Review

Story:

Rambabu (Pawan Kalyan) owns a garage and is a mechanic. But he is a different young man who is sensitive to injustice and doesn’t hesitate to take action as a responsible citizen. Soon, his actions catch the attention of media person Ganga (Tamannah) who brings him to the news channel she works for and gets him a job as journalist. Meanwhile, Rana (Prakash Raj) is an aspiring chief minister and his father (Kota) is an opposition party leader. Both keep hatching plots to bring down the government. Few situations lead Rana to clash with Rambabu. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Pawan Kalyan is again the life and soul for this movie. His livewire performance will be ‘extraordinary’ for his fans. This time, he has also focused on dance which is an added bonus.

Tamannah got into her role neatly and it must be said that her glamour was not really used to the fullest. Unlike her previous films where she had a meaty character, this one was more sidelined.

Prakash Raj delivers yet another effective performance and he fits into the character without much difficulty. He made his presence felt in the scenes with Pawan Kalyan which is nice.

Kota was versatile as usual, Gabriela looks sexy but she is not a performer, Tanikella Bharani was valuable, M S Narayana was mild, Brahmi brought few smiles, Ali had nothing to offer, Shruti was apt, Nasser was natural.

Final Analysis:

Pawan Kalyan and his hysteria these days needs no introduction. Irrespective of how the film is made, the mere fact that Pawan is there in the film is sufficient for the film to have maximum hype and expectations. The star power of Pawan is currently very high and his screen presence is a major crowd puller, especially his fans.

And these are the main factors which Puri seems to have focused while preparing this subject. But it must be said that the brilliance that Puri shows in his films is not to be seen. In this film, he simply sat on Pawan’s shoulders and rode on the power star mania than actually putting his thinking cap on and coming up with a solid material script.

As such, the subject Puri chose is sensible but since it is a message oriented theme, there should be strength in the characters, there should be content in the romance track, protagonist-antagonist track, comedy track. Most of the scenes are ‘touch and go’. What Puri managed to do however was tie it with a racy screenplay and generate 3-4 peaks in few situations. He also took into account the current political situation in the state and came up with prompt satires including one on Pawan himself.

His approach towards media has also been balanced this time. One can get a feel of his ‘Businessman’ in terms of pace and scene execution.

Overall, it is definitely not a film worth his caliber. To those who are into Pawanism, they will love it. But non-Pawan fans or the regular audience will find this to be an okay treat. Given the cost component, the mammoth openings and other factors, the film will find it easy to become a commercial success.

PS: The film culminates with a grand interesting line from Pawan Kalyan- "Meeru maa kutumbaanni pattinchukoka poyinaa parvaaledu..Nenu maathram meelo prathi okkarini pattinchukuntaanu". Well, audience started connecting this to real life of Pawan Kalyan and trying to draw conclusions in the way they wish!!!

Story

Srimannarayana (Balakrishna) is a journalist with a TV channel and he believes in fighting against injustice. He inherits these ideals from his father (Vijay Kumar) who believes in serving the farmers to his best. As part of that, he starts an initiative named Jai Kisan and collects funds of nearly 5000 crores. Meanwhile, Srimannarayana becomes a pain for the local minister (Jayaprakash Reddy) and his brother (Supreeth) along with a Hawala guy Harshad (Suresh). The story takes a turn when Srimannarayana’s father dies and the funds vanish from the account. The blame falls on Srimannarayana. How all that happens and what Srimannarayana does forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Nandamuri Balakrishna is committed actor. He doesn’t compromise on his dance, dialogue delivery, body language and despite his age he gives his 100% to fill the youth character. He did justice to the role.

Parvathi Melton is perhaps seen in a proper masala role for the first time. She has oozed her glamour wherever required and has that natural beauty with sex appeal. But it is better she piles few pounds. If she does that she is sure to rock.

Esha Chawla has wild sex appeal written all over her. She has that nativity oomph factor and with an innocently sexy smile she provides the much needed turn-on factor. If she can choose her roles rightly, she will have a good future as glamour heroine.

Jayaprakash Reddy was comical as usual, Supreeth was not used to his potential, same with Ravu Ramesh, Nagineedu was brief, Kota was regular, Suresh came as a surprise. Vijay Kumar was standard. Krishna Bhagawan and M S Narayana were weak. Duvvasi Mohan had few funny dialogues. Vinod Kumar could have done it better. The others didn’t have much to offer.

