Johnny Nash to Join Festival

Singer Johnny Nash whose many hit songs include "I Can See Clearly Now" will join us for the Texas Christian Arts Festival and hopefully the festival will be part to the launch of his new Gospel CD.

Cross Wind Productions to Screen Teen Film

Cross Wind Productions' founder and Executive Director Barbara Sundstrom will screen one of their latest teen productions on our Cinema Stage. After the film Barbara will be available to answer questions and share her rich experiences working with teens in Christian cinema.

Lakewood Drama Team to Perform

Wendell Burton the Director of Creative Ministries of Lakewood Church, Houston is bringing the Lakewood Players to the first annual Texas Christian Arts Festival - Waller, Texas. Wendell, a gifted producer, director and actor will be leading his troupe in an original, God-honoring retelling of the story of Waller and its history. Our official website www.ChristianArtsFestival.com is up and announcing the entry rules for our 2008 Texas Christian Arts Festival Poster Contest. The winning artist will receive a $ 500. cash prize.

The contest is open to all, so tell your friends, fire up your computer or get out the paints and start the celebration early as together we are "Pursuing God through the Arts".

Jeannette Clift George Headlines Saturday Night

The Golden Globe nominated star of The Hiding Place and founder and artistic director of the premiere Christian Theater, A.D. Players will be performing her one-woman, one-act show, Jeannette Clift George On Stage Saturday night November 22, 2008.

This show has played to sold out houses in its recent 8 week run at Grace Theater in Houston. Funny, poignant and inspiring, George takes her audiences on an insightful journey to Jeannette the actress and Jeannette a woman whose life has live out our festival theme of "Pursuing God through the Arts.

The Hiding Place will be shown as part of the festival film series. Check back for screening times and information.

The Date is Set and So Are We!

We kick off the Festival the way we should, with a Party! Friday night all our artists, exhibitors, sponsors and volunteers are invited to the Neonfish Welcome Party. At 8pm the party moves to the Purpose DriveIn Experience where attendees and filmmakers enjoy the best in Christian films and shorts.

Saturday morning our exhibits and performance stages open at 10am. Artists in photography, quilting, painting, sculpture, will be showcased in creative spaces throughout the town. While performers on our music stage, drama stage, dance and storytelling stage and more will delight audiences from across south Texas.

Our special Children's area will feature performance stages and arts and crafts exhibits with kids in mind.

At 3pm on Saturday our How Great Thou Art Car Parade will wind through town and finish at a special staging area for these creative rolling works of art that honor the Creator.

Lunch & Lyrics Theater and our Loaves and Fishes Dinner Theater will feature full act musicals by all star musical artists. (Stay tuned for announcements regarding the shows and performers).

Tell your friends, church staffers and artists about our event and direct them to this blog. We will have applications and information regarding booths, volunteer opportunities and more soon.

Please pray for this event, its organizers and participants that in every decision and action that God is honored and that everyone the event touches will be encouraged to walk closer to Jesus Christ.

Chip Simmons, a noted actor who has performed the Book of Romans based on The Message to inspired audiences for over two years will bring his one man show to the Texas Christian Arts Festival.
