just like numerous other types of bug infestations, lots of people finding themselves with a termite invasion assume that they can acquire a termite treatment locally and do the job themselves. Well, in some instances where there is a problem in a fairly small structure, well away from the main property this might be possible, but, treating termites is a undertaking which requires knowledge and know how and should really be left to a professional.
To help you decide whether to tackle a termite problem yourself ask yourself do you have a wide knowledge of building construction? If the answer is no, you will undoubtedly have huge problems in identifying the most likely entry points for the termites. Can you safely handle the specialist equipment required? By this I mean tools such a masonry drills, soil treatment rods etc. Again if the answer is no or not sure do not attempt this! Remember, this is not a job involving using a little spray bottle at intervals around the
house - a termite treatment will normally involve the use of quite a few hundreds of gallons of a termiticide being injected into foundation walls, under slabs and into the ground along the foundation.
After made your choice of termite treatment company it is essential to have the most effective type of treatment applied. You will usually have a choice with regard to the extent of the treatment.
Termite colonies will usually comprise of many hundreds of thousands of tiny pests, all hunting for food in a vast array different directions. With this in mind having a termite treatment carried out only in limited locations might be a false economy because there is a strong possibility that the termites will simply find another entry point into your house. Also that most termite treatment companies will not offer any warranty for this type of treatment.
As an alternative to this some companies will have a treatment known as a perimeter treatment whereby they will treat with a non-repellent termiticide solution around the whole foundation wall of the dwelling and at the same time apply localised treatment of any infested locations or high risk areas within the property. It is important that if you decide on go for such a termite treatment that you ensure that the company will supply you with a service agreement which guarantee that any future termite infestation will be exterminated at no additional cost.
However, if you do have a termite problem having the whole property treated is undoubtedly the best option. So what are the best termite treatments?
Termite treatments are split into two distinct categories, baits and liquids. Liquid termiticides which are injected into the soil have been used for a very long time. These are used to create barrier which halts the termites from invading the dwelling and the termites already in the property cannot return to the nest and will eventually die off too. However, these solutions cannot actually kill the termites they only repel them. More modern chemicals will kill the termites as they try to wriggle through the treated soil. For this reason this type of chemical treatment tends to have a greater success rate first time round.
The second option is baiting. Here a solution lethal to termites is buried underground in a cylindrical plastic trap along with a food source such as paper or cardboard to which the poison has been applied. The termites then devour the food and return to the nest to feed the others. The result is that the nest of termites is slowly eradicated. Baiting can be used in isolation in some cases or in conjunction with a liquid treatment depending on the nature of the infestation.
As a rule of thumb, provided the termite treatment is executed in a thorough manner and following manufacturers instructions your home should be protected from further termite invasion for a full 5 years. However this can vary and depends on factors such as environmental conditions and the numbers of termites. Any problems with termites within the first year or so is in most instances nothing to do with the failure of the actual chemical treatment but more to do with the termites discovering any small gap which has been missed during treatment.
The use of any type of chemicals immediately brings to mind the question are they harmful to humans or animals? All of the chemicals used in termite treatments are tested exhaustively. It is therefore safe to say that none of the termiticides used give any significant cause for concern for the health of either party or indeed the environment. For anyone with real concerns about their use, baiting is probably the best option.
Though these insects are small, they can create big problems and damages that a home owner will definitely get worried about. Termites, especially those large colonies, can actually tear down an entire house because they eat up the structures that are made of wood. These insects can weaken the structures of a home which gives a big risk of destroying down the entire house. This has happened to many home owners and it can also happen to you especially if you continue to neglect signs of infestations. It is very important that immediate action should be done against termites so that the damages will also be prevented.

