519 appear for CMAT from Vidarbha in 2 days

The first Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) introduced by AICTE for admission to management courses commenced from Monday across 61 centres in India. A total of 519 students appeared for the examination in the first two days at Tulsiram Gaikwad-Patil College of Engineering and Technology, Nagpur, the only centre in Vidarbha.

A total of 3,000 candidates from the region have registered for the exam to be conducted online. AICTE has allotted five centres for the exam in Maharashtra - Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Ahmednagar and Nagpur .

However, city aspirants had to face a technical problem on the first day as the questions solved in the last 50 minutes were not saved. "There was some sort of connectivity problem because of which we had to solve the last part of the paper again and were given extra time of an hour. Apart from them, the arrangements at the centre were satisfactory," said Neha Supner, who appeared for the test. Commenting on the level of the paper, she said that the reasoning and general knowledge section was quite easy.

Prashant Kshirsagar, assistant superintendent of the exam centre, informed that around 267 management aspirants appeared on the first day whereas 252 candidates appeared on the second day. CMAT would be conducted online during nine days from February 20 to 28 in two shifts. Kshirsagar further informed that a special team of AICTE, comprising VNIT lecturers, was also present at the centre during the exam to take care of technical problems.

The CMAT score awarded would be used for admission in the post graduate management courses in over 4,000 colleges across country. This test is optional for management colleges this year, but from next year it would be mandatory for all of them to admit students on CMAT score. Over four lakh seats in AICTE approved institutions and university departments would be up for grabs through CMAT. IIMs and various deemed universities in the country have been exempted from this national entrance test and conduction of only CAT is allowed.

Also, from next year the aspirants will be able to appear for the CMAT twice a year. The exam would be conducted with a gap of six months and the candidates will have a liberty to take both attempts and their higher score in either of them would be taken into the consideration.

But Dark Matter had his own twisted schemes which made him give Astra incorrect codes due to which she passed through the black hole and reached an altogether new dimension and landed on a planet named Draconia. She was captured by King Megamath of Draconia and was imprisoned. There, she met 14 other inmates who were also explorers and were stuck in the cell. King Megamath also has a penchant for puzzles. Seeing Astra’s desperation to be free again, he offers Astra a deal. He has two boulder crushing machines, each one of which is either currently switched off or switched on. Only Megamath knows which machine(s) is/are on and which machine(s) is/are off.
One of the prisoners will be randomly called and ordered to toggle the switch position of exactly one of the two machines i.e. the prisoner can either switch off exactly one machine which is already on or it can switch on exactly one machine that is off but a prisoner will not be allowed to reinstate the position of the switch to what it was in the beginning. No order will be followed when it comes to calling the prisoners and any one may be ordered to come to toggle switch positions any day for any number of times. This process may or may not take place everyday and depends totally on Megamath’s mood. None of the prisoners know who or when someone has been asked to toggle switches. A time will come when all the prisoners will get their respective turns to toggle switches. If Astra is successfully able to declare when all the prisoners have got their turns, they all will be released. However, if even a single prisoner is yet to get his/her turn and Astra declares that all of them have toggled at least once, then all the prisoners will be crushed using the boulder crushing machines. The prisoners cannot communicate amongst themselves once the king starts ordering the prisoners to go and toggle switches. If any one is caught communicating with the others, then all of them will be crushed. Help Astra to devise a strategy to counter the evil lord’s cunning plans.
