Review

Story

The film starts with the search of Venkat (Sri Ram) and Nikhil (Jeeva) for their missed friend Panchabhatla Saranga Paani (Vijay) along with their college mate Srinu. The story goes back to college days where Paani used to excel in his outlook, thought process and also acts. He was the man who was intelligent and uses his wisdom subtly to silence the seniors and also the most hard nut professors. Viroopaksha Sundaram (Satyaraj), the strict professor and principal of the college (Ideal Engineering College), who was in short known as Virus had a daughter (Ileana). Paani falls in love with her and she responds positively. But Srinu, known as silencer, was a studious student who develops competitive rivalry with Paani. When Srinu gets insulted by Paani in a conspiracy the former challenges that he would be in top of all in future and crosses even the first ranker Paani. Finally who tops who forms the rest of narration!

Artists Performance:

Vijay is ok but cannot be compared to Aamir Khan. It is in fact an inevitable thing to take comparison between the two as each acted in two language versions.

Ileana is with sick look. She is almost like a corpse in some scenes with no flesh on body. Maintaining slim look can be welcomed but that doesn’t mean guys love to watch skeletons as heroines. She performed well but that wasn’t elevated due to her look.

Satya Raj is the show stealer. He performed very well but no originality. He simply imitated Boman Irani from the original. Still, Satyaraj owned the characteristics of the character and gave his best.

Sri Ram and Jeeva performed well to their best. Rest did their job well as per the requirement.

Technically, the film deserves commendations for cinematography. Music could have been better. It’s ok but not captivating. Director Shankar didn’t break his head on narration as he decided to be very loyal to original.

Final Analysis:

The film is a direct lift and shift from 3 Idiots. The creativity of Shankar wasn’t seen anywhere except in canning the songs. The film appeals for those who haven’t watched ‘3 Idiots’ and for the rest it will be a below average one. And for those who respect Shankar as independent film maker, it will be a blow to see a point to point copy- paste activity.

It will be a full treat for student community those come to theatres with expectations. But the condition of not getting the experience of 3 Idiots is a must. Even otherwise, they can enjoy but may not tune up to expectations.

There is no much problem with nativity aspect as the backdrop of the film is completely fixed in a college. And to match to the nativity, comedian turned hero Sunil gave dubbing for the character of Silencer who happens to the humorous one in the film.

First half of the film goes in hilarious tone with full of college episodes and even the second half carries the same. Though the length of the film is almost close to 2:50 Mins, it will not bring any sort of boredom. It’s a film with proven script in Hindi and now it’s proven again in Telugu as well.

Bottom-line: A Perfect Line To Line Copy... Watch it Once

Well, well, we are talking about Young Tiger Jr.NTR’s forthcoming film Dammu. Jr.NTR starrer Dammu being directed by Boyapati Srinu is so far announced as a powerful mass entertainer with all the commercial ingredients. But the latest information is Dammu story is said to be a powerful revenge drama.

Jr.NTR is playing distinct roles while Trisha and Karthika are playing the heroines. A powerful flashback episode is also expected in the movie. Alexander Vallabha is producing Dammu on Creative Commercials. Keeravani is scoring the tunes for the film.

Mahesh Babu Not Interested For No1 Position

Superstar Mahesh Babu who is riding high with back to back hits Dookudu and Businessman say he is extremely happy about the success but is not interested in number games or in replacing any other hero position in Tollywood.

Answering to a question if he'd replace the number one position which has been void after Chiranjeevi left films Mahesh said, “I’m not interested in No1 position rather I would always try to better myself as an actor with every film of mine. I correct my mistakes with each film and look forward to do films that satisfy my fans.”

Mahesh also informs that he always trusts his director once he likes his characterization or the script. The Super Star has signed Businessman after knowing the Suriya Bhai characterization though he hasn’t listened to the script.

Mahesh Babu informed that he has Dil Raju-Srikanth Addala’s Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu (SVSC) and a film with Sukumar in the pipeline.

Jr.NTR, Srinu Vytla’s Action Movie Launch in February

Young Tiger Jr.NTR, who is currently busy with Boyapati Srinu’s Dammu, a mass action entertainer will soon do an Action cum comedy entertainer film with a movie titled Action to be directed by Srinu Vytla.

Set for a grand launch on February 2, Action being produced by Ganesh Babu will commence its regular shooting from March. Action is being made on Parameswara Arts banner. Kajal Agarwal is playing the leading lady in the film and Thaman will compose the tunes for the film.

Kona Venkat and Gopi Mohan, who has provided the script for Dookudu are yet again teaming up with Srinu Vytla for Action. Get ready for Jr.NTR Action folks.