An effective termite treatment should be given to homes where signs of termite infestations are already present. There are different types of treatments that can be used for different levels of infestations. It is important that you know the right treatment to use for your home to be assured of positive outcome. To be able to know this, you can hire a specialist or termite expert so that they can check how severe the infestation has become in your home. Or you can also hire them to do the treatment and extermination. These experts know very well what to do with certain kinds of infestations. They also know what method will work for a particular type of home. Here are some of the methods that are commonly used for termite treatment especially for homes.
For mild cases, experts can use baits or lures to trap termites and make them go away from the establishment. These traps are safe and effective but will not give results right away. The home owner will need to wait for the termites to locate and feed on the traps that are set up before they can achieve results. Also, for mild cases, experts can use mild chemical substances that can be sprayed into the home so that the termites will die and prevent them from even growing into a big colony.
On the other hand, if the case of infestation is already severe, the termite treatment that will be used will be tougher. Experts will have to use a more concentrated chemical substance that will surely kill the termites even those that are hidden within walls or floorings. Fumigation is also a possible choice as this method will be able to reach even those hard to reach areas of the home.
You can inquire from a termite expert company so that you would know what type of treatment is needed for your home. They may have to inspect the whole house so that they would know how severe the infestation has become. In doing this, the method to be used will also be determined. By getting rid of termites, a home owner will also be free from the damages and problems that these insects can create. The house will be able to stand still and serve its purpose for the family that lives in it.

Find out more about Termite Treatment

Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=Cassie_Thomas

Termite Control Treatment: Liquid or Bait - Understanding the Differences Between the Two Treatments

Liquid or bait remedies are the most common treatments for termites today. Most people do not understand how these treatment strategies work, but they can both exterminate termites in your home or business. You will need to decide how you want to treat your home or business. There are several types of termite control treatment products available. In the United States, the most common liquid treatment available is Termidor. It is the most powerful liquid treatment on the market today, as it works better than any other liquid treatment on the market. Termidor is a non-repellant termiticide which means the termites do not avoid it. After traveling through the barrier, a worker termite will carry the material back into the colony where the effect is spread throughout. This in turn will cause the colony to be completely eliminated. If your business is on a slab construction, the chemical is commonly applied by treating the perimeter soil around the structure of the building. When termites have swarmed inside a building, termite technicians have to drill holes through the concrete floor to get to the heart of the termite infestation. The interior structure has to be treated so that the colony will come in contact with Termidor and be completely eliminated. Liquid treatments are very popular in crawl space homes because you can often treat the crawl space and the outside perimeter of the home without having to drill inside the structure of the home. In crawl space homes, the garage is often the only room inside the home that is in direct contact with the soil. Subterranean termites always come from the ground, so you can make sure the termites come in contact with Termidor by treating the entire perimeter around the structure of the home. There are other products besides Termidor that can be used around the home. They are much cheaper than Termidor, but these other products are not recommended because their lifespan is much shorter than Termidor. Other termite control treatment liquid products like Premise only last roughly five years, but Termidor treatments can last for decades. Drilling inside structures is not practical or cost effective for some basement homes and most businesses. For this reason, it is often more cost effective to use bait around the outside perimeter of the building. One of the most common bait systems today is Advance Termite Bait. With a bait station treatment, Advance Termite Bait is placed ten feet apart around the entire perimeter structure of the business or the home. These stations include bait that termites find and return to the colony. The idea is that termites will find this bait before they come in contact with the structure. Unlike liquid treatments that require a one-time treatment, bait stations have to be checked on a regular basis. Stations that show signs of regular termite treatment are checked more frequently. If a termite swarm occurs inside a building with termite bait stations around the perimeter, technicians can install stations above ground inside the building to eliminate colonies that are invading the structure.

