AHMEDABAD: When Gita Sarabhai passed away on Friday, Gujarat lost a musician who helped italicise an important part of world music with Indian intuitions.

Sarabhai, one of the first woman pakhavaj players – if not the first woman exponent of that daunting percussion instrument – will be remembered as a magnanimous patron of music, and as a well-regarded musician. In the latter role, she helped John Cage, the American avant-garde guru of the 20th century, make sense of Indian music's spiritual enchantments.

Sarabhai, Dr Vikram Sarabhai's younger sister, was 89 — yet her devotion to music was as fervent as it was 70 years ago, when she introduced stalwarts such as Govindrao Burhanpurkar, a pakhavaj legend, to Ahmedabad.

"Not only was Gitaben a knowledgeable music lover, but also an accomplished musician," said Manju Mehta, a celebrated sitarist, the wife of the late Pandit Nandan Mehta, and the force behind Saptak these days. "Gitaben had a valuable archive, with a collection of some rare recordings."

One of Sarabhai's most feted gifts was to bring together worthy young musicians and discerning rasikas. Her affection and admiration for promising exponents manifested itself during the Saptak music festival this year. "She called to say that she could not make it to my performance because she had not been keeping too well," said Viraj Amar, a distinguished custodian of Banaras gayaki in Ahmedabad. "She was not only a great music aficionado but a committed musician as well." Vivek Khadpekar, a music lover who knew Sarabhai, amplifies that contention. "Gita was sensitising young musicians to great opportunities as far back as the 1940s," Khadpekar said. "Her passing away represents a personal loss for me. She never hankered after fame."

Indeed, what Sarabhai wanted was the purity of sadhana, which she sought under her gurus Rasoolan Bai, a Banaras Gharana titan; and Anjanibai Malpekar, a Bhendibazar Gharana notable.

Sarabhai belonged to an era in which even icons like Kesarbai Kerkar – a tornado of temper and genius – relied on the hospitality of patrons. Today, musical divinities are showered with corporate offerings, and the patronage of refined individuals is on the wane. If tributes to Sarabhai alloy love with respect, it is because she pushed back the horizon of aspiration, at a time when the horizon itself was only an inchoate cultural frontline.

"KLASSIKAL KIDZ" is a special concert on November 8th to draw attention to Thailand's children, in particular those who need our help the most. It's classical music, performed by kids, performed FOR kids, by the youthful Siam Sinfonietta under the direction of Maestro Somtow Sucharitkul.

In particular, the concert will draw attention to the work being done for Thailand's kids by the any volunteer groups who do so much for this country. 100 kids and their parents from the World Vision projects will be the Sinfonietta's special guests at this concert. There will be special booths set up so people can sign up to sponsor a child,

In addition, the Sinfonietta has invited children from Bangkok and beyond, including children from Nakon Ratchasima who have been affected by recent flooding.

In planning this concert, Maestro Somtow was inspired by a conversation he had with Father Joe Maier. "I asked Father Joe what I should to help raise money for his slum projects" and he replied, "Don't worry about the money. What the kids really need is quality time. They need you to do real things for them, to really give them of yourself." Somtow said, "It's wonderful to see the reactions of young people who have never heard a live symphony orchestra before. It's exciting and you know that for some of them it will be a life-changing experience."

The concert features "REAL" classical music -- from Haydn's thrilling Symphony No. 104 to Saint Saens's entertaining "Carnival of the Animals." Special features will be the world premiere of a new piece by 18-year old Jay (Natthapong Yutthanasirikul) recent winner of the international choir composition competition organized by Festa Musicale of the Czech Republic, some excerpts from Bruce Gaston's "A Boy and a Tiger", and Bach's double concerto for two violins featuring the amazing 5-year-old Ploy (Erika Ngarmcroh) in her debut with orchestra.