Highlights:

* Powerless scenes
* Abrupt editing
* No punch dialogues

Final Analysis:

Ravi Kumar Chavali is known to be a message oriented director given his past movies so this was actually a good opportunity for him to showcase his thoughts because he had a powerful actor like Balakrishna. But then, in the process of coming up with a message oriented theme and mixing it up with commercial elements, the whole thing got botched up.

Time and again, many directors dealing with Balayya are doing the same mistake. They are unable to gauge his screen power, his range of dialogues and try to treat him with common man roles like journalist, lecturer etc. Unfortunately such roles don’t work for this star. There has to be high ammunition in Balayya’s dialogues and heavy artillery in his characterization. That is the minimum standard. If that is not met then the film tends to flunk.

The other thing Ravi should note is giving strength to the villain. Despite the presence of six bad boys, none of them had the power or the stamina to stand opposite Balayya properly. If the villain is not strong, then the hero’s positioning goes weak. Bringing peaks, adding some entertainment quotient are some basic fundamentals which were not applied.

The film takes off with a little promise but after fifteen minutes the energy comes down. The interval bang was met with mixed reactions and second half had a little tempo. But again, the whole thing got predictable and due to the lack of a strong plot, everything looked flimsy.

Overall, this is a film which doesn’t have much for Nandamuri fans or the regular audience. The rating is purely out of respect for Balayya’s image and his sincerity in his performances.

Review

Story

Ravi Narayan (Bunny) comes from a middle class working family in Vizag but then his dreams and aims are big. True to his nature, he also has a very sharp intellect and street smart nature. A chance encounter leads him to Bittu (Sonu Sood) who robs a bank with his gang. Eventually, Ravi becomes the key witness for the bank robbery and he gets Bittu arrested, this lands his life in danger. He is sent to Hyderabad to stay with ACP Sitarama Rao (Rajendra Prasad) and here he meets Madhu (Ileana) and falls in love. But Bittu escapes from the prison and he vows revenge. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Allu Arjun carries out his role with involvement and since there are not many serious moments, he didn’t have to show much energy levels. One thing missing is his superb dance. This is a letdown.

Ileana is disappointing. All her beauty and charm has vanished and she looks starved and dehydrated. Size zero figure is definitely not for this girl. Her expressive reactions showed some life though.

Rajendra Prasad is perfect. His versatility and the way he gels inside the character and story is appealing. Though he didn’t have a strong character per se, he gave enough push and made his presence felt.

Sonu Sood was upto the mark. As usual, he mixed his performance with some humour and some seriousness. Most of the times, it is his facial expressions and the dubbing which deliver promptly.

Brahmanandam was hilarious, his laid back humour is always funny. Tanikella Bharani was elegant, M S Narayana was apt, Kota was usual, Ravu Ramesh was not used to his potential, Brahmaji was regular. The others like Hema, Dharmavarapu, Raghu Babu and others added to the screen space.

Highlights:

* Comedy
* Dialogues
* Pace

Drawbacks:

* No emotional peaks
* Few logics and the super-hero orientation to hero character

Final Analysis:

There is a drawback in most of the Trivikram’s films. Though one would enjoy watching the film all through, one would always get a feeling in the heart of hearts that something was missing in the film. This feeling would haunt the viewers of Julayi as well. To say rather bluntly, one would get this feeling more often in Julayi than in other films of Trivikram.

In the past, he used to cover up this drawback by adding a strong dose of comedy. But in this film, the comedy element has come down by a few shades. Though the comedy part entertains the audience to some extent, it could not make them involve in the story. Since the viewers get a feeling of irritation whenever there is no comedy, Julayi could not satisfy them completely.

Trivikram wanted to design the role of villain on par with that of hero in all aspects. The story revolves around two characters, who are equally strong physically and mentally and what they would do when they are pitted against each other is the theme of the film. However, the director failed to build up the theme and giving it a tight finish. Though initially it appeals to the audience watching the hero anticipating every move of the villain, one would get bored if the same scenes get repeated again and again. The audience should feel interested but should not get irritated when two intelligent persons fight with each other.