Finding small bugs travelling through your home's the walls can be quite devastating - to both you and your home. The good news though, is there are a variety of options for removing troublesome termites from your home. While calling in termite treatment professionals is the first step, you should also survey your home for any potential areas that could have acted as an invitation for the unwelcome home-wreckers.
Termites are most frequently found in areas where wood makes direct contact with soil, but they can also seek out stored newspapers, cardboard boxes, construction debris, and similarly organic waste. Removing these, when possible, is a good way to ensure that the pests won't return. It is also suggested that homeowners fix leaky spouts, faucets, and get rid of any sitting water around the house, as the insects enjoy moist environments.
Once you have placed the phone call and finished cleaning up any potential problem areas, it might be good to consider the treatment options that are available for termite control. Keep in mind, however, that termite control is a job for the professionals. It is possible to contaminate your living areas, you water supplies, and more, making your home an unsafe place for you and your loved ones. For this reason and because of the fact that control can be a very difficult and tedious process, it is never recommended that you attempt to cure the problem on your own.
Chemical Barrier Treatment and Prevention
The title says it all with this form of treatment. Contrary to common misperception, termites do not always live in the wood of the home. In the vast majority of cases, their nest exists in the soil just outside. Laying down a barrier that does not allow them to pass between the food source (wood, cardboard, etc.) and their colony is a very fast and effective way to rid your home of the pests. Within a few days, a house will typically be termite-free. Unfortunately, there is a downside to this method. Many of the chemicals can leach into the soil. That makes the treatment less effective and can also be damaging to the environment, as well as a potential threat to clean water supplies. The process can also involve ripping up flooring and drilling through concrete in order to ensure that the barrier extends beneath the house as well. In addition, the chemicals are often detected by termites before they come in contact with it, which lessens, so, although they may leave the house alone, they are not truly eliminated, which risks re-invasion.
TermidorFor Termite Control
Like the chemical barrier, this method of termite control does rely on precision placement of the concoction around and beneath the home. The thing that this newer form of treatment has over the original, however, is that it is invisible to the creatures it aims to get rid of. Termites cannot detect Termidor. They move through it, eat around it, and carry it back to their nest. It is also highly effective at much smaller doses than the original chemical barriers, which means less risk to the environment, while homeowners continue to enjoy the speed and effectiveness.

Using a Natural pest control approach isn't just limited to using natural products or insecticides. It's about using whatever natural means you can use in order to control pests, including the best way to manage pests, in my opinion and that is...PREVENTION!

Remember the old saying:"An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure?" Well, in regards to pest control, we can change that old saying to: "An ounce of prevention is worth a TON of cure!"

Prevention, using an integrated, practical pest management system may involve mechanical, physical as well as chemical prevention. Since my expertise is with the subterranean (below ground) termite, we'll start there.
Mechanical Termite Prevention
Natural, mechanical prevention for termites involves using physical deterrents, removing temptation, eliminating access channels, and removing conditions that are favorable for termite infestations.
One of the most important factors when it comes to termite control is this: First and foremost, the subterranean termite MUST have a certain amount of moisture to survive. Period!
Knowing this little tid-bit of information is half of the battle when dealing with subterranean termites. Now, there is always an exception to the rule. There is a species of termite called the dry-wood termite that has very limited moisture requirements, but they are more prevalent in the Western states and fairly rare in the South/Southeastern US.
I believe I treated maybe, two (2) dry-wood termite infestations in a five year span in the Conyers, Georgia area. That should give you some idea as to how rare they are. So, since moisture is a requirement for termites, this should tell you that some of the best ways to prevent subterranean termites without using toxic chemicals, is to:Termites treatment

Remove any moisture sources from around your home. This includes any standing water.

Repair any leaking downspouts, gutters and flashing.

Repair leaking pipes, or faucets that drip.

Temptation
Also, temptation is hard enough for even a human to resist, (just ask a kid in a candy store!) so, some other natural prevention methods are to:Termites treatment

Remove any firewood that is stacked up anywhere near your home. I've seen infestations that started in stacks of firewood, and ended up in the home.

Stack all firewood above the ground in a metal, (or some material other than wood) firewood stand.

Do not use pine-nuggets, or any type of wood chips as ground cover! (Sorry, pine-nugget industry)

If you want to use a decorative ground cover, consider lava-rock, granite, gravel or decorative marble and other stone chips. I know they are more expensive, but they last longer than wood chips and they're not appetizers for termites (plus they look better, IMHO!)

Do not store cardboard or any wooden boxes directly on the dirt in your crawl-space, or around the perimeter of your home.

Do not allow any wood-to-ground contact around your home. If any wooden siding, or fence posts etc. has direct ground contact, dig the dirt out until it's not touching your home.

Make sure pressure-treated wood is used for decking, porches, fences, etc.

Do not set up gardens directly beside the home, gardens need moisture, and as we've said, moisture around the house is a big no-no.