Super Star Mahesh Babu, Victory Venkatesh’s biggest multistarrer film Seetamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu regular shooting has commenced today [January 18] in Vizag city.

SVSC showcases Venkatesh and Mahesh as brothers in the movie. Scenes on Venkatesh will be canned in the present schedule while Mahesh Babu will be joining the sets shortly.

Samantha and Amala Paul are playing the lady leads and Prakash Raj will be seen in an important role. Kotha Bangaru Lokam fame Srikanth Addala is directing the film and Dil Raju is producing it under Sri Venkateswara Creations banner. Music is by Mickey J Meyer.

Review

Story

Nandu (Tarak) is an aspiring IPS officer and he comes from a large and loving family. However, few incidents lead him to clash with the dreaded goon Baba (Ajay) and this results in Nandu landing in jail and emerging soon as Nandiswarudu.

Meanwhile, the government appoints the tough cop Eshwar Prasad (Jagapathi Babu) to put a check to Nandiswarudu and his parallel system of governance. But public support and his goodwill give him strength. Finally, the battle gets strong between Nandiswarudu and Baba. Who emerges victorious and whether Nandu escapes from the clutches of Eshwar Prasad or not forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Tarakaratna has given a sincere performance. He has improved in dance, body language and screen presence. But he needs to work on his dialogue delivery and reduce the stiffness in front of camera. He should avoid imitating his ‘Babai’s dialogue delivery or mannerisms like big moustaches. Most importantly, he should be careful on the projects and roles he chooses.

Sheena was there for providing the visual relief in songs and ensure the romance quotient is fulfilled. Performance wise, there was nothing for her to do but her sex appeal is satisfactory.

Jagapathi Babu is very good. For some reason, he tends to deliver exceptional performances when he does special roles instead of lead roles. Here again, he was the best among the lot.

Ajay is another talented actor. He has the right kind of menacing looks and personality of a villain. Though his character was not etched to the fullest but he made his presence felt.

Rajeev Kanakala was apt, Suman, Sita, Delhi Rajeswari, Sivaji Raja, Nagineedu, Banerjee were there to fill the gaps. The actors doing Tarak’s friends roles were alright. Rachana Maurya’s item song was some relief to the front benchers.

Highlights:

* Beaten track storyline
* Stale melodrama
* Dull first half
* Zero comedy
* Poor imitations of few scenes from other films

Final Analysis:

The film is the remake of the Kannada movie ‘Deadly Soma’ and unlike the regular remakes where the script is tweaked to suit the nativity of the local audience, nothing has been done here.

The key reason for the film to suffer is the weak handling of the script by the director. Though he maintained a good pace, he was unable to deliver the emotional impact or come up with scenes that will make the audience connect with the film. It would have been nice had the film was just dubbed and released than remaking it.

Entire film is filled with killings. Hero keeps on killing the antagonists. The narration goes in a very artificial way without any depth in scene conceiving. No one knows why hero’s father gives a bundle of money to his son when the latter is in prison. Father states to his son giving money, “Keep this money with you and use for need”. Had the director confused prison with a hostel? Such headless scenes made audience scratch their heads.

The real fall of graph starts when Tarakarathna gets into the get up of Balakrishna in Simha with a snake like moustache. He tried to imitate Balakrishna but failed to convince the audience.

Actress Sheena is very short beside Tarakarathna. The director and cinematographer failed to cover the gap with basic common sense. Watching this film is like sitting on fire.

Overall, this is a film which suffers primarily due to the director’s weak handling and a subject that is old school. Given the likes of ‘Businessman’ and ‘Bodyguard’ even the B, C centre audience would not show that much interest so success is highly unlikely at the box office.

Review

Story

A remake tale, the story begins with Venkatadri (Venkatesh) who has great respect for Varadarajulu Naidu (Prakash Raj) as he saves his life. However, he keeps getting into fights wherever he sees injustice. To bring some discipline, Venkatadri’s uncle (Tanikella) sends him to Varadarajulu Naidu as his personal bodyguard.

However, Varadarajulu’s enemy Siva Reddy (Kota) wants revenge and he wants to kill Keerthi (Trisha), Varadarajulu’s daughter. Knowing this threat, Venkatadri is assigned the task of protecting Keerthi. But she along with her friend Swathi (Saloni) don’t like the bossy and over protective nature of Venkatadri.

To play a prank, Keerthi starts calling Venkatadri from a private number and says she is in love with him. After few hesitations, Venkatadri starts falling in love with the caller not knowing it is Keerthi. Realizing his true love, Keerthi also falls in love. But what starts as a prank brings a totally different perspective to their lives. How that happens forms the rest of the story.

