We all need help in our businesses at times. (And I probably need more help than others as I struggle with learning about all the different facets of technology such as SEO, blogging, website building, Twitter, Facebook Fan pages, other social networking sites, In-person networking, affiliate programs, and on and on and on…..) Really, it can be overwhelming with all the things there are to learn out there. And sometimes the worst part is realizing all the things that I didn’t even know that I didn’t know. (Until this week, I didn’t realize that I was suppose to care about Google Analytics!)

But where I’ve been able to really get a handle on what’s going on in the business world (at least the business world that I care about) is at Biz Divas. One of the slogans on their website is “The Hottest place to be for businesswomen and entrepreneurs.” And I couldn’t agree more. Once a month I anxiously anticipate an evening with women who have the same thing on their minds as I do on mine. It’s a place where ideas are shared, knowledge is exchanged and support is offered. As part of the monthly meeting, they bring in guest speakers to talk about topics that I really care about and can implement into my own business.

Not only that, Biz Diva’s provides workshops that go into more depth on these topics. They feature passionate presenters and experts in their field that educate & inspire! And as an added bonus….they even let MEN come to these!! ☺ (More info. on the Sept 19th workshop at the bottom of this post!)

Six months ago, I found out about this group and now literally can’t wait until the next meeting rolls around. Within this group I have found not only solutions to some of my business questions and problems, but it has opened up a some amazing networking opportunities as well. During these 6 short months, I’ve added at least a dozen new clients. And as you know, that’s very helpful to the bottom line on my financial balance sheet. But the best part is that these clients are not just clients……they have become Real Friends Friends I can call up to go to lunch with, friends I can cry on their shoulder when my day or week is falling apart. It’s weird….I didn’t go to Biz Divas to fill a void in my social life, but that is exactly what has happened (a fringe benefit I suppose!)

If you are a woman, an entrepreneur (or even a wanna-be) and live in the Salt Lake City area….you shouldn’t miss this! And if you don’t fall into that category, I strongly suggest you find a similar group (or consider starting your own chapter and you can find out more details about that on Biz Diva’s website.) Marilyn was very clear in her LifeVision that she was open to new opportunities.  And it was one of these new opportunities that gave Marilyn’s career path a little twist.  Because she was CLEAR in her LifeVison about being open to new possibilities she has found herself with a new business that like she says ….is EXPLODING!!  It’s been fun to watch Marilyn  and what she’s been creating over the last several months. For those of you reading this who have never experienced Ideal Lifevision and it’s amazing results, let me add a little more context.  One of the 5 life sections that is minutely defined is your Financial/Professional “Life”.  In this section you will write somewhere between 2-3 pages on what that area of your life looks like with all the details.  Rather than trying to define it, I will supply an example at the end of this post.  Once it is written, you then go on to record it with Baroque music in the background and then listen to it everyday on your iPod!  And that is exactly what Marilyn did and now several months later is it showing up and transforming her life!

Affirmations are  general and typically quite nebulous.  Most often they are single statements like the following:

• I am at peace with the Universe
• I consciously bring money into my life
• I am worthy of love and fulfilling relationships

The typical implementation for affirmations is that they are written on cards or post-it notes and then scattered through out the house on mirrors, dashboards, refrigerators etc.  The idea is that you read them (aloud) every time you see them)

One of the biggest draw backs of affirmations is that they aren’t specific enough to create a powerful vision that will compel you to action.  With single sentence affirmations, your mind (or imagination) isn’t given enough information to create an inner picture that conjures up the important aspects of goal accomplishment:  emotion, motivation, visualization, & action plan.

If you’ve read the book, Psycho-Cybernetics by Maxwell Maltz, then you’ve learned that our minds are goal-seeking mechanisms.  Just like an animal, we also have instincts…..but they are instincts for success.  Simply put, if we accurately create a strong enough visualization in our brain, we can’t help but accomplish it as our subconscious does all in it’s power to achieve the image/visualization it was given. (I typically don’t reduce a landmark book like that to a single sentence, so forgive me and I will write an entire blog post about his amazing work)

And that’s exactly why LifeVision is so much more powerful than simple affirmations.  Ideal LifeVision isn’t a one-size fits all but is as unique as you are.  By creating an Ideal LifeVision, you will create your own custom “Ideal You” designed to take full advantage of your unique gifts, talents and personality.  Not only that, but each vision statement will also includes the How, Why, and By When (the action plan).    It is concrete enough that you can visualize it in detail.

