came out with a dimmer version of this technology with a lot of laser speckle and some image distortion issues, and it didn't meet expectations. Now five years later, they've come back and the technology is finally ready to do things right, and the result is fantastic. It's literally like having an 80 inch flat screen HD television anywhere you want it.

You don't have to focus the image, due to the laser imaging engine it's always in focus at every projection distance and size, there's no fan to create noise, and you can broadcast to it wirelessly using DLNA or Miracast - or hook up an HDMI cable and get three hours of run time instead of two. The laser speckle is also much diminished. You can still see it if you look hard, or if you're shining the projector on a glossy surface, but at normal large-screen projection sizes and on flat painted surfaces, it just about disappears.

It's smaller than my leather cased iPhone 6+, and as long as you're using it in the dark, you can comfortably watch for a long time at very large image sizes (80 inches in diagonal and up) without feeling like you're straining your eyes because it's too dim. And the laser generated colors are fantastic.

The dot-com era set expectations that couldn't be met until Web 2.0 came along a few years later. VR technology has disappointed a few times before seemingly being about ready to take off in the form of Facebook's Oculus Rift, Microsoft's HoloLens, and Sony's Morpheus project.

So it's not surprising that it took a couple of tries to get easy to use laser pico projection to work, but with this device, Sony and Microvision, the companies behind the projection technology that Celluon is using in these amazing little projectors, have finally done it.

One small negative - the speaker is not very loud. There's no fan noise to overcome like there is with a lot of projectors, but even so the speaker was maybe 1/3rd of the volume of my iPhone, so plan on using something else for sound, but do check out this projector. I was pleasantly surprised and you may be too.

UPDATE: I ordered a second PicoPro earlier this week using Prime shipping and received it in less than 24 hours. Nice job, Amazon!

1) Loaded with flexibility in a compact package. - Epson's PowerLite 1761W Projector brings a nice feature list to the table that is headed up with wireless projection abilities from most portable devices via the iProjection app on portable devices (iDevices and Android tablets and phones) and via typical PCs or Mac computers with the required application installed. On top of that, add the respectable 2600 lumens of color and white brightness that puts the performance in the projector brightness category in the upper half of the price/brightness scale.

Typically, projectors delivering 2000 to 3000 lumens would be considered good for rooms that aren't going to be completely darkened, while projectors delivering under 2000 lumens would require a completely darkened room for acceptable viewing. The 3000 to 4500 lumen range would be considered very good and would normally work well even in rooms for some ambient light or without the artificial light turned down, but of course that performance typically comes at much higher prices. Projectors capable of delivering 4500 lumens or more would be the upper end range and would normally be priced accordingly.

This projector should probably be considered a short throw projector as the projected image size from this projector is large sized, even at shorter projector to screen distances. The actual specs, as reported in the documentation, are these:
* 50 inch screen/image size from a Projection distance of 44 to 53 inches (112 to 135 cm) (approx. 3.5 to 4.5 feet)
* 80 inch screen/image size from a Projection distance of 71 to 85 inches (181 to 217 cm) (approx. 5 to 6 feet)
* 100 inches from a distance of 89 to 107 inches (226 to 271 cm) (approx. 7.5 to 9 feet)
* 150 inches from a distance of 134 to 161 inches (340 to 408 cm) (approx. 11 to 13.5 feet)
If an intended buyer is dealing with smaller potential screen sizes, knowing these distance ranges may help determine whether or not this projector, despite other features that might be useful (such as the wireless projection capability), would make for a good purchase.

In researching this projector, I would openly acknowledge reading other reviews from various sources on the internet. I take seriously the responsibility of a reviewer or author of any sort not to steal others works (plagiarism) and I don't borrow content from other reviews, though I may find inspiration within those reviews for making sure I cover some important items within this review.