Musical Voices

งานมหกรรมการแสดงผลงานการประพันธ์เพลงนานาชาติแห่งประเทศไทย 2553 ณ มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต เมื่อวันที่ 12 กรกฎาคม 2553 ได้มีการบรรยายในหัวข้อ “Musical Voices” โดย ดร.ณรงค์ ปรางค์เจริญ นักประพันธ์เพลง ซึ่งได้รับรางวัลการประพันธ์เพลงในระดับนานาชาติหลายรางวัล และได้รับรางวัลศิลปาธร จากกระทรวงวัฒนธรรมในปี พ.ศ. 2550 ในการบรรยายครั้งนี้ ดร.ณรงค์ ได้อธิบายถึงเสียงดนตรีที่อยู่ภายในตัวเราแต่ละคนว่ามีที่มาอย่างไร ทำไมดนตรีของแต่ละคนจึงแตกต่างกัน

ดร.ณรงค์ได้เล่าถึงประสบการณ์การศึกษาเรื่องการประพันธ์เพลงว่า ขณะที่ศึกษาอยู่ในประเทศไทย ได้พยายามศึกษาบทประพันธ์ของนักประพันธ์เพลงรุ่นก่อนๆ และได้รับการประสิทธิประสาทวิชาประพันธ์เพลงจาก ดร.ณรงค์ฤทธิ์ ธรรมบุตร ซึ่งถือได้ว่าเป็นนักประพันธ์เพลงคลาสสิครุ่นที่ 2 ของประเทศไทย ดร.ณรงค์จึงเป็นรุ่นที่ 3 และเมื่อไปศึกษาต่อที่ประเทศอเมริกา อาจารย์ได้มีโอกาสอยู่ในสังคมของนักประพันธ์เพลงร่วมสมัย และได้ศึกษาการประพันธ์เพลงกับ Dr.Chen Yi ผู้ซึ่งจุดประกายความคิดในการค้นหาตัวเอง โดยให้ตั้งคำถามถามตัวเองว่าตัวเรามีจุดอ่อน จุดแข็งอย่างไร และเสียงดนตรีภายในตัวเราเป็นอย่างไร

ดร.ณรงค์ ค้นพบว่า คนเราตั้งแต่เกิดมาถูกห้อมล้อมด้วยเสียงมากกว่าคำพูด ในช่วงที่เราอยู่ในครรภ์มารดา เราได้ยินหัวใจเต้นของแม่ เสียงระบบไหลเวียนของเลือด ระบบย่อยอาหาร ฯลฯ ช่วงก่อนเรียนรู้ภาษาเราได้ยินเสียงรอบๆตัวเราทั้งที่ตั้งใจฟังและไม่ตั้งใจฟัง เช่น เสียงลม เสียงน้ำ ฯลฯ เสียงที่ห้อมล้อมตัวเราอยู่ตลอดเวลาอาจทำให้เรารู้สึกหรือไม่รู้สึกอะไรบางอย่าง เสียงที่เราได้ยินสามารถสื่อความหมายได้ว่าสร้างอารมณ์แบบไหน สามารถบอกเรื่องราวอะไรบางอย่างกับเรา ซึ่งจะเห็นได้ว่าเสียงหนึ่งๆสามารถบอกอะไรเราได้มากมายหลายอย่าง และเมื่อเอาความรู้สึกต่อเสียงรอบตัวมาประยุกต์ใช้กับดนตรี จะพบว่าเสียงดนตรีก็สามารถสื่อสารอะไรบางอย่างได้เช่นกัน

เสียงดนตรีสามารถแบ่งออกได้หลายรูปแบบ แต่ในมุมมองของ อ.ณรงค์ เสียงดนตรีคือเสียงอะไรก็ได้ที่มีการจัดวางรูปแบบ (organized) ไม่ใช่เสียงทั่วๆไปที่อยู่แวดล้อมรอบตัวเรา (ambient sound) เสียงดนตรีต้องมีความหมายในตัวเอง สามารถสื่อสารกับเราได้ มีความต่อเนื่องของระดับเสียงและจังหวะ และอีกนัยหนึ่งดนตรีอาจหมายถึงภาษา แต่จะเป็นภาษาสากลหรือไม่นั้น ดร.ณรงค์ยังไม่มีข้อสรุป จึงตั้งคำถามให้คิดต่อว่า คนที่ไม่เคยฟังเพลงไทยเดิม เมื่อฟังครั้งแรกแล้วสามารถเข้าใจเพลงไทยเดิมได้หรือไม่ ถ้าดนตรีเป็นภาษาจริงๆดนตรีสามารถถ่ายทอดข้อมูลให้ทุกคนเข้าใจได้หรือไม่ สามารถปลุกเร้าภาพหรือความรู้สึกบางอย่างของคนฟังได้หรือไม่ สามารถบรรยายสถานการณ์หรือเหตุการณ์ต่างๆที่คำพูดคำหนึ่งไม่สามารถอธิยายได้หรือไม่ หรือดนตรีต้องอาศัยประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว ภูมิหลังส่วนตัว และความรู้ส่วนตัวของคนฟังเพลงจึงจะสามารถฟังดนตรีให้เป็นภาษาได้ ถ้าเป็นเช่นนั้น ทำอย่างไรจึงสามารถหาเสียงดนตรีที่เป็นภาษาที่ทุกคนเข้าใจได้

