The Port Authority is expected to invest approximately $4 million into the preservation of Pouch Camp, a beloved Scouting campground once threatened by residential development, the Advance has learned.

A source close to the project said the money comes from the bi-state agency’s $60 million Harbor Estuary Program, which allows the funding of ecologically valuable projects using revenue generated from seaport activity and not from tolls.

Looks like there was a fire at TMR earlier this week.  In a section of camp which is currently not used.

Eventually, the company located the fire about a mile and a half inland in the woods by Camp Kunata, a camp that is part of the Ten Mile River Boy Scout reservation. By 3:30 p.m. additional companies at the scene included Beach Lake, Cochecton, Highland Lake, Lake Huntington and Yulan. Tusten EMS was called around 4 p.m. to provide support at the scene.

By the fire’s end, which was estimated to have burned 30 to 40 acres, 13 companies were involved in the incident, 10 at the scene and three on standby at neighboring stations.

The cause may be from downed electric lines.

Early reports indicated that the fire started due to a downed electric line that sparked as the scout camp was returning electricity to the camp in preparation for the upcoming season.

Not sure how much electricity is still ‘on’ at that end of the reservation.

They continued the Hudson Delaware lease of Camp Ranachqua. Here is a patch from the camp during its first year under the combined regime. As you can see from the image, it now contains a bear which was the totem for Nacha Nimat Lodge #86 which served the new Council. The patch pictured below is the Staff version.

This seems to be the result of issues experienced by the Web host.

The web is full of nice people and not-so-nice people. We are on constant watch for the not-so-nice people, and there is no shortage of them. We see thousands of attempted hack attempts against our customer database every day (most are automated), and we have been able to intercept and mitigate them all. Hackers want to touch your junk, and it’s our job to keep them at bay.
• We performed a full audit of all of our legacy systems, removing unnecessarily stored data and improving the encryption of private data where applicable.

• We put new monitoring systems in place to better prepare us to react to any new threats that may arise.

• We’ve rolled out more thorough auditing processes to make certain our systems are kept in a proper configuration from here on out.
• We are automatically cleaning hacked sites and proactively looking for signs of compromise. As part of this ongoing effort we are sending diagnostic scans to customers and cleaning certain specific hacked injections that we have found in large quantities.

I have spent hours deleting and reinstalling various themes, plugins and other data to resolve the issues with the site.

Dreamhost is conducting further scans to ensure that there are no legacy issues remaining.