If you are building a house, use sheet metal flashing as termite guards under the sill-plate, and around support piers, to prevent termites from tunneling up from the ground. There is also a product called termimesh which is a stainless steel mesh screen that is applied around pipes to prevent termites from tunneling up through concrete, slab-type construction.Termites treatment

There are many more practical things that a homeowner can do that doesn't require laying down your hard earned cash, or using toxic chemicals. One of the more important things to remember is, if you have a crawl space, make sure you have the required amount of air vents per square foot of home, to maintain the proper moisture levels under and in your home.Termites treatment
This will not only help to prevent termites, but will also help to control mold, mildew, fungus and wood-rot as well.

Termites are tiny soft-bodied insects that are related to cockroaches. These creatures live in complex hierarchical social structures and operate like very efficient working machines. They travel in specially constructed mud tunnels in search of wood and other types of cellulose as food sources; and this means that they will view a house that contains lots of untreated timber as especially delicious, and vital to building and repairing their colony!
Do you suspect you may have termites? Treatment to eradicate these pests from your property should be sought urgently. If left to run rampant, termites can devour a house within a few months in order to build up their own society. Termites have existed for millions of years and they are persistent and adaptable. Their evolution has led them to being found in most fairly-warm areas of the world.
Termites in Australia consist of subterranean, damp-wood and dry-wood varieties. It's the first type -- the subterranean -- that tends to thrive in Australian urban areas. As the name suggests, these termites travel underground, and they are the ones that are particularly attracted to human habitats that have some timber in them.
When it comes to eradicating termites, treatment may involve more than one strategy. Sometimes a combination of pest management techniques is required. This should be managed by a professional, as only qualified pest control experts are permitted to handle the chemicals used for termite treatment. They also have access to the latest technology to accurately locate termite activity in your house.
How do professionals treat an infestation of termites? Treatment options include physical barriers to preventing termite entry to your house, chemical barriers, and baiting systems to eradicate the whole colony, as well as direct destruction of the nest. Any old-style or do-it-yourself termites treatment is not recommended -- effectiveness may be limited and because termite damage can cost a home owner many thousands of dollars to repair, it's worth investing the comparatively small amount in effective detection and treatment. Termite repellents are also not recommended as they will only redirect the insects to a different entry point.
If your home has termites, treatment should be administered by an expert who is a member a recognised pest controllers association, has a good track record, and has appropriate liability insurance cover. If you suspect you may have a termite problem or you have found termites on your property and require an urgent treatment call a termite pest control professional today.

Termites occur rather abundantly throughout the United States and they represent a major group of wood-destroying structural pests estimated to cost the United States almost $2 billion a year in terms of the money that goes towards preventing termite infestation or else treating the damage caused by the insects. Where termites are concerned, broadly, the insects can be characterized based on the appearance of the swarmers or else the droppings the insects leave behind. Of the three main types of termites, two tend to be very popular and incredibly offensive including the drywood and the subterranean termites. Subterranean termites cause about 95% of the termite-related damage found in the United States.
As we mentioned above, termites are insects that can vary rather significantly in their biology and as such, there is no such thing as general-purposed termite control products. As a matter of fact, DIY pest control for the treatment of termites can be exceptionally tricky as well as challenging and unfortunately, where termite control is concerned, there is not much that a professional exterminator can achieve that you won't be able to do better. If you are having a termite infestation at home, then all you need to do is get acquainted with the termite control products out there.
Of the three major types of termites, the dry wood termite tends to be the most discrete and secretive one. Dry wood termites are exceptionally difficult to detect and even more difficult to control for the simple reason that the creatures are known to be endlessly small and they can take years to mature. In the majority of cases, dry wood termites occur in furniture, in window frames and in fences. To treat dry wood termites, a number of termite control products can be used but practically, only a few are known to work including Termidor SC Insecticide, Masterline Bifenthrine and Premise Foam Termiticide.
Subterranean termites are insects that tend to be very abundant in the southeastern regions of the United Stated. Mostly, these insects enter homes from the soil. Subterranean termite activity can be distinguished by wood damage. To treat subterranean termite infestations, one can choose to use the Basic Kit of the pest control product entitled Advance Termite Bait System. Alternatively, you can also choose to use Dominion 2L.
Formosan termites, also known as the super termites are particularly offensive creatures. The insects live in huge colonies and they can build nests up to 300 feet high. Formosan termites eat wood at a very rapid rate and they can chew through a whole range of things such as plastics, thin lead or even asphalt for that matter. To treat Formosan termite infestations, termite control products such as Borate Wood Treatment can be desirable. Alternatively, one can also choose to make use of termite liquids such as Dominion 2L or else Masterline Bifenthrin.