Artists Performance:

Venkatesh has always been good with these types of roles so he has a cakewalk in his performance. His sense of dressing is good and his fitness levels are decent.

Trisha looks simply gorgeous. Her real beauty is seen when she wears Sarees and though her role is quite subdued, she has delivered at the right point, especially the emotional scenes.

Saloni got a meaty and significant role. She has utilized it properly and more than her performance, it is her natural sex appeal and a charm that draws the attention of the audience.

Prakash Raj was elegant and his role is brief but effective. Subbaraju was good. Ali’s comedy was a little controversial but enjoyable. Venu Madhav was funny. Kota did his bit as required. Dharmavarapu, Pragathi, Shravan, Tanikella were there to fill the screen.

Final Analysis:

The film happens to be the remake of the Malayalam super hit with the same title which eventually scored success in Tamil and Hindi versions too. So, this becomes the first setback for the film as the familiarity aspect is very high. Moreover, the talk that focus was kept on comedy is not so because what was there in the original has been reprised and there is no extra dose.

On the other hand, the film runs at a steady pace so those who are seeking some fast paced screenplay will get restless. However, despite all these challenges, the director was successful in packaging the film to an appealing level and infused the commercial elements. The action sequences were filled with high voltage. Care was taken to make the film look visually soothing with rich colours, nice backdrops and gripping cinematography.

On the story front, the film will appeal to the family audience, especially the lady audience. And if one has not seen the original, the impact will be stronger. The entire tale runs on a rather matured level and it goes to show the various angles of love such as sacrifice, selfishness, innocence and trust. Given the fact that the story originates from Malayalam where content is given maximum importance, the commercial and entertainment aspects were not upto the taste of the Tollywood audience. But this is more of a class film.

At the box office, the film might score with the grown ups and it might strike a chord at B, C centres if they don’t look for out and out action entertainer. This is a decent festival treat for the Telugu audience but super hit may not be possible.

Bottomline: Can be enjoyed better if you have not seen the original

Story

Surya (Mahesh Babu) is an extremely intelligent and ambitious man who comes to Mumbai with a burning desire to become the most powerful Mafia Don of the city. He comes in at a time when Mumbai commissioner Bharadwaj (Nasser) proudly claims to have wiped out the “Bhai’s” from the city. Surya sets about achieving his objectives in a methodical and calculated manner by grabbing power from the grassroots in a clever and innovative manner. He allies with a local politician Laloo (Shayaji Shinde) and helps him gain power.From then on starts Surya's rise as the most influential Don in India.

In the meantime, he is also in love with Chitra (Kajal), who happens to be the daughter of Bharadwaj. Surya's meteoric rise is not taken easily by opposing politicians(led by Prakash Raj) and they start scheming to bring him down. Prakash Raj and Surya also share a past. What is it? Will Surya realize his dreams? That is the story.

Artists Performance:

Mahesh Babu is simply amazing in the role of Surya. His dialogue delivery and expressions will send a tingle down your spine. He exudes pure menace when giving a 'dhamki' to his opponents. He has shown nice variations in his performance. And he looks stunningly handsome as usual. Mahesh Babu shoulders this movie on his own. The swagger, the attitude and his panache will be a big draw.

Kajal Aggarwal looks gorgeous as Chitra and she has some interesting moments with Mahesh Babu. She does not have much scope for performance however.

Puri Jagan is the other invisible hero of the movie. Take a bow sir, for some of the best dialogues seen in recent times. Each dialogue explodes like a bullet and when delivered by Mahesh Babu, the result is devastatingly effective. The movie is high on entertainment factor and there is hardly a boring moment in the film. The sequences where Mahesh Babu sets about establishing his dominance are highly innovative.

All the songs have been picturized well but 'Sir Osthara' song and 'Chandamama' stand out for their sheer beauty. The much talked about kiss with Kajal has been shot very beautifully and aesthetically. Shwetha Bharadwaj has sizzled in the item number. She has a bright future in the industry. Nazar, Prakash Raj and Shayaji Shinde are ok.

Some cinematic liberties have been taken with respect to logic and events. The bank robbery scene is very rustic and looks outdated, especially in this age of high tech crime. The climax could have been a lot better. The incredible momentum built up for election scene has fizzled out.

Technical Aspects :

Dialogues..Dialogues and Dialogues...They are an incredible asset to the movie. The timing is perfect and the punch is incredible. Cinematography is good. Editing is neat. Fights and songs have been composed well.

Screenplay is highly entertaining and narration is fast paced.