And if that isn’t compelling enough, don’t forget that the Ideal LIfeVision is then recorded and listened to daily as an additional method of imprinting it upon your subconscious.

Let’s take this one step further with an example:

Affirmation:
I am a conscious creator and giver.

Ideal LifeVision:
As a conscious creator and giver, I find joy in serving others.  Daily, I share something of myself.  I find little things I can do to lighten others burdens.  I find ways to be in spirit.  Once a week on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 am, I spend 2 hours rendering service.  I have 2 refugee women that I work with.  I spend time with these women.  I mentor them and offer practical service to assist them in integrating into this country.  I have a special financial account designated for blessing the lives of others.  I deposit $250 into it each month.  I use this money wisely for those less fortunate than myself.  It feels incredible giving back as it not only enlarges my soul but creates value for others.

As you can see, the affirmation is a clever and beautiful statement and yet it doesn’t give my brain the specifics it needs to actually do something to become the person I want to be. The LifeVision statement on the other hand gives my brain something to go after.  As I feed that visualization into my mind daily, it can’t necessarily distinguish between what’s reality and what isn’t, but regardless it’s goal seeking mechanism pursues the path for accomplishment.  My mind actually has something concrete to “land on” now and will find a means and method for accomplishing it.

And it’s probably not a stretch of the imagination (since you’re reading this) that you are also on the same path.

But the typical scenario is that even though you were incredibly passionate about what you were reading (or learning) at the time, within a few weeks you were more or less right back where you started with the same old thoughts, habits and unfulfilled dreams. Over time, you began to give up your dreams because they weren’t being fulfilled anyway!  Life went on in the same way it always had.

This is the sad story of too many of us self-development junkies.

But Brent Hall, like most other participants has experienced that attending and participating in an Ideal LifeVision workshop is much more than just fluff and philosophy. He has experienced that Ideal LifeVision is not just another Self-Help program….it’s an implementation system.

Like I eluded to, there are hundred of success and self-help titles lining the bookstore shelves. Most are a wealth of knowledge with incredible ideas based on sound principles. Yet most of us are still lacking the results we desire by reading the books. Why? Because good ideas are a dime-a dozen. How to assimilate the ideas, making them a permanent part of our lives….well, that’s where the gold mine is.  It’s all theory until it’s put into practice.

Ideal LifeVision is not another self-help program.  It’s an implementation system that takes your goals and ideas and assist you in their application.

Life Vision Your MLM Opportunity

With the economy the way it is, many people are looking for additional sources of income. In good economic times people are much less interested in career alternatives, but in bad times they crave new business opportunities for that extra cash flow.

With that said…I don’t know about you…but I have NEVER seen so many people flocking to network marketing (MLM) like I have over the last 6 months hoping to make that very-much-needed additional income.

I’d say in the last month alone, I’ve been approached no less than a dozen times on different “opportunities”. I will admit that even though I’m a fan of network marketing (because I’ve seen it work) for the most part my husband Scott & I remain neutral or unattached because of our careers. His business revolves around producing many different MLM conventions a year & I coach dozens of individuals coming from the same diverse companies.

As some of you know, I have created many MLM Templates for Ideal LifeVision (in conjunction with successful marketers) over the years. Let me take a minute to help you wrap your head around this a little bit.

The Ideal LifeVision is created in sections….one of them being the “Professional/Financial” section. Typically you create a 1-3 typed page “vision” of what your ideal business, professional, and financial life “looks like”. This of course would include income, along with the motives and strategies for accomplishing it.

But it doesn’t really stop there. Ideal LifeVision is also useful in turning weaknesses into strengths. Here’s a couple of examples. Let’s say for instance that because you are so nervous about calling your leads list or warm market, that you procrastinate doing it, therefore sabotaging your success. Here’s something you could “counter” that with and eventually imprint the new mind-set onto your subconscious.

