A little road trip around Texas on Saturday.

Bright green is winter wheat.

A reminder of the hot, dry summer...

Creek, looking west.

Same creek, looking east.

Some creeks are not as happy.

Wonder what that is?

Texas' version of happy cows.

We enjoyed the change of color.

Happy New Year!  This crazy hibiscus celebrated the day by blooming.  It has been sitting in a dark hallway for weeks.  If you notice the yellow leaves, I have not been watering it all that much. I guess she is just happy to be inside.

A diary I have carried around for years.

A place to keep my self organized, hopefully, and a new part of my daily routine. Two books.

Looks like another crop has taken a hit this year in Texas. Mistletoe.

The news today comes this New York Times article .

One of the country’s largest suppliers, Tiemann’s Mistletoe in Priddy, Tex., has halted shipments for the first time in its 58-year history.

The north side of the building is "no man's land".  The soil is slick and sticky, shady in the winter and hot and sunny in the summer.  My landlord and I tried to plant a few things on this side last summer and dug straight into construction/renovation rubble. Yuck.