Every year, termites account for one to two billion dollars worth of damage. Subterranean termites are to blame for the majority of the mess, feeding on wood byproducts found in many home construction materials. If you suspect that your home is infested with termites, there are some techniques available to help you address the problem on your own. In this article, we will outline the steps necessary for DIY termite control with fuel and oil.
Step 1 - Using a shovel, dig a series of trenches around the perimeter of your property. You'll want to dig closely to the foundation and around the entire building where applicable. These areas have been found as the main entry point for most breeds of termites. Your trenches should be at least 3 to 6 inches in depth.
Step 2 - Do not dispose of the dirt, but rather lay it next to the trench. Once the application is completed, the dirt will be returned to trench.
Step 3 - Using a pick, make a series of holes in the bottom of the trench. Once again, this should be as close to the foundation as possible. Holes should also be angled toward the foundation as a way to break through to the termite tunnels. If your holes do not make it into a tunnel, discard it, creating another hole a few feet away.
Step 4 - If you don't have one already, purchase a water can and fill it with fuel, oil or orange peel oil, commonly called orange oil.
Step 5 - Grab a funnel and position it into one of the pick holes. With your water can, slowly four the fuel down the funnel. Use a small amount and move along to the next hole in your trench.
Step 6 - Once you have completed pouring oil or fuel into each hole, go back around to the first hole and check on it's status. If the soil has absorbed the fuel add some additional fluid to it. Continue this process with the other holes.
Step 7 - Give the fuel a good 24 hours to sink into the soil. Once this period of time has passed, apply an additional application of fuel to each hole.
Step 8 - Next, grab your shovel and push the dirt back into the trench. Make sure when doing so that the dirt is compact and compressed. This can be accomplished by using the back side of the shovel. Termites always return to their home base for moisture, and when denied access they will ultimately die. Termites that happen to be in the tunnel system will be killed off by the fuel application.
Give this process a week to take effect. If you don't notice any difference, you may want to consider hiring on a professional exterminator for termite control. He or she will be able to inspect your property and provide you with service you need to protect your home and avoid infestations down the road.
It's important to find a reputable Dallas Fort Worth Termite Control company that will help you get rid of unwanted critters in a fast and effective manner.

If you notice any signs of wood damage in your home, it was most likely caused by termites. Termite infestation can cause a huge problem in your home, as well as in your place of business if it is not treated. If your home or even your business place was built using a significant amount of wood, then a termite infestation can cause the severe damage to the structural features of the building. Therefore, once you notice that there is a termite infestation in your home or business, you need to contact a termite control company immediately.
You can reduce the amount of money that you will have to spend on extermination fees, if at least once per month you perform a termite inspection yourself, or if you ask a professional termite control company to do it for you. Ensure that places such as door frames, the attic, the basement and window frames are checked properly. Although it may seem tedious performing a termite inspection monthly, it can help you to save a lot of money in extermination fees and possibly home repair. Termite infestation problems are rather complicated; therefore, all extermination should be left to a professional termite control company.
Although termite infestations usually start anytime throughout the year, they are most common during the time when the weather starts getting warmer and when there is a lot of rain. Spring is the time of year when the largest number of termites will get inside your home. Again, if you think that you have a termite problem, you need to immediately contact a professional termite control company.
A good termite control company will be able to tell how it is that the termites got into your home, and they will also be able to show you the best way of eradicating them. Only an expert will be able to properly manage this complicated task. A great termite control company will have professionals that are knowledgeable and also have the skills needed to operate the specialized equipment that is used for extermination. Some of the equipment that these professionals use includes masonry drills and soil treatment rods, and these tools will help the professionals get to the root of the termite infestation problem. Treating a termite infestation problem involves using several gallons of pesticide in liquid form. The professional from the termite control company will inject the pesticide under concrete slabs, inside the foundation walls, and along the foundation of your home.
When hiring a termite control company you need to find out how long they have been in business, if their technicians are trained and how many years of experience they have, what extermination methods they use, and what their prices are like.