It’s very easy for me to pick up the phone and call 10 people I have on my list each and every day. It’s one of the first things I do as part of my work day. It feels great to get that checked off so I can move on to other parts of my marketing. With ease I pick up the phone, dial the number and begin an enjoyable conversation with the person on the other end. I view that person as a dear friend whom I’m sharing something LIFE-CHANGING with. Because I know the value of what I have to offer, it’s not only easy, but exciting to share it with others!

Here’s another example of how you can strengthen your marketing skills:

With ease, I tell other what I do. XYZ is a natural part of any conversation I have with people both online and face to face. Daily I am asked my secrets of success which leads into a conversation about both the XYZ product and business opportunity.

And finally…..if you’re going to be in this business, you better get good at closing the deal. Here’s a paragraph from one clients lifevision:

“My favorite part of my business is closing the deal. I am a master at it. It is as natural as breathing. I understand that closing a person is merely helping them recognize that NOW is the time for decision making. They are excited about what I’ve shared with them and they are anxious to continue. My potential clients are comfortable with the manner that we transition to this close. I lead them gently to CHOICE and they make the correct one for them. I have learned to master this by practicing on friends and family a dozen times. My expertise pays off as I not only gain a new client but also income that provides for my needs and the needs of my family.”

These are just a couple of ideas that are included in the many MLM templates. But remember, templates are just that….ideas & resources. They are not meant to be used word for word. The Ideal LifeVision is unique to every person and therefore the ideas, actions and vernacular must resonate with the individual.

Sharpen the Saw for an Ideal Life

An hour a day could change your life.

What if you took just one hour of your day, a mere 60 minutes and transformed it from an hour of sleep into an hour of POWER? What if during that early morning hour you focused on what Stephen Covey calls “Sharpening the Saw” (His 7th Habit). A lot of people don’t understand the analogy….but it’s really quite simple. A woodcutter who continues to saw and saw and saw without taking the time to sharpen the saw actually becomes less and less productive because of a dull blade. You might be thinking….I’m not a wood cutter, so how does this relate to me?

If you’re overworked and your productivity begins to fall off, common sense says to take a break, maybe even go on a vacation. However, that isn’t sharpening the saw…that’s just throwing the saw into the back of the tool shed. When you put down a dull blade, it’s still doing to be dull when you pick it back up if you haven’t done anything with it.

“Sharpening the Saw” is an activity….just like the analogy suggest. So what kind of “activities” would be included in your list of “saw sharpening”? Let’s take a peak at what the Master of Sharpening the Saw (Covey) has to say about it in an exclusive interview with Zen Habits:

ZH: To give us some insight into your life, what is your typical morning routine on a work day, that incorporates some of your principles into your everyday life?

Covey: I make an effort every morning to win what I call the “private victory.” I work out on a stationary bike while I am studying the scriptures for at least 30 minutes. Then I swim in a home pool vigorously for 15 minutes, then I do yoga in a shallow part of the pool for 15 minutes. Then I go into my library and pray with a listening spirit, listening primarily to my conscience while I visualize the rest of my entire day, including important professional activities and key relationships with my loved ones, working associates and clients. I see myself living by correct principles and accomplishing worthy purposes. One of my favorite quotes is, “The greatest battles of life are fought out every day in the silent chambers of one’s own soul.” (David O. McKay) Much of this listening and visualizing work is very challenging, so I win the private victory when I have made my mind up and commit to live by correct principles and to serve worthy purposes.

This sounds much like my own personal power hour (which I’m a HUGE advocate of). Power Hour is a tool that I utilize each morning that dedicates one hour in focusing on my mind, body and spirit. During this hour (give or take) I spend time reading, praying, meditating, writing (in blog and journal) and watching a 10 minutes motivational video (related to business or personal).

This is the best way to get my day off to the right start and ensure that I’m spending time doing the things that are most important to me. It not only rejuvenates me, but gives me the motivation, clarity & focus I need for the day. I follow this up with an additional hour of exercise (while listening to my LifeVision of course).