ภาษาที่อยู่บนพื้นฐานของเสียงดนตรีนั้นรวมถึงความเงียบด้วย ต้องสามารถสื่อสารบอกความหมายได้ โดยธรรมชาติแล้วภาษาจะถูกพัฒนาผ่านช่วงเวลา ภาษาจึงแตกต่างกันไปตามกาลเวลา จึงมีคำเรียกว่า ภาษาเก่า ภาษาใหม่ ในดนตรีก็เช่นกัน ดร.ณรงค์ ใช้เวลา 5 ปีในการหาภาษาดนตรีของตัวเองว่าเป็นรูปแบบใด โดยเปรียบเทียบองค์ประกอบที่แตกต่างกันของดนตรีภาษาเก่าและใหม่ และในที่สุดก็ค้นพบว่าสิ่งสำคัญที่สุด คือ ไม่สำคัญว่าเราใช้ภาษาใหม่หรือเก่า แต่สำคัญที่ว่าภาษาที่ใช้สามารถแสดงถึงอัตลักษณ์ คือ สามารถบ่งบอกตัวตนของผู้ประพันธ์เพลงนั้นได้ เช่น เชื้อชาติ ฯลฯ ต้องสามารถบ่งบอกได้ว่านักประพันธ์แต่ละคนแตกต่างกันอย่างไร มีลักษณะเฉพาะอย่างไร ดร.ณรงค์เองมักถูกตีตราว่าเป็นนักประพันธ์เพลงชาวไทย ถูกคาดหวังความเป็นไทยในบทประพันธ์ แต่จะสร้างความแตกต่างจากนักประพันธ์ชาวไทยคนอื่นๆได้อย่างไร ถ้าใช้วัตถุดิบแบบเดียวกัน และในที่สุดได้ค้นพบว่าต้องเริ่มต้นที่ตัวเอง ต้องรู้จักตัวเอง รู้จักภาษาดนตรีของตัวเอง เพราะนักประพันธ์เพลงแต่ละคนมีรสนิยมในการเลือกไม่เหมือนกัน นั่นคือ มีรสนิยมเฉพาะตัว (personal taste) เป็นของตัวเอง

เมื่อตอนเด็กๆ ดร.ณรงค์ เคยคิดว่า ต้องเขียนเพลงใหม่ ต้องใช้วัตถุดิบที่ไม่ซ้ำกับของเดิมเท่านั้น แต่เมื่อเริ่มเขียนเพลงเป็นอาชีพ มีข้อจำกัดของเวลา ไม่มีเวลาพอที่จะประดิษฐ์คิดค้นสิ่งใหม่ตลอดเวลา ดังนั้นบทเพลงที่ประพันธ์ออกมาจึงดูเหมือนการนำวัตถุดิบเก่าๆมาใช้ซ้ำ แต่ในความเป็นจริงแล้ว เป็นการทดลองใช้ของเดิมในรูปแบบใหม่ เป็นการพัฒนาของเดิม หรือสามารถมองได้อีกอย่างหนึ่งว่าเป็นการเดินทางบนเสียงดนตรี (musical journey) เป็นเหมือนสมุดไดอารี่ที่บันทึกพัฒนาการทางดนตรี ของเก่าที่นำมาใช้ซ้ำคือเสียงดนตรีที่เราชอบ อยากได้ยิน เช่น การใช้คอร์ด จังหวะ ฯลฯ มันคือรสนิยมเฉพาะตัวของเรา แม้นักประพันธ์เพลงที่ไม่สนใจการสร้างรูปแบบเฉพาะตัว เขียนเพลงได้ทุกรูปแบบ ก็ยังพบว่ามีอะไรคล้ายคลึงกันในเพลงของเขาและนั่นคือรสนิยมเฉพาะตัว

