First up, Wilbert Roget II picked up 2 nominations in the Best Score Soundtrack for Video Games and Other Interactive Media, for both Helldivers 2 as well as his soundtrack for the Star Wars Outlaws DLC content: Wildcard and Pirate’s Fortune. These nominations follow his 2025 nomination in the same category for Star Wars Outlaws.

Next up, game music community rapper and producer Mega Ran received his first ever nomination for his album Buddy’s Magic Tree House in the Best Children’s Music Album category.

Finally, the 8-Bit Big Band was awarded their 3rd and 4th Grammy nominations this year. First, in the Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album category for their 2025 album, Orchestrator Emulator, as well as the nomination and win for their Super Mario theme arrangement, Super Mario Praise Break, from the same album, in the Best Arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella category.

Highlights:

• News will now primarily be handled by the VGM News brand of the ThaSauce Network. All relevant social media is migrating.
• ThaSauce Network itself will remain the overall brand identity.
• ThaSauce.net will transform into a portal site for the children sites (VGM News, Compo, VGMix Archive, etc).
• Compoverse will see a huge update later this year. Other sites should follow soon after.
• Expect a big merch rollout throughout the year.

Some notes:

• I’ll likely not make click-back video titles/thumbnails every time, but this time I just couldn’t resist.
• Please be patient with me as I wrestle with WordPress and attempt to learn their “no-code” editor. The layout will continue to shift until everything falls into place. There will be some oddness while I get used to WordPress again.
• Some legacy content will probably look weird.
• Currently, the site is undergoing maintenance during this transition, and it’s likely that ActivityPub updates won’t work for the time being. I’ll make a small update when it’s confirmed fixed.

If you released a video game remix or cover between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2025, you are eligible to submit one track (including collaborations) to one of the following categories:

• Best Symphonic/Orchestral Cover or Remix
• Best Acoustic/Chamber Cover or Remix
• Best Vocal Cover or Remix
• Best Electronic Cover or Remix
• Best Hybrid Cover or Remix
• Best Rock/Metal Cover or Remix
• Best Jazz/Funk/Fusion Cover or Remix
• Best Hip Hop/Rap Cover or Remix

In addition, you may also submit to the following categories:

• Best Video Game Cover or Remix Music Video
• Best Video Game Cover or Remix Album

Additionally, the track must have been originally released in 2025; re-releases are not allowed, and, of course, generative AI must not be used to create any part of the cover or remix.

After review by the GMRA planning committee, the submissions will be narrowed down to five nominees per category. Then, a panel of guest judges will select the winners, who will be announced at VGM Con this year, taking place at the Crowne Plaza Minneapolis West in Minneapolis, MN, from April 17th through 19th.

The Virtua Ongaku Overdrive Pride Charity Show will be hosted on Ongaku Overdrive’s Twitch Channel and feature artists Theology x Joeyz64, Ben Briggs, The Last Seahorse, Weebwitched, Bi Score, Gwiz, Rhythm Bastard, and Shubzilla x Bill Beats. The show will benefit the Orlando-based LGBTQ+ organization Zebra Youth. In addition, Tantrum will donate $5 for every item sold to the Ongaku Overdrive Tilitify campaign.