Businessman is Mahesh Babu's show all the way. And what a show it is. He just towers over the movie with his sheer presence and he is aided by some incredible dialogues from Puri Jagan. The film is high on entertainment quotient. Ignore some of the illogical sequences and the holes in the plots and you are in for a highly enjoyable ride. This is as good as paisa vasool entertainers get.

Go and have fun with your friends this weekend. You will enjoy this flick.

Both Mahesh and Puri should be given credit for attempting this kind of film. The film is narrated in a racy and riveting way. This fast-paced gangster movie will keep you on the edge of your seat.

Businessman was shot in just 74 working days and Mahesh worked for 65 days. The film is all set to release across 2000 screens worldwide and is going to re-write the opening weekend box office records created by Dookudu, irrespective of the talk. Get ready to have a blast this Sankranthi!!!

Expectations on Super Star Mahesh Babu’s Businessman are reaching peaks as the release date is nearing by. RR Movie Makers are releasing the film in record number of theaters to cash on Mahesh craze and now we hear the film will have a record number of benefit shows.

If the buzz is to be believed, Businessman will witness benefit shows in 28 theatres on the film release day January 13. Young Rebel Star Prabhas starrer Rebel movie in the direction of Raghava Lawrence is shooting at a brisk pace. The film was recently shot in Bangkok and the current buzz is that the Rebel is slated for a release on the Telugu New Year’s Day Ugadi [March 23].

For the first time Prabhas is pairing up with fair beauty Tamanna in the film and the former Deeksha Seth is playing second fiddle to her. Nippu Has Shaped Up Quite Well: YVS Chowdary

Nippu starring Ravi Teja, Deeksha Seth has completed shooting and the post-production activities are progressing at a breakneck speed. The film’s release was postponed to February 2 due to the delay in the post-production activities.

Producer of the film YVS Chowdary seems to be quite confident on the film’s success. YVS informs that the film has shaped out fantastic and Ravi Teja’s role had lot of fire in it which justifies the title of the movie. Businessman Movie Record Release

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s Businessman movie is set for a release on January 13th and the film is witnessing a record release in all the territories in AP along with other states. Businessman movie will release in highest number of record theatres ever in overseas.

Dookudu was released in maximum number of theaters which was immediately surpassed by Jr.NTR’s Oosaravelli and now Businessman is set to create new records again. RR Movie Makers are planning to cash on Mahesh’s image by releasing it big. In Hyderabad alone, the movie is said to be releasing in nearly 100 theaters.

With the festival season on, and Dookudu mania still existing, Businessman is sure to create the record openings at the Box-Office.

Dammu Unit Canning a Period Song

Jr.NTR’s Dammu is progressing at a rapid pace in and around Hyderabad. The filmmakers are canning a magnificent period song in which the lead pair NTR and Trisha are participating. The song is being canned in a grand set and also has spectacular costumes.

Trisha is donning three distinct getups in the film, in which one of the getups will be a regal look. The actress is all excited about her roles in Dammu.

Karthika is playing the second leading lady in the movie. Dammu is being directed by Boyapati Sreenu and produced by Alexander Vallabha under Creative Commercials banner with K.S. Rama Rao as the film presenter. Keeravani is scoring the tunes.

Thaman Tunes for Ram Charan Movie

Hit music director of Tollywood Thaman has bagged another big budget film. Thaman is all set to compose tunes for Mega Power Star Ram Charan Tej’s film in the direction of VV Vinayak.

This is the first time Thaman is scoring the music for a Ram Charan film. Thaman will commence recording for this yet-to-be titled film from January. Kajal Agarwal is playing the leading lady in this mass action entertainer being produced by DVV Danayya under Universal media banner. The other interesting news is Ram Charan will be playing the dual role for the first time in the movie.

In the meantime, Ram Charan will wrap up Sampath Nandi directed Racha movie shooting.

Pawan Kalyan’s Hangover is a Big Rumor

There is abuzz in the section of media that Power Star Pawan Kalyan is doing a film which is the remake of Hollywood movie Hangover and it would be shot in 3D. The gossipmongers went a step further stating the film will be directed by Raju Sundaram and is scripted by SJ Suryah.

However, Pawan Kalyan’s official sources has rubbished of these rumors and informed that there is no truth in the news. Also, Neelima Tirumalashetty has denied producing a second movie with Pawan Kalyan titled Saradaa in Trivikram direction.

Pawan Kalyan is currently busy with the new schedule of Gabbar Singh that has commenced today in Hyderabad, being directed by Harish Shankar on Parameswara Arts with Shruti Haasan as heroine.