Even in the development of characters, Trivikram fumbled again. This problem arises when the director wants to carry the story forward only through dialogues. That is why Trivikram’s films appear routine and are not able to cross a certain limit.

The storyline is not great, the characters don’t have much strength but it is purely the cat and mouse game which is depicted between the protagonist and antagonist and the gaps filled with some comedy and punch dialogues.

And to sum up, one cannot expect a better entertainer than this from the standard of Trivikram at this juncture. He struggled his level best to make it a mass entertainer but ended up entertaining only A class audience. We have to see how audience receive it finally.

Bottom-line: Mind Game

Review

Story

Gandharva Mahal is an ancestral property of Rayudu (Prabhu) who lets it out for rents. He has two daughters. He wants to marry off his elder daughter and the boy’s side want Gandharva Mahal as dowry. That is when an youngster (Manoj) arrives at Gandharva Mahal and rents a bachelor room. There is a legacy to Gandharva Mahal and a bitter episode that takes place four decades back which haunts the house. Rest of story is all about why this youngster entered Gandharva Mahal and what he has done to bring back the past glory.

Artists Performance:

Bala Krishna Nandamuri: Bala Krishna’s role is excellent and he has done extraordinary job. He is regal and imperial due to body language and looks. His look has personified the character he portrayed. His dialogues are good and entertaining.

Manoj Manchu: Manoj is known for variety in his roles and he carried it off with this film too. His introduction episodes are intriguing, but we realise it later that these episodes are part of the justification to the title UKUP. Manoj is a kind of an actor who doesn’t want himself to restrict the parameters drawn around the hero character in Telugu cinema. If you like Manoj, your admiration will grow multi-fold after seeing him certain episodes.

Lakshmi Manchu steals the show with a role that is spread across decades. Her make-up and body language is apt for the aged-role. Deeksha Seth is good. She looks more glamorous in this movie. Sonu Sood is excellent in the negative role. Sai Kumar does another negative character with poise. Prabhu suits the role. Bhanu Chandar gets a suitable role after many years. Ajay is good as mantrikudu, but somebody else dubbed his voice (may be to get heavier voice). Panchi Bora is pretty as Bala Krishna’s wife. Simer Motwani looks majestic as Bala Krishna’s sister. Madhumita played Deeksha's sister.

Technical Departments:

The story of the film is about how a passionate zamindar made sure that Gandharva Mahal remains as a memory of his ancestors despite certain forces trying to disintegrate the pride of Gandharva Mahal. Screenplay is slow in the first hour, but pace picks up once Bala Krishna character enters. There are a couple of unexpected twists in the second half.

Music by Bobo Shashi is good. Anuragam song (original by Vidya Sagar) is pretty melodius and helped the flashback episode. Idi Ani Idi Ani tune is my personal favorite. Background score by Chinna is nice. Cinematography by Rajasekhar is an asset. Visual effects done by Pixion, Chennai are good (especially the Ghostrider kind of horse shots). Dialogues are good. Dialogues written to Manoj Manchu are mostly casual and naughty, dialogue written to Bala Krishna are powerful. Editing is okay. Action choreography by Manoj Manchu deserves a special mention. Art director Bhupati has done a fabulous work with Gandharva Mahal. This Mahal looks different in different time lines. Producer Lakshmi Manchu should be appreciated for passionately believing and investing in the story line that is different from routine commercial stuff.

Final Analysis:

UKUP is a special film for two reasons. One is that it introduces a big star like Bala Krishna in a vital role. If big stars accept story oriented films and act as per demand of the role instead of looking for equal screen space, it’s good for the industry. The second reason is that the producer has passionately invested on the project though it’s a story oriented film with a bit of experimentation. Films like should be accepted and encouraged. Watch it for the performances of Bala Krishna Nandamuri, Manoj Manchu and Lakshmi Manchu. And for the spectacular Gandharva Mahal set!

Review

Story

Sudeep (Sudeep) is a high profile industrialist who gets whatever he wants and he has a special eye for beautiful women. To get them, he will not hesitate to do anything. That desire gets triggered when Sudeep sees Bindu (Samantha), a miniature artist who runs a non-profit organization.