ดร.ณรงค์ได้กล่าวถึง ปัญหาของนักประพันธ์เพลงเอเชียที่ค้นหาตัวตนของตัวเองไม่พบว่า แบ่งออกเป็น 2 ลักษณะ คือ บทประพันธ์ที่สร้างจากดนตรีพื้นบ้าน และบทประพันธ์แบบ Darmstadt School ที่ชอบใช้ noise หลายคนอยากเขียนเพลงที่เป็นไทย เป็นเอเชีย แต่ก็อยากเขียนเพลงเหมือนชาวยุโรปที่เราชื่นชอบ อยากใช้เทคนิคแบบรัสเซีย แบบยุโรป ดร.ณรงค์ จึงให้คำแนะนำว่า นักประพันธ์เพลงต้องเชื่อมั่นในตัวเอง ทุกคนอยากเป็นนักประพันธ์เพลงที่ยิ่งใหญ่เป็นที่ชื่นชอบของคนทั้งโลก แต่ในที่สุดเราก็หนีความเป็นตัวเองไม่พ้น ดังนั้นไม่ควรเปลี่ยนตัวเองเพื่อให้คนอื่นชอบ แต่ให้เขาชอบที่เราเป็นเรา เมื่อเราเขียนเพลงที่ไม่จริงใจกับตัวเอง ไม่เป็นตัวของเราเอง จะอยู่ในอาชีพนี้ได้ไม่นาน คนฟังแล้วไม่ชอบเพลงของเราก็เป็นเรื่องที่ช่วยไม่ได้ สักวันจะมีคนชอบเอง เพราะฉะนั้นจงฟังเสียงดนตรีของตัวเองให้มากขึ้น

ดร.ณรงค์ได้อธิบายถึงบทประพันธ์ของอาจารย์เองที่คนไทยหลายคนฟังแล้วไม่รู้สึกว่ามีความเป็นไทย ทั้งนี้เป็นเพราะอาจารย์ไม่ได้ใช้ทำนองเพลงดนตรีพื้นบ้านของไทย หรือบันไดเสียงไทยที่คนไทยคุ้นหู แต่ใช้วัตถุดิบ เช่น สร้างควอร์เตอร์โทนจากบันไดเสียงไทย เพียงเพื่อให้ได้กลิ่นอายของเพลงไทย มีความเป็นเอเชีย ไม่ให้รู้สึกว่าเป็นไทยจนเกินไป จุดสำคัญไม่ได้อยู่ที่คนไทยจำได้ว่าเป็นเพลงไทย แต่คนฟังจำได้ว่าเป็นเพลงของ อ.ณรงค์ ซึ่งใช้เทคนิคแตกต่างจากนักประพันธ์เพลงชาวไทยรุ่นก่อนๆที่นิยมประพันธ์เพลงโดยใช้เพลงไทยใส่คอร์ดแบบตะวันตก นอกจากนี้เทคนิคการผสมผสานวัฒนธรรมทางดนตรี ส่วนหนึ่งมีพื้นฐานมาจากครอบครัวและสังคมไทยที่อาศัยอยู่ท่ามกลางความหลากหลายของวัฒนธรรม อาจารย์จึงภูมิใจว่าบทเพลงที่ประพันธ์ขึ้นมาไม่ได้แสดงออกแค่เพียงคอร์ดหรือจังหวะที่ใช้ แต่สามารถบ่งบอกได้ถึงรากเหง้าของสังคมที่เติบโตขึ้นมา และบ่งบอกได้ว่ามีปรัชญาอยู่เบื้องหลังความคิด