One comment that I did see within a couple of other reviews was a back and forth "discussion" between reviewers on another site about the wireless capability of this projector. One reviewer found the installation and setup process for the wireless feature to be more work than they had expected and perhaps more difficult than they felt they should have to go through. With that possible red flag raised, I was curious to see how well the included instructions covered installing the wireless module and further, how well the instructions covered the wireless configuration. I found that the instructions were crystal clear and easy to follow though I would acknowledge that it seemed to be somewhat silly not to have installed the wireless module at the factory. I'm sure that Epson had a good reason not to do that, perhaps with the thought pattern being that by not installing the module at the factory and letting the user perform that task the user could easily note the MAC address in advance and have that information for configuring the security of the wireless network (MAC address filtering as an example).

In those same inspirational reviews, I had noticed that one reviewer seemed to have the impression that in configuring this projector for wireless access that they were no longer able to use the internet on the device they configured to project from. Apparently the reviewer in that case didn't understand the difference between Ad-hoc and Infrastructure network modes, both of which are supported by this projector. In Ad-hoc network mode, this projector and the device that would be wireless projecting to it would be operating on their own isolated network. In that case the device that would be doing the projecting would no longer have access to any other network and therefore wouldn't be able to access the internet (or corporate or home networks) at all. In Infrastructure mode this projector becomes just another device on an established wireless network. In Infrastructure mode all of the devices would have full access to the network (internet, corporate, home, whatever was configured).

The network configuration, even in an advanced environment, is still easily configured via the projector's remote control and built-in menu for the projector. That configuration would require a little knowledge of the wireless network configuration (the appropriate addresses if DHCP isn't being used, the network passwords if necessary, etc.) in the intended environment, but it really isn't difficult to set up on this projector.

iProjection Application notes:

Thanks to Epson's iProjection application, which is free to download and install via the appropriate application market places, projecting wirelessly from iDevices (phones, tablets, etc.) or Android devices (again phones, tablets, whatever devices the application would install on) is incredibly easy. The technology is similar to the fruity company's AirPlay technology, though in the context of the iProjection application the feature set is much more limited. When using the iProjection application (at least at the time this review was written and submitted) a user of the application would be restricted to specific document types, photos, or internet (browsing) projection. You can't, for example, toggle the projection on and wirelessly output videos from on a tablet. ONLY PHOTOS, DOCUMENTS and WEB BROWSING may be wirelessly projected via iProjection on phone/tablet devices.

PC users running the required application on their PC are not restricted in that way. On my Media Center PC I was able to output video and audio from the Media Center application along with the other content that was displayed on my PC's desktop.

Output quality and input ports on this projector:

Image output from this projector is a very respectable 1280 x 800 pixels 16:10 ratio widescreen native resolution (which leads to the image sizes mentioned above). 720p high definition projection is easily achieved simply by connecting to the output of an HD cable or satellite tuner box. For those so inclined, a high def gaming console (such as the Xbox 360 or Sony Playstation 3) can also easily be connected to this projector via the HDMI port.

PCs or Macintosh computers can also be connected via the older style 15 pin analog video (VGA type) port.

PC users could also quickly make use of a USB connection to connect this projector to their PC, meaning that this projector is incredibly flexible and should be useful in just about any configuration a user might imagine.

The Epson 1761W is incredibly thin, light weight, and astonishingly portable. The included carrying bag/case is deceptively roomy but also small and easy to carry around in a very comfortable manner. Obviously Epson has put a lot of thought into the design of this device and to the design of the accessories and they should be commended for just plain getting it right.

Thinking back on the other materials I read about this projector, I recall another comment/complaint that this projector doesn't offer an "audio out" connector. It does have a built-in speaker that sounded reasonably good when playing back audio from my TiVo Premiere XL (directly connected via HDMI cable) as well as when I used the PC application to connect to the projector wirelessly. Thanks to this projector's support of wireless n as well as 802.11 b and g, I was able to use the higher wireless speeds and never suffered any lag or poor performance that might be encountered with slower wireless networks. THIS PROJECTOR DOES NOT HAVE AN AUDIO OUT port though, and anyone that requires such a configuration will have to look elsewhere.

Sluggish performance via iProjection?

One note on wireless projection performance. When I used the iProjection application on my third generation iPad device I found the network browsing displays a little sluggish in updating on the projected image. That was possibly slowed by a connection that was syncing that pad back to my PC, updating content on the pad device, but the performance was slowed noticably enough for me to take note of and think of mentioning here. Honestly, I think that problem was simply my pad device as I wound up having to restart the iPad later to resolve another issue.

