Amcan Transport Hiring Drivers - Anderson, SC

Amcan Transport is looking to hire 52 long distance drivers. If hired, drivers will receive a $1250 bonus after the first trip and an additional $1250 after 60 days. They are looking for experienced drivers who can either be owner operators or drive a company truck. Despite a little chill in the air, and a few drops of rain it was a nice day for a wedding at the Governor's Mansion! Had a chance to get a lot of great shots! There was a lot of things to cover during the wedding, from the posed shots to the candid shots. It was a joy to work with this couple and their families on their special day!

Mid week check list

With just several days to go before my next job, I'm going down a check list of what i will need for the job. In no certain order.
1. Checking the shot list again.
2. Order of the day ( from start of the day through through the end of the day).
3. Making sure batteries are charged.
4. Memory cards are ready, and new rolls of film.
5. Camera's are in good working order.
6. Clothes are dry cleaned.

The weather so far looks favorable, as this is an outside wedding! I'm ready and excited!

All I have to say is wow. The Governor's mansion grounds are filled with all kinds of great location shots. This up and coming wedding will take place at a commons area between the Governor's Mansion, and a place called the Lace House. The Lace House is where the bride and groom will get ready, as well as where the reception will take place. The grounds have a number of gardens which offer a lot of great shots. It is not even March yet, and spring has already sprung in Columbia. The dogwoods,and saucer magnolias are already in full bloom..

Checking out a wedding location

Columbia, SC is the destination of the day as we prepare for next weeks wedding at the Governor's Mansion. This is a good chance to look over the location as i will not have time between now and then to get a good look. I'll be checking out things like the over all distance to be covered during the wedding, Direction from which the sun will be showing ( since it is an outside wedding ). It will also be a chance to talk to the Bride one last time before the big day. This is also a good chance to make sure we have a good route, and also to know about how much time we need to allow since this is a good drive.

Wedding work flow

When doing a wedding it is good to have a good work flow. I try to get there as early as possible on the day of the wedding. The reason for early arrival is to try and get some posed shots ( bride, bridesmaids, mother), or ( groom, groomsmen, father) to help minimize time after the ceremony. It is also a good time to get candid shots of everyone getting ready, and also to try some creative shots if time provides. I generally try and get shots straight into the ceremony. Once the ceremony is done I start with the bride and groom, and the wedding party, and subtract and add depending on what the posed shot need to look like. Once those shots are done moving on to the families of each then everyone together, and then last but not least some shots of the couple. This allows everyone else to get to the reception hall so the bride and groom can make their grand appearance. During the reception, I try to get some candid shots of the families and friends, and of course the cutting of the cake, tossing of the bouquet, and other traditions that are customary at weddings. That usually concludes the day. Once the word is given i pack up and leave. If you have shots that you want to make sure your photographer gets, it is a good idea to give a list of shots. It helps!

When to get things done

I've been asked by a few brides " When should i get this done?" As a photographer I would day 6 months to a year out. That gives you a good chance of landing the photographer you want. This also applies to most wedding specialist. Last year a person close to me got married. Tried to give them advice about when to prepare certain aspects of their wedding. Well they waited, and ended up with what I think was the 2nd or 3rd choice for reception spots, and the church was not their 1st either. Sometimes by planning early you can also find deals, and it helps to keep you from having a headache with the details at the last minute. If your getting engagement pictures I would say no later than 4-6 months before, and bridal portraits no later than a month before the big day. In general the last month leading up to your wedding should be a time to take it all in, and enjoy it!

Spring Pictures

Now that it is almost the end of Feb, it is time to start thinking about spring, and Easter pictures! I offer 2 packages. The first package is for up to 2 people and is priced at $75. The second package is the family package, and is priced at $110. All sessions are at a local location of your choosing or if you like I can come to you to them. I do both candid and posed shots, and each session last about an hour. Each of the above packages comes with its own prints. If you would rather build your own package the prices are $60, and $85, and you buy your own prints. I'm also currently running a discount on the regular packages through the end of March. 10% off the regular price.

Just about everyone has the ability to be a photographer. The thing that separates the amateur from the professional is a desire to improve from one picture to another. I , from time to time drive some of my family and friends crazy when i critique my own work. There are so many details that escape the average person. For instance, did you miss that stray strand of hair on your subjects face. Is there pocket turned inside out, a button undone, a smudge on their face. Is the composition the best, or the lighting correct. As you can tell there is a lot of things you have to mentally check when taking a picture . Before you press the button. and of course that is for a certain type of picture. You have more of a candid picture where objects like that can be a little endearing, as compared to being to posed.
