A Different Ball Game

If you’re like me, one of those who moved to China from the US, you think you learned all the greatest tricks from the greatest country in the world, and you’re probably super pumped up to start a new venture here in China with your skill sets, here comes an immediate challenge I’m currently facing – Sooner or later, we will realize what we’ve learned from the US, it just doesn’t work here!

Then we’re forced on to a journey to get to know the people, the market, the demands, everything. After all that, you will eventually see the reality isn’t as wonderful as we imagined, the few big boys are just ruling the whole market, their only objective is to expand and kill any competitors, white hat and black hat, doesn’t matter.

So this is a market where you either win it big, or you loose it all. The game of easy Internet money is fictional here, once you’re out there, you’re in the battle field. Better be really ready before you step in, it’s just a totally different ball game.

But hey, that’s what makes it fun isn’t it?

Back In The Game

In mid 2008, despite the fact that I’ve been in the IT Industry almost all my life, and that IT has made me millionaire…. I made a risky, scary, stunning decision – Leaving the IT industry. I was simply sick of sitting at the computer 24/7, felt uncomfortable about the lack of real life ability. I felt like I couldn’t do anything non-virtual, that’s a common insecurity an “IT Guy” gets. I lost the vision and decided to take a break, traveled to China. Weeks later, seeing the potential in China, I made up my mind and stayed.

For the last two years, I was dealing with people from different industries face to face, hosting and attending events, etc. Doing everything that I wasn’t able to do back in US, it was a great journey into the “real world”. Weird but true, while most people are in the US chasing their own American dream, I’m here chasing my China Dream. 2 years of concentrated training on things I never knew but essential have made me feel much more polished and complete as a business person, though there are a whole lot more to learn. But I thought it’d be time for me to get back into what I do best – the IT business. Here I am, back in the game, but no longer a geek.

With the ambition I always have, It’s going to take some serious Dedication and Execution, Now lets see how far will I go this time.
