Britain’s Got Talent is heating up as the show heads into its second live semi-final tonight (Sarurday, 2 May).

We now know which eight acts will be battling it out on stage for a chance at the grand final, a cash prize of £250,000, and the honour of performing at the Royal Variety Performance.

On top of the public vote, every act is also eyeing the Golden Buzzer from the judges – or from presenters Ant & Dec – that automatically guarantees a spot in the final.

With just two spots available each week, there’s plenty at stake and plenty to play for.

Plus, returning to the stage for a special guest performance is previous winner Sydnie Christmas, performing with the Great Ormond Street Hospital Choir.

The second semi-final airs live on ITV1 and ITVX at 7pm this Saturday.

It’s shaping up to be a dramatic Saturday night as Britain’s Got Talent heads into its first live semi-final of 2026.

After weeks of auditions, the first batch of eight semi-finalists is now locked in and preparing to compete for a place in the grand final, as well as a chance at that coveted £250,000 prize and a spot at the Royal Variety Performance.

The live show’s line-up delivers something for everyone, from dogs to humour to jaw-dropping acrobatics.

The semi-final format raises the stakes, with just two acts out of eight heading straight through each week.

Saturday’s show also features the series’ first guest performance, starring Alexandra Burke.

She’ll channel global legend Chaka Khan in an exclusive number from I’m Every Woman – The Chaka Khan Musical, just before the new show makes its West End appearance at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre this summer.

The BBC’s hit comedy Amandaland is making its way back onto our screens, with a trailer just released for its second series.

Lucy Punch steps back into the lead role as Amanda, joined once again by Joanna Lumley and Philippa Dunne, following a breakout first series that quickly picked up a loyal following.

The new series will start on BBC One and iPlayer in May.

Amandaland first introduced us to Amanda after her divorce forced a dramatic move to South Harlesden – or SoHa, as estate agents would rather it be known.

The series follows Amanda navigating the pitfalls of modern parenthood, from teenage drinking to digital misadventures and eco anxiety, all against the backdrop of her not-so-glamorous new postcode.

A one-off Christmas special of Amandaland which aired in December became the UK’s most-watched comedy in 2025 with an audience of 7.4 million across 28-days.

It welcomed Jennifer Saunders as Aunt Joan, sister of Felicity (Joanna Lumley). It was the first scripted on-screen reunion for Jennifer and Joanna since Absolutely Fabulous.

Co-writer and creator Holly Walsh and co-writer Laurence Rickard said: “We are delighted to see a sitcom find such a large audience, and even more delighted that it’s the one we wrote… Huge thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for bringing the show to life.”

The BBC has dropped the trailer for its latest crime drama The Cage ahead of its release on 26 April 2026.

This five-part series sees Sheridan Smith leading as Leanne, an inner-city casino cashier with everything to lose.

Smith is joined by Michael Socha, who plays her boss Matty drawing Leanne deeper into a world of secrets and survival.

Created by Tony Schumacher, whose work on The Responder turned plenty of heads, The Cage explores desperate choices and moral struggles.

The plot centres on Leanne, who starts skimming money from the casino’s safe to save her family home.

Things get complicated when she discovers that Matty is up to the very same trick.

As they both dodge the local gangster and the police, both their futures hang on every risky decision.

The supporting cast includes Barry Sloane taking on the role of Gary Packer, Geraldine James as Nancy Packer and Anton Bibby as Thomas Chapel.

Shot in Liverpool and around Merseyside, the series is directed by Al Mackay and produced by Element Pictures (Normal People).

All episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from launch, with episodes airing weekly at 9pm on BBC One.

The BBC has offered the first sneak peek at the upcoming second series of Ludwig, the acclaimed detective comedy starring David Mitchell and Anna Maxwell Martin.

There’s a wave of new faces joining this time, with Mark Bonnar and Sian Clifford stepping in as series regulars.

Created and written by Mark Brotherhood, Ludwig quickly became the BBC’s biggest scripted series since 2024 and the most-watched comedy premiere since at least 2018.

David’s puzzle-obsessed detective, John ‘Ludwig’ Taylor returns right where we left off, with John working as a Crime Scene Consultant alongside Dipo Ola’s DCI Russell Carter, helping the Cambridge Police tackle some truly ‘impossible’ crimes.

He’s not hiding behind any more disguises – John is now officially on the payroll, but that comes with a catch: he’s banned from using any police resources to look into his missing twin brother James or whatever mysterious business James was pursuing.

Still, John isn’t the type to let rules get in the way, and neither is Lucy – played by Anna Maxwell Martin – who is determined to find her husband, no matter the obstacles.

A husband and father still needs bringing home, and the hunt for answers is back on.

Returning the cast are Dylan Hughes as Henry Betts-Taylor, Dorothy Atkinson as DCS Carol Shaw, Ralph Ineson as Chief Constable Ziegler, and Karl Pilkington as DI Matt Neville.

Also along for the ride are Ben Ashenden as DC Ethan Cole and Rumi Sutton as DC Caitlin Sullivan.

Mark Bonnar steps in as Gareth Fisher, a newspaper editor with a cluttered desk and too many snacks, while Sian Clifford takes the role of local MP Joanne Kemper.

There’s no word yet on a specific air date, but the new series will drop later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

The BBC is bringing back a British classic with its new adaptation of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾, and filming is officially underway.

Star of ALan Carr’s Changing Ends, Oliver Savell steps into the shoes of Adrian Mole, the troubled and often hilarious teenager navigating his way through 1980s suburban life before smartphones and social media ever existed.

He’s joined by Lisa McGrillis as Adrian’s mum Pauline, Colin Hoult as his dad George, and Pam Ferris taking on the role of Grandma.

Also on the cast are Alun Armstrong as Bert, Galaxie Clear as Pandora, Jude Forsey as Nigel, Rory Keenan as Mr Lucas, David Wilmot as Mr Scruton and Karl Collins as Mr Cherry.

The nine-part series is based on the best-selling book by Sue Townsend. It will air on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.

Adrian’s diary, begun on New Year’s Day 1981 with his signature multi-coloured pen, takes viewers into the ups and downs of adolescence – from the drama of first love and family break-ups to concerns about acne and growing up.

Filming is taking place in Hartlepool and Sunderland.

We’ll get to head back to Pickle Cottage this summer as Stacey Solomon and Joe Swash open their doors for the third series of Stacey & Joe.

Stacey and Joe will return to navigate family life with five kids, a handful of animals and a home that rarely sees a quiet moment.

This time, the Solomon-Swash household faces its biggest challenge yet with Joe pursuing a dream close to his heart – launching his own fishing lake and glamping site.

What starts as Joe’s passion project morphs into a full-blown family adventure, with Stacey lending her signature creativity, the kids joining in with energy to spare and extended family pitching in too.

Having always found peace by the water, he’s aiming to create a haven for young people – especially teenagers dealing with ADHD or mental health concerns – offering a positive and calm retreat in nature.

Across three episodes, we join the family as they face both triumphs and setbacks, leading up to the big reveal at the grand opening of Joe’s much-anticipated fishing lake.

Stacey and Joe said: “If you watched the first series, you’ll know we’ve been talking about the lakes for ages… it feels a bit surreal to finally see it coming to life.