However, Bindu is loved with Nani (Nani) who keeps following her everywhere. Though Bindu loves him, she doesn’t express it to him and enjoys the attention. The story takes a turn when Sudeep discovers the feelings of Bindu for Nani and is unable to digest his defeat. He kills Nani. But Nani is born again as ‘Eega’ and he wants to take vengeance on Sudeep.

How does he do that? Is he successful? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Nani came up with a brief but effective role. His energy levels and his cheerful expressions brings some light moments to the film. He made a good contribution.

Samantha was sweet looking and though she didn’t have to indulge in any glamour show, her simple appearance and performance wherever required did the job.

Sudeep was outstanding. He is the perfect replacement for Raghuvaran and can portray a variety of negative emotions very convincingly. His baritone voice and onscreen intensity are riveting.

Devadarshini was decent, Aditya Menon was apt, Srinivasa Reddy was not used to his potential, Tagubothu Ramesh brought smiles.

* No suspense in story as it’s revealed prior

Final Analysis:

The famous dialogue from the film ‘Businessman’ – ‘Surya Bhai is not a name…it’s a brand’ has a real life example. That is Rajamouli.

At a time when industry folks are working on formula entertainers with a sole focus on generating box office collections, Rajamouli chose to come up with a subject that will take one line to finish on paper and will sound the most bizarre in concept. A housefly’s revenge…how convincing is that? But you have to change your judgment when dealing with Rajamouli’s belief.

And that is bound to happen when you see ‘Eega’. Though he took his time to come out with this movie, he has shown that a lot has gone behind the creation of the creature. This is the first time that Telugu cinema has seen a movie with high quality graphics.

Usually, CG is considered to give effects and impact on the background but in this, it is the CG which is the hero. Secondly, when a creature is the protagonist, it is obvious that there are no dialogues but the major life to the film was given by the exceptional background score of Keeravani. The emotions of Eega he conveyed with his instruments were mesmerizing. Without doubt, Keeravani is still the best in the business. The other department which requires maximum applause is cinematography.

Senthil’s camera angles and the grading he used for different scenes is exceptional.

While the technical standards of the film are par excellence and have redefined the Tollywood parameters, due credit goes to Rajamouli. He is a good storyteller and whatever scene he composes, there is conviction in it.

Without diverting anywhere, he goes about with the plot from start to finish and if there are any loose ends, they get connected before the film ends. As always, he knows how to bring the peaks and keep the momentum on.

As such, there is not much to criticize barring few dragged moments in couple of scenes but it will be interesting to see how the masses will receive this in B, C centers. Those who are tech-savvy will be impressed but to those who seek entertainment and action, this could be a little edgy.

At the box office, the film has success written over it thanks to the hype and Rajamouli brand value. To say the least, he has proved that he doesn’t require star power to click at the collection centers.

Bottomline: Simple subject, superb execution, worth watching!!

"Eega" is penciled to be a techno graphical extravaganza. Directed by Rajamouli, "Eega" film has an animated character 'House Fly' in the title role. While the 'Ashta Chemma' fame Nani is playing the protagonist, Kannada actor Sudeep is the antagonist and Samantha is the leading lady.

The main plot of "Eega" is a revenge formula with wonderful special effects and computer graphics. The villain kills hero, who is reborn as Eega (fly) and remembers what happened in his previous birth. So how Eega's indomitable effort irritate villain and take revenge on him remains to be seen on the silver screen. The movie has garnered a lot of hype and excitement all the way and has become one of the much awaited releases of the year.

Story

Kamal Krishna (Karthi) is a guy who hails from the small town of Samarlakota and he comes to Hyderabad on a purpose. He wants to meet the Railway minister and other politicians in order to save his ancestral home from being demolished by the government. However, he has a taste of the crooked politicians including the chief minister Bhupathi (Prakash Raj). Getting affected by all these experiences, Kamal decides that the only way to get things done is by gaining power. He is accompanied by an auto driver Appalraju (Santhanam). Whether he gains that power and how he does that forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Karthi is a natural performer and yet again he carries himself without any hiccups. However, there are times when he went casual with his act instead of being serious, that could have been avoided.

Pranitha did justice to the songs and offering visual feast wherever possible. Given her delicious sex appeal and fresh oomph factor, she deserves to be seen more often onscreen.