Putting a morning routine in place for sharpening the saw is a common theme for successful people. What routine do you use? If you have a Power Hour…. what results are you seeing from it? If you aren’t doing it yet….what barriers are standing in your way?

Several weeks ago he called me on my cell phone. I picked it up just to tell him that I’d call him back as I was heading into a session with a client. But he said, “Give me a second…you have to hear what just happened to me! It’s a true miracle and testimonial for Ideal LifeVision!!!”. (He proceeded to tell me the story in the video.) Obviously he was very excited…who wouldn’t be to just land a $300,000 job!!

Scott & I have discussed this manifestation at length. Although absolutely nothing surprises me when it comes to “RESULTS” from the Ideal LifeVision….this one has baffled me a little bit. This scenario definitely jumps outside the more typical results that stem from “FOCUS leading to ACTION”.

What was it that made this company change their mind?

How does listening to your INTENTION affect the actions and decisions of others?

No doubt the answers to these questions go beyond what we know about the power of thought & manifestation. I do feel that John Assarraf come quite close to answering these questions in his book “The Answer”. He explains “thoughts” as a spiritual force that goes beyond our physical & current understanding. (My own intention is to study this more in depth and create another blog about it very soon)

I think this story is Ideal LifeVision at it’s best. Believe deeply and continue to focus on the positive outcome you desire (despite seemingly apparent setbacks like in this video). I found it VERY interesting that it was approximately 45 days to when Scott saw his result. That’s the time frame that John Assarraf says it takes to “imprint” on your subconscious. (another future blog post!)

Words also have power to vibrate through different parts of our body. There are words that echo in the heart, and there are others that do so in the head, and again others that have power over the whole body. With certain words, definite emotions can be escalated or calmed.

My research of the Power of the Word took me in several different directions, all of which fascinated me. I came across a book called Your Body Believes Every Word You Say by Barbara Levine. Barbara’s fifteen-year struggle with an inoperable brain tumor led her to discover “seed thoughts” and “core beliefs” that link one’s mind and body. She traced common phrases like “that breaks my heart” and “it’s a pain in the butt” to the underlying beliefs on which they are based and the symptoms they cause. In her book, Barbara Levine recommends that we examine our “seed thoughts” for signs of mindless cliches and other negative elements, so we can replace these thoughts with something more constructive. By substituting negative thoughts with positive thoughts, we can even change the health of our body.

What is the Power of Your Inner Dialogue?

Self talk is your thoughts making themselves known to you. Or in other words, self- talk is our internal dialog…..the words we use when we talk to ourselves. According to psychologist Dr. Shad Helmstetter, our self-talk reflects and creates our emotional states. You can feel calm or worried, depending on what you tell yourself. Your self- talk can influence your self-esteem, outlook, energy level, performance, and relationships with others. It can even affect your health, determining, for example, how you handle stressful events, or how easily you replace unhealthy behaviors with healthy ones.

Hearing somebody else talking negatively is bad enough so imagine how much more hearing your own inner voice is. If you tell yourself you are a failure, guess what, you will be! If you tell yourself you can succeed then you have a much improved chance of succeeding. (Oh, the power of conscious language!)

Author Adam Khan shares a story in his book Self Help Stuff That Works of how Randall Masciana found out what kind of mental strategy most improved a person’s performance when throwing darts. Masciana asked his dart-players to try everything from mental imagery (visualizing hitting the target) to Zen meditation (clearing the mind of extraneous thoughts). Masciana discovered that positive self- talk was the best technique for improving the dart thrower’s ability to hit the target.

This kind of positive self-talk is very simple — it consists of talking to oneself in a confident, reassuring, positive, friendly way. Surprisingly, positive self-talk works better than anything else!

This is great news, because once again, it is another confirmation that the Ideal LifeVision works. And here’s why: Over your lifetime, the voice you hear the most is your own. Your voice is the voice that is most familiar to you and one that you consider to be the most credible. Studies show that your self-talk dramatically increases the meaning and credibility of any information as it enters your mind-brain. You will use the powerful mind-brain science of self talk to your advantage by recording your Ideal LifeVision and listen to it daily……complete with all it’s positive details of your ideal life in your own voice. What a powerful antidote to our usual barrage of negative self-talk.
