Before the treatment begins the client will participate in a general movement evaluation, and will need to give a history of illnesses or accidents. The therapist will begin with a laying on of hands that will be both relaxing and challenging at times.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;The standard of treatment is usually about ten sessions with about two week intervals.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;The first seven sessions are devoted to a separate part of the body.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;The first session is normally centered around the rib-cage and trunk to help relax and open up tight chest muscles so the client can breathe better and will aid in future Rolfing sessions.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;The last session will focus on realigning and restructuring the muscles and tissues.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;It is important to do the course of ten sessions in order to get the most benefit from alignment.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;After-care will include exercises and further recommendations regarding body work.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;

As we are designed to move, one muscle contracts, another lengthens. There is a natural process of balance and harmony in the structural alignment of the body.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;If an unnatural posture occurs the muscles and surrounding tissues will “learn” and adapt and will further learn this new “alignment” which creates not only muscular dysfunction but other health problems.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;The application of Rolfing is to improve breathing, reduce stress on the human frame and increase energy and healing to both the inside and outside of the body.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;By improving posture, and physical harmony, Rolfing will decrease stress-related issues and improve emotions and create new body awareness.&lt;span&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/h2&gt;