Prakash Raj has done such roles several times before so it was more like a cakewalk for him and nothing special or extraordinary came from him.

Santhanam tried to bring few smiles with his one-liners, Radhika was alright, Kota did his bit as required, Roja was regular, Nasser was natural, Kiran Rathod has shaped up quite sexily and looks good, Anushka’s special role was a delight. The others were there to fill the screen and do their bit.

Final Analysis:

First things first, a film which has to do with politics has to hold an element of seriousness and a magnitude that involves the audience. Secondly, the conviction in execution of the plot has to be so strong that it can create an edgy feeling for the viewer.

However, all that was missing in this one. Of course, the intention of the director is appreciable since he wanted to convey the anguish of a common man and how he emerges from all the odds. But such topics have been dealt before and that too in a much matured and intense way. The likes of ‘Oke Okkadu’ ‘A Wednesday’ ‘Yuva’ ‘Iddaru’ are classic examples for that. But here, the film goes on a lighter note and though the protagonist is doing something really big that is causing major changes, the audience doesn’t feel the impact.

An ordinary person dealing with a minister in power is not a joke. And winning elections doesn’t happen by distributing cricket bats or bringing ration from the shops. If that was the case then big megastars would have become chief ministers, they would not have merged their parties with others. On the other hand, the romance track was completely weak. The juice of romance was missing and this became even worse with the wrong placement of below average songs. The other conceptual blunder was politics of today is all about money power and muscle power.

While money power was shown, muscle power was zero. There is not a single fight between the hero and villain or the villain’s men. If it was meant to be a film with a message, then this element of realism was needed.

Overall, this is a film which starts off with a good intent, has a powerful idea but the process of execution and the lack of seriousness in the situations has hampered its chances. Editing during the first half was good as the sequences between Santhanam and Karthi were different and interesting. But at few places one could get a feeling that they got dragged. Moreover, it is a dubbed flick so not many will know the likes of Santhanam in Tollywood. At the box office, this could turn out to be a below average fare.

Story

Betting Raj (Charan) hails from a slum and true to his name, he is known for winning bets. But all the money got from there is used for a good cause. But in truth, he happens to be the son of Suryanarayana (Parthiepan) a big man of Rayapuram village who is killed along with his family. Raj escapes by chance and is brought up by another couple (MS Narayana, Sudharani).

The story takes a turn when his guardian suffers a heartstroke and 20 lakhs is required for operation. In comes James (Ajmal) who keeps losing bets with Raj. He is ready to give the money but the bet is Raj should woo and make Chaitra (Tamannah) say ‘I Love You’ in 30 days. But Chaitra is the daughter of the notorious and powerful Bellary (Mukesh Rishi).

So what happens to the love challenge of Raj? What is his connection with Chaitra? Who is Bellary? All this forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Ram Charan has developed a strong screen presence and he has put full efforts. If only his characterization was strong he would have given a power packed impact. But his fans would be happy with this.

Tamannah gave the required visual feast in songs and her glamour quotient has been on a high. There was not much scope for performance this time but her screen time is good.

Mukesh Rishi was apt for the role. His personality is still intact and he seems to look the same right from the time of ‘Indra’. It is time Mukesh starts using his own voice for dubbing.

Parthiepan and Ajmal were not required given their roles. But since the film is releasing in Tamil the makers seem to have taken them for nativity purpose.

Brahmanandam, Srinivas Reddy, Tagubothu Ramesh, Ali were there for the comedy scenes but it was not that appealing. Kota was usual. M S Narayana was serious this time. Paruchuri Venkateswara Rao was brief. Dev Gill was okay. The others didn’t have much to offer.

Highlights:

Final Analysis:

Watching the film never makes you feel that you are watching a big ticket venture starring a big hero. It is a story which suits even a B-grade hero.

Given the star image of Charan and the expectations on him and the film, the story was bound to be strong with a strong depth and gripping twists but it is not so. Though the title sounds powerful, it is a routine formula line with no variation. You have the regular half dozen fights, half dozen songs, itsy bitsy comedy scenes, one sentiment which is half baked, a supposedly romantic track which was created only to justify the presence of heroine.

On a whole director Sampath Nandi made a sheer attempt to impress Ram Charan and his family with this movie but not loyal to his story line or acumen.

