It's always darkest before the dawn, and sometimes you just gotta laugh.Unknownnoreply@blogger.comBlogger476125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-20581280.post-62864918879006546812020-05-23T16:26:00.001-04:002020-05-23T16:26:56.520-04:00

Well, it took years of patience, politeness and persistence, but a few months ago, I finally got the rights back to ALL of my previously published HarperCollins books! That means that I’m finally able to re-publish my Devil’s Bargain Series with the covers and titles I always envisioned for them, and THAT is how I’ve been spending my downtime during this stay-at-home period! (If you remember

...and they all lived happily ever after. Or did they? A few years ago, after releasing the first four books in the Nicki Styx series, my editor at HarperCollins asked me about writing a spin-off series based on one of my favorite characters, the sinister yet sexy Sammy Divine. I was thrilled to develop and share Sammy's world with my readers, but doing so meant that I had to

It's taken a great deal of patience and persistence, but I'm absolutely thrilled to announce that I've finally gotten the rights back to most of the books in my Nicki Styx series! What does this mean, other than my publisher finally got sick and tired of all those "I've met my all my contractual obligations, so please, please, please give me my rights back!" letters?? It means that I can

Many of you have written to me asking, "When is the next Nicki Styx book going to be out?" and I'm thrilled to be able to answer, "Now. Right now!"  :) My brand-new release, WHISTLING PAST THE GRAVEYARD, contains an original, never-before-published Nicki Styx novella entitled "Personal Demons", as well as a collection of supernatural short stories about ghosts, demons,

It's that time of year again, my pretties!  Ghosts and goblins are calling my name (well, not really calling my name, because that would be creepy), but my spirits are definitely rising at the thought of Halloween!   I'm still hard at work on book #5 in the Nicki Styx series, HAPPILY NEVER AFTER, but I couldn't let October go by without some special

To all who've written to ask me what I'm working on these days, I'm thrilled and happy to finally be able to show you. Take a look at the cover for HAPPILY NEVER AFTER, book number #5 in the Nicki Styx series! I took a break from this award-winning paranormal series for a while to write about hot devils and steamy angels, but I just couldn't seem to let Nicki Styx die. :) I never gave Nicki and

When I become emotionally attached to someone, I often have a hard time letting them go, which is also true of my characters. This is why, after a hiatus of three years, what I'm up to these days is revisiting the character of Nicki Styx, who made her debut in my RITA award winning novel, DEAD GIRLS ARE EASY.  Nicki's adventures with the dearly (and not-so-dearly) departed went on to

Spring has sprung, my pretties, and guess what I found while doing a little Spring cleaning? Four (4) copies of BLOOD BY MOONLIGHT were hiding in my office! It seems a shame to let them go to waste, so I'm going to sign them and give them away to four lucky readers! I've just returned from 10 glorious days in sun-drenched Italy, and thought I'd share a few of the highlights, beginning with this photo I took on the very first night, from the window of my hotel in the heart of Florence. This beautiful old building is the Basilica di Santa Croce, the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians ever known, including Michelangelo, Galileo

I know it's still August, but I am SO ready for Halloween!! Luckily, my publisher is, too, and when I was asked to write a Halloween novella for an upcoming anthology, I was only too pleased to say "Yes!" The result was a spooky little tale called The Ghoul Next Door, and I can't wait for you to read it - the anthology just became available for pre-order. (Look at that cover... don't you

One of the unexpected benefits of switching to an e-reader is the virtual "library" it creates for you. With just a quick glance, you can look back and see what you've been reading for the past year. I did that this morning, and decided -- just for fun -- to list the ebooks I've read in 2011 (excluding my own). *Note: This isn't a complete list of the books I've read this year, as I still love

Great news! I just found out that DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE was the Reviewers Choice for November 2011 over at GraveTells Paranormal Reviews. The reviewer includes several excerpts in her review, including one of my favorites... a scene where Samael the Fallen, Lord of the Abyss, comes face to face with both his past and his conscience, and doesn't like what he sees. So, because I love getting

Hope everyone survived the Thanksgiving holiday intact!  I had a wonderful November, visiting the beach at St. Simon's, speaking at the Scribbler's Writing Retreat, working in my garden, cooking for my family.  Now I've put the fall decorations away, put up the Christmas tree and started my holiday shopping, knowing full well that Christmas will be here sooner than I think.
