CUSTOMIZING WINDOWS EXPLORER CONTEXT MENU (RIGHT CLICK MENU IN WINDOWS EXPLORER)

Ever wondered how does the right click menu (which is actually a context menu) work ? For example, when I right click in windows explorer, I see an option which says “open command window here”. Do You know why I see this ? Well I see this because I have following entries in my registry.

[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd]
@=”Open Command Window Here”
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive\shell\cmd\command]
@=”C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe /k cd “%1″”
If You have never used a tweaking utility and have newly installed Windows XP, You would not see this option. You would have to navigate to [[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Drive] go and create two subkeys (“cmd” and within that “command” and would have to put the text “Open Command Window Here” without quotes in default string value of “cmd” key and the text “C:\WINDOWS\System32\cmd.exe /k CD”%1″” without quotes in default string value of command key). After this You need to REBOOT for these changes to take effect.
Trick is in adding similar entries for other applications as well even though its much harder to come with ideas about what to put in the context menu!!!!

CUSTOMIZE THE SYSTEM TRAY AND SHOW YOUR NAME WITH TIME

You can add your name or anything you like that consists of 8 characters or less. This will replace the AM or PM next to the system time. But you can corrupt some trial licenses of software that you may have downloaded.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\International
3. Add two new String values, “s1159″ and “s2359″
4. Right click the new value name and modify. Enter anything you like up to 8 characters.

If you enter two different values when modifying, you can have the system tray display the two different values in the AM and PM

CREATING A LOGON BANNER

You can change the Icons Windows uses for folders, the Start Menu, opened and closed folder in the Explorer, and many more.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Shell Icons
3. Add a string value for each Icon you wish to change.
Example: “3″ =”C:\Windows\Icons\MyIcon.ico,0″ This will change the closed folders in the Explorer to “MyIcon.ico”. Here is a complete list for each value.

CHANGING TELNET WINDOW

You can view more data if you increase the line count of Telnet. By Default it has a window size of 25 lines. To increase this so you can scroll back and look at a larger number on lines:

1) Open RegEdit
2) Got to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SOFTWARE\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion.
3) Change the value of “RegisteredOrganization” or “RegisteredOwner”, to what ever you want

Opening a DOS Window to either the Drive or Directory in Explorer

Add the following Registry Keys for a Directory:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\opennew
@=”Dos Prompt in that Directory”

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\opennew\command
@=”command.com /k cd %1″

Add or Edit the following Registry Keys for a Drive:

These will allow you to right click on either the drive or the directory and the option of starting the dos prompt will pop up.

1. Open RegEdit
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Explorer\ Shell Folders
3. Change the desired folder location, My Documents is normally list as “Personal”
4. Open the Explorer and rename or create the folder you wish.

To change the desired location of the Program Files folder
1. Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion
2. Change the value of “ProgramFiles”, or “ProgramFilesDir”
Now when you install a new program it will default to the new location you have selected

CHANGEADD RESTRICTIONS AND FEATURES FOR A WINDOWS 7 USER

In the previous Post I teach you How To ADD OPEN WITH ALL FILES & How To ADDING CONTENT TO RIGHT CLICK CREDIT .If you want to make restrictions to what users can do or use on their computer without having to run Poledit, you can edit the Registry. You can add and delete Windows features in this Key shown below.

Zero is Off and the value 1 is On. Example: to Save Windows settings add or modify the value name NoSaveSettings to 0, if set to1 Windows will not save settings. And NoDeletePrinter set to 1 will prevent the user from deleting a printer.

The same key shows up at:
HKEY_USERS\(yourprofilename)\ Software\ Microsoft\ Windows\ CurrentVersion\ Policies\ Explorer so change it there also if you are using different profiles.

3.Go to the Explorer Key (Additional keys that can be created under Policies are System, Explorer, Network and WinOldApp )

ADDING CONTENT TO RIGHT CLICK CREDIT

In the previous Post I teach you How To ADD OPEN WITH ALL FILES.In This Post I will Teach You How To ADDING CONTENT TO RIGHT CLICK CREDIT.Once done, you will be able to right click any file or folder and use the Browse for Folder dialog to choose the location you want to move or copy your file or folder to, without having to go to the destination path.

First we will add the copy and move options to the right click menu of all FILES.
CLICK Start>Run, type REGEDIT and click OK to open up the registry editor and make your way to this key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers
Right click the ContextMenuHandlers key and choose New>Key.
Name the new key “Copy To” (without the quotes).
Repeat the above and create another new key named Move To.
You should now have two new subkeys under the ContextMenuHandlers key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers\Copy To
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT->*->shellex->ContextMenuHandlers\Move To
Select the Copy To key and in the right hand pane, double click “Default”
Enter this value as the value data:
{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
Next , select the Move To key and in the right hand pane set the default value to:
{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
This now takes care of the Copy and Move options for the right click context menu of all your files.
Now all that is left is to add the same options to the right click menu of all your folders.
The procedure will be the same as for files but at a different key:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shellex\ContextMenuHan dlers
Right click ContextMenuHandlers and create a new key named Copy To.
Right click it again and create another new key named Move To.
left click on the right hand pane, add the same default values as you did for Files:
For Copy To:
{C2FBB630-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
For the Move To:
{C2FBB631-2971-11d1-A18C-00C04FD75D13}
Exit the registry and you are done.
Now when you right click on a file or folder, you should see two new options: Copy to Folder and Move to Folder

You can add “Open With…” to the Right click context menu of all files.This is great for when you have several programs you want to open the same file types with. I use two different Music Player so I added it to the “.mp3” key.

1. Open RegEdit.exe
2. Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell
3. Add a new Key named “OpenWith” by right clicking the “Shell” Key and selecting new
4. Set the (Default) to “Open With…”
5. Add a new Key named “Command” by right clicking the “OpenWith” Key and selecting new
6. Set the (Default) to “C:\Windows\rundll32.exe shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL %1″, C:\ being your Windows drive. You must enter the “OpenAs_RunDLL %1″ exactly this way

Step 1: First One Open Mozilla Firefox.
Step 2: Click on Firefox button at the top left side.Then Click on Options>>Options.

Step 3: Click on "Advanced" button and then click on "Settings" button under the "Network" section.

Step 4: In this window you can change the proxy settings for your computer. We recommend you unchecked all other check box other than manual proxy configratuion. check on manual proxy configration.After click on manual proxy configration in http proxy box put ip address and in port box put port number.

Step 5: After Put Ip address and prot number check the check box use this proxy for all protocols.