Comedy by Ali brought some laughs but that failed to sustain with more scenes. Same is the case with Brahmanandam episode and Krishna Bhagawan’s part.

While all that is one side, the dialogues form a crucial aspect for these projects. But here again, Paruchuri Brothers ended up spilling the ink with ‘Self-Dabba’ lines and fingering the Nandamuri clan. Here are few examples:

“Otami ante ento teliyani Genes naadhi” - This will prompt the mega fans to recollect Chiranjeevi’s defeat at Palakollu, disconnecting from the movie for sometime.

“Edho Chuskuni Thodalu Kotte type kaaduraa nenu” –

Listening to the dialogue, the audience started discussing, “The reference to this needs no explanation. Well, it’s like a retort for Balakrishna’s dialogue in Simha referring ‘buradha vamsham’”. That’s how dialogues rubbed wrong side in many ways.

Given their experience, this is not the quality of dialogues expected. On the other hand, it is very natural that the Nandamuri fans will come to watch the movie to check its weight. But due to dialogues like these, it would lead to negative publicity and audience percentage will come down.

The director was careful not to experiment and went blindly following a commercial formula. That has hampered the strength of the script. The production values are of high quality but it is definitely not matching the image of Charan or has that velocity to give a kick to the masses.

Verdict: Just For Mega Fans

Story

Mangalampalli Maharadhi (Rajendra Prasad) is a rich man. His daughter Lovely (Shanvi) and a guy Akash (Aadi) happen to meet through their respective friends those are facebook addicts (Vennela Kishore and Chinmayi Ghatrazu). Sparkles of love start between the two.

And the love line develops between their friends (Kishore and Chinmayi) as well those get married eventually fooling her father who is a politician (Paruchuri Gopala Krishna).

On the other hand Maharadhi loves his daughter a lot and always thinks to make her double happy. He comes to know about her love with Akash who he thinks is not a right match for her. So what conspiracy he plays to separate his daughter from him?

And finally what happens to the love between Akash and Lovely forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Aadi improved considerably from his first film. His physique is also in right sync with mass audience taste now. He is doing well with dances. All that he has to develop is to add grace to his moves. Voice is good and in the period down the line he has to plan to set up his trade mark style of dialogue delivery and body language.

Shanvi is good in various frames. She has the beauty that suits to the interest of Telugu audience. She proved able in portraying varied expressions wherever necessary.

Vennela Kishore brought many laughs in first half especially with his trade mark comedy.

Chinmayi Ghatrazu of LBW fame also made her presence felt in good way with her Telangana dialogues.

Paruchuri Gopalakrishna is ok appears as a politician who gets fooled by her daughter at the end.

Rajendra Prasad’s performance is lacking punch. Ahuthi Prasad is ok but his get up with a wig is weird.

Final Analysis:

There is a heart touching concept in the film 'Lovely' if properly handled. It is mainly the story of a father who learns everything about a guy whom his daughter desires before allowing them to be together for rest of their lives. But the concept failed to bring that feel good mood due to artificial atmosphere.

All the characters appear to be dramatic and with no natural emotions. Characters fail to involve in the essence of characterization and mood. They appear to be moving like robots with no depth in feelings. The content appears rich in many occasions but due to long gap between them the graph suffers ups and downs.

The general impression of any audience who comes to theatre looking at the poster of the film ‘Lovely’ is to watch a romantic humorous entertainer. Matching to the expectations, the film has both romance and humor in right degree. But connecting that in best way possible to the crowds can be possible only by an able cinematographer who is the eye of cinema. Here the faculty of camera failed to elevate the film. The richness in love stories many times attributed to camera work (Geetanjali, Ye Maya Chesave and Ishq). Care would have been taken in that aspect. Adding to this editing has suffered a jerk at climax for planting and revealing the scenes within a span of 10 minutes with a big fight in between.

Music plays vital role in captivating the audience. It is a general phenomenon that the audience walks out from theatres for last songs. But here all the songs including the last ones made audience glue to their seats. Music director Anup Rubens deserves right commendation for it.

Anup Rubens has gone to the stage where the posters can be made with a stamp 'An Anup Rubens musical'. He is now the big music director for many small films. His songs should be used for promotion in big way. Dialogues have good punch here and there.

