I'm an accumulator of stuff.
At the beginning of the year, I began blogging at www.tgford.wordpress.com but I couldn't let go of this site so I have decided to re-purpose it into a place to post my photos.

I have dabbled in photography most of my life but I wouldn't actually call myself a photographer. The quality, in my opinion, is just not up to that standard. I feel I'm more of a snapshooter. I don't spend a lot of time lining up a shot or worrying about proper lighting. Most of the time, I'm amazed if the photo looks good. I have even been known to literally <strike>shot </strike> shoot from the hip so I have no idea what I've lined up on.

So here goes, I hope you enjoy the pictures and I would appreciate any comments or critiques you have.

Just don't be a troll, no one likes trolls.Terryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08109503857868143073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9065604335517516127.post-4955207497926578252016-01-20T22:14:00.000-07:002016-01-20T21:35:43.488-07:00For years I have posted to this site via uploads from Windows Live Writer. It is a program which I felt comfortable using and it was really easy to write, edit, and upload with. I have never liked Blogger's post editor. It just seems too clunky to me.
Recently a few things have converged that have made me want to move away from Blogger.
Sometime in 2014, I set up a page on Wordpress just so I could see how it worked. It is a pretty cool site but I'd heard some stories about their space limitations for images uploaded so I never posted directly to WP. Instead, I mirrored what was posted here on Blogger onto WP via an IFTTT (www.ifttt.com) recipe.
Then just recently I began having problems connecting with Blogger via Live Writer.
After some research, I discovered that Google had upgraded their authentication process and Microsoft was being really slow to adapt, of course.
Microsoft then announced that they were scrapping Live Writer and would not longer support it or update it. A group of volunteers have acquired the program from MS, stripped it of its proprietery coding and rebuilt it as openware (http://openlivewriter.org) but as of right now it does not connect with Blogger and does not have the plug-ins that were available in the MS version.
MS Live Writer will still access WP so I have reversed the flow of things. I will now be posting directly to WP and using Ifttt to mirror those posts onto Blogger. When developers start writing plug-ins for Open Live Writer, I will probably switch to it so that I have the latest updates.

So, anyway, this was a really long winded and boring way to say

Come see me over on Wordpress at https://tgford.wordpress.com/

PS. - As of 1/20/2016, I have turned off the Ifttt mirror so there will be no further updates to this blog on Blogger. Adios!Terryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08109503857868143073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9065604335517516127.post-54447019697329440802016-01-20T21:19:00.001-07:002016-01-20T21:19:49.523-07:00

Mrs. Lee’s Rose Garden: The True Story of the Founding of Arlington National Cemetery by Carlo DeVito
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

View all my reviews

Filed under: Uncategorized Terryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08109503857868143073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9065604335517516127.post-9387923678726748312016-01-11T16:16:00.001-07:002016-01-11T16:16:56.513-07:00
That’s my theme for 2016.

I finally heard about the supervisor position I applied for…

I was told that I was at the top of the list of candidates but the job posting was incorrect and should have included a degree requirement.
Basically, I`m the person for the job but since I don`t have a degree, I`m out. They are reposting a corrected job posting which will include the degree requirement.
I get it. A mistake was made and needed to be corrected but did it really take 6 months to get the cajones to admit it.

:/

That means that I won`t get, as my friend Ann calls it, a “grown-up schedule”.
But that also means I have every other Monday off and my goal this year is to spend those Mondays focusing on my writing and photography. Two hobbies I really enjoy but don`t do enough of to be considered good.
So, here we go.

<img title="wp-1452552534105" class="alignnone size-full" actually looking forward to this year.

Focus is my theme for 2016.

I had very little of it in 2015 and felt very scattered and unproductive in all aspects of my life.

Just like last year, this year I’m not going to write a long and winding post about goals and resolutions.

I’m just going to focus on life and happiness, and then sit back and go with the flow.

Happy New Year to all my family, friends, and anyone else who happens to read this, I hope you have a great 2016.

Filed under: <a year I set a goal to clean up my pictures and repost them to Flickr in a more organized fashion.

Well, that didn’t happen.

I also started a 365 Questions Challenge. I was supposed to answer a different question each day of the year.

I think I made it to the end of the year.

I resolved to be more focused on family, friends, health, and happiness.

Waivered a little in this area as well.

2014 was a pretty unfocused for me. I had a few blows to my confidence at work this year that sort of left me off balance.

I applied for a supervisor position only to be told that I was not qualified (no degree). A similar position at another location was announced and the posting mentioned nothing about a degree so I applied for it. It closed on June 29th.

The position is still open and no interviews have been conducted, not just with me, I mean no one has been interviewed. 6 months without a word. My mind has been reeling with all kinds of speculation and my moods have been swinging all over the place and this has not really allowed me to be focused at all.

But here is what went well in 2015….

I managed to write 84 blog posts and read 47 books.

Evelyn and I just celebrated our 33rd wedding anniversary. I’m still amazed she puts up with me.

We spent a week in Puerto Rico. It was our first time and I’m determined to make sure it is not our last. What an amazing place. A truly beautiful place with amazing food and wonderful people. I wanted to look for a place to live.

We had a new furnace and air conditioner install at the house.

We bought a new car.

No one spent a night in the hospital.

No one lost their job.

All was well in 2014.

Filed under: Life Tagged: 2014, Books, Goals, Life, Puerto Rico, Resolutions Terryhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08109503857868143073noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9065604335517516127.post-48128948122353720582016-01-01T21:38:00.001-07:002016-01-01T21:38:50.930-07:00
As usual, I set a goal to read 50 books in 2015.
