The communique recaps the current controversy highlighting that due to the dispute with the Grand Master, the GLNF is being run by a court appointed administrator and that all of the internal problems are now widely covered in the press.</p><p>The document also expresses concern that because of this controversy, the GLNF will bring "regular Freemasonry itself into disrepute". The signing Grand Masters agreed to initiate procedures to suspend recognition of the GLNF.</p><p>However, as the brother points out, nothing firm has happened yet and inter-visitation can still occur... for now.</p><p>I am a huge admirer of the GLNF lodges in Thailand. Their work is beautiful and their hospitality is extraordinary. Rev Baker was not only an ardent Freemason, he was according to the article, the Assistant Grand Chaplain for the <a href="http://www.ugle.org.uk/">UGLE </a>(alas, I'm unable to confirm this).<br /><br />In the <a href="http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/content.asp?id=112694">article</a>, Rev. Baker defends his membership in the Craft and denies that it is incompatible with Christianity. He said, "<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: arial, tahoma, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-size: 12px;">Had I ever encountered anything in Freemasonry&nbsp;incompatible&nbsp;with my Christian faith, I would, of course, have resigned at once."</span></span><br /><span class="Apple-style-span" style="border-collapse: collapse; font-family: arial, tahoma, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;"><br /></span><br />However, the Archbishop felt differently. &nbsp;According to the <a href="http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/content.asp?id=112694">article</a>, Dr. Williams invited Rev. Baker to a discussion to "reconsider" his membership in Masonry. &nbsp;So we are left with the impression that Rev. Baker was strong-armed into leaving the Craft.<br /><br />The article leaves us with the&nbsp;revelation from&nbsp;&nbsp;2004, when it was discovered that Dr. Williams had repeatedly blocked the appointment of Freemasons to senior clerics while he was the Bishop of Monmouth. &nbsp;Bigotry and ignorance rule the day once more.<br /><br />There are two final points. &nbsp;In a <a href="http://www.churchtimes.co.uk/content.asp?id=112323">commentary </a>on the article, Giles Fraser of the Church Times emphasized the point that the Church of England has a stance on Freemasonry...uneasiness. &nbsp;While not officially banned, there have been <a href="http://thaifreemason.blogspot.com/2008/04/workman-unashamed.html">numerous instances</a> where Masons have been discriminated against or passed over for promotion. &nbsp;This, despite having previously had Archbishops who were Freemasons. <br /><br /><br />The Thai Freemason is the independent voice of Freemasonry in Thailand.<br /><b>Visit <a href="http://www.thaifreemason.com/">www.thaifreemason.com</a></b><div class="blogger-post-footer">Visit www.thaifreemason.com <!-- google_ad_client = "pub-9559856792943611"; Jonathan Baker as the next Bishop of Ebbsfleet.<br /><br />Upon his appointment, Rev. Baker had been a Freemason for over 20 years and was very active in the organization. Dr. Williams has a long history opposing the Craft, so this appointment of an "out" Freemason seemed very out of character. &nbsp;The article highlights Dr. Williams various public statements against Freemasonry including "Three S's" (Satanic, secretive and sexist).<br /><br />While Masons might look at this as an indication that Rev.
