El término distopía (también
cacotopía, anti-utopía o utopía negativa) nace del matrimonio de las voces
griegas ‘dis’ (malo) y ‘topos’ (lugar); y fue empleado por primera vez por John
Mill Stuart en un discurso ante el parlamento británico en 1868. En el género
de la ciencia ficción se entiende por distopía a una obra literaria&amp;nbsp; ambientada en una sociedad futurista
indeseable para el lector a causa de sus rasgos negativos.&lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;

Gabriel Zaid, en su artículo La
Fe en el Progreso, establece como fecha 1750, cuando el estudiante de teología
Anne-Robert-Jacques Turgot pronuncia su discurso “cuadro filosófico de los
progresos sucesivos del espíritu humano”, como el nacimiento de la religión que
nos ha movido desde entonces: el progreso. Esta idea luego se ve extrapolada a
las ciencias durante el Siglo de las Luces y se acentúa con el positivismo en
los siglos XVIII y XIX. Los escritores de la época depositan la idea del
progreso en sus piezas literarias, caso paradigmático lo representa la prosa de
Julio Verne, cuyas novelas presentan los alcances bondadosos de la ciencia y la
tecnología, tendencia que con el transcurrir del tiempo sufrirá los embates de
la mala praxis que los hombres hacen de estas disciplinas del conocimiento
humano.&lt;/div&gt;

Así, las distopías son resultados
de un estropeado devenir histórico y, principalmente, proyecciones de los males
que nos afligen en la actualidad, o, por ponerlo en los términos de Darko
Suvin, son “nuevos mapas del infierno”. En correspondencia con la idea señalada
arriba, vale decir, que las distopías son la antítesis de la herencia redentora
de La Divina Comedia y de la idealización platónica de La República.&amp;nbsp;&lt;/div&gt;

El movimiento cyberpunk ofrece
futuros distópicos en los cuales los personajes centrales sufren alienaciones
en sociedades post-industriales avasalladas por la tecnología. Los conflictos
contra inteligencias artificiales, hackers, y mega-corporaciones son lugares
comunes para las obras dentro de este movimiento. El desarrollo del internet o
realidad virtual es uno de los temas más explotados por el cyberpunk. El nombre
del género no implica necesariamente el uso de música punk, tal como podría
notarse en un filme como The Matrix de los hermanos Wachowski, cuya banda
sonora va desde la música clásica hasta la electrónica.&lt;/div&gt;

El préstamo del término ‘punk’ se
produce por la radicalidad de este género musical y por su centralización en la
función conminativa del lenguaje. El contexto de nacimiento del punk es la
guerra fría, la cual lo lleva a convertirse en un sentimiento de angustia por
el futuro. Usar el peinado mohicano demuestra como le quedará el cabello a la
humanidad cuando caigan las bombas atómicas. Pero es la imagen del bajista de
los Sex Pistols Sid Vicious (John Ritchie), en su gira por Los Estados Unidos,
la mayor consolidación de autodestrucción y desasosiego por el futuro, cuando
después de ser herido, se regodeaba cortándose a si mismo mientras bañaba a la
audiencia de sangre.&lt;/div&gt;

El momento clave del punk lo
representa la visita de The Ramones a Inglaterra, en donde el punk devendrá
luego en toda una cultura, dada la mísera vida de los jóvenes allá. Su tema
Blizkrieg Bop con su frase “hey, ho. Let´s go” (hey, ho. Vamos) se convierte en
el llamado a actuar. No hay otro género musical que emplace más a tomar acción
que el punk. Este género destaca por la simplicidad de sus piezas musicales que
dan cuenta del desapego por lo decoroso (todo lo material), y la rapidez e
intensidad de las mismas afianza su tensión por la brevedad de la vida.&lt;/div&gt;

Las distopías son la realización
literaria de la máxima nietzscheana de la muerte de Dios, cuya desaparición
simbólica sume el mundo en el caos y en la falta de búsqueda de redención. El
nihilismo es la actitud que impregna a los personajes de tales obras
apocalípticas. Pero también, paradójicamente, como ya fue señalado, su lenguaje
se comprende desde la función conminativa, por cuanto exhortan al lector a
romper el status quo para rescatar el mundo.&lt;/div&gt;