ในตอนท้ายของการบรรยาย Kee Yong ได้ขอความคิดเห็นและวิธีแก้ไขปัญหาการศึกษาด้านดนตรีของคนเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ซึ่ง ดร.ณรงค์กล่าวว่า มีวัฒนธรรมการศึกษาที่คล้ายคลึงกัน คือ นักเรียนไม่มีความมั่นใจในตัวเอง เพราะอยู่ในระบบที่ต้องเคารพอาจารย์ตลอดเวลา มีอาจารย์คอยแนะแนวทาง ทุกคนฟังอาจารย์อย่างเดียว ไม่กล้าตัดสินใจ ไม่กล้าอยากทำในสิ่งที่เราอยากจะทำ แต่อย่างไรก็ตามก็ยังดีกว่าเมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับนักเรียนที่มีความมั่นใจในตัวเองมากเกินไป ไม่เชื่อฟังคำแนะนำของอาจารย์ ไม่ปรับปรุงข้อบกพร่องของตัวเอง เมื่อใดที่เราคิดว่าเราฉลาดแล้วนั่นคือจุดจบของตัวเอง การที่เราคิดว่าเราโง่เราจะพยายามขวนขวายหาความรู้เพิ่มเติมตลอดเวลา ดร.ณรงค์ได้เสนอแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหา คือ ให้แก้ไขที่ตัวอาจารย์ ควรสอนให้เด็กฟังและได้ยินในสิ่งที่ตัวเองอยากเขียน ควรช่วยให้เด็กได้ยินในสิ่งที่อยากได้ยิน เขียนในสิ่งที่ได้ยิน และช่วยให้ทำในสิ่งที่เขาอยากจะทำให้ได้ดีขึ้น เพื่อจะได้เขียนเพลงที่เป็นตัวตนของตัวเอง และที่สำคัญคือ ให้นักเรียนกล้าพูดในสิ่งที่อยากจะพูด กล้าที่จะแสดงว่าเขาไม่เข้าใจโดยไม่สนใจว่าคนอื่นจะมองว่าโง่ก็ตาม

นอกจากนี้ จากประสบการณ์การสอนเรียนในประเทศไทย ดร.ณรงค์พบปัญหาว่า นักเรียนมักทดลองเขียนเพลงตามสมัยนิยมที่ชอบเสียงดนตรีที่ซับซ้อน เพลงที่เขียนออกมาจึงซับซ้อนมากจนเกินไป จนไม่สามารถได้ยินสิ่งที่ตนเองเขียน ไม่สามารถร้องออกมาได้ และไม่สามารถนำไปปฏิบัติจริงให้เสียงออกมาตามที่เขียนได้ คนเขียนเองก็ไม่รู้ว่าที่เขียนเสียงออกมาเป็นอย่างไร ซึ่งจำเป็นต้องได้รับการแก้ไขด้วยการฝึกร้องสิ่งที่ตนเองเขียนให้ได้ และเขียนในสิ่งที่ตนเองร้องได้

ก่อนจบการบรรยาย ดร.ณรงค์ ได้กล่าวทิ้งท้ายเกี่ยวกับการสร้างอัตลักษณ์ของนักประพันธ์เพลงชาวไทย ว่าการศึกษาดนตรีในเมืองไทยควรจะมีชั้นเรียนที่เรียนเกี่ยวกับดนตรีไทย เพื่อสร้างนักประพันธ์เพลงที่สามารถผสมผสานวัฒนธรรมดนตรีของไทยกับตะวันตกได้ ซึ่งคนไทยโดยทั่วไปมองว่าการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานที่มีกลิ่นอายของความเป็นไทยไม่น่าสนใจ เพราะเราคุ้นเคยกับมันจนไม่รู้สึกว่าน่าตื่นเต้น ไม่เหมือนกับการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานตามรสนิยมตะวันตกซึ่งดูแปลกใหม่ไม่คุ้นเคย แต่เราคนไทยลืมไปว่าไม่มีชาติใดที่สร้างสรรค์ดนตรีแบบไทยๆได้ดีเท่าคนไทยเพราะเป็นวัฒนธรรมที่ถูกหล่อหลอมมาตลอดชีวิต และความเป็นไทยนี่เองควรเป็นพื้นฐานในการค้นหาอัตลักษณ์ของนักประพันธ์เพลงชาวไทยต่อไป

The story of Savitri, the Indian Queen who defied the God of Death to save her husband's life, is known to every Thai. There's a beautiful adaptation of the story by HM King Rama VI, and Thai students learn the story in school as part of the received traditional of Thai culture. The story has its origins in the Mahabharata.

