Sketch time: El feliz

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Fri, 18 Nov 2011 14:43:00 +0000

Textures everywhere!

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Thu, 20 Oct 2011 15:12:00 +0000

Siempre vamos a encontrar texturas diría Cerati. Feliz jueves!

We love music: El mural

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Sun, 14 Aug 2011 00:13:00 +0000

We love music!

Sweet as it can be. Enjoy!

It is time for some good friday music... My respect to Gorillaz, they are brilliant. I never get tired of listening to Plastic Beach. This is part of the re-release of that album: Doncamatic. Featuring Gareth Daley from UK.

Cows are just adorable, this one, a tribute to coolness, what a beautiful carefree gal.

A cow, red Dr. Martens, Elvis sun glasses, tattoos, green fields and mushrooms, isn't it a perfect scene? The Atom heart mother cow should be proud of her. This is a 100x80cm canvas painted with acrylics.

I've been a little busy with a really great project! You will be able to check it out this month on the blog, can't wait to finish it...

Today's post is about some of my illustrations for kids: Africa, ocean or bunnies, they will love it! This vectors were made for decorative vinyls, I made complete patterns so you can easily cut them and make your favorite composition on walls or windows. They are avialable in white, black, red, orange, green and blue.

Have a nice wednesday!

Non-murder tree sculpture

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Fri, 18 Mar 2011 05:06:00 +0000

Hi there, it's been a while, fortunately I have a lot of work and the projects are flowing great.
I love sculpture, it amazes me, Dude & I had the fortune to meet this talented guy, Rodolfo Antonio Abella from Argentina and his exposition "Detrás de la forma" (Behind the shape) at the Antrhopology Museum of Mexico City. Curious way to work, he used the branches of dead trees from some beach in Argentina and uses their orignal shapes to give form to the sculptures, only in certain parts he makes intervention of the wood like the woman's face (see pic). It is an impressive and perfect work.

Check out the horse's tail, is a single branch and gives the exact sensation of movement. It's a 3mt tall piece... pretty cool huh?

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Fri, 04 Mar 2011 19:30:00 +0000

Great! it's friday! a good day to show you one of my favorite pieces.
Last year I took part in a Munny Contest from the guys of Vinyles Chiles and won the 2nd prize, some of them were very nice. My piece is called: "The Bunny Keeper"

The Bunny Keeper is a monster that guards a Bunny City, the only way to get in is through his mouth.

66 Handmade little ones

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Thu, 24 Feb 2011 06:53:00 +0000

As you can see I can also sew stuff, this little toys were made for Wetback Audio a year after the boxes, I created 4 characters this time, all of them wearing little braid headphones, this was indeed the largest handmade production.

I love what I do, even if it takes a long time to make it happen.

This is my satisfaction face. Have a nice thursday!

Paper mache

noreply@blogger.com (Paola P. Madrid) — Mon, 07 Feb 2011 02:20:00 +0000

I learned the paper mache technique from a very talented young man Leonardo Santillan, an amazing puppet maker. Leo was magical. He created the puppet theater group El Tlakuache in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Méx. friend of my mom's sister Laura (who also have a theatre company: Los tiliches del baúl), he taught me different techniques to make my own puppets for one of Laura's shows. Leo and his wife passed away a couple of years ago in a car crash, at least that's what I heard.
Thank you Leo for all the sharing, I'll never forget you. This post is dedicated to you.

1. Red Elephant with dragon

I also made a mache trio for a very nice family in Polanco, they were my best paper mache customers.

2. Elephant (trio)

3. Flaming rhino (trio)

4. Purple hippo (trio)

This is a very long process, but it is worthy, the same family asked me to do a fourth one:
