Lighting is a difficult subject, but with the proper knowledge and tutelage from industry veterans during our workshop, you’ll receive classroom instruction and real-world examples of location lighting during the hands-on photography instruction.

The Workshop

In this 2 day workshop, you’ll spend the first few hours in the classroom learning tips and tricks from industry veterans. After the classroom instruction is complete, you’ll break into small teams and move out into the ‘field’ with models and an instructor to practice, practice and practice.

The focus of this workshop is using available light using artificial light to enhance the situation. You’ll learn the following topics during our workshop session:

Scouting and selecting the right location

Using reflectors and deflectors to manage natural and artificial light

Using strobes and flashes to compliment or overpower the natural light

Lighting indoors and outdoors

Lighting for large and small spaces

Shaping the mood with light

Basics of Color temperature

After your break-out session is complete, we’ll reconvene in the classroom for a review session where your photos and techniques are reviewed and critiqued by the instructors and the other workshop attendees. NOTE: The review and critique session is optional – you can attend but are not required to share your photos.