Gustav Holst, the British composer familiar to everyone for "The Planets", wrote a one-act opera based on this story. His version is an austere, beautiful piece which pares the tale down to its classical essentials, accompanied by a small ensemble.

As part of its ongoing series of chamber operas Opera Siam/Bangkok Opera presents the Thai premiere of this work with a local cast.

In the first half of the double bill, Thailand's youthful Shounen-Thai Quartet performs Schubert's famous Death and the Maiden quartet, another work that plays with the contrast between a beautiful woman and death. One of the most famous of all string quartets, it is a work of high drama and lyricism.

คอนเสิร์ทของ โจอี้ คาลเดอราซโซ ที่มหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต

ปีนี้วิทยาลัยดนตรีมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต มีโปรแกรมดีดีมาให้ชมกันนับแต่เริ่มปีการศึกษาเลยที่เดียว นับแต่เมื่อกลางกรกฎาคมกับมหกรรมงานประพันธ์เพลงนานาชาติแห่งประเทศไทยหรือ Thailand International Composition Festival 2010 ซึ่งมีนักประพันธ์เพลงระดับที่เรียกว่า Big Name อย่าง Zou Long (รางวัลแกรมมี), Robert Beaser (รางวัลพูลิตเซอร์) และท่านอื่น ๆ มาร่วมงานกันโดยมีการบรรยายและดนตรีแสดงเป็นเวลาถึง 5 วัน 5 คืนทีเดียว ต่อมาเมื่อเดือนที่แล้วทางวิทยาลัย ฯ ก็ยังได้รับเกียรติจาก Maria Schneider ซึ่งเป็นนักแต่งเพลงระดับ 2 รางวัลแกรมมี ในการมาปรับวงแจ๊ซออร์เคสตราแห่งมหาวิทยาลัยรังสิต (RSU Jazz Orchestra) โดยการมาของ Maria Scheiner ในครั้งที่ผ่านมานั้นเธอยังได้ร่วมแสดงโดยควบคุมวงจากวิทยาลัยฯ ซึ่งนับเป็นการควบคุมวงในระดับมหาวิทยาลัยเป็นครั้งแรกในเอเชียอีกด้วย โปรแกรมอันน่าสนใจยิ่งอีกโปรแกรมหนึ่งก็คือคอนเสิร์ทของ Joey Calderazzo Trio ซึ่งนับเป็นวงแจ๊ซทริโอที่กำลังอยู่ในระดับสูงสุดในวงการแจ๊ซในปัจจุบัน

From the time of his emergence with Michael Brecker in 1986 through his recent work in the Branford Marsalis Quartet, and on five previous albums under his own name, Calderazzo has proved to be among the most intense and engaged of contemporary soloists and accompanists. His energy, technique and rapid fire imagination have marked him as one of the most exciting jazz pianists to emerge in the past two decades. Calderazzo has documented this commanding mastery of group interplay on five previous albums that found him matching ideas and passions with such imposing artists as Brecker, Marsalis, Jerry Bergonzi, Jack DeJohnette, Dave Holland, John Patitucci and Jeff “Tain” Watts.

Haydn's masses are among the greatest glories of choral music in the classical period and the Mass in B flat, composed in 1802 in the twilight of Haydn's life, is a stunning masterpiece, full of fanciful orchestration, rich harmonic color, and inventive touches. In his final years, Haydn's was never more brilliant.

The Orpheus Choir performed the Thailand premiere of Haydn's Mass in Time of War six years ago and this is another Thailand first. The Siam Sinfonietta, Thailand's premier youth orchestra, accompanies the Orpheus Choir and seven soloists, all drawn from the local community. Somtow Sucharitkul will conduct.

A preview performance will take place in the ABAC church, a gorgeous marble miniature of the Basilica in Rome, on Saturday Oct 2.

The public performance will be on Oct 3 at the Mahisorn Hall. Mahisorn is easily reached by taking the BTS to Chatuchak and continuing by taxi. Ask for "SCB Park". The performance is at 6 pm in order that concertgoers may take advantage of one of the many restaurants in SCB Park for dinner or tea. This is a wonderful opportunity to hear some rare and beautiful choral music.