Recently a client asked me this question while we were previewing a home. Living in the south where termites are a major problem, my response was it is always advisable for a buyer to have a termite inspection. While they are typically required by the lender, technically in Georgia, a Termite Bond is not required to sell a property. However, I always do my due diligence and advise my buyers to obtain a new or assume an existing bond.
A Termite Bond is a contract between a homeowner and pest control company, effective after an inspection has been accomplished and any treatment performed. Treatments for termite recurrence are free for the life of the bond. An annual inspection is typically included and many companies also provide damage compensation (they pay for repairs/replacement) if the termites did damage.
The seller indicates on the sellers disclosure whether they have a transferable bond or not so there shouldn't be any confusion on whether or not one already exists. As a buyer, you're spending a lot of money for the home, why not have the peace of mind knowing your home is termite free? With termites, if you don't pay for protection now, you will definitely pay more later!
So, what are Termites?
Termites are small burrowing insects that feed on wood (the cellulose). There are over 2,000 species but they can generally be grouped into four categories: Dampwood, Drywood, Subterranean, and Formosan.
Dampwood Termites are found where there is a high moisture content like in forests or near ponds. They are typically not found in homes.
Drywood Termitesdo just that, they attack dry wood. Wood above the soil level is susceptible to infestations, such as attic framing. Sealing all structure cracks will help keep these pests out.
Subterranean termites live in large colonies and build mud tubes to attack wood and protect themselves from open air. With up to 2 million members per colony, they are the most destructive species.
Formosan Termites are the most aggressive subterranean species and can collapse a building if left untreated long enough. Difficult to control, prevention is the key with these wood lovers.
Tips to help avoid termite infestations

Get a Termite Bond and have regular inspections

Move all untreated wood products away from the house and avoid wood-to-ground contact

Eliminate water leaks and fix any cracks/holes in the foundation

Keep gutters/downspouts clear of debris and avoid rainwater buildup wherever possible

Basement, Crawl Space, and Attic should be well ventilated and dry

Avoid wood mulch and keep all vegetation away from the foundation

Treat exposed wood and/or paint where appropriate

Screen your vents...termites can fly

Fun Termite Facts

Termites look a little like ants but are most closely related to the cockroach

The termite is the most destructive insect in North America

Termites cause billions of dollars of damage annually in the U.S.

The queen can live up to 30 years, laying hundreds of eggs each day

Termite nests can be 20 feet high and hold well over a million insects

The colony eats 24 hours a day, every day

Pesticides are used in a variety of settings and by a variety of different people. Pesticides are chemicals intended to control a pest that is eating plants or crops. Pesticides are intended to kill bugs, and because of this are not surprisingly typically poisonous to people and animals as well. The people who use pesticides regularly and may be exposed to toxic levels of pesticides can be individuals who created their own gardens and are trying to keep bugs from eating their tomatoes or workers who are exposed to massive amounts of pesticides because of their occupation working on acres of land with crops that are being treated with pesticides.
Exposure Methods
People can be exposed to pesticides even if they are not directly handling the product. Exposure may occur through:
• Accidental ingestion such as by a child if the product is not properly stored away
• Suicide-intentional ingestion of the poisonous product
• Occupational exposure-the degree of severity of occupational exposure to these toxins depends on the both the nature of the job and the employer. Exposure can be slight, even if the job requires treatment of huge areas with pesticides, if the employer is very aware of the dangers and goes to great length to provide the necessary measures to protect employees from harm such as by providing body suits and masks.
• Off target drift-those that may be down wind from an area that is being treated with toxins may inadvertently become the victims of toxic poisoning.
• Environmental contamination-if a site that is using pesticides does not properly safeguard the water supply in the area, the local population may be poisoned simply by drinking water. This is often the case in rural areas in which there are many fields of crops and the community does not have a great deal of money set aside for water testing and processing.
There are a number of different diseases and disorders that are associated with exposure. Doctors will often offer a number of screening questions in order to determine whether or not pesticide poisoning may be the cause of an illness. Those who are exposed to pesticides regularly should take tests to ensure that poisoning has not occurred on any level.