Bottom-line: Musical feast

Story

Srinivas (Srinivas) is a gullible lover who gets used by girlfriends for his money. Shreya (Reshma) is fed up with guys who wants to take their friendship to next level in order to have a physical relationship. They happen to meet each other when they decided to not to fall in love. They relationship starts with hatred and lies. The rest of the story is all about how Srinivas and Shreya unite after many twists and turns.

Artists Performance:

95% of the actors in the film are new faces. Hence we see characters and follow the characters instead of actors. Srinivas fits the role well and does a decent job. Reshma has Trisha’s features and the director has succeeded in shooting her in right angles in order to make her appear more like Trisha. She is a nice actress. Sai, who did the stuttering friend role is superb and a big credit should go to the director Maruti for the characterization. MS Narayana’s 5-minutes cameo is entertaining. Ambati Srinivas (Vaddu Saroja fame) is good as a watchman. Bhargavi is spontaneous as a rebel friend of heroine. All other actors have performed with ease.

The story is about a right couple who had bitter experiences with wrong counterparts in this contemporary set-up. The entire first half is a satire on current day’s youth and their materialistic attitude. The second half dwells on the real conflict point. Director Maruthi has directed this film like an experienced one without compromising on freshness and contemporary feel. He has studied the attitude and decision-making style of current youth well and shown it in the movie. You would definitely come across such a few characters in real life. He has shown the darker side of love/relationship in an entertaining way. The second half should have been more crisp. I liked the way he inserted ‘ring tring’ song with masked faces of Telugu stars at key points of the film.

Highlights:

* Youthful comedy
* Natural story line

Final Analysis:

First half of the film is fun and second half has story. The plus points of the film are freshness and contemporary feel. The second half should have been more compact and the obscene dialogues/gestures should have been moderated. This film might not find a place for the people who may find certain dialogues and references to be offensive. But will go well with youth and masses. You may watch it.

Story

A pickpocket and chain snatcher (Allari Naresh) gives sleepless nights to many in Amalapuram. He has got his accomplice Chanti (Ali) who helps him. However, they get caught and the inspector strikes a deal with them to steal bank money. Both of them agree, steal the money but ditch the inspector and come to Hyderabad.

Here, the pickpocket sees Nandini (Shriya) a doctor and falls in love with her. He manages a situation and gets introduced to Nandini as Avinash. On the other hand, Nandini has a patient Anand (Sharwa) who suffers from Paranoia. However, the treatment of Nandini works and he becomes alright. In this process, he also falls in love with Nandini.

The story takes a turn when both Avinash and Anand realize they are in love with the same girl and decide to outbeat each other to win her love. Whether they are successful or not forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Allari Naresh has given his usual performance but it must be said that he has underplayed his presence to a great extent. But he ensured that as long as he was onscreen, the momentum was maintained.

Sharwanand has come up with a different performance. His role as the patient of paranoia was good. The later part was regular and he did his bit as required.

Shriya looks ok and wows in dance and songs. But she looks very skinny. Unless she puts on some cheeks and some pounds in her body, her glamour cannot come back to original.

Brahmanandam brought smiles wherever required. Though he didn’t have much in terms of dialogues, he did what was expected of him and did justice to the role.

Kovai Sarala was shrill pitched as usual, Ali was fabulous, Srinivas Reddy was alright, Vimala Raman scorched the screens in one song, Pruthvi was effective.

Final Analysis:

Usually the audience doesn’t expect great stories in comedy flicks so even if the storyline is predictable and simple it is okay. But in order to fill that gap, the entertainment quotient must be in high dose. It should be able to make the audience laugh from start to end.

Directors who work with Allari Naresh tend to focus on providing some mass comedy even if it doesn’t appeal to the class audience. That is why most of his movies fall in safe zone. Making him speak continuously and coming up with unwanted comedy sequences, the writers use his presence and score success. But this film doesn’t have a comedy that can appeal to any genre of audience. Whatever comedy is there has been seen already. So, most of it is forcible laughs but not natural.

Like an old comedy serial in Doordarshan which comes repeatedly, the ‘sense of humour’ of audience is tested. Those who look for sensible comedy might as well wait for the DVD to arrive or can prefer any other movie of Allari Naresh.