ในเทอมแรกปีนี้ (2553) คนที่มาแรงในด้านคุณภาพและปริมาณน่าจะเป็น

คนแรกนายไผ่ เป็นพี่ใหญ่ที่รังสิตนี้เรื่องการประพันธ์เพลง สำเนียงเพลงมีส่วนผสมของแจ๊ซ ป๊อบและแบบ อวองการ์ดเข้าด้วยกัน คนที่สองนายต้อง ผมกำลังจับทางตานี่อยู่เพิ่งมารังสิตปีแรก แต่ดูจากงานแล้ว ท่าจะชอบ George Crumb น่าดู คนที่สามนายโจ๊ก พื้นฐานแจ๊ซดีบวกความขยันและใจเปิดกว้าง เพลงตานี้จะต้องเล่นยากมากแน่ๆ ในอนาคต ต่อมานายฟิว นายฟิว นายฟิว นายฟิว อ้าววววชักจะเหมือนของตานี่แล้ว นายคนนี้วันวันฝันออกมาเป็นเพลงของ John Adams ครับ ต่อมานายแคมป์ ตาคนนี้ข้างในมีเยอะครับ แต่รับงานวุ่นวายไปหมดทำให้ข้างในที่ว่าเยอะ ๆ นั้นกระแทกผ่านลำตัวอวบ ๆ ออกมาได้น้อย แต่ที่ผ่านออกมาก็มีความน่าสนใจทีเดียว สุดท้ายกะเพลงแวนโก๊ะหูขาดของนายแวร์ ก็มีอะไรข้างในเยอะแต่ขาดบางอย่างที่ไม่สามารถบอกได้ในตอนนี้ รอวันสอบก่อนแล้วจะกลับมารายงานครับ

จริง ๆ แล้วก็มีท่านอื่น ๆ อีกมาก แต่เป็นพวกมายังไม่แรงหรือยังไม่มาเลยประกอบด้วย
1. เจเจ เพ็ญพรรณ คนนี้เพิ่งตั้งไข่ แต่โดยความขยันแล้วอาจจะไปได้ดีในอนาคตกาล
2. นายอาร์ม กำลังเรียนกะ อ. เปิ้ล ท่าทางจะไปพอได้แม้จะลาก ๆ ถู ๆ บ้างก็ตาม
3. นายโจ ต้องฝ่าด่านจังหวะโพลกาของตัวเองให้ได้เสียก่อน ถึงจะทำอะไรต่อได้
4. นายอ๊อบ ถือคติคอนเซ็ปต์ดีมีชัยไปกว่าครึ่ง แต่ลืมไปว่าดนตรีนั้นคือเสียงครับ ดนตรีคือเสียง
5. นายตาล เพิ่งเริ่มเช่นกัน แต่ได้เปรียบตรงที่ประสบการณืผ่านชีวิตนักดนตรีมากนานกว่าน้อง ๆ
6. นายบิ๊ก เฮ้ย....ท่านบิ๊กอยู่ไหน อาจารย์ทุกท่านให้อภัยแล้ว
7. นายโบอิ้ง คนนี้ขยันครับ แต่ยัง...ยังไงไม่รู้ ยังไงจะรายงานให้ทราบอีกครั้งหลังจากสอบละกัน
8. นายสกานต์........เออ ดรอปนี่นา....

Feldman: Rothko Chapel

Rothko Chapel, written to be played in the famous Houston space, is a wonderful piece, one that should win new converts to the Feldman cause. It isn't daunting in length, like many later Feldman pieces, yet it retains the sonic beauty and delicacy of instrumental color that makes Feldman unique. The piece is also remarkably tonal, unlike many other Feldman works. The gorgeous hushed soprano solo sounds like a distant call to prayer. Feldman talks in the liner notes of the influence of Hebrew cantilation and you can hear it, although it is much more distant than most cantilation. This work is an example of the best kind of ambient music. It is endlessly fascinating, and yet seems to have a physical presence that does not depend on your concentration. You can listen intently or just let the sound wash over you. (a review from Amazon)