Termites are easily one of the deadliest dangers that a house can face. Many people don't realize that there are many different species of termites and they are all voracious creatures. Termites are known for attacking the wooden structures of houses and can even cause thousands of dollars in damage. A serious termite problem, if left unchecked, can even cause a home to become condemned and uninhabitable. Most people will end up spending a significant amount of money of exterminators in an effort to keep their home free from termites. Many are surprised, however, to find that do it yourself termite control is quite possible.
Know your Foe
Since there are so many different species of termites, each with their own habits, the first step in a do it yourself termite control effort is to determine what type of insects you're going to be up against. The species of a termite can often be discovered simply by observing some of the symptoms of infestation. The easiest way, however, is to capture a few termites and do a quick visual comparison to known photos of termites.
Capturing a termite can be tricky so a bait station can help. Bait stations attract and trap termites inside of them. The stations can easily be opened and the dead termites can be inspected. This service can cost quite a bit of money but homeowners can purchase their own monitoring stations from the internet. These monitoring stations are an essential element in do it yourself termite control.
Kill them Dead
The next step is determining a solid plan of attack. Different termites will react to different poisons and will be found in different areas of a home. Once the species of the termite is found the habits and life cycle can be discerned. Once the point of infestation is discovered, the homeowner can then apply a number of different do it yourself termite control products. These products can be found at professional pest control product websites and are extremely effective.
Do it yourself termite control is entirely possible and only requires a few special tools and products. With the vast number of different termite species, using a monitoring station is an essential step in do it yourself termite control. Once the species has been determined and the location of the infestation has been discovered, homeowners can then apply a number of do it yourself termite control products to help alleviate the problem. Homeowners will no longer have to fear termite damage or expensive exterminators when they have learned to take care of the problem themselves.

In the past, pest repellents were sometimes used as a method of deterring termites from entering the home. The problem with old fashioned repellents is that they work by repelling termites, but these clever pests will simply look for another point of entry instead! The other problem with repellents is that as the termites avoid them, they could not be used to transfer toxins back to the colony. This is where termite barriers come in, in that you can target termites without their knowing it and win the war by outwitting them!
There are a number of termite barriers to help prevent termites from getting into your home. These can be physical barriers or chemical, and sometimes a mix of both may be advisable. In fact a strategy that involves chemical and physical termite barriers, a baiting system, and a bit of yard clean-up, may be the right prescription for eliminating termites from your place altogether. With some simple organization and forethought, you can rid of them for good!
Physical Barriers
Physical termite barriers can be fitted when a new house is being built, or added on afterwards. Physical barriers are made from materials that a termite cannot eat its way through, such as crushed rock or metal. They can be placed in various parts of the building such as wall cavities, in foundations, and under concrete slabs.
Another way to create physical termite barriers is to seal up all holes in your roof and brickwork so that termites cannot find an entry spot. Ant caps may also be placed on top of stumps to push termites into an area where they can be more easily and visibly detected. You have to be diligent about this because termites are tiny creatures.
Chemical Barriers
Chemical termite barriers may also be placed under slabs or foundations as the house is being constructed. You can also use a chemical barrier in a remedial way, by placing it in the soil in an area where termites cannot avoid it. Chemical termite barriers should be undetectable to termites so that they carry it back to the nest and spread it throughout the colony.
Sometimes more than one strategy is required to deal with termites. While efficient chemical termite barriers may work well, a pest exterminator may sometimes recommend a baiting system also, to monitor termite movement. If you suspect termite activity on your property you should contact a professional pest exterminator for advice.

