It strikes me as being another endorsement of mind-body interventions - highlighting the interactivity of the brain, the gut &amp;amp; emotional states.
The evidence is pretty strong that mind-body interventions for conditions like Irritable Bowel Syndrome benefit from anxiety reduction or clinical hypnosis.

A recent study in the Journal of Clinical Psychology sought to examine how OCD obsessions related to religious or moral fears impacted on individual's selection of treatment providers, their day-to-day religious experiences and conceptions of God. While introspection has its benefits, rarely is there much to show for trying to figure out where OCD comes from. Your best move in therapy for OCD is to work on developing a behavioral hierarchy for the things that have been triggering you - or the ones that you've been avoiding - and slowly increasing your exposure to these things without doing the compulsive response.