Sending output from my Galaxy S III phone over to the projector was fast enough when I was browsing through photos and such, but I didn't opt to try network browsing on that device.

On other note here though, when I used the network browsing on my iPad I noticed that the iPad wasn't showing me the bookmarks that I would normally have on that device. It seemed that the browser session that was used was one that was isolated away from the built-in browser, though again that might simply have been a one-time issue with my iPad.

Some other possible options:

I've had the pleasure of reviewing a few other Epson projectors, including the Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 705 HD 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 705 HD 720p 3LCD Home Theater Projector. It was also very nice, with output sizes smaller and more compact than the widescreen output of this projector. Another Epson projector that I used and really liked was the EX7210 Projector Epson EX7210 Projector (Portable WXGA 720p Widescreen 3LCD, 2800 lumens color brightness, 2800 lumens white brightness, HDMI, rapid setup). That particular projector offers greater brightness ratings (2800 lumens versus the 2600 lumens for the 1761W) and again is not an ultra widescreen projector. It does typically sell at lower prices than either the 1761W reviewed here or the PowerLite Home Cinema 705 HD, so if you are on a budget and don't need the flexibility that the 1761W offers with it's wireless projection capabilities, you might want to look hard at the EX7210.

Buy it or not?

Personally I would rate the 1761W a must buy. It is an incredibly flexible projector and should work in just about any configuration a user could imagine.

1) Best and Brightest in the market - The Optoma ML750 700 lumen 3D portable LED projector is an amazing piece of technology. The first impression out of the box is how small it is and how light it is. The projector comes with a very nice travel zip-up bag with the Optoma logo on it, a small power supply that comes apart at the power box so it is a total of 2 cords. A universal in to VGA out with an audio in. Even if you don't use this to connect to a computer you can plug in universal and bring audio in. The last thing is a very nice controller which has all the functions that you can use on the machine. I also bought a Sunpak SPK620786 5-Inch Flex Leg Mini-Spider Tripod which fits it perfect and works very well to hold it up and change angles.

I connected via Macbook Pro retina through the HDMI port on the back. I changed input to HDMI and it matched my screen within 5 seconds. I first used it in my office which is very bright and I projected from about 10 ft back and I had an amazing, bright beautiful picture of my computer screen which is a stock Apple image with vibrant colors. I was amazed at how bright it is and how good the picture is. I then played a video from netflix to test the sound and the speakers are ok for a small group of people but not good enough for a good action movie in your house. I would just use the audio from your input device or from the universal cord with audio in. The keystone correction works very well but usually you don't need it, keystone is always a salesman pitch but when its on your wall you don't really care that it is a little bigger on the top than the bottom, trust me.

I looked for about 2 weeks for which projector I wanted. I am using this for office presentations in a large well lit conference room, home movies and demonstrations at different stores that we have in our company. The other projectors I looked at are the Optoma ML550, Qumi Q5, Aaxa P300, Aaxa LED showtime, Dell M110 and a couple of the brookstone models. The Qumi Q5, ML550 and the Dell M110 were the only ones that were kind of close to this in the way of picture quality and brightness. The ML550 is the same thing just 200 less lumens, the Dell M110 is very close in size where the Q5 is a little larger and more rectangle shaped. After looking at these and testing them the ML750 was the best in brightness and quality of picture.

This is one of the only projectors in this market that you can project a large picture in a room with bright lights and still have really good quality and brightness. I projected a powerpoint in our conference room with the 20 plus lights we have and I could read even the smallest print well. I tested this next to a standard light projector that was 2,500 lumen in our conference room and this has a better picture and looked brighter! That's the power of LED.

Overall this is in my opinion the best "pico" projector on the marker for its size, connections, and quality of display. You can't fit it in your pocket but it comes pretty close to. I would not waste my time with the smaller below 300 lumens on the market, you just don't get a bright enough picture. I have not tested the 3D but will test and amend this when I do.

I would recommend this to anyone who is in the market for a small, LED projector that looks amazing.