Among the many other insects that are a nuisance for us humans, termites are on the top of the list. These insects are highly adapted and widely distributed species in North America. All types of termites feed on wooden materials by consuming cellulose and converting it into energy required for living. Therefore, our wooden objects are always at the risk of being spoiled and made useless by being the food to the devouring termites.
In addition, these social insects have very structured hierarchy and live in colonies in the soil. There are different types of the insects within colony and each type carry out specific duties of functions. The two non-reproductive types of termites are solders and workers. The solders protect the colony from predators and outside attacks, while the workers fulfill all others duties. Many different measures have been taken to get rid of these bugs. The article is aimed at highlighting the most effective termite control methods.
Termites control methods are basically of two types viz. non-repellent and repellent. There are certain conventional methods of the termite eradication where the deep drilling into the affected soil is done in order to remove the termites, and there are certain methods that involve the treatment of the areas adjacent to the termite affected areas (which serve as entry points for the termites).
However, for the proper termite control, the category to which the resident termites belong has to be determined. After which either toxic or non-toxic methods of eradication can be employed. Toxic method involves treating the affected areas with certain chemical compounds or physical stresses. The chemical substances can either be repellents or non-repellents. Of these two, the non- repellent chemicals are the most effective against termites. Non-toxic methods of termite eradication are nothing but the use of organisms like nematodes etc. which feed on the bugs like termites and thus make the affected area termite free. Other physical means of controlling termites is by using fumigants of by subjecting the infected area to high heat so as to completely kill the termites present there.
Thus we see that there are several means of eradicating the termites that have caused much nuisance in your household or your garden. It is just that you need to identify the types of termite that resides in your house or garden and then take appropriate measures for its control as well as eradication.

If you are living in the area that was suspected by termite you must keep your eyes on all wooden material on you property or contact your local Termite Control Company. Only an experienced pest control technician can help you with your problem for good.

Residents of Dallas and the metropolitan area might not fully understand the concept of Texas termite control, and with it the specific service companies use to eliminate these pests. If you are from the Dallas area and you believe you may have a problem with termites in the home, use the form above to get into contact with multiple Dallas termite control companies and get the quote process started. It is true that we want to move fast when these things happen to termite inspections make sure we don't allow the pests to destroy our homes, but needless haste may lead to the wrong choice. Make sure the contractor you choose is one you're comfortable with and whose methods you agree with. The cost of Dallas termite control is very important; but equally important is an understanding of exactly what you're getting for the money. Some companies might very typically offer better guarantees than others as far as standing behind their work and including follow up in the original quote. And since follow up work is so often a part of this process termite inspections for many people in Dallas using termite control companies, the details of the warranty might be just as important as the price. Low prices for non toxic chemical application is great, but follow up inspections thrown in as part of the initial price are even better. termite inspections

Different people have different ideas on what the best methods might be for eradicating termites. Opinions may also vary among different companies. The same home might draw a few totally different treatment proposals, leaving the homeowner to choose one over the others. But how can you know as a homeowner which one to choose?

The best treatment method will depend on the situation and the severity of the infestation. The presence of small children or pets could even influence the choices we make on pest control. In spite of specific differences in the brand chemicals they use and things of that nature, there are basically a few different methods of treatment for a typical home infestation. The strategic placement of traps is supplemented by the application of a chemical barrier around the home perimeter and foundation and in selected other locations. The idea for Dallas termite control companies is to prevent termites that are in the home from getting back to the nest, and to make sure that those that do make it end up spreading the poison to the others in the colony.

Termites Treatment

Some homeowners in TX are unsure about the best options that are out there for treatment once they are sure they have an active infestation. With certain warning signs apparent in some cases, a professional inspector is not always needed to verify that active infestation is in fact present. In these cases Texas homeowners are encouraged to go right to the next step in the process which is treatment.

Many Dallas termite control companies are out there, and a large number do offer multiple treatment options for homeowners or a combination of different techniques designed to root out the problem from different standpoints. The cost of pest control is something most of us never think about until we are faced with the prospect of having to hire someone. Yet it is an important subject and one that deserves our attention as TX consumers. The first step involved in finding that cost is to get a Dallas termite control inspector out to your home and assess the situation
